[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast. Merry Christmas and for you dolphins out there. Thank you. I think I said that right. You have dolphins on a ham radio? What's going on over there? I apologize. If I didn't say that right, I apologize. Oh man, DCOM Descendants back and better than ever with no new reviews, if you can believe it, since our last recording. You'd think people would have flooded the Apple reviews.
[00:00:43] No, sorry. They got it early. Yeah, they got it early. You get it? If you watched last week's episode, you got it early. This week's on time though. This week's on time. Christmas stuff is up, but Halloweens are coming. Hi everybody. Our Halloween costume is Christmas. That's right. We're talking a ring of endless light. Please leave us a rating and review in spite of what just happened. On Apple Podcasts, we only have 137. And if you want us to continue after the DCOMs,
[00:01:13] are over, we're going to need to get to 300. And guys, you got to be honest. Every week, it looks more and more like that's not going to happen. And you know what? I'm glad we made that deal ahead of time. So we don't have to have that talk. So there you go. It's so cute how you think like we're not actually going to keep watching. We're not. You guys said 300. I said 500. You were like 200. I was like 400. And you said 300. And I actually said no. And then I finally agreed to it. 300 is the number. Nothing to do about it. Yeah, but like, I'm not actually following that. Like, I'm just going to, we're going to keep doing this. I'm not. That's fine. We don't need you. Great. This works. This works out for us.
[00:01:43] That's right. We don't need you. I love that. And you need to know that up front. If you can eat these and so can I. We're talking Ring of Endless Light today. A movie that nobody that is a fan of DCOMs has ever watched or seen or heard of. So we're excited to dive into it today. Big Ring of Endless Light. You know what? I just found out. So this movie is based off of a book. We knew that. Madeline L'Angle.
[00:02:08] Tommy Hangman. But Vicki Austin is apparently in eight of her books, but they're not like connected. She's in eight of her. Yes. The character of Vicki Austin is in eight of Engel's books. But the books aren't connected to each other? It's hard to say. I think maybe they are. I mean, listen, I'm finding this all out in real time. You can do it on your own time. I got stuff to do. Don't get it on his research. Who do you think you are?
[00:02:38] Yeah. Shut up. You got a device. You can get to it on your own time. That's right. I did as much as I want to. And he was so embarrassed by what he was reading and the chance that it could be wrong. He didn't want you to see it. No, I thought he was right. No, it says it right here. One of Madeline L'Angle's. We have nowhere to be today. We may as well do this for hours. It's time for Delish. It's where we talk about something that you can eat, drink, consume. Be merry.
[00:03:08] While you're, no, that's in a couple months. Merry Christmas, everybody.
[00:03:13] Happy Halloween.
[00:03:14] Happy Halloween.
[00:03:17] What do we have today?
[00:03:21] For you dolphins out there.
[00:03:24] No, you can't say that. That's the language there.
[00:03:27] And we don't speak to women like that, in all honesty.
[00:03:30] Maybe when the camera's on.
[00:03:34] All right, here's one for you.
[00:03:36] Thank you.
[00:03:37] This is a segment of the show where Aaron makes us something.
[00:03:39] It's thematic.
[00:03:40] Yeah, and it totally.
[00:03:41] Ginger ale with a sour on it.
[00:03:45] Is that it?
[00:03:46] So this is a peach ring cocktail.
[00:03:49] Okay.
[00:03:50] So it is ginger ale, a shot of peach snobs, and a peach ring gummy candy.
[00:03:55] What's the tie-in?
[00:03:57] A ring.
[00:03:58] Oh, there it is.
[00:04:01] Do you know why we can't record these all day is because all delicious are alcohol.
[00:04:07] So we just keep drinking all day, and then the fifth one we record is like.
[00:04:12] Hey, it's like I thought I was doing one delish this week and prepped it really well
[00:04:15] and found out I was doing two delicious, and now it's a ring cocktail.
[00:04:19] Ring around the rosie.
[00:04:20] Here we go.
[00:04:20] Cheers, everybody.
[00:04:25] Not bad.
[00:04:25] Not bad.
[00:04:26] I don't need that.
[00:04:27] Not bad at all.
[00:04:28] I always forget how much I quite enjoy a ginger ale.
[00:04:31] Oh, you have almost 13%.
[00:04:32] Yeah.
[00:04:33] Oh, that's it?
[00:04:33] Yeah.
[00:04:34] Ginger ale is.
[00:04:35] It felt so much.
[00:04:35] Yeah, it did.
[00:04:36] I always forget how much I like a ginger ale.
[00:04:39] Me too.
[00:04:39] My tum-tum's going to be pumped.
[00:04:42] Are you sick?
[00:04:43] It's really going to help with lunch.
[00:04:45] It really is.
[00:04:46] But also, my go-to drink of choice is a whiskey and ginger ale.
[00:04:49] That would be my go-to, like a beam and ginger, just like that's a very easy.
[00:04:52] I don't know why I responded like that.
[00:04:55] Ow!
[00:04:56] Ow!
[00:04:57] For the dolphins out there.
[00:04:59] Oh, that was-
[00:05:00] That was-
[00:05:00] You were responding to the dolphins.
[00:05:02] That was an approval sign of the dolphins.
[00:05:04] And this is on me, because earlier I said, I'm pretty sure Ring of Endless Light's going
[00:05:08] to be a short episode, because what are we going to talk about?
[00:05:10] Yeah, you made a huge mistake there.
[00:05:12] Because Vicki Austin is in all of these books.
[00:05:15] But they're not connected.
[00:05:16] She's in eight of them.
[00:05:17] Yeah.
[00:05:18] Meet the Austins, the moon by night, Ring of Endless Light.
[00:05:23] Two, not connected to one at all.
[00:05:24] Okay.
[00:05:25] They're not connected.
[00:05:28] The 20-
[00:05:29] My computer died.
[00:05:34] It's fine.
[00:05:34] It's in the cloud.
[00:05:35] It's in the cloud.
[00:05:36] It's in the cloud.
[00:05:38] Bring it down.
[00:05:40] Bring it down.
[00:05:41] We're going to take a quick break.
[00:05:43] We're going to come back, and we are going to talk about Ring of Endless Lights.
[00:05:47] Yeah!
[00:05:47] Here on...
[00:05:50] Deck the Hallmark.
[00:05:51] DECOM Descendants.
[00:05:52] Merry Christmas.
[00:05:53] Happy Halloween.
[00:05:54] Happy Halloween.
[00:05:56] Hong Kong.
[00:06:05] We're talking DECOM Descendants.
[00:06:08] We're talking Ring of Endless Light.
[00:06:10] Yeah, we are.
[00:06:11] Today.
[00:06:12] Very excited to dive.
[00:06:13] We finally made it.
[00:06:14] It's movie 40, Brian.
[00:06:16] Is it really?
[00:06:17] Movie 40 for us here at DECOM Descendants.
[00:06:20] That's kind of amazing.
[00:06:21] It's a big deal.
[00:06:21] The eight books are connected.
[00:06:24] But Vicki Austin is in all of them and is not.
[00:06:27] Yeah, she's not the same.
[00:06:28] She's the protagonist of the Austin family series.
[00:06:32] Yeah, that would make sense that they are connected.
[00:06:34] I don't want to say Brian's wrong.
[00:06:36] And I was just trying to save us this much work if I had just looked over and been like,
[00:06:40] series.
[00:06:41] Yeah, it was a bit less fun.
[00:06:43] But it's computer's dead, so what are you going to do?
[00:06:44] Who do you think you are not doing your own research?
[00:06:45] Hold on.
[00:06:46] Does she talk dolphin in all of them?
[00:06:49] She could.
[00:06:50] I haven't read them.
[00:06:50] Is that an important part of the series?
[00:06:52] Is her ability.
[00:06:53] Or do we find out she talks dolphin in the last one?
[00:06:55] It just says she's a developing poet and writer.
[00:06:58] She observes the everyday events in her large family.
[00:07:01] Developing poet.
[00:07:02] Dates several boys.
[00:07:03] Yeah, we know.
[00:07:04] Canjicates with dolphins.
[00:07:05] Faces the occasional mortal danger.
[00:07:07] And reflects on important issues about life and death.
[00:07:10] This sounds like just a book.
[00:07:10] Faith and family as she gradually comes of age.
[00:07:13] Did we watch all of those books in the one movie?
[00:07:16] We lumped them all in.
[00:07:17] She dated several boys in this movie, so.
[00:07:20] Well, in the book, Ring of Endless Light, there's three boys.
[00:07:23] Oh!
[00:07:24] Wow.
[00:07:25] Is the dolphin one of them?
[00:07:27] Do they consider the dolphin one of them?
[00:07:28] Because I do.
[00:07:29] I consider the dolphin.
[00:07:30] There's three boys.
[00:07:33] There's Zach.
[00:07:34] There's Adam.
[00:07:35] And there's Basil.
[00:07:36] But Zach is dolphin.
[00:07:37] Well, no, Basil.
[00:07:38] Adam is dolphin.
[00:07:39] Adam could be dolphin.
[00:07:40] Adam is dolphin.
[00:07:41] Could be dolphin.
[00:07:42] But we know Basil.
[00:07:44] Basil's pumped.
[00:07:51] Let's dive in.
[00:07:52] Directed by Greg Beeman.
[00:07:54] We know Greg Beeman.
[00:07:55] Yeah, we know Greg Beeman.
[00:07:57] He's directed many of the movies.
[00:07:58] His final decum.
[00:07:59] This is it.
[00:08:00] Beeman's swan song.
[00:08:01] I did see Beeman's swan song a lot.
[00:08:04] Oh, man.
[00:08:05] God, are we still making those posters?
[00:08:08] We need to start making them again just for Beeman's swan song.
[00:08:12] Brian's too busy listening to books, et cetera.
[00:08:15] He doesn't listen to our show anymore.
[00:08:17] Called the Midwest, Midwife.
[00:08:18] He doesn't listen to our show anymore.
[00:08:20] He can't make the posters.
[00:08:21] It's a shame.
[00:08:23] It's a shame.
[00:08:23] Beeman's swan song was excellent.
[00:08:25] Oh, my gosh.
[00:08:26] All four hours.
[00:08:27] I can't believe you got tickets.
[00:08:28] They played at the Hollywood Bowl.
[00:08:30] Did they do the thing where they rotate?
[00:08:32] Yeah, full rotation.
[00:08:35] Counterclockwise this time, which is wild.
[00:08:37] They didn't.
[00:08:38] They did the counterclockwise.
[00:08:39] I've only heard of them doing the clock.
[00:08:40] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:08:41] You're saying they did counter.
[00:08:42] They countered it, yeah.
[00:08:43] They only did clock.
[00:08:44] They only did clock.
[00:08:46] Adam's Dolphin.
[00:08:46] You guys don't ever shorten clockwise to just clock?
[00:08:49] Is that just me?
[00:08:50] Because we're going to do things clock.
[00:08:53] No.
[00:08:55] Theme music once again by Phil Marshall.
[00:08:57] I think he does all the theme music at this point.
[00:08:59] And it's starring Misha Barton and Ryan.
[00:09:02] Miriam in and Dean from Gilmore Girls.
[00:09:07] And James Whitmore, the venerable James Whitmore from Shawshank Redemption.
[00:09:11] Jerry Padalecki.
[00:09:13] Padalecki.
[00:09:14] What do you think about Dean and Rory, Bran?
[00:09:19] Dean sucks.
[00:09:21] He sucks.
[00:09:23] God, if I have to hear it.
[00:09:24] You brought it up.
[00:09:25] I asked for it that time.
[00:09:26] You brought it up.
[00:09:27] I was done.
[00:09:29] You're not done?
[00:09:30] I guarantee you're not done.
[00:09:31] It's going to happen again.
[00:09:33] This is for no one but me and anybody else who watches Supernatural.
[00:09:35] But there is a funny episode where the Supernatural characters get transported to basically this real world where they are Jared and Jensen playing actors.
[00:09:45] But they think that they're Sam and Dean.
[00:09:48] And he's just like, everyone thinks that I'm something called a Padalecki.
[00:09:52] And I just think about that all the time.
[00:09:54] What season was that?
[00:09:55] Like 32?
[00:09:58] Eight or nine?
[00:09:58] It's still going, right?
[00:10:00] No, it's over.
[00:10:00] When the characters host Deck the Hallmark, that's when we've jumped the shark.
[00:10:04] Yeah.
[00:10:05] That's what they do.
[00:10:05] But Rig and Trace and Seth are hosting it.
[00:10:08] And the bits are brand new and mean.
[00:10:10] Where they are still Sam and Dean, but they are in the world where they're actors.
[00:10:13] Could you write that down?
[00:10:14] Because we got a week after Christmas and nothing to do.
[00:10:19] Let's do Rig of Endless Light, shall we?
[00:10:21] And yet this week we have like 27 episodes that need to fit into 70s.
[00:10:24] That's right.
[00:10:25] It's normal.
[00:10:26] Okay.
[00:10:26] Everything's normal.
[00:10:26] It'll work.
[00:10:27] Everything works.
[00:10:27] Everything works out.
[00:10:28] Happy Halloween.
[00:10:29] Happy Halloween.
[00:10:29] The movie kicks off with, I think it's a 13th year sequel.
[00:10:34] There's a mermaid.
[00:10:35] The mermaid gets stuck in a net.
[00:10:37] It's a whole thing.
[00:10:39] But then suddenly it cuts to Vicky.
[00:10:42] Vicky Austin.
[00:10:44] You might know Vicky Austin from The Other Seven Books.
[00:10:48] And they are connected.
[00:10:50] She's a big part of them.
[00:10:52] Obviously they're connected.
[00:10:54] She wouldn't write eight books with the same character name and then not be connected.
[00:10:58] So that's dumb.
[00:10:59] As a reader, that would frustrate me.
[00:11:00] That would frustrate me too as a non-reader.
[00:11:05] As a picture looker.
[00:11:06] As a picture looker.
[00:11:08] As a synopsis reader.
[00:11:11] I read a synopsis.
[00:11:12] I can do that.
[00:11:14] We'll see.
[00:11:14] Debatable.
[00:11:15] She is on a boat with her sister Susie.
[00:11:19] I'm on a boat, mother.
[00:11:20] And little brother.
[00:11:22] Don't you ever forget.
[00:11:23] Little brother Rob.
[00:11:24] They're visiting grandfather.
[00:11:26] Grandfather.
[00:11:27] If you call him grandpa, get out.
[00:11:30] If you call him grandpa, get out.
[00:11:33] Papa.
[00:11:33] What about gramps?
[00:11:34] No.
[00:11:35] He is grandfather.
[00:11:36] Grandfather.
[00:11:36] And it becomes pretty clear to us, the viewers, that grandfather is struggling a bit.
[00:11:41] But he's going to fake it until he makes it.
[00:11:44] A boy named Adam rides up on a bike.
[00:11:47] His shirt is unbuttoned because he is visiting grandfather.
[00:11:52] And it's cash.
[00:11:54] And so he's bringing some books that he borrowed from grandfather.
[00:11:57] And then is opening up about his research project he's working on this summer.
[00:12:03] Does he care about dolphins?
[00:12:05] Loves dolphins.
[00:12:07] Over under him talking about dolphins.
[00:12:10] Over.
[00:12:10] So over.
[00:12:12] Listen.
[00:12:13] We've seen some Ryan Meerman at this point.
[00:12:16] He couldn't have been trying to get through this stuff faster.
[00:12:20] No.
[00:12:20] He's got a lot to get through in a very little amount of time.
[00:12:24] And he gets through all of it.
[00:12:26] He just wants you to know everything about dolphins.
[00:12:28] Vicky tries to talk to him about.
[00:12:29] I didn't hear any of it because it all just came at me so fast.
[00:12:32] My brain couldn't like.
[00:12:33] So you got the solar signs.
[00:12:34] I don't know when they swim.
[00:12:36] I couldn't like hear individual words.
[00:12:38] And I was like, he's saying some science things.
[00:12:40] The solar system is structured by the fins on the gills.
[00:12:42] I am zoning out.
[00:12:44] They still have to breathe, you know.
[00:12:46] Yeah, they do.
[00:12:46] All right, Ryan.
[00:12:47] Now, Vicky.
[00:12:48] Me's just not getting a word of this.
[00:12:49] Vicky tries to meet him where he is by talking about mermaids.
[00:12:53] And he is just like, shut your filthy mouth.
[00:12:56] Unless you want to talk about dolphins, don't come at me with this mermaid stuff.
[00:12:59] It's nonsense.
[00:13:00] Dolphins are real.
[00:13:01] She's like, mermaids are fun stories.
[00:13:03] I am dolphin.
[00:13:03] You are not mermaid.
[00:13:04] That's right.
[00:13:07] So they're like playing with dolphin.
[00:13:09] And they notice that one of the dolphins has a fresh scar.
[00:13:14] Vicky suddenly goes into a trance and just says, hard, sharp seaweed.
[00:13:23] He's like, come again.
[00:13:26] Hard, sharp seaweed was the encore for Beeman Swan song, if you can believe it, which was wild.
[00:13:32] Is that a different band or a song?
[00:13:33] No, it's a song.
[00:13:33] It's a song.
[00:13:34] I know.
[00:13:34] I just want to make sure.
[00:13:35] Counterclockwise.
[00:13:36] Counter.
[00:13:37] It's clock.
[00:13:38] Counter clock.
[00:13:39] Yeah.
[00:13:40] If I said counter clock, you would know what I'm talking about.
[00:13:43] Right?
[00:13:43] If you said counter, I think I would figure it out.
[00:13:47] We're going to do things counter today.
[00:13:49] Say no more.
[00:13:52] I have questions.
[00:13:53] I don't.
[00:13:55] Just counterclockwise.
[00:13:56] What were we doing?
[00:13:58] Clock.
[00:13:59] Everything.
[00:13:59] Everything.
[00:14:00] It's the default.
[00:14:02] Every.
[00:14:04] Yes.
[00:14:06] Start at 12 and you go to one.
[00:14:09] Go to school.
[00:14:11] But like, what are we doing?
[00:14:14] Clock.
[00:14:14] Everything is clock by default.
[00:14:17] You don't have to say it.
[00:14:20] When you say counter, that means we're doing it the opposite.
[00:14:26] Counter clock.
[00:14:27] I'm so excited for this weekend to buy a pack of Dr. Pepper Zero and then just slowly dump
[00:14:34] it out while making eye contact with Brian.
[00:14:38] Be really messed up, man.
[00:14:40] That'd be counter.
[00:14:41] That's the definition of a counter.
[00:14:43] It would be clock.
[00:14:44] He doesn't get it?
[00:14:45] He doesn't get it.
[00:14:46] I don't understand.
[00:14:48] And I don't want to mansplain this to you, but think of a clock.
[00:14:53] Right.
[00:14:55] So what would, so here's, I'm holding up a circle.
[00:14:57] You know, for people that aren't left to right, 12 to one, that would be how we normally
[00:15:03] do things.
[00:15:04] Clock.
[00:15:05] Right to left.
[00:15:06] It's like reading a book backwards.
[00:15:07] Counter clock.
[00:15:08] Counter clock.
[00:15:09] But some cultures do read right to left.
[00:15:11] We're not in those cultures.
[00:15:12] For them, that's clock.
[00:15:13] We're in this culture.
[00:15:15] Well, thank you for making an assumption about my culture.
[00:15:17] Big one.
[00:15:19] This one.
[00:15:23] So, yeah, seaweed.
[00:15:25] Got it.
[00:15:26] And he's like, what are you talking about?
[00:15:28] And she's like, it's nothing.
[00:15:29] It's nothing.
[00:15:30] The next day, Hawkeye Zach comes riding up on his jet ski.
[00:15:34] Apparently, Zach and Vicky has a thing.
[00:15:38] Maybe it was in one of the other two books before this one.
[00:15:40] You mean have a thing?
[00:15:42] Have a thing?
[00:15:43] They had a thing.
[00:15:44] Yeah.
[00:15:45] You said they has a thing.
[00:15:46] Sorry.
[00:15:46] They had a thing.
[00:15:48] I can has.
[00:15:49] Well, Zachary Watson has another thing.
[00:15:51] They want it.
[00:15:51] He wants to has a cheeseburger.
[00:15:53] Yeah.
[00:15:54] And so they they start talking and he's like, my bad for not writing any letters.
[00:16:02] My mom died.
[00:16:03] Kidding me with this.
[00:16:05] And she's like, it's OK.
[00:16:06] It's OK.
[00:16:07] So they kind of they kind of make up.
[00:16:09] They're hanging out on the beach.
[00:16:10] Her brother throws a frisbee freaking halfway to Asia.
[00:16:15] And that's like, hey, dog, go get it.
[00:16:19] And the dog's just like, I'm not go.
[00:16:22] I can't do that.
[00:16:23] Like, that's so far.
[00:16:24] And so the boy's like, no problem, dog.
[00:16:27] In this case, literally a dog.
[00:16:29] Not not D.A. double W.G.
[00:16:32] Yeah, we get it.
[00:16:32] And so it's a counter.
[00:16:35] Oh, my God.
[00:16:37] The amount of explaining that you're doing that you don't have to.
[00:16:40] It's absurd right now.
[00:16:40] Boy ends up in water.
[00:16:42] Adam's dolphin.
[00:16:43] He starts drowning and all of a sudden Vicky finally realizes that something is happening.
[00:16:50] He's drowning.
[00:16:50] He's drowning for an eternity.
[00:16:52] Like 12 minutes.
[00:16:53] Yeah.
[00:16:53] So long.
[00:16:54] So long.
[00:16:55] And so she runs out there.
[00:16:56] David Blaine out there underwater.
[00:16:58] Yeah.
[00:16:58] If it wasn't a decom, he is not coming back from that water.
[00:17:02] Yeah.
[00:17:03] And so I can't stop thinking about David Blaine in this movie.
[00:17:07] I know.
[00:17:07] I saw you.
[00:17:07] David Blaine in this movie would be so good.
[00:17:12] So good.
[00:17:14] You would increase the acting pedigree.
[00:17:16] You want to hear me?
[00:17:17] You want to hear me talk to Dolphin?
[00:17:19] That was my David Blaine.
[00:17:22] Thanks.
[00:17:22] That's a good David Blaine.
[00:17:23] So she runs out there.
[00:17:26] Can't find.
[00:17:27] Comes back to shore.
[00:17:28] He's there.
[00:17:29] And she's like, how'd you do that?
[00:17:31] And he's like, I was sinking.
[00:17:33] Dolphin.
[00:17:34] How'd I get here?
[00:17:35] And that's what we're trying to figure out.
[00:17:37] Yeah.
[00:17:37] We see the dolphin push him to the surface.
[00:17:40] And I pushed him.
[00:17:40] But then the next thing we know, he's sitting on the shore and he's like, Vicky, how did
[00:17:44] I?
[00:17:44] Yeah.
[00:17:45] How did I get here?
[00:17:46] What happened?
[00:17:46] Yeah.
[00:17:47] And apparently no one saw him come out of the ocean.
[00:17:49] Yeah.
[00:17:50] Magic.
[00:17:51] Dolphin magic.
[00:17:53] Counter.
[00:17:53] Right.
[00:17:53] So after, you know, watching her brother almost die, Zach and Vicky go to diner and they're
[00:18:03] holding hands.
[00:18:04] At one point, Adam shows up.
[00:18:06] She pulls her hands away.
[00:18:08] Zach's like, what the heck?
[00:18:10] Adam explains that he thinks that some of these fishermen are using drift nets.
[00:18:18] Yeah.
[00:18:18] Drift nets.
[00:18:18] And those nets injure and kill dolphins.
[00:18:23] Yes.
[00:18:24] And so he's like, we got to go try to prove that they're using them so that they can get
[00:18:29] so we can stick Dan on them.
[00:18:31] Not this Dan.
[00:18:32] Different Dan.
[00:18:33] Different Dan.
[00:18:33] Similar Dan.
[00:18:34] He's the police cop.
[00:18:35] Police cop Dan.
[00:18:36] He's the beach cop.
[00:18:37] He's the harbor master.
[00:18:38] Yes.
[00:18:39] Harbor master police cop Dan.
[00:18:41] Harbor master.
[00:18:42] Harbor master.
[00:18:42] Beach cop.
[00:18:43] He's harbor master.
[00:18:44] Harbor master beach cop Dan.
[00:18:46] Yes.
[00:18:48] He insisted on all of those titles.
[00:18:51] Yes.
[00:18:51] It's not us.
[00:18:51] We're trying to simplify it.
[00:18:53] We're just trying to get it right over here.
[00:18:54] Yeah.
[00:18:55] And so they sneak out there late at night.
[00:18:58] They're trying to find stuff.
[00:19:02] And somebody comes out.
[00:19:04] Zach's like, I got this.
[00:19:06] I'm rich.
[00:19:06] I know what to do here.
[00:19:07] And but they don't find any drift nets.
[00:19:10] Well, it's his dad's boat.
[00:19:11] Yes.
[00:19:11] So when the guy comes out, he's like, oh, hey, it's just me.
[00:19:14] And I half own this boat.
[00:19:15] But yeah, so don't worry about it.
[00:19:17] But they don't find any drift, any drift nets.
[00:19:19] They find a buoy or something.
[00:19:21] And Adam's like, well, must be a drift net.
[00:19:25] Must be a drift net.
[00:19:26] You wouldn't have a buoy for any other reason.
[00:19:28] No, buoys are useless unless it's drift net.
[00:19:30] That's my understanding.
[00:19:32] Zach brings her home that night.
[00:19:34] They kiss twice.
[00:19:36] It's weird.
[00:19:37] I didn't like it.
[00:19:39] I didn't like it either.
[00:19:40] It is a one sided kiss.
[00:19:42] Yep.
[00:19:42] And it has all the sound effects.
[00:19:45] Well, that's a different kiss.
[00:19:46] That's the one with Adam.
[00:19:48] Right.
[00:19:48] No.
[00:19:48] The one with Zach.
[00:19:49] Zach has the two quick kisses with a sound all the way up.
[00:19:55] All the sounds.
[00:19:56] Despite the kiss not being much.
[00:19:58] The sound lasted longer than the kiss.
[00:19:59] The sound doesn't match the kiss.
[00:20:01] No.
[00:20:02] And so she then, though, has a dream that night that she's not kissing Zach.
[00:20:08] Rather, she's kissing Dolphin.
[00:20:10] And turns into Adam.
[00:20:11] Dolphin turns into Adam.
[00:20:13] Yes.
[00:20:14] Yes.
[00:20:14] That's my understanding.
[00:20:15] Adam is Dolphin.
[00:20:16] Dolphin is Adam.
[00:20:17] Yes.
[00:20:17] One and the same.
[00:20:18] So one day she comes and she goes to see the dolphins.
[00:20:25] And she realizes the dolphins are having a serious problem.
[00:20:27] Um, they're about to put.
[00:20:32] One dolphin is about to give birth.
[00:20:35] Yeah.
[00:20:35] They're about to.
[00:20:36] It's not about to do whatever you say.
[00:20:37] But they don't know.
[00:20:38] They're about to sedate her.
[00:20:40] We could just say.
[00:20:40] That's what I'm saying.
[00:20:43] You said they're about to.
[00:20:45] Yeah.
[00:20:46] Sorry.
[00:20:46] I forgot to inject.
[00:20:47] They're about to inject her with a sedation.
[00:20:51] Sedative.
[00:20:51] Of sorts.
[00:20:52] Um.
[00:20:53] They're about to inject her with a sedation.
[00:20:55] Yeah.
[00:20:56] And so.
[00:20:57] Stop trying to like use forms of words.
[00:20:59] Sorry, my bad.
[00:21:00] Um.
[00:21:01] And so.
[00:21:03] See sip with.
[00:21:03] See sip with you.
[00:21:05] Yes, we can.
[00:21:06] And so.
[00:21:06] Yes, I can.
[00:21:08] In fact.
[00:21:09] And Vicky runs up and is like, don't do it.
[00:21:11] She doesn't want the sedatives.
[00:21:13] She wants her boy.
[00:21:14] Yeah.
[00:21:15] And they're like, the boy.
[00:21:16] Because these scientists are all above board.
[00:21:18] And they have been keeping the two dolphins, the mated pair, separated.
[00:21:23] One out in the wild and one in this enclosure.
[00:21:25] So Adams, who is there, is like, you're talking about Basil?
[00:21:29] Yeah.
[00:21:29] And Basil's out there being like, it's me.
[00:21:31] I'm right here.
[00:21:32] That's my baby.
[00:21:33] That's my baby.
[00:21:36] So she's like, yeah.
[00:21:38] Gotta let Basil in here.
[00:21:40] And then you won't even have to inject her with a.
[00:21:42] You'll just get to watch the miracle of Dolphin Child's World on the Disney channel.
[00:21:46] Basil Basil.
[00:21:47] Zoom in camera too.
[00:21:48] Basil Basil comes in.
[00:21:51] And she's like, great.
[00:21:53] Thanks for listening.
[00:21:55] They swim around.
[00:21:56] And then all of a sudden, she poops out baby Dolphin.
[00:22:01] And you get to just see it all.
[00:22:04] On Disney channel.
[00:22:06] It's not.
[00:22:07] They don't cut away.
[00:22:08] They don't cut away.
[00:22:08] It's a straight shot.
[00:22:10] You just see it.
[00:22:11] It's great.
[00:22:13] Because at first, you see baby Dolphin dangling.
[00:22:16] And you're like, what's that dangling?
[00:22:17] And then you realize we're watching the baby.
[00:22:20] We're watching the real bird.
[00:22:21] Surely they'll pull away, right?
[00:22:22] Nope.
[00:22:23] No, you see all of it.
[00:22:24] They go from full dangle to full birth.
[00:22:26] All right.
[00:22:27] That's one way to say it.
[00:22:29] And I'm just saying the video of us watching the film is available.
[00:22:34] TakeTheTape.com.
[00:22:36] It's $2.99.
[00:22:37] I think it would be worth it just to watch us watch that.
[00:22:40] I think, you know, this is movie 40.
[00:22:42] This is movie 40.
[00:22:43] I think it's the best take it to the tape for the decom.
[00:22:45] I was like, I do think it was great.
[00:22:48] It has to, of the decom take it to the tapes.
[00:22:50] It's pretty good.
[00:22:51] Gotta be up there.
[00:22:51] It's pretty good.
[00:22:52] If it's not one.
[00:22:52] But people in the chat were saying like, the way we reacted to that scene, people in the
[00:22:57] chat were like, should I go watch this movie right now?
[00:23:01] That was me.
[00:23:02] It was, we were not, none of us were prepared.
[00:23:04] That was me in school when they made us watch Miracle of Birth.
[00:23:09] I was shocked.
[00:23:11] I couldn't believe it.
[00:23:12] It was news to me.
[00:23:14] It was news to everybody.
[00:23:15] It was news to you.
[00:23:15] It was news to everybody in the class.
[00:23:16] You were educated.
[00:23:17] We're all having a tough day.
[00:23:18] It was a tough day.
[00:23:20] Yeah.
[00:23:20] It was a tough day.
[00:23:21] You know, I'm sure the woman in the video had a tough day, you know, giving birth.
[00:23:26] You being in the, how old were you?
[00:23:28] It was middle school.
[00:23:30] Yeah.
[00:23:30] You know that's how that happened?
[00:23:31] I mean, I had an idea.
[00:23:33] I knew that it, you know, it wasn't a stork at that point.
[00:23:36] Yeah.
[00:23:36] But I didn't know it.
[00:23:38] Like I hadn't really given it a ton of thought.
[00:23:40] Okay.
[00:23:40] Yeah.
[00:23:41] Yeah.
[00:23:41] Yeah.
[00:23:41] Not a ton of thought.
[00:23:42] Yeah.
[00:23:43] Okay.
[00:23:43] Fair.
[00:23:44] But yeah, it's worth it.
[00:23:45] That's clock.
[00:23:46] That's clock.
[00:23:46] That's clock.
[00:23:46] And that's just kind of how it goes.
[00:23:49] So.
[00:23:49] Basil and Lucy have a baby.
[00:23:51] Whatever her name was.
[00:23:51] Enid.
[00:23:52] Enid.
[00:23:52] Basil and Enid.
[00:23:53] I'm going to call the baby Lucy.
[00:23:55] And so after that happens, Adam is like, what just happened here?
[00:24:01] And she's like, don't talk to me.
[00:24:02] She runs away.
[00:24:03] The next day, they talk a little bit more about it.
[00:24:07] And he's, and she's like, listen, don't ask how I know and why I know what dolphins are thinking.
[00:24:15] But I do.
[00:24:16] I do know.
[00:24:18] I'll save it for last.
[00:24:20] I need a cup.
[00:24:22] And so she's like, don't ask how or why.
[00:24:25] It just is.
[00:24:26] I know what dolphins are thinking.
[00:24:27] And he's like, this is amazing.
[00:24:28] I have so many questions for data.
[00:24:30] And she's like, don't you ever start talking about data?
[00:24:33] No.
[00:24:34] No, he doesn't.
[00:24:35] I will say there is a moment in that speech.
[00:24:37] And it's the closest Misha got to good acting.
[00:24:41] Yeah.
[00:24:42] If you say so.
[00:24:43] There's like, there's like one moment where she's like almost there.
[00:24:46] I'm like, yes, Misha, have some feeling.
[00:24:49] And then she goes right back to.
[00:24:51] Overrated.
[00:24:52] Yeah.
[00:24:52] So they saw that one scene and they were like, should we hire her for the movie's over?
[00:24:58] The baby's been born.
[00:24:59] We're good to go.
[00:25:00] No.
[00:25:00] So Zach takes his boat out and he's like taking pictures of the boats.
[00:25:05] And he thinks that that's going to be enough.
[00:25:07] It was like, hey, look, the boat's out there.
[00:25:08] They have bad nets.
[00:25:09] And shows them to Adam.
[00:25:12] And Adam's like, that's not good enough.
[00:25:14] Yeah.
[00:25:14] That's not good enough.
[00:25:15] Dan, too.
[00:25:16] Dan is the one.
[00:25:17] Yeah.
[00:25:17] Harbor cop patrol.
[00:25:19] Yeah.
[00:25:19] And everybody's like, this isn't good enough.
[00:25:21] We need to see that.
[00:25:22] We need to see them actually using it.
[00:25:25] You're allowed to have booing in it.
[00:25:25] Basically, we need to watch them kill some dolphins.
[00:25:28] Yeah.
[00:25:28] We got to see that abuse happen live.
[00:25:30] That's exactly right.
[00:25:31] Could we prevent it?
[00:25:32] Sure.
[00:25:32] So Zach is like, bet.
[00:25:35] Awesome.
[00:25:36] Let's go dancing.
[00:25:37] Zach's like, bet.
[00:25:38] Adam's like, I can't dance.
[00:25:40] And then he's like, I know you can.
[00:25:42] And he says, not a chance.
[00:25:44] No.
[00:25:45] And then Adam's like, if you can do this, if I can do this, then you can do that.
[00:25:52] I don't dance.
[00:25:53] This is your best synopsis writing.
[00:25:54] Thank you.
[00:25:55] And so Zach and Vicky just leave without him.
[00:26:00] But later that night, Adam shows up with a stereo, pulled it over his head.
[00:26:05] No.
[00:26:05] No.
[00:26:06] He says, hey, you want to teach me how to dance?
[00:26:08] Teach me how to do it.
[00:26:08] No.
[00:26:09] He says it even weirder.
[00:26:10] He goes, your offer's still available?
[00:26:12] And she's like, what offer?
[00:26:14] And he's like, to teach me to dance.
[00:26:15] Which is not something she ever offered to do.
[00:26:18] Not once.
[00:26:18] But she's going to do it.
[00:26:20] No.
[00:26:21] She says you can dance, everybody can dance.
[00:26:23] Yeah.
[00:26:23] Yeah.
[00:26:30] They go down to the beach, make a giant fire.
[00:26:33] A giant bonfire.
[00:26:34] And they definitely do the right thing and put the fire out.
[00:26:38] And they dance.
[00:26:39] They dance.
[00:26:40] And we dance.
[00:26:42] They kiss so many times.
[00:26:44] So many times.
[00:26:45] So many times.
[00:26:46] It's nuts.
[00:26:47] Did we mention that they danced?
[00:26:48] They danced.
[00:26:50] It's also a great scene.
[00:26:51] You should watch it.
[00:26:52] The next day, they go out to the water.
[00:26:55] They do arena.
[00:26:56] They do.
[00:26:57] Cotton Eye Joe.
[00:26:58] Oprah Gangnam Style.
[00:26:59] Can I ask you a quick question about Cotton Eye Joe?
[00:27:03] Yeah.
[00:27:03] So where did he.
[00:27:05] Two questions.
[00:27:06] You have to tell.
[00:27:07] Two questions mainly.
[00:27:08] Do you need an answer?
[00:27:09] You can ask both of them.
[00:27:10] Well, first, yes.
[00:27:11] In a sense, I want to know where he came from.
[00:27:14] Almost more importantly, though, I want to know where he goes.
[00:27:17] The beach.
[00:27:17] I heard he went to the beach.
[00:27:19] I don't know either of those, but I can tell you this.
[00:27:21] What's that?
[00:27:21] If it wasn't for him, I'd have been married a long time ago.
[00:27:25] How's that related?
[00:27:27] I'm giving you all the information I have here, Brian.
[00:27:30] If it wasn't for him, I'd have been married a long time ago.
[00:27:36] But Cotton Eye Joe's in the mix.
[00:27:40] Next day, they go down to the water, and he's like, tell Dolphin to do flip.
[00:27:44] And she's like, meh.
[00:27:45] And they start doing flips.
[00:27:47] So she's really like, it's like when you start to learn how to use your superpower,
[00:27:51] like in the superhero movies.
[00:27:53] But she actually gets it really quickly.
[00:27:55] So it actually is barely an inconvenience for her.
[00:27:58] Zach shows up and is like, let's go.
[00:28:02] We got to.
[00:28:03] I want to be with you and you want to be with me.
[00:28:05] Let's go.
[00:28:05] So he is like speed demon and plays a game of chicken with her, tries to kill her.
[00:28:14] And she's like, you've gone too far this time, buckaroo.
[00:28:17] So that night, Vicky wakes up to her grandfather on the ground, clearly confused.
[00:28:24] So you're saying playing chicken with a boat is not the best way to win a girl over it?
[00:28:27] It didn't work in this case.
[00:28:28] No.
[00:28:29] Grandfather's on the ground.
[00:28:30] The ladies love that in my experience.
[00:28:31] Yeah.
[00:28:31] What's the percentage of that winning?
[00:28:34] Dude, when I was in high school, that was my move.
[00:28:37] Eight?
[00:28:37] Take a girl out of the boat.
[00:28:39] Played chicken with a giant boat.
[00:28:41] It's awesome.
[00:28:42] It's not zero.
[00:28:43] I'm sure there's somebody that that works for.
[00:28:46] There's somebody that that works for.
[00:28:47] Yeah.
[00:28:47] There's something for everybody.
[00:28:49] There is somebody.
[00:28:50] Eights may be high.
[00:28:51] Eight is high.
[00:28:52] But there is somebody.
[00:28:53] There's somebody.
[00:28:54] Oh.
[00:28:55] The girl in Footloose.
[00:28:57] It would work for her.
[00:28:57] Okay.
[00:28:58] Yeah.
[00:28:58] Yeah, yeah.
[00:28:59] So girl for Footloose.
[00:29:00] Girl for Footloose.
[00:29:02] That night, Vicky wakes up.
[00:29:05] Yeah.
[00:29:07] Grandfather is on the ground.
[00:29:08] She doesn't work out with Kevin Bacon.
[00:29:08] Yeah, of course.
[00:29:09] It's definitely working out for Kevin Bacon.
[00:29:11] Are you kidding me right now?
[00:29:13] It's Kevin Bacon.
[00:29:14] Grandfather's clearly confused.
[00:29:16] He calls her by his wife's name.
[00:29:19] She starts shaking her grandfather.
[00:29:22] He's like, I'm not your...
[00:29:23] I'm Vicky.
[00:29:23] I'm Vicky.
[00:29:24] Grandma's gone.
[00:29:25] And so he's like, let's go downstairs and I'll tell you a story.
[00:29:29] And he's like, here's the story.
[00:29:30] I have leukemia and I'm going to die.
[00:29:34] But I feel good about it.
[00:29:37] And then he's like, he gives a poem and it's a whole thing.
[00:29:40] Yeah.
[00:29:41] Somewhere in the poem, it says a ring of endless light.
[00:29:43] Yes.
[00:29:44] Yep.
[00:29:44] We did that.
[00:29:45] And like...
[00:29:45] A ring of pure and endless light.
[00:29:47] All is calm.
[00:29:48] All is bright.
[00:29:49] Yeah.
[00:29:49] I'm kind of glad they did shorten that movie title down.
[00:29:52] Round the Virgin and stuff.
[00:29:55] Merry Christmas.
[00:29:56] Yeah.
[00:29:56] Merry Christmas.
[00:29:56] Sorry.
[00:29:56] Happy Halloween.
[00:29:57] Spooky.
[00:29:57] This is our costume.
[00:30:00] This is it.
[00:30:01] It's Christmas.
[00:30:02] And so the next day, they get words, hey, you're going to want to come out here.
[00:30:10] This is crazy stuff from Zach.
[00:30:12] Zach's like, hey, I've got eyes on them.
[00:30:15] And so they come out and they are like, okay, where do we go?
[00:30:19] What do we do?
[00:30:20] And Vicky's like, follow the dolphin.
[00:30:23] And he's like, okay, they follow the dolphin out and they find that one of the other dolphins
[00:30:29] is caught in...
[00:30:31] Lucy or Enid.
[00:30:31] Lucy or Dynamite.
[00:30:32] Enid.
[00:30:33] Or Basil.
[00:30:35] Basil.
[00:30:37] And one of the dolphins is in the nets.
[00:30:40] And so they're like, oh my gosh, what are we going to do?
[00:30:43] They call a policeman, harbormaster.
[00:30:47] Dan.
[00:30:48] Dan.
[00:30:48] Dan's like, okay, I'm on it.
[00:30:50] Grandpa comes and says, I'm feeling great today.
[00:30:53] I want to go with you.
[00:30:55] They realize...
[00:30:56] Before I leave this earth, I would like to do a ride along.
[00:30:58] It's been my dying wish.
[00:31:00] You want a ride along.
[00:31:01] It's ride along.
[00:31:02] And that's fair.
[00:31:03] And that actually was the motivation for the movie Ride Along.
[00:31:06] People don't know that.
[00:31:10] So they realize that they're beginning to pull in the net.
[00:31:13] So they're going to have to break the dolphin free before they get the net in there.
[00:31:19] So they find pliers or something.
[00:31:22] Yeah.
[00:31:23] They find something that isn't very efficient.
[00:31:26] She's in the water first.
[00:31:27] Adam finds the...
[00:31:29] Luckily, there's a toolbox on the boat.
[00:31:32] Finds the pliers, does a full double pump jump into the water.
[00:31:37] And they're able to free the dolphin.
[00:31:40] But in the process, Adam's foot gets caught.
[00:31:45] He's down in the water for a long time.
[00:31:47] A very long time.
[00:31:49] And then dolphin saves him because he is dolphin, by understanding.
[00:31:54] And by the time they come out of the water, police chief, harbormaster Dan and grandpa,
[00:32:02] they've shown up.
[00:32:03] They've seen what's going on here.
[00:32:05] And everybody is pumped.
[00:32:07] Everybody is happy.
[00:32:07] We get a beautiful line from Zachary who's on his boat.
[00:32:10] He yells up, hey, captain, you're busted.
[00:32:14] Nailed it.
[00:32:15] The end.
[00:32:16] They get back to the harbor and Zach sees Adam and Vicky holding hands.
[00:32:24] And he says, don't you show my face in this movie ever again.
[00:32:28] We never see him again.
[00:32:30] Which I feel like in that moment, it was more of like a you almost died.
[00:32:34] Are you okay?
[00:32:34] Handhold.
[00:32:35] Yeah.
[00:32:36] But we don't know what happened.
[00:32:37] We never saw Zach again.
[00:32:39] So.
[00:32:39] Yeah.
[00:32:39] Deuces.
[00:32:40] I'm sure he's doing well.
[00:32:41] Yeah.
[00:32:41] I'm sure he's doing well.
[00:32:42] Things to do.
[00:32:44] Demons to hunt.
[00:32:45] Rory's heart to break.
[00:32:47] No kidding.
[00:32:50] He's so stupid.
[00:32:52] He's so stupid.
[00:32:53] Yes.
[00:32:54] The worst for Rory.
[00:32:55] No question about it.
[00:32:56] You know who's, Dean is not clock.
[00:33:00] He's counter?
[00:33:01] He's counter.
[00:33:02] Yeah.
[00:33:03] So grandpa dies and that's sad.
[00:33:06] We hate that.
[00:33:07] But it does leave her with another book to write poems in, which is a big part.
[00:33:12] Yeah.
[00:33:12] As we know from the eight books, very important.
[00:33:14] She's really big on her poetry.
[00:33:16] Really big on poetry.
[00:33:16] So he gets this nice like bound book that says, you know, Vicky's poems volume two.
[00:33:21] Yes.
[00:33:22] Mom and dad show up.
[00:33:23] They're going to take them back to their home.
[00:33:26] Which is?
[00:33:28] Not here.
[00:33:30] She sees Adam and Adam is like, all right.
[00:33:33] And she's like, you better.
[00:33:35] She kisses him on the cheek.
[00:33:40] She's like, I know I've kissed you 20 times already, but my parents are watching.
[00:33:44] So it's a cheek kiss.
[00:33:45] And that's the end.
[00:33:45] That's the end of the movie.
[00:33:47] Yeah.
[00:33:47] Let's ring a villain slide, everybody.
[00:33:48] Okay.
[00:33:49] Let's take a quick break.
[00:33:50] We'll come back and we will break this movie down.
[00:33:52] We'll share our thoughts.
[00:33:54] No, we already broke it down.
[00:33:55] We're going to talk about how it aged over time.
[00:33:57] No, we're going to do it again.
[00:33:58] We're going to do it so good.
[00:33:59] Let's do another one.
[00:34:00] Decom Descendants.
[00:34:09] Welcome back, everybody.
[00:34:10] Decom Descendants.
[00:34:11] Time to break down.
[00:34:12] Bring it on, bring it on the slides to the movie.
[00:34:14] Kicks off.
[00:34:15] So for every movie, I come up with a snack or a drink.
[00:34:19] Yes.
[00:34:20] Yeah.
[00:34:21] Decom.
[00:34:22] Delish.
[00:34:24] It's time for delish.
[00:34:25] Calm, Chatsy.
[00:34:26] This is counter clock.
[00:34:27] That's what we're doing.
[00:34:29] Let's get to overtime.
[00:34:30] So we're talking about how the movie aged over time, our thoughts on it, if we had seen
[00:34:34] it before and all that good stuff.
[00:34:35] But I got some letterbox reviews if you'd like me to read those.
[00:34:39] Tori says, one star.
[00:34:41] Too much Christianity.
[00:34:42] Oh, boy.
[00:34:43] For a movie about telepathic dolphins.
[00:34:46] Serena Sprout says, one star.
[00:34:49] They did Zach so dirty.
[00:34:51] Gave him a whole arc and depth and then just forgot about him in the end.
[00:34:55] I'm pissy AF.
[00:34:56] Emily says, I watched this on one and a half speed on YouTube, which about sums this movie
[00:35:01] up.
[00:35:02] McGray says, do not fall for the dolphin propaganda.
[00:35:06] Them bees is evil.
[00:35:09] A.E.
[00:35:10] says, two stars.
[00:35:11] This is the only Lord of the Rings movie I've seen.
[00:35:15] Miriam Claire says, one star.
[00:35:17] God is a dolphin.
[00:35:19] And Misha Barton is Jesus.
[00:35:21] And Nolan says, half a star.
[00:35:23] I have three unwatched Criterion Blu-rays sitting on my dresser.
[00:35:27] It's time for us to give our thoughts on this movie.
[00:35:31] I'll start with you, Aaron.
[00:35:33] Aaron, I don't think either of us had seen this movie before.
[00:35:35] I have seen it.
[00:35:35] You had seen it.
[00:35:36] Okay.
[00:35:36] I had not, but you had.
[00:35:39] So how did it age for you as someone who has seen it back then and now and just your general
[00:35:44] thoughts on the movie?
[00:35:45] Yeah.
[00:35:45] I mean, if you had asked me prior to watching this movie today, what was movies about?
[00:35:50] All I could have told you was that it was Misha Barton and I thought dolphins were in
[00:35:55] it.
[00:35:56] So you were right.
[00:35:57] I was right.
[00:35:58] About both of those things.
[00:35:59] But those are the only two things I remembered about this movie.
[00:36:02] Um, I think I saw it once when it first aired and then maybe never again.
[00:36:08] Um, and watching it today, none of it stuck with me.
[00:36:11] It was like watching it for the first time.
[00:36:16] Um, and I think the only way I would watch this movie again is with Brandon Dan.
[00:36:23] Um, I don't know if I'm ever going to watch this movie, like home on a Friday night being
[00:36:28] like, I'm bored.
[00:36:29] What should I watch?
[00:36:30] Don't think this is ever going to make the cut.
[00:36:32] Um, I think I'd rather watch gotta kick it up maybe.
[00:36:37] Um, but yeah, I don't know.
[00:36:38] I don't think it really aged well in that.
[00:36:41] I don't think it did anything.
[00:36:42] And so it's kind of hard to say whether it aged or not.
[00:36:44] Like, I don't know.
[00:36:46] I feel like nothing happened in this movie.
[00:36:48] Misha kissed some guys.
[00:36:50] There was a couple dolphins.
[00:36:54] That's all I've gotten to talk.
[00:36:56] Misha kissed some guys.
[00:36:57] There was a couple dolphins.
[00:36:58] I mean, does that not?
[00:36:59] No, that's about it.
[00:37:01] So I knew we were in for a treat with this movie when Adam turned into dolphin or dolphin
[00:37:06] turned into Adam.
[00:37:07] She was kissing dolphin, uh, in her dream, which they don't touch on that at all.
[00:37:12] And then, uh, Adam dolphin turns into Adam.
[00:37:17] And, uh, what was it?
[00:37:19] What was this movie?
[00:37:21] I don't know.
[00:37:22] It's such an odd thing.
[00:37:23] I feel like, especially early on.
[00:37:26] And I know we're 40 movies in at this point, but I still feel like D comms are kind of
[00:37:30] a wide spectrum of who is this for?
[00:37:35] There are movies that are very clearly for like eight year olds.
[00:37:39] And then there's movies where it's like, this is like teenagers going, going on dates and
[00:37:45] sending each other flowers.
[00:37:46] And it's just like, what is this?
[00:37:48] What is this movie?
[00:37:50] Like this one's based on a book.
[00:37:52] So they do have several like candle worms based on books.
[00:37:54] They have several movies where they took a book and made it movie.
[00:37:57] Then there's a bunch that are based on true stories.
[00:38:00] Then you've got a bunch of just zany.
[00:38:02] This movie felt more for teams though.
[00:38:04] Did it not?
[00:38:05] It felt more geared towards teams.
[00:38:07] It is like a wide arc of themes.
[00:38:08] Especially with the amount of kisses.
[00:38:10] It's a wide arc of ages.
[00:38:11] Like some are clearly for eight year olds.
[00:38:13] Yes.
[00:38:13] Yeah.
[00:38:14] So it's interesting.
[00:38:15] I feel like the marketing is weird.
[00:38:16] Maybe I'm like misremembering, but I feel like they find a sweet spot where everything
[00:38:21] is for eight to 12 year olds at a certain point.
[00:38:24] Um, I don't, this movie is weird.
[00:38:26] It's all over the place.
[00:38:27] It's wacky.
[00:38:28] And I never knew what was going to happen next.
[00:38:30] It's some of the worst performances we've seen.
[00:38:33] One of the worst scripts.
[00:38:35] I had a fantastic time for what that's worth.
[00:38:38] I agree with all that.
[00:38:40] So really tough movie to rank, but glad we watched it.
[00:38:46] Dan?
[00:38:47] Yeah.
[00:38:47] If this movie is about, is it good?
[00:38:49] It is not good.
[00:38:52] Um, Misha Barton, God lover, uh, is a treat to watch in this movie.
[00:38:56] Uh, every line is its own little journey.
[00:39:01] Hey Dan.
[00:39:01] Hey Dan.
[00:39:02] Yeah.
[00:39:03] Have you ever thought about if, if we didn't have hands, what would you do?
[00:39:07] What would happen?
[00:39:08] There'd be no writing.
[00:39:09] There'd be no writing.
[00:39:11] It'd be the end of writing.
[00:39:12] Everything else would be normal, but we couldn't write anything.
[00:39:15] Um, I had a blast for the first 50 minutes to an hour of this.
[00:39:21] The last 20 minutes is an eternity.
[00:39:23] It's still going on somewhere.
[00:39:26] The first hour is in.
[00:39:27] Well, it is a ring of endless light.
[00:39:29] Yes.
[00:39:29] It's purely in the so bad.
[00:39:32] It's good camp.
[00:39:33] The last 20 is in the so bad.
[00:39:35] Make it stop.
[00:39:36] Please make it stop.
[00:39:37] Dear God.
[00:39:37] Why isn't it stopped yet camp?
[00:39:38] And so James Whitmore is above all of this.
[00:39:42] He's really good.
[00:39:43] The rest of this movie is terrible, but in about the funnest way possible, at least for the first two thirds of this movie.
[00:39:49] So yeah, a tough one to rank, but make no mistake.
[00:39:52] Not good.
[00:39:53] I think that's the big takeaway here, but a different version of not good.
[00:39:57] Yeah.
[00:39:57] I mean like different, like, you know, true confessions.
[00:40:02] Well acted, hated it, got me very angry.
[00:40:05] This movie, not well acted, didn't get me angry at all.
[00:40:09] And those two movies are next to each other in my rankings.
[00:40:12] So they are there for very different reasons.
[00:40:15] All right.
[00:40:16] Well, let's get to those rankings, shall we?
[00:40:18] It's time to make the list.
[00:40:19] It's where we tell everybody where this movie lands on our list and all that good stuff.
[00:40:23] Erin, where do you have this one hanging out?
[00:40:25] Do you know yet?
[00:40:26] Yeah.
[00:40:28] It's funny that you should say where it is on your ranking, Dan, because mine is right next to True Confessions as well.
[00:40:33] Oh my gosh.
[00:40:33] There you go.
[00:40:35] So this movie is coming in at number 31.
[00:40:39] Yeah.
[00:40:40] Right above Hounded and right behind True Confessions.
[00:40:42] Oh my gosh.
[00:40:43] Look.
[00:40:45] 30.
[00:40:46] Oh, we have True Confessions and Hounded.
[00:40:47] We flipped them, but yeah.
[00:40:49] Yeah.
[00:40:49] I just can't do that one scene in Hounded again.
[00:40:51] But isn't that crazy?
[00:40:52] Those three movies are the same exact place?
[00:40:54] It's almost like it's where they belong.
[00:40:55] Yeah.
[00:40:56] Yeah.
[00:40:57] So the movie was bonkers.
[00:41:00] I never want to watch it again unless you guys decided we were going to rewatch.
[00:41:04] I mean, this is a good drinking movie.
[00:41:07] I mean, it's a good one of those.
[00:41:09] Yeah.
[00:41:10] If you were going to like take a shot every time somebody says, you know, whatever, you know, find something.
[00:41:16] There is a part of this movie where if you did a shot every time someone said the word hand, you'd be dead.
[00:41:22] Oh.
[00:41:23] Dead.
[00:41:23] From like a seven minute portion of this movie.
[00:41:27] Drink the whole bottle if you see Dolphin Childbirth.
[00:41:31] I mean, that's not going to happen.
[00:41:32] Oh, no.
[00:41:33] It's happening.
[00:41:34] Yeah.
[00:41:35] It's this movie is wild.
[00:41:36] So, yeah.
[00:41:37] 31.
[00:41:38] I don't really see it getting any higher.
[00:41:41] We'll find out.
[00:41:43] Top 10.
[00:41:44] I don't think has changed since last week.
[00:41:45] We got Xenon at 10.
[00:41:47] 9.
[00:41:48] Luck of the Irish.
[00:41:49] 8.
[00:41:50] Halloween Town.
[00:41:50] 7.
[00:41:51] Get a Clue.
[00:41:52] 6.
[00:41:52] Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:41:53] 5.
[00:41:54] Smart House.
[00:41:55] 4.
[00:41:56] Miracle Lane 2.
[00:41:57] 3.
[00:41:57] Johnny Tsunami.
[00:41:58] 2.
[00:41:59] Cadet Kelly.
[00:42:00] And 1.
[00:42:01] Motocrossed.
[00:42:03] So, I have a list of six movies that I just consider to be downright bad movies.
[00:42:12] Ready to Run.
[00:42:13] Jenny Project.
[00:42:13] Under Wraps.
[00:42:14] Lucky Dog.
[00:42:15] Rip Girls.
[00:42:16] Hounded.
[00:42:17] And so, I have this movie.
[00:42:18] I'm with you on a lot of those.
[00:42:19] I have this movie right above those.
[00:42:22] I have it at 34.
[00:42:23] Okay.
[00:42:24] So, it's in front of Hounded.
[00:42:26] And it's right.
[00:42:27] 33 is Horse Sense.
[00:42:30] So, it's right behind Horse Sense.
[00:42:32] So, I have it better than the worst movies on my list.
[00:42:36] Because it should be one of the worst movies.
[00:42:39] But I had fun.
[00:42:41] So, that's why I put it there.
[00:42:44] I got the same top ten.
[00:42:45] But it's double teamed.
[00:42:46] Phantom.
[00:42:47] Mom's Got a Date.
[00:42:48] Luck of the Irish.
[00:42:50] Smart House.
[00:42:51] Cadet Kelly.
[00:42:52] Get a Clue.
[00:42:53] Motocrossed.
[00:42:53] Johnny Tsunami.
[00:42:55] And the greatest movie of all time.
[00:42:56] Brink.
[00:42:56] I love that by the end of this, there's going to be roughly a consensus.
[00:43:01] Like, right now, there's like six or seven movies that all three of us have in the top ten.
[00:43:07] And so, that is impressive considering our varying backgrounds that that's happening.
[00:43:12] That should tell you there's a pretty clear line.
[00:43:14] This is 30 for me.
[00:43:16] 30 for me.
[00:43:17] Wow.
[00:43:17] In between Hounded and True Confessions.
[00:43:21] I got a lot of those movies in my bottom ten, too, Brink.
[00:43:24] And I think...
[00:43:25] So, I have it lower than all of you do.
[00:43:27] But Stepsister from Planet Weird, you didn't mention that one.
[00:43:31] No, I didn't.
[00:43:31] That's at the bottom of my list.
[00:43:33] So, like that one, Jenny Project, You Lucky Dog, Rip Girls, Ready to Run, 13th year in the sequel, and then Horse Sense and Under Raps.
[00:43:42] Do you think Stepsister's in that category?
[00:43:44] I think Stepsister's the worst movie I've seen so far.
[00:43:46] That's crazy.
[00:43:47] But I'd be willing to, you know, reconsider.
[00:43:49] I had that at 21.
[00:43:50] Wow, look at you.
[00:43:51] For a second, I thought you were saying you were going to re-watch it.
[00:43:53] No, reconsider at best.
[00:43:55] Where do you have Stepsister, Aaron?
[00:43:57] Do you know?
[00:43:59] Worst is really surprising to me for that one.
[00:44:03] 33.
[00:44:04] Okay.
[00:44:04] Yeah.
[00:44:05] Yeah.
[00:44:05] So, maybe I'm a little hard on it at worst.
[00:44:07] I could be...
[00:44:07] That could be the case.
[00:44:08] I think if you're judging purely on, like, plot and acting, it's pretty bad.
[00:44:14] But it was a good time.
[00:44:15] Like, it makes me laugh.
[00:44:16] If you're judging on plot and acting...
[00:44:18] Like, it's zany.
[00:44:19] It has some hijinks.
[00:44:21] Yeah.
[00:44:21] Whereas movies like Ready to Run, that's just a tough watch.
[00:44:24] It didn't do that for me.
[00:44:25] It just was...
[00:44:26] It was bad plot, bad acting, and actively bad as a movie, in my opinion.
[00:44:30] Yeah.
[00:44:31] I think if you had seen it when you were 10, it's zany hijinks.
[00:44:33] Worse may be a stretch.
[00:44:34] You're right.
[00:44:35] Yeah.
[00:44:36] Quinn's 10.
[00:44:36] Nine Brink.
[00:44:38] Eight, Miracle on Lane 2.
[00:44:39] Seven, Halloweentown.
[00:44:40] Six, Get a Clue.
[00:44:41] Five, Cadet Kelly.
[00:44:42] Four, Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:44:43] Three, Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire.
[00:44:44] Two, Johnny Tsunami.
[00:44:45] And one, Bestie Com by far, Motocrossed.
[00:44:49] There you go, everybody.
[00:44:51] There you go.
[00:44:52] Another one in the books.
[00:44:53] We're going to be back next week with...
[00:44:59] Oh!
[00:45:00] It's the day after Halloween, but it's the Scream Team.
[00:45:03] Scream Team.
[00:45:04] So, Halloween movie, maybe?
[00:45:06] Maybe.
[00:45:06] Sounds scary, right?
[00:45:06] Christmas movie?
[00:45:07] It's a Halloween movie.
[00:45:08] Okay, great.
[00:45:09] So, we'll be back next week with that one.
[00:45:11] Anything else for the people?
[00:45:12] Leave a review.
[00:45:14] Yes, please do.
