[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.
[00:00:06] Another episode of the DCOM Descendants.
[00:00:26] It's great to be here today.
[00:00:27] Oh boy.
[00:00:28] Another week.
[00:00:30] Can you believe that?
[00:00:31] Yeah, I can.
[00:00:32] In fact, in this podcast is taking the rage by storm.
[00:00:36] It is.
[00:00:37] Is it?
[00:00:37] Yeah.
[00:00:38] We are, I think as of this airing like over 20,000 downloads.
[00:00:43] Wow.
[00:00:44] Like a dozen episodes, getting a lot of reviews and ratings.
[00:00:48] I love that.
[00:00:49] Speaking, speaking of the ratings, we're up to 63, which isn't bad.
[00:00:54] It's not bad.
[00:00:55] It's not 100, but it's not bad.
[00:00:57] What are we doing?
[00:00:58] 100 by season 100?
[00:01:00] Season 100.
[00:01:01] 100, 100 now.
[00:01:02] Are there seasons of this show?
[00:01:03] 100 by episode 100.
[00:01:05] Yeah, we can do that.
[00:01:05] Oh, we had better.
[00:01:07] How about 100 by episode 20?
[00:01:08] Where are we at right now?
[00:01:09] How about 1000 by episode 100?
[00:01:10] Are we on episode 14?
[00:01:12] Yeah.
[00:01:12] Yes.
[00:01:13] How about 1000 by episode 100?
[00:01:14] Okay.
[00:01:16] Wow.
[00:01:16] It's bold.
[00:01:17] Bold.
[00:01:17] It's a year and a half.
[00:01:19] It's a year and a half.
[00:01:19] And how many hats from lids will you give me if we get there?
[00:01:22] Well, I will not give you any hats for lids.
[00:01:26] Oh, I just noticed a new thing.
[00:01:29] That's poking out.
[00:01:31] Yeah.
[00:01:31] They're umbrellas for April showers.
[00:01:33] I love that.
[00:01:33] How about this?
[00:01:34] That's fun.
[00:01:34] It's April sometime after the 15th.
[00:01:37] So yeah, it's about time to change the decor.
[00:01:39] How about at 100, if we get to 100, we'll get the Alley Cat bowling shirts matching.
[00:01:47] Okay.
[00:01:47] Save it.
[00:01:48] But we got to get it by a certain amount of time.
[00:01:52] Like we can't just at any point because those shirts are expensive.
[00:01:54] Can we get to 100 by 20?
[00:01:56] We got six episodes to get there.
[00:01:57] Is that doable?
[00:01:58] I think we can get to 100 by 20 and we know more of you are listening to this.
[00:02:01] Let's go hard.
[00:02:02] Come on.
[00:02:03] If you want to see us in some Alley Cat strike bowling jersey.
[00:02:05] You don't got to write a whole thing.
[00:02:07] Just five spots.
[00:02:08] M two, three, one nine said five star brilliant.
[00:02:10] No notes.
[00:02:11] No notes.
[00:02:11] That's all they said.
[00:02:12] And that's all we need.
[00:02:13] Great.
[00:02:13] We don't need notes.
[00:02:14] That's all we need.
[00:02:15] That's affirming enough.
[00:02:16] Super kind.
[00:02:17] If this is your first episode here, welcome.
[00:02:19] Really weird to start with the Alley Cat strike episode.
[00:02:21] I got to be honest with you.
[00:02:22] I don't, I literally haven't met a soul who, who's, who, who's like, man,
[00:02:27] I just am dying to hear people's opinions on Alley Cat strike.
[00:02:31] Maybe they did.
[00:02:32] Maybe they didn't.
[00:02:32] We'll shout out to you.
[00:02:33] But this is a very simple show.
[00:02:35] We watch a decom.
[00:02:36] Dan hasn't seen any decoms.
[00:02:38] Correct.
[00:02:38] Aaron and I have seen a lot.
[00:02:40] Some of them we haven't seen since they originally aired, since they
[00:02:43] originally aired or in general.
[00:02:45] But we are fans.
[00:02:46] We are decom fans.
[00:02:48] Dan is slowly finding his way there.
[00:02:50] I mean, I'm not, not a fan.
[00:02:51] I'm somewhere in the, in the mix there.
[00:02:53] I think Dan has kind of agreed that if he watched them at eight or
[00:02:58] nine, I think I would have been a big thing.
[00:03:00] But when we were watching them, you were not eight or nine.
[00:03:03] And so it's just a missed opportunity.
[00:03:06] Missed opportunity for me.
[00:03:07] That's exactly right.
[00:03:08] Today we are talking about the bowling juggernaut that is Alley Cat
[00:03:14] strike, but we can't get there unless we have something to, to, to
[00:03:19] enjoy as we talk about this movie.
[00:03:23] It's time for delish.
[00:03:26] So what do we have for delish today?
[00:03:29] You're just going to cut right through that beautiful music.
[00:03:30] Hold on.
[00:03:31] Yeah.
[00:03:31] Let it, let it ride.
[00:03:32] Do we always just let it marinate?
[00:03:33] Let the music just roll.
[00:03:34] It sets the tone.
[00:03:36] These episodes are now in.
[00:03:37] Aaron, you, uh, you have given this a lot of thought.
[00:03:42] Yeah.
[00:03:43] What do I do?
[00:03:45] What do I bring for a bowling themed movie?
[00:03:47] See these delish is, uh, you can, you can watch us on YouTube because
[00:03:52] we do have the, we are on the YouTube.
[00:03:54] Um, and you can find that link in the bio on our socials at decom
[00:03:58] descendants.
[00:03:58] I mean, come on.
[00:03:59] Um, so today we have a banana split cocktail.
[00:04:05] Okay.
[00:04:05] I see what's happening.
[00:04:06] Kind of there.
[00:04:07] Come on in.
[00:04:07] That's fine.
[00:04:09] So you, you scoot your, scoot your.
[00:04:11] This is where I sit.
[00:04:12] This is fine.
[00:04:13] We're fine here.
[00:04:14] Um, yeah.
[00:04:15] So there is a big part of this bowling movie juggernaut, if you would,
[00:04:20] um, a seven, 10, 10 split.
[00:04:23] Yeah.
[00:04:23] So the part of this movie, um, and they do drink milkshakes
[00:04:27] and go off ice cream Sundays.
[00:04:28] They like to the diner frequent the diner.
[00:04:30] Yeah.
[00:04:31] Put both of those ideas together.
[00:04:32] I said, I wonder if a banana split cocktail exists.
[00:04:35] And the internet said yes.
[00:04:37] And then you've, you've made us one.
[00:04:38] And then I've actually done the chocolate syrup all around the, if you
[00:04:42] could get a close up on one of them, Brian, I mean, I like, look at that.
[00:04:46] It's unbelievable.
[00:04:48] And that one didn't look as good.
[00:04:51] The one that brand looked like it just spilled.
[00:04:53] It didn't look as these.
[00:04:55] I mean, like, and we gave Brian that one on purpose, but
[00:04:58] these look unbelievable.
[00:04:59] Look unbelievable.
[00:05:00] So, uh, so this is supposed to take light tastes like chocolatey
[00:05:03] banana fun times.
[00:05:05] Here we go.
[00:05:06] All right.
[00:05:06] Here we go.
[00:05:12] Tastes like chocolatey banana.
[00:05:16] So Brian doesn't like banana flavored things.
[00:05:20] No, it's not that I actually, once I, so I didn't expect chunks.
[00:05:29] There were like some chocolate bits at the bottom and I wasn't expecting
[00:05:33] I didn't expect chunks.
[00:05:34] I wasn't, I didn't.
[00:05:35] You can leave that as a review.
[00:05:36] That's a good, that's a good
[00:05:38] shirt too.
[00:05:38] Five stars.
[00:05:39] I didn't expect chunks.
[00:05:40] Yeah.
[00:05:41] Yeah.
[00:05:41] Uh, I didn't expect them.
[00:05:43] There's a lot of chocolate like bits at the bottom and I just
[00:05:46] wasn't expecting it.
[00:05:47] Part of that is the big straw.
[00:05:49] Yeah.
[00:05:49] Um, but the, I think the flavor, the taste is there.
[00:05:54] You know me.
[00:05:54] I'm just a big texture boy.
[00:05:55] I need to, I like to know what I'm getting into.
[00:05:57] I'm not a fan of almost any fruit flavor liqueur of any kind.
[00:06:01] Um, the chocolate bits kind of save it for me.
[00:06:03] I think it starts off and I'm like, no, I'm not going to like this.
[00:06:06] But then the chocolate kind of takes over and it tastes like a good milkshake.
[00:06:12] Well, there you go.
[00:06:12] It's Jenny's, very yummy chocolate ice cream.
[00:06:14] Ah, that helps.
[00:06:15] It is very yummy.
[00:06:16] I will say I knew that you were not going to love this and I figured how
[00:06:20] could I maybe get him a little bit there and I went for Jenny's chocolate.
[00:06:23] Here's what we're going to do.
[00:06:26] Trying to know my audience a little bit.
[00:06:27] We're going to take a quick break.
[00:06:28] We'll come back, make this during the break everybody and come back.
[00:06:30] We'll talk about Alley Cat Strike here on Decon to Summit.
[00:06:37] So close.
[00:06:39] Getting there gang.
[00:06:42] I really like chocolate bananas on the back.
[00:06:45] Welcome back everybody to Decon to Cendence.
[00:06:47] I will say this, it does taste like it's something I ordered at a bar.
[00:06:51] Like it does have that level of expertise to it.
[00:06:53] So well done on that front.
[00:06:55] And it really is giving me like ice cream Sunday vibes.
[00:06:58] Yeah.
[00:06:58] That might be the aftertaste of banana in there, but it's good.
[00:07:01] I don't taste a ton of banana.
[00:07:02] I think I could use a little bit more.
[00:07:03] No, I got more.
[00:07:04] No?
[00:07:05] I think there's a good.
[00:07:06] Did you make them all in a blender?
[00:07:08] What'd you do?
[00:07:08] Yeah.
[00:07:09] Okay.
[00:07:09] I was going to say, try mine, but they taste the same.
[00:07:12] I think if it's one blender, one bang of one.
[00:07:14] Call me crazy.
[00:07:15] Erin.
[00:07:16] I could have done each one separately, but I just made it.
[00:07:18] Could you use more banana?
[00:07:19] Let me see it.
[00:07:20] Could you use more banana?
[00:07:22] I mean, I like banana and chocolate together a lot.
[00:07:28] So I wouldn't mind more banana.
[00:07:31] A little bit more banana.
[00:07:32] I don't know if anybody besides me remembers this, but when Tarzan came out,
[00:07:36] that beautiful Disney classic, I think it was McDonald's, but it could have just
[00:07:42] been anywhere.
[00:07:43] But they had chocolate bars filled with banana cream and I was obsessed with them.
[00:07:50] That's a, that's what to take.
[00:07:52] It's it's like a member.
[00:07:53] I can't, I want to say I got it.
[00:07:55] McDonald's or anywhere else.
[00:07:58] In my mind, I think all like McClury's, I think as a child, like everything came
[00:08:02] from McDonald's.
[00:08:03] Yeah.
[00:08:03] So it may not have, but in my mind it was like going to the McDonald's drive
[00:08:06] through, I would get a Tarzan chocolate bar and a chocolate bar from McDonald's.
[00:08:10] I don't know.
[00:08:11] I don't know.
[00:08:12] Let's, I'm going to Google.
[00:08:13] Let's talk.
[00:08:14] You know, takes it away.
[00:08:16] Let's talk.
[00:08:17] Alley cat strike.
[00:08:18] Disney channel original movie from March 18th, 2000, the year 2000.
[00:08:23] I mean, I guess I'm going to do that whole year.
[00:08:25] And this was directed by Rod Daniel.
[00:08:29] Oh, we might know Rod Daniel who has directed smash hits such as teen wolf.
[00:08:35] Oh, he directed the teen wolf.
[00:08:37] Teen Michael J.
[00:08:38] Fox.
[00:08:39] Yes.
[00:08:40] Wow.
[00:08:40] Which Dan, you and I have watched for a ticket to the table.
[00:08:44] We watch, we watch.
[00:08:45] Teen.
[00:08:45] We want both of them.
[00:08:46] We want both of them.
[00:08:47] You're right.
[00:08:48] Come on now.
[00:08:48] Sorry.
[00:08:49] Take the tape.com or just get it.
[00:08:51] Brimel and post.com.
[00:08:52] You can get the show ad free and all the ticket to the tapes.
[00:08:55] Pretty crazy.
[00:08:56] It's a lot happening.
[00:08:56] I think we're giving too much away.
[00:08:57] We are.
[00:08:58] Give it away.
[00:08:59] Uh, big, big cast.
[00:09:02] Uh, Kyle Schmid is going to be schmied right?
[00:09:06] It can't be schmied.
[00:09:07] S C H Schmid.
[00:09:09] What with a D on the end.
[00:09:10] Yeah.
[00:09:10] Schmied.
[00:09:11] I taught a kid.
[00:09:12] How do you know?
[00:09:12] Like what, what about that word?
[00:09:15] I taught a kid whose last name was S C H M I D and their mom told me
[00:09:21] the history of the name and origin and why it was schmied.
[00:09:24] That's why.
[00:09:25] But what I'm asking is if you were me, would you have gotten there?
[00:09:29] I would have said schmied, but I don't know if that's because
[00:09:33] of my background or not.
[00:09:34] Cause if it's a T at the end, you're saying Schmit Schmit.
[00:09:37] Yes.
[00:09:38] The T would make it Schmit.
[00:09:39] Yeah, of course.
[00:09:40] Yeah.
[00:09:40] It might be Schmid.
[00:09:41] I don't know.
[00:09:41] I only, like I said, Robert Richard, Kaylee, Cuoco, Cuoco, Big Bang Theory.
[00:09:48] Kaylee Cuoco, a big cast, big cast.
[00:09:51] Tim Reed.
[00:09:53] Tim Reed is in it, of course.
[00:09:55] Let's dive into it.
[00:09:56] Here's what you need to know.
[00:09:57] Alex is a part of a gang.
[00:09:59] This gang is...
[00:10:01] Gang is a strong word.
[00:10:03] This is not a gang in the sense in which you're thinking.
[00:10:08] No.
[00:10:08] This is a gang that is obsessed with bowling.
[00:10:11] And the 50s.
[00:10:12] And the 50s and like swing music and like buying used bowling shirts, etc.
[00:10:20] Bobby socks.
[00:10:21] They love it.
[00:10:22] Alex's dad works at, not just works at, owns the local bowling alley of West Appleton.
[00:10:31] Appleton.
[00:10:32] Okay.
[00:10:33] Home of the Wildcats.
[00:10:34] That's right.
[00:10:35] So...
[00:10:35] What team?
[00:10:36] Wildcats.
[00:10:38] Get your head in the game.
[00:10:39] They...
[00:10:41] But not, not yet.
[00:10:42] Not that.
[00:10:43] But not that Wildcat.
[00:10:44] Wait for it.
[00:10:44] Wait for it.
[00:10:44] Is this a Wildcat team that wears, runs and plays basketball?
[00:10:48] Yes.
[00:10:49] Is it on Disney?
[00:10:50] Maybe.
[00:10:50] Years before high school musical?
[00:10:52] Yeah, it is.
[00:10:53] Disney stealing from Disney.
[00:10:54] I think they were just really excited about the Wildcats and this movie.
[00:10:57] We got to bring it back.
[00:10:58] This movie didn't take off the way they wanted it to.
[00:11:01] That's because they're breaking a tie with bowling.
[00:11:03] I think it's probably why, but you know, I don't want to skip ahead.
[00:11:06] Now Alex and his gang, they go bowling before school.
[00:11:09] They love, he loves to smell of bowling shoes in the morning.
[00:11:14] In junior high, my biggest thing was like, how could I get up earlier for school?
[00:11:18] I was a big five-aim bowler.
[00:11:19] And because of that, their clothes, their overall demeanor, they are known as the
[00:11:27] strange dudes.
[00:11:28] They, people think that they are strange dudes.
[00:11:31] They don't care though.
[00:11:33] Why is it called Alley Cat Strike?
[00:11:36] Because they're the, I don't know.
[00:11:38] It's a bowling alley.
[00:11:39] It's a bowling alley.
[00:11:40] There's a song called Alley Cat Strike that they play in the movie.
[00:11:44] They're not, they're, they're not the Alleycats.
[00:11:47] No, they're the Wildcats, but they are the Alley.
[00:11:50] They're not, they're not-
[00:11:51] They at one point make a comment about-
[00:11:53] Wow.
[00:11:54] We're not-
[00:11:54] This may be the worst name to come.
[00:11:55] We're not Wildcats, we're Alleycats.
[00:11:58] Okay.
[00:11:58] Bowling Alleycats.
[00:11:59] Great.
[00:11:59] Strike.
[00:12:00] And then that's the bowl.
[00:12:01] Alleycat Strike.
[00:12:02] They only care about bowling.
[00:12:04] So when it comes to the big Apple, the mighty Apple trophy-
[00:12:11] Yeah, we have West Appleton and East Appleton who compete apparently every year.
[00:12:15] And a year long.
[00:12:16] In every sport.
[00:12:17] A full 12 months and they, it culminates in like fall.
[00:12:22] Yes.
[00:12:23] Does it not run school year?
[00:12:25] At the end of basketball season.
[00:12:26] You would think it needs to.
[00:12:27] You would think so, but the only reason it would end in September when this
[00:12:31] movie is supposed to take place is like September, October is if it runs 12 months.
[00:12:37] But they talk about track.
[00:12:38] Track's spring, right?
[00:12:38] Yeah.
[00:12:39] So the previous-
[00:12:40] Oh, calendar year.
[00:12:41] Yes.
[00:12:42] 12 months.
[00:12:42] What an interesting way to do it.
[00:12:44] Because it's very-
[00:12:44] That's the only way it makes sense.
[00:12:45] It's very clearly fall.
[00:12:47] Yes.
[00:12:47] The only way it makes sense is that the mighty Apple is a 12 month-
[00:12:51] Yeah, this is the final event of the mighty Apple.
[00:12:55] Yeah.
[00:12:55] I don't hate that.
[00:12:56] I think that's how school year should be.
[00:12:58] I think school years should be just a calendar year because it gets confusing.
[00:13:02] So you're part of the team in the spring, but then you graduated and
[00:13:06] you helped them get the mighty Apple.
[00:13:08] You still are a part of it.
[00:13:08] You're still a part of it.
[00:13:09] You don't get any of the glory.
[00:13:10] No, you're still a part of it.
[00:13:10] You're off to college.
[00:13:11] Yeah.
[00:13:12] Do you leave from college to go to the parade?
[00:13:14] I think you have to.
[00:13:16] That's built in, right?
[00:13:17] Sorry guys.
[00:13:18] I don't know if you've heard about the mighty Apple.
[00:13:19] Built into the college contract.
[00:13:22] Now this is technically the last year of the mighty Apple trophy because
[00:13:27] there's a new school being built and both schools are now going to become one.
[00:13:31] One Appleton place.
[00:13:33] East West Appleton.
[00:13:34] And so this is a big one.
[00:13:36] Now it all comes down to this basketball game between East and West Appleton.
[00:13:41] And if West Appleton wins this game, somehow miraculously.
[00:13:47] It's a tie.
[00:13:48] Yeah.
[00:13:49] It is a tie.
[00:13:49] East wins it.
[00:13:50] So the Apple, yes.
[00:13:51] West has to win to force a tie.
[00:13:54] Yes.
[00:13:54] Now the alley cats are the only people in this town that do not compare,
[00:14:01] care about this middle school.
[00:14:03] They don't care.
[00:14:03] They don't care.
[00:14:03] Apple trophy.
[00:14:04] They are, they are doing it for the love of the games.
[00:14:06] They're a lot of like the soul skaters.
[00:14:07] That's right.
[00:14:08] They, they're there.
[00:14:09] This town is obsessed with middle school athletics.
[00:14:13] Not high school.
[00:14:14] They could care less how the high school football team is doing.
[00:14:16] Just now we learned very late in this movie that it's a junior high and I'm
[00:14:20] just now putting together that the sheer nutso artic nature of these people is
[00:14:27] directed at middle schoolers where kids are at their best.
[00:14:31] Yes, that's right.
[00:14:33] And there's like, there's never any like discrepancy in skill or anything.
[00:14:38] It's all very, right.
[00:14:40] I mean, them being a middle school makes more sense why that one kid has
[00:14:43] time to play every sport.
[00:14:45] Yeah.
[00:14:45] Yeah.
[00:14:46] He's got this, the grades don't matter.
[00:14:49] He doesn't have a job or anything.
[00:14:50] He's got time.
[00:14:51] It's the who's line of school periods.
[00:14:54] Middle school doesn't matter.
[00:14:56] Nothing matters.
[00:14:56] Um, the grades don't matter yet.
[00:14:58] They, uh, they, they just want a bowl.
[00:15:02] And so this game's going on.
[00:15:03] Alex's dad does care.
[00:15:04] He's listening to the basketball game on the radio, uh, with DJ, uh, what's his
[00:15:10] sweet?
[00:15:10] Lou is broadcast.
[00:15:13] Broadcast basketball.
[00:15:16] Yes.
[00:15:16] The final of the mighty trove, uh, mighty apple trophy and the game in the
[00:15:22] way that you would assume it would West Appleton wins, which is very
[00:15:25] exciting for West Appleton, but it does cause some confusion.
[00:15:29] It is a tie.
[00:15:30] This doesn't happen.
[00:15:31] I think it's unprecedented.
[00:15:33] So what do we do?
[00:15:35] It's all going to come down to bowling.
[00:15:37] Both, both schools apparently have a bowling club, but bowling is not a part
[00:15:46] of the mighty apple trophy consideration.
[00:15:49] Typically, cause it's a club.
[00:15:50] Not a sport according to this movie.
[00:15:52] Yes.
[00:15:53] So you would think that the principal of West Appleton would be thrilled to
[00:16:01] find out that not only do they have a bowling club, but this bowling club is
[00:16:07] run by people, by kids that go bowling before school.
[00:16:14] That's how they start their day.
[00:16:16] They have a kid on the team whose dad owns the bowling alley.
[00:16:22] It's not enough for him.
[00:16:24] He says, I'm not sure about you.
[00:16:26] I don't think you guys have what it takes to bring home the trophy.
[00:16:31] And so they scour through the list of people who at one time signed up for
[00:16:36] bowling club and for reasons that I don't know, Todd, the most popular
[00:16:45] athlete in school baseball, football, basketball, tennis track teams at some
[00:16:50] point signed up for bowling club, but never went.
[00:16:54] Yes.
[00:16:55] Athlete of the year, Todd Macklemore.
[00:16:57] So the principal every morning get out of here.
[00:17:00] Todd who hasn't bowled a day in his life.
[00:17:02] He's going to need a cup.
[00:17:02] Let's go save us.
[00:17:04] The principal goes and says, Todd, we need you to come and save our
[00:17:09] butts because you are now a part of the bowling club.
[00:17:13] We would like for you to lead this team to the mighty apple trophy ceremony.
[00:17:22] So Todd shows up at the bowling alley and is it good?
[00:17:27] Yeah.
[00:17:28] He's spiking bowling balls.
[00:17:29] He's chucking them across lanes and the bowling crew, the alley cats are
[00:17:34] like, they call themselves the alley.
[00:17:36] I don't know.
[00:17:37] I'm calling them that because that's their gang name.
[00:17:40] They they're like, we don't need this guy.
[00:17:44] This guy is a good, we can do this, but no one believes them.
[00:17:48] Not the principal, not Macklemore's dad.
[00:17:52] Yeah.
[00:17:52] Who is the mayor of West Appleton?
[00:17:54] Yeah.
[00:17:54] Mayor hamburger.
[00:17:55] No, no, no, no.
[00:17:56] Macklemore mayor.
[00:17:56] Macklemore.
[00:17:57] Mayor hamburgers, the mayor of East Appleton.
[00:17:59] That's on me.
[00:17:59] Everybody.
[00:18:00] No, the mayor slash Todd's dad and the principal watch the alley cats just
[00:18:04] get strike after strike after strike.
[00:18:07] Watch Todd not get a strike.
[00:18:09] And they're like, good job, Todd.
[00:18:10] You'll get there.
[00:18:11] Todd's the guy we need to trust here.
[00:18:13] The folks that go bowling all the time.
[00:18:16] You guys just got a bunch of strikes in a row.
[00:18:17] Not trustworthy.
[00:18:18] No, Todd is pretty much like insistent that he doesn't need the alley cats.
[00:18:23] That's right.
[00:18:23] Will himself to become a better bowler.
[00:18:27] He quickly realizes that it's just not how it works.
[00:18:31] And he actually does end up learning a few things from the alley cats,
[00:18:35] from Alex, et cetera.
[00:18:38] And the other alley cat names are.
[00:18:40] Alex and the gang.
[00:18:41] The other thing is, is the alley cats are relentlessly bullied at school.
[00:18:45] Yes.
[00:18:46] I mean, hey, bowler nerd.
[00:18:48] Hey, bow bow.
[00:18:49] Yeah.
[00:18:50] You know, they don't get invited to the parties.
[00:18:52] They get shoved on and picked on and, and like they're less than, and
[00:18:56] the this group of people couldn't be any more normal.
[00:18:59] Like they couldn't be any more middle school kids who would
[00:19:02] be popular in middle school.
[00:19:04] I'm now running through the movie in my head with the frame of
[00:19:07] their middle school and I have a lot of questions about that.
[00:19:10] Oh, it's a mess.
[00:19:13] It's, it's worse that they're in middle school for sure.
[00:19:15] But like it's clearly, it's an oil and water situation.
[00:19:18] The alley cats, I guess is what we're calling them.
[00:19:20] They didn't even show up for the basketball game.
[00:19:22] No, they don't care.
[00:19:23] They're playing, they're playing, they're bowling.
[00:19:25] And the basketball team is like upset, like you didn't show up to the game.
[00:19:28] And they were like, did you want us there?
[00:19:30] Yeah.
[00:19:31] Why?
[00:19:31] You don't like us.
[00:19:32] We're the strange dudes.
[00:19:33] A pervasive attitude that they don't really care about the apple.
[00:19:36] The mighty apple.
[00:19:36] Oh no.
[00:19:38] In fact, Alex says the only thing he likes about the apple is
[00:19:40] that it kind of resembles a bowling ball.
[00:19:43] Yeah.
[00:19:43] Yes.
[00:19:43] Yeah.
[00:19:43] And he, but he doesn't care if he wins or loses.
[00:19:45] No, he doesn't care.
[00:19:45] He's still doing it for the love of the game.
[00:19:46] I mean the basketball team never came up to me in theater
[00:19:48] rehearsal and was like, you weren't at the game last night.
[00:19:51] That's true.
[00:19:52] Guess what?
[00:19:52] You were in junior high.
[00:19:53] Where were you?
[00:19:53] They didn't notice.
[00:19:54] Where were you?
[00:19:57] Slowly over time though, Todd begins to get better at bowling
[00:20:03] thanks to Alex and the crew teaching them some stuff.
[00:20:07] And the number one inspiration?
[00:20:09] Alex Stead.
[00:20:10] Alex's dad.
[00:20:11] Of course.
[00:20:11] Yeah.
[00:20:12] Everything he says is just sage wisdom.
[00:20:15] Now Alex's dad is in a bit of a bind here because he is at risk
[00:20:19] of losing or having to at least shut down the bowling alley.
[00:20:23] Nobody's coming.
[00:20:24] He's even thinking of going to the store and picking up a real estate license.
[00:20:27] That's exactly right.
[00:20:28] He's thinking around with that idea.
[00:20:31] Um, so Todd begins to soften.
[00:20:33] The first listing on lock it would be the bowling alley.
[00:20:35] It was true.
[00:20:36] That's right.
[00:20:36] That's actually a good insight track there.
[00:20:38] So, uh, Todd begins to kind of soften to the alley cats.
[00:20:43] Like, Hey, they're actually, they're all right.
[00:20:45] I love how we've just established that they're the alley cats.
[00:20:48] The alley cats strike at the very least they strike.
[00:20:50] Yes, of course they do.
[00:20:52] They, uh, yeah.
[00:20:54] And Alex in particular, um, Todd's like union movies.
[00:21:01] Todd's like, I'm, I'm the star, but you know, you got something
[00:21:05] special going on here too.
[00:21:06] You can, you can let's see.
[00:21:08] I'll take you under my wing kind of, I'll start taking you to party.
[00:21:12] Um, I'll start introducing you to my friends and Alex begins to be like,
[00:21:16] Oh, this is, yeah, this is kind of nice.
[00:21:19] He takes bowling a little more seriously.
[00:21:20] Alex is willing to have a friend that's outside of his cool club.
[00:21:24] Right.
[00:21:24] It's starting to wear sweaters instead of bowling shirts.
[00:21:27] Doing the sweet Lou radio show together.
[00:21:30] I brought my bowling shirt.
[00:21:31] Where is it?
[00:21:32] Well, it's not here.
[00:21:34] Oh, this sucks.
[00:21:35] This whole thing sucks.
[00:21:37] Let's just shut it down.
[00:21:38] Let's shut it down.
[00:21:39] It's not worth doing if you can't have that on for an audio podcast.
[00:21:42] If you want to take a break and go grab it.
[00:21:44] Where is it?
[00:21:45] Brand stop asking us.
[00:21:50] Sure.
[00:21:51] Is it in your backpack?
[00:21:52] No, I brought it from just now through the door.
[00:21:55] It might be in the car.
[00:21:57] That's possible.
[00:21:58] I think we're good.
[00:21:59] I think we can all imagine it.
[00:22:02] Imagine in a brand in a Christmas themed bowling shirt.
[00:22:06] He's not raw.
[00:22:06] All better for Alex is starting to not wear those.
[00:22:09] And it starts with the radio thing.
[00:22:11] Yes.
[00:22:11] They go to do the sweet Lou radio show big time.
[00:22:14] Look, when you get called in by sweet Lou who covers all of junior high
[00:22:18] sports, the way I understand it and who should be avoided like the plague
[00:22:22] because of that bald 50 year old dude who is known for covering all of
[00:22:30] the middle school sports on the radio.
[00:22:33] Uh, you had called into that interview.
[00:22:34] He brings Alex with him, which is a big deal.
[00:22:37] They do the interview together.
[00:22:39] They do it together and he's supposed to go report back to
[00:22:41] the rest of his alley cat gang.
[00:22:42] He just, he blows them off.
[00:22:43] He goes to a party instead, which he's becoming a real cool kid.
[00:22:47] That's right.
[00:22:48] Now Todd though does come up with a pretty, pretty cool idea.
[00:22:53] And some of you've heard this before.
[00:22:55] What if we do a thing at bowling alleys where kind of changed
[00:23:00] a lighting, uh, like a black light.
[00:23:04] Like maybe a black light, maybe some, a disco ball, like lasers, lasers.
[00:23:10] Maybe you play some bump in music, like Savage garden,
[00:23:15] uh, Aerosmith.
[00:23:18] Maybe we do some of that.
[00:23:20] I think the people will come.
[00:23:21] I know we have things to do, but we did not.
[00:23:24] There's a line in this movie where this kid says, why don't you listen
[00:23:29] to cool music and the three bands he lists?
[00:23:33] One.
[00:23:33] Backstreet boys to Savage garden Aerosmith.
[00:23:38] It is like they pulled three names from a ping pong lottery that all just had.
[00:23:43] Like I couldn't, it was so jarring when he does this that you're just
[00:23:50] like Savage garden really threw me.
[00:23:52] Yeah.
[00:23:53] Savage gardens is really like Backstreet boys.
[00:23:55] And I was like, sure.
[00:23:56] Sure.
[00:23:56] 2000.
[00:23:57] But it was Backstreet boys Aerosmith.
[00:23:59] I'd be like, what are you talking about?
[00:24:01] Crumbo Savage gardens.
[00:24:04] The weird Savage garden is the weirdest one, but be your bowling ball, be your pen.
[00:24:09] I'll be your alley cat.
[00:24:12] Um, so that actually goes off really well.
[00:24:16] Kids come the music revolutionizes the game of bowling.
[00:24:20] It's it is, it is like a similar to what threes Greenville does here for golf.
[00:24:26] He, he invents cosmic bowling.
[00:24:28] Yeah.
[00:24:30] They call it the bowling ball, but it's definitely cause no, it is the thing
[00:24:34] that we've known existed for years and years and years, apparently in this
[00:24:37] movie, they invented they, this movie takes place in a world where cosmic
[00:24:41] bowling does not exist and Macklemore invents it.
[00:24:44] Macklemore invents it.
[00:24:46] Um, now Alex is feeling pretty, pretty cool.
[00:24:50] All the people have come to his dad's bowling.
[00:24:53] Yeah.
[00:24:54] Allie, he now has friends that's wearing his sunglasses at night.
[00:24:58] Now after the part, the party's coming to an end.
[00:25:01] He goes out back.
[00:25:02] He's throwing the trash in the trash can.
[00:25:05] He goes around the corner.
[00:25:06] He sees his new friends, but he kind of holds back cause he starts to
[00:25:10] listen on what they're saying and they're talking about how lame Alex is
[00:25:14] and how they can't wait for this to be over so they can stop
[00:25:17] pretending to be his friend.
[00:25:19] There's a few things here.
[00:25:21] That hurts.
[00:25:22] I, there's a few things here.
[00:25:22] One is kids, a good looking kid.
[00:25:25] It's weird that he wouldn't just be naturally popular in school.
[00:25:28] That's one that's just weird.
[00:25:30] Like this kid is not, I can't imagine that he is so unpopular in middle
[00:25:34] school and then second of all, you would think upon hearing this,
[00:25:39] that's the thing that wakes him up.
[00:25:41] That's the thing that makes him go, you know what?
[00:25:44] I got to stop all this nonsense.
[00:25:45] I'm an Allie cat.
[00:25:46] When you're an Allie cat, when you're a cat, you're a cat,
[00:25:49] you're a cat.
[00:25:49] Like I got to go back and hang out with my, my people, but he doesn't.
[00:25:54] He hears that they are only friends with him because he might help them
[00:25:58] win the mighty apple.
[00:25:59] And he goes back into the, his three rider dies his four rider dies.
[00:26:03] And he's like, yeah, I still going to wear the sweaters and be
[00:26:07] somebody that I'm not.
[00:26:08] That was wild.
[00:26:09] It was a wild, it's a wild moment to have in a movie that
[00:26:11] actually doesn't change anything.
[00:26:13] It doesn't change the trajectory of the movie at all.
[00:26:17] He is as unbothered about things as Johnny tsunami.
[00:26:21] He's so cool about everything.
[00:26:23] So yeah, whatever win, lose draw.
[00:26:25] It doesn't matter.
[00:26:25] Doesn't matter, but it does matter.
[00:26:28] It's like brink with less intensity.
[00:26:29] Yeah.
[00:26:30] So like if brink and Johnny tsunami met, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:26:34] Fair.
[00:26:34] Disney bars from Disney now.
[00:26:38] Obviously the mighty apple is up for grabs here, but Todd's father is
[00:26:46] the mayor of West Appleton makes a wager with mayor hamburger from
[00:26:53] East Appleton trying to say it was some respect size mayor hamburger
[00:26:57] mayor hamburger hamburger.
[00:26:59] Ham.
[00:27:01] Not saying the N hand burger.
[00:27:06] It's the hat in the burger is mayor hamburger.
[00:27:10] The hamburger.
[00:27:11] They say he's wearing purple and a mask.
[00:27:14] They say the stakes of this middle school bowling match are not high
[00:27:20] enough side, the government run entity in the town.
[00:27:23] Yes.
[00:27:24] There's the new school that is being built.
[00:27:27] Doesn't have a name yet.
[00:27:28] They've actually built.
[00:27:30] They've built it without any inkling of an idea.
[00:27:33] Apple Academy.
[00:27:34] Yes.
[00:27:35] Yes, it should.
[00:27:36] Appleton Academy or middle or how about, how about, um, listen,
[00:27:41] hear me out the core because it's the middle of the apple.
[00:27:46] I understand what a core is.
[00:27:47] You, I just, I feel like the core is what you would name like a cult.
[00:27:51] Oh, I'll say like the teachers around in Apple Academy.
[00:27:54] Yes.
[00:27:55] Yeah.
[00:27:55] Or like the central office is called the core.
[00:27:58] Yeah.
[00:27:58] And these are all like houses, like my kids' school has houses.
[00:28:01] Everybody's in a different house and they went earn points.
[00:28:04] You could do that, but it's like Fuji, granny Smith.
[00:28:06] Kids go to Hogwarts.
[00:28:07] They, you would think so.
[00:28:08] They have houses and you can wear certain colors for your house and
[00:28:13] you earn points at the end of each week, one house wins and they have
[00:28:15] a dance party and they're really improving schools pretty amazing.
[00:28:19] And they're really improving in their witchcraft, which is really cool.
[00:28:21] The stuff.
[00:28:22] Well, there are wizards read a book.
[00:28:24] Sorry.
[00:28:24] Um, but the ladies are improving in their witchcraft.
[00:28:29] Yes.
[00:28:29] Yes.
[00:28:31] But I mean, it's 2024 and we don't believe in gender norms over here.
[00:28:34] So I think the author of Mary Potter would beg to differ.
[00:28:37] Well, she is a huge listener of decom descendents and if she
[00:28:40] would like to say something, she can email me at hello at deck,
[00:28:44] the hallmark.com and I will talk to her.
[00:28:47] This isn't personal to Aaron at all.
[00:28:49] She's a lot like Brink from this movie.
[00:28:51] What's his name?
[00:28:52] Alex.
[00:28:52] Yeah, very similar.
[00:28:53] Did you see it?
[00:28:54] Not a dog in the spot.
[00:28:55] She recently came out and said that she will never forgive.
[00:28:57] She's tripled down at this point.
[00:28:59] It's like she's like into like, it is literally like JK.
[00:29:03] You haven't said anything stupid in a while.
[00:29:05] Come on out.
[00:29:06] And she's like, oh yeah, I'm here for it.
[00:29:08] Let's do it.
[00:29:09] No one asked.
[00:29:10] Nobody asked.
[00:29:10] No, Emma and Rupert didn't ask, but I'm going to go on the record and say
[00:29:14] I will never forgive them for supporting trans rights.
[00:29:17] Never forget.
[00:29:17] Here's 10,000 more words on it.
[00:29:19] Here you go.
[00:29:20] And if you watch us on take the tape.com, watch this movie.
[00:29:24] I am wearing a days of girlhood shirt and that fits in because that is also
[00:29:28] supporting trans rights.
[00:29:29] So, you know what?
[00:29:30] JK email me hello at deckhallmark.com.
[00:29:32] I'm sure you'll get an email from JK.
[00:29:34] I'm sure she's listening to this.
[00:29:35] JK, JK.
[00:29:38] But not JK.
[00:29:39] I'm sorry.
[00:29:40] So, um, they are now putting the naming, the naming rights of the school.
[00:29:50] Up for grabs.
[00:29:50] I'm whoever.
[00:29:51] If you're asking, I'm house Granny Smith.
[00:29:53] It's tart.
[00:29:54] It's crisp.
[00:29:55] It's tart.
[00:29:55] Whoever wins or house wine sap.
[00:29:57] I could be house wine sap, but if you twisted my arm, what house are you?
[00:30:01] Pink lady.
[00:30:02] Pink lady.
[00:30:02] Yep.
[00:30:03] Very good.
[00:30:05] Um, probably the granny house.
[00:30:06] Yeah.
[00:30:06] Granny Smith house.
[00:30:07] Yeah.
[00:30:08] That's a popular house.
[00:30:10] No, no Macintosh.
[00:30:12] Macintosh out of here.
[00:30:14] Uh, naming now golden delicious.
[00:30:17] That's just pure gala gala gala.
[00:30:20] Yeah.
[00:30:20] Gala gala.
[00:30:22] How's gala the warrener?
[00:30:24] Uh, so Alex obviously review, let us know what house you would be in.
[00:30:29] Yes, please do.
[00:30:29] Yes.
[00:30:30] Just leave the review with your house.
[00:30:31] It's just going to be, uh, my name is Clarence channel 42, Fuji five star.
[00:30:39] No notes.
[00:30:40] Did I do it?
[00:30:41] Yes.
[00:30:41] Thank you.
[00:30:42] Clarence.
[00:30:43] Thank you.
[00:30:43] Clarence.
[00:30:44] You're welcome.
[00:30:45] 10 out of 10, five stars for you.
[00:30:46] I'm Clarence.
[00:30:47] Leave a review and a rating for Clarence.
[00:30:50] The Fuji room.
[00:30:51] Sorry.
[00:30:51] Of course.
[00:30:53] Alex obviously is now armed with the knowledge that brain is carrying the
[00:30:58] show.
[00:30:59] This is where brand starts to realize the show goes long and he's like,
[00:31:03] I got to get everybody back on track.
[00:31:05] Guys, circle the wagon.
[00:31:06] There's just not a lot to this movie.
[00:31:08] It shouldn't be taking this long.
[00:31:09] Well, that's fine.
[00:31:10] We had, we have plenty of time.
[00:31:12] Alex.
[00:31:12] You sure you're in house granny Smith?
[00:31:14] Yes.
[00:31:15] It's called the granny house, B get it right.
[00:31:20] That's a, you think there are people that would feel ostracized by that?
[00:31:23] What about, what about pink lady?
[00:31:25] Homies?
[00:31:27] Ink lady.
[00:31:27] I don't know.
[00:31:29] We're just all throwing out ideas here.
[00:31:30] Kids are in house of integrity, integrity house.
[00:31:34] Do they get, do they, do they, did they earn that or were they
[00:31:38] placed as like a hat, but there's no hat.
[00:31:41] They just assign you a house when you
[00:31:44] and one of the options is integrity.
[00:31:46] What is excellence?
[00:31:47] Boy.
[00:31:48] Yeah.
[00:31:48] Putting a lot of assumptions here.
[00:31:51] It's just the characteristic of being an engineer that they want you to show.
[00:31:54] Sure.
[00:31:55] It's an engineering school.
[00:31:56] I'm really bragging on my kid's school today.
[00:31:58] You want to take it from here?
[00:32:00] Yeah, sure.
[00:32:01] So Alex is now armed with the knowledge that his new friends are fake.
[00:32:06] And that doesn't change a damn thing about what he does.
[00:32:09] Oh, I'm switching.
[00:32:10] I'm house Braeburn.
[00:32:11] House Braeburn.
[00:32:12] See that.
[00:32:12] See now you've done it.
[00:32:13] No, but it does a little bit.
[00:32:15] It does a little bit because in the net, in the next scene, that's when they come
[00:32:20] in and they say, that's when Todd's Todd's dad comes shot, Todd's dad comes
[00:32:26] in and is like, Hey, guess what?
[00:32:29] The stakes are even higher now.
[00:32:31] Also here are these, here are these crummy, crummy uniforms.
[00:32:36] And so I think that the combination of my new friends are fake friends.
[00:32:41] He does quit.
[00:32:42] New friends, new friends are fake friends.
[00:32:44] Plus bowling is never going to get the respect it deserves.
[00:32:47] Not with these t-shirts.
[00:32:48] It's not even when it all comes down to us, we still get the
[00:32:51] worst possible uniforms.
[00:32:53] I quit.
[00:32:54] Yes.
[00:32:54] He says, I can't do this.
[00:32:56] I stand corrected.
[00:32:56] Bullying's not fun anymore.
[00:32:58] Yeah.
[00:32:58] His friend points out like if they win, all the credit is just going
[00:33:01] to go to Todd and if they lose all the blame is going to go on them.
[00:33:04] That's true.
[00:33:06] And it's just not fun.
[00:33:06] And Alex has had enough.
[00:33:08] And I will say this, the other thing all this time throughout this movie,
[00:33:12] there's talk of the seven, 10 split, i.e. this drink, the seven, 10 split.
[00:33:17] And it's an impossible thing.
[00:33:19] I think it just as a, as a matter of will, you know, mind over matter.
[00:33:23] Yeah.
[00:33:23] And he has been working on the seven, 10 split and he's never gotten it.
[00:33:26] He's not hit it a single time back to you, Brian.
[00:33:29] Thank you.
[00:33:30] Todd realizes uniforms.
[00:33:32] Whomp got to get Alex back.
[00:33:34] So he obviously knows a guy has two uniforms made within the day.
[00:33:39] And they are freaking awesome.
[00:33:41] They're actual, they're actual bowling shirts.
[00:33:43] They got the Alley Cat Strike logo on the back of the crew.
[00:33:46] The name that we've all been calling.
[00:33:47] Todd drew up on his way from the diner to Alex's house.
[00:33:51] We've been calling him Alley Cat's the whole movie.
[00:33:52] I know.
[00:33:52] Close to the Alley Cat.
[00:33:53] Yeah.
[00:33:54] So he shows up at Alex's house says, hey, new uniforms.
[00:33:58] We'd love to have you back.
[00:33:59] Alex is sitting there looking cool AF stroking his hair back like Sean
[00:34:03] and Boy Meets World and is just like, like there's literally a seed where
[00:34:09] Sean does this thing and he says he has like a 300 foot radius of girls noticing.
[00:34:14] That's what this scene reminded me of.
[00:34:16] He's literally just like back there.
[00:34:18] Sean Hunter super popular.
[00:34:20] Yeah, this kid doesn't make any sense.
[00:34:22] And that's the scene where he does it on this.
[00:34:23] I'm like, there's no world where this kid is even if he's not super popular,
[00:34:28] there's no world where he's bullied.
[00:34:30] Yeah, there's no way.
[00:34:31] There's no way.
[00:34:32] Middle school in the 2000s.
[00:34:33] There's no way.
[00:34:35] No.
[00:34:35] Uh, so obviously Alex is just like, I'll think on it.
[00:34:40] I'll get a good luck because ultimately they don't need them.
[00:34:43] The competition's clear.
[00:34:45] Or you need subs?
[00:34:46] You need four.
[00:34:48] All right.
[00:34:48] It is.
[00:34:49] It is time for the competition.
[00:34:50] Yeah.
[00:34:51] It is four on four, but you each team can have one sup.
[00:34:55] Now what does that mean?
[00:34:56] Brand?
[00:34:56] So it is clear as crystal in and out at no, it is any time, but once
[00:35:02] you're in, you can't switch back.
[00:35:04] Yes.
[00:35:04] It's like, it's just like pinch hitter.
[00:35:07] And how many times do you think that they will let us know about this rule?
[00:35:10] A lot.
[00:35:10] Oh, under half dozen.
[00:35:12] Uh, we've because what's his name?
[00:35:15] Sweet Lou.
[00:35:15] Sweet Lou.
[00:35:16] Remember his name to save your life.
[00:35:18] And I don't understand.
[00:35:19] He's the most important character in this movie.
[00:35:20] Sweet Lou shows up.
[00:35:21] 50 year old bald man covering middle school athletics exclusively.
[00:35:24] I don't know why you can't remember.
[00:35:26] I try to forget perverts.
[00:35:28] I try to put them out of my mind.
[00:35:31] That's the only logical explanation for sweet Lou.
[00:35:34] Is he for his date to catch a predator?
[00:35:37] That's exactly right.
[00:35:37] You're supposed to be on the show already.
[00:35:39] I only do middle school athletics.
[00:35:42] He's at all of them.
[00:35:43] He's at all the games.
[00:35:44] He gets all the exclusive interviews talking about how excited he is.
[00:35:48] It's brutal.
[00:35:50] It's brutal.
[00:35:51] I'm sure the actor who plays sweet Lou is a great fellow.
[00:35:55] I have some questions.
[00:35:58] Philip Williams.
[00:35:59] I'm sure you're swell fellow.
[00:36:01] Sweet Lou.
[00:36:02] Your character is a perv.
[00:36:03] Yeah.
[00:36:03] Sweet Lou's there constantly reminding us that there is a substitution should a
[00:36:09] team need it.
[00:36:10] Did you think sweet Lou was above board until this very moment?
[00:36:13] I had forgotten.
[00:36:15] And in her defense, we don't think of it as middle school until the end.
[00:36:21] I mean, it was weird for high school, but in my head it was like high school.
[00:36:25] And then we throw it to junior high.
[00:36:26] We've seen Friday Night Lights.
[00:36:28] We know how important high school athletics are.
[00:36:29] But now I'm thinking about all the times that Todd went for solo interviews with
[00:36:32] Sweet Lou and.
[00:36:34] It's middle school people.
[00:36:35] I'm feeling, I'm feeling.
[00:36:37] And his dad was busy marrying so he wasn't there to supervise.
[00:36:40] Yeah.
[00:36:43] So you can sub.
[00:36:45] Once.
[00:36:46] Once.
[00:36:47] Can't sub back.
[00:36:48] The crowd is going nuts.
[00:36:49] They are pumped.
[00:36:50] Alex shows up last minute.
[00:36:52] With his Jersey on he's good to go.
[00:36:54] They have a sub.
[00:36:55] Her name is Tiny Girl.
[00:36:56] Tiny.
[00:36:58] If you go ahead, do you know her name?
[00:36:59] Don't look.
[00:37:00] Oh, I already looked it up.
[00:37:01] Sorry.
[00:37:01] Okay.
[00:37:03] Without looking it up, you'd have been with Tiny Girl.
[00:37:05] Right.
[00:37:05] Is it Dalia?
[00:37:07] Dalia?
[00:37:09] I think Delia is Kaylee Coolhouse.
[00:37:12] No, no.
[00:37:13] Delia is Mimi Paley.
[00:37:14] Okay.
[00:37:15] So then is it Elise?
[00:37:16] Elise's?
[00:37:17] Elise is Kaleigh.
[00:37:18] We got the Stacey.
[00:37:21] We got the Sarah.
[00:37:22] We got Delia.
[00:37:24] We got all of them.
[00:37:25] Delia.
[00:37:26] Shout out to Delia.
[00:37:27] She's a great store.
[00:37:28] Gone too soon.
[00:37:29] RIP.
[00:37:29] Delia or no Delia?
[00:37:32] It's a new game show coming up.
[00:37:33] Delia?
[00:37:33] Delia.
[00:37:37] It's time.
[00:37:38] Alex is there.
[00:37:39] Everybody basically.
[00:37:40] She doesn't want to bowl.
[00:37:40] She doesn't want to bowl.
[00:37:41] She's part of the club, but she's like, no thanks.
[00:37:43] Big on math.
[00:37:44] Big on like, hey, here's how you make a shot.
[00:37:47] Math is easy.
[00:37:48] But yeah, likes bowling, likes the vibe of the alley, likes the music, likes
[00:37:53] the outfits, doesn't really care to bowl in front of a bunch of people.
[00:37:57] So the game is going on.
[00:38:00] You know, you got to do all the frames and whatnot.
[00:38:03] And it comes down to this.
[00:38:06] Alex has to bowl three strikes in a row in order to tie.
[00:38:12] Tie.
[00:38:13] Yeah.
[00:38:13] So he does that, crushes it.
[00:38:16] The other team goes, they bowl and great.
[00:38:21] So now Macro needs a spare for the dub.
[00:38:25] That's right.
[00:38:26] A spare for the dub.
[00:38:27] That's right.
[00:38:28] He bowls.
[00:38:29] Even though it's the last round, if he gets a spare, he gets another bowl,
[00:38:31] which makes no sense at all.
[00:38:32] I'm not here to correct.
[00:38:33] It's bowling.
[00:38:34] I don't want to.
[00:38:34] And it's in this moment where Todd realizes that he is not an ace bowler
[00:38:38] and he maybe should not have gone last.
[00:38:39] That's right.
[00:38:40] All the anxiety hits him at once.
[00:38:41] All these people are watching.
[00:38:42] There's bleachers they've put into the bowling alley.
[00:38:45] Yeah.
[00:38:45] News reporters are there.
[00:38:46] Sweet Lou is in the front row.
[00:38:48] Everybody's watching and it's in the 10th frame of the championship where he's like,
[00:38:55] gosh darn it.
[00:38:56] I'm not the best one on the team and I probably shouldn't.
[00:39:00] Shouldn't have hit cleanup.
[00:39:01] Like yeah, the weight of this wind should not be on my shoulder.
[00:39:05] So he bowls and wouldn't you know it knocks down all but two that are
[00:39:12] seven, ten split.
[00:39:15] Boom.
[00:39:15] And it's at this point that sweet Lou is pleasuring the heck out
[00:39:18] of himself.
[00:39:19] He's so freaking pumped.
[00:39:20] Dear God, I'm going nuts.
[00:39:22] You can't say that.
[00:39:23] Todd.
[00:39:24] You can't do that.
[00:39:25] Todd knowing that he's like, boy, I can't do this.
[00:39:28] I tried.
[00:39:29] I've never been able to get a seven, ten split.
[00:39:31] It's produced by brain and it's Delia.
[00:39:34] Delia de Delia.
[00:39:37] You mean Delia?
[00:39:37] Delia.
[00:39:39] Dula de Lippa says, hey, I can do this.
[00:39:46] Hey, Dua.
[00:39:47] She hosted SNL last weekend.
[00:39:49] Yeah, she did.
[00:39:50] Both.
[00:39:50] She's phenomenal.
[00:39:52] She's OK.
[00:39:54] Are you more Dua or more Lippa?
[00:39:56] Lippa.
[00:39:58] That's all of us.
[00:40:00] Delia is so incredibly terrified of bowling like all movies.
[00:40:05] She's like, at least I don't have to bowl.
[00:40:06] I don't want to bowl.
[00:40:07] Don't make me bowl.
[00:40:07] Don't make me bowl.
[00:40:08] And then when it comes to the seven, ten split, she's like, I've
[00:40:12] never been more confident about anything in my life because the
[00:40:15] seven, ten splits is science.
[00:40:17] Bowling a normal strike that you can't do.
[00:40:23] But the seven, ten split is a science.
[00:40:25] So here's what she does.
[00:40:26] She walks up to the line kind of like crouches down.
[00:40:32] Finger in air to get the wind speeds correct.
[00:40:37] It's indoors.
[00:40:38] There is no wind, but she does check it anyway.
[00:40:41] One finger in the hole begins to spin it.
[00:40:46] And then slowly pushes as it continues to spin on its axis, turns
[00:40:52] around like Steph Curry shooting a three.
[00:40:55] Does it need to look at it?
[00:40:56] Knows exactly what's happening here.
[00:40:58] We're here to wait the next, I don't know, 30 minutes.
[00:41:01] Yeah, no, that's fair for this ball to go down the aisle.
[00:41:05] And math wins.
[00:41:07] Math wins.
[00:41:08] Math wins.
[00:41:09] Seven, ten split.
[00:41:10] No problem.
[00:41:11] The ball spins, hits one of the pins, which causes the pin to spin.
[00:41:16] To turn into a computer generated object.
[00:41:18] And then it hits the other pin.
[00:41:20] We nailed it.
[00:41:20] Got the spare.
[00:41:21] They couldn't even recreate it with real pins.
[00:41:23] They had to use computer generated graphics for it to make sense.
[00:41:28] I've spent 24 years believing that this was somehow scientifically possible.
[00:41:32] It isn't.
[00:41:33] You can't.
[00:41:33] It isn't.
[00:41:35] You don't know.
[00:41:36] West Appleton is the winner.
[00:41:39] Tune in next week where we go bowling.
[00:41:41] That's right.
[00:41:41] Of the mighty Apple and now has naming rights.
[00:41:46] And every middle school bowling championship.
[00:41:49] Yeah.
[00:41:49] And they could be like West is best.
[00:41:52] They could have.
[00:41:52] West won best one.
[00:41:53] Now, it's always in forever.
[00:41:55] Really quickly.
[00:41:56] Todd goes up to his dad and it's like, dad, I don't like, I want to
[00:41:59] play sports because I'm having fun.
[00:42:01] I don't want the pressure.
[00:42:02] Yeah.
[00:42:02] And I don't even want to name the school.
[00:42:04] And that's when the ally cats speak up and they go, we do want to name
[00:42:08] the school and it is what is it?
[00:42:11] It is Apple Appleton Central Central is the name of the school.
[00:42:17] And that is.
[00:42:19] Alley cat, alley cat, alley cat strike.
[00:42:21] We're going to take a quick break.
[00:42:22] We're going to come back.
[00:42:23] We're going to read some reviews.
[00:42:24] We're going to talk about how it aged over time.
[00:42:26] We're going to make our list.
[00:42:27] We're going to check it twice.
[00:42:29] All that and more.
[00:42:30] Do you come to sentence?
[00:42:32] Decom descendants.
[00:42:41] Strong switcher.
[00:42:42] Oh, welcome back.
[00:42:45] We're having a good time here.
[00:42:47] Thing that you got to refill and I knocked it out.
[00:42:49] G com descendants, alley cat strike edition.
[00:42:56] It is time for strike edition.
[00:42:58] It is time for the overtime.
[00:42:59] I do have some letterbox reviews if you would like them.
[00:43:02] I would.
[00:43:03] Claire O'Brien says three stars.
[00:43:05] Why does everyone in this town care?
[00:43:07] So GD much about middle school athletics.
[00:43:10] Yeah.
[00:43:11] Yeah.
[00:43:11] Claire, please.
[00:43:11] Kevin Wozniak says three stars.
[00:43:14] I tried that BS final shot for years when I went bowling.
[00:43:18] That S don't work.
[00:43:21] Bree films.
[00:43:22] Oh, six.
[00:43:23] No problem.
[00:43:24] Delia.
[00:43:25] Forget it.
[00:43:25] Yeah.
[00:43:26] Three, three and a half stars.
[00:43:28] The most eighties movie to be made in the two thousands.
[00:43:31] Yeah.
[00:43:32] Austin, Austin, Kimmel two and a half stars top three suspense movies.
[00:43:37] Three psycho to blow out one.
[00:43:41] The last five minutes of alley cat strike.
[00:43:44] Shay says two and a half stars.
[00:43:47] Maybe if these secondhand bowling shirt wearing nerds were less pretentiously
[00:43:51] aggressive about 10 pin bowling and swing music, they wouldn't be social
[00:43:55] outcast that no one liked.
[00:43:57] Fair.
[00:43:58] Charlotte Anne says, oh, to be bowling with my friends pre nine 11 in my
[00:44:03] caprice.
[00:44:05] Why?
[00:44:05] Are there?
[00:44:05] All right.
[00:44:06] Um, it is very specific.
[00:44:10] Uh, 11 changer enjoyment of bowling.
[00:44:13] It did.
[00:44:14] You had to be there.
[00:44:15] Uh, corniple says one star corniple that last seven 10 splits and then a
[00:44:23] bunch of greater than signs.
[00:44:25] And then the Trinity test from Hoppenheimer.
[00:44:31] Last but not least.
[00:44:33] So that's it.
[00:44:33] That's a recent one.
[00:44:34] That is.
[00:44:35] Yeah.
[00:44:35] That's March 20th.
[00:44:36] And Ted, the list is current.
[00:44:38] Corniple should be reviewing this, uh, with us or at least listening to
[00:44:43] the pod corniple.
[00:44:44] If we just read your review, please, if you have to review of this,
[00:44:48] leave a review of us or contact deconpodcast.com Tanner Springer, two
[00:44:53] and a half stars.
[00:44:54] There are two blonde girls in this and I'm still not convinced
[00:44:57] that either one of them.
[00:45:00] Wait, here we go.
[00:45:02] There are two blonde girls and I, and I'm still not convinced
[00:45:05] that they both weren't Kaley Cuoco.
[00:45:07] Yeah.
[00:45:08] They do look very similar.
[00:45:09] I think I could, you can convince me.
[00:45:11] Couple of scenes where I wasn't paying attention and I was like,
[00:45:16] other blonde girl.
[00:45:17] Let's talk about it.
[00:45:19] What are our thoughts?
[00:45:20] What we haven't been doing.
[00:45:21] What would our letterbox review be?
[00:45:24] Erin?
[00:45:25] Go first to House Pink Lady.
[00:45:26] I believe you're the only one of us that has seen this movie.
[00:45:30] You watched it once when it aired.
[00:45:34] What did you think about it now here in 2024 that you have
[00:45:38] watched the Alley Cat Strike again?
[00:45:40] Yeah.
[00:45:42] If you had asked me to sum up the plot of this movie before watching it again,
[00:45:46] I would have just told you about the seven 10 split at the end.
[00:45:49] It's all I remembered.
[00:45:51] Everything else was brand new.
[00:45:53] Did not remember anything about a rivalry.
[00:45:56] Did not remember any sort of trophy.
[00:45:59] Just something about a bowling league seven 10 split
[00:46:04] and watching it again, that is also the only part
[00:46:06] that I think still matters.
[00:46:08] As we've kind of discussed in the com chat part of this,
[00:46:12] a lot of questionable.
[00:46:13] I don't know why they're in middle school.
[00:46:15] I don't know why this whole town is so concerned with middle school sports.
[00:46:19] I don't know why we're discounting children's actual interests
[00:46:24] and talents and just focusing on one student athlete.
[00:46:30] I don't know.
[00:46:31] A lot of questions.
[00:46:31] This movie, I was excited to watch it again because I thought,
[00:46:36] oh, I really liked this when it first aired.
[00:46:38] I haven't really seen it.
[00:46:39] I'm going to enjoy this.
[00:46:42] And I did.
[00:46:44] This movie has a lot of things that I'm going to question,
[00:46:48] and it wasn't really enjoyable.
[00:46:50] But if you haven't seen this movie,
[00:46:52] you should at least watch the last five minutes.
[00:46:55] It is a sight to behold.
[00:46:57] The last five minutes of the movie is a sight to behold.
[00:46:58] The final bowling part is just great.
[00:47:02] And yeah, something.
[00:47:04] Delia hitting that seven, ten split.
[00:47:07] Delia hit the split has lived with me for 24 years.
[00:47:09] And every time I go bowling, I do think about it.
[00:47:13] And just sometimes randomly it'll pop into my head.
[00:47:14] I'm like, I don't know how they did that.
[00:47:16] It was magical.
[00:47:18] It was the only magical thing about this movie.
[00:47:21] So this is my first time I kept thinking, have I seen it?
[00:47:24] I would have had I seen the final frame, I would have remembered.
[00:47:29] So that was like the rest of the movie, forgettable.
[00:47:30] But that final scene, you either have seen that or you haven't.
[00:47:33] Like this was an uphill battle.
[00:47:35] There's a lot going against it.
[00:47:36] There is a middle school competition that this town cares way too much about.
[00:47:41] There's a perverted radio DJ that interviews children by themselves.
[00:47:46] And the middle school kids just run around town.
[00:47:48] No, no, they want to do.
[00:47:50] There is a take it over the ice cream shop.
[00:47:53] There's a Tony's lasagna bowling competition.
[00:47:56] So in a war.
[00:47:59] This movie had a lot to go up against and for pizza, but it's called Tony's lasagna.
[00:48:05] That's right. For me personally, it works.
[00:48:09] I quite enjoyed this movie, of course, you did.
[00:48:12] And the lunacy of it.
[00:48:15] I'm aware of all of its faults.
[00:48:21] I just don't care enough to let that affect it.
[00:48:25] I had a real good time with this movie.
[00:48:29] It's ridiculous.
[00:48:30] It's wacky. And that's what I'm looking for.
[00:48:35] I think I think I'm looking for the wacky.
[00:48:38] It works for me.
[00:48:39] Alex's dad does win major points.
[00:48:41] Oh, my gosh. Alex's dad.
[00:48:42] We didn't really talk about it.
[00:48:44] We didn't talk about him enough.
[00:48:44] Sage advice every time he opens his mouth.
[00:48:47] This man just speaks and no matter what he says, I'm like, thank you.
[00:48:50] Yeah, yeah.
[00:48:51] He's amazing. He's always behind the door.
[00:48:54] Can you imagine if he had like a podcast during Covid and tell me
[00:48:58] everything is going to be OK?
[00:48:59] Encouragement with Alex's dad from the alley cat strike from the alley cat strike.
[00:49:03] It's a very specific podcast, but it would work for me as did this movie.
[00:49:08] Big fan. Dan, I don't think you can really love Brink
[00:49:11] like you love it and not enjoy this movie.
[00:49:14] I think those are both in very much the same vein.
[00:49:17] There's a lot of similarities.
[00:49:19] This isn't nearly as good as Brink is.
[00:49:21] It's so problematic.
[00:49:23] It has a very memorable last five to 10 minutes.
[00:49:26] No doubt about it.
[00:49:28] The rest of this movie is like, what are we? Why?
[00:49:30] I don't they're a bowling club.
[00:49:32] Nobody likes them.
[00:49:33] What the Apple Cup is all year.
[00:49:37] There's so much of the mighty Apple like the skating.
[00:49:40] For those that didn't watch the tape, Dan, for a good 30 minutes,
[00:49:45] I couldn't get over it.
[00:49:46] Could not get over the fact that they were insistent
[00:49:49] on adding one person to the bowling club.
[00:49:51] Yeah, like just couldn't like watch the dumbest.
[00:49:55] It is. They have a bowling club like the the schematics of Brink
[00:50:01] make total sense comparatively to what goes on in the alley cat strike.
[00:50:06] They're not even the alley cats.
[00:50:08] They're it's not even the mascot that it is.
[00:50:12] The movie is nonsensical.
[00:50:13] Pretty much start to finish.
[00:50:15] You do get a fun last five to 10 minutes, but no thanks.
[00:50:20] This is no thanks for me.
[00:50:22] It's time to make the list.
[00:50:24] Yeah, it is. It's getting serious with 14 movies in serious brand.
[00:50:29] That means we got six more to get 100 reviews.
[00:50:31] You think we can do it?
[00:50:32] I think we can for the shirts.
[00:50:33] Do it for the shirts.
[00:50:35] Do it for the jerseys.
[00:50:37] Oh, no, this is this was number 15.
[00:50:39] Oh, this is yeah.
[00:50:40] So we only got this is 15.
[00:50:42] Yeah, we only got five more.
[00:50:45] I think we got it.
[00:50:46] I believe in us. Yeah, I believe in us.
[00:50:48] Starting from Ken going to one, Aaron.
[00:50:52] Oh, we're going to start at 10 this week.
[00:50:54] That's what we've literally done every week, Brian.
[00:50:59] Yes, I set it up for the listeners.
[00:51:03] Right. Remember at the beginning, the listeners were starting with alley cat
[00:51:05] strike. Right. Three, two, one, go.
[00:51:07] OK, start with I'll never announce a segment again either on any show we do,
[00:51:12] even though we do the same thing every week on every show.
[00:51:14] I don't ever do it.
[00:51:15] I'll never set it up.
[00:51:17] Just be better is all I'm saying.
[00:51:19] How would you have handled that?
[00:51:20] I'd have been like, it's time to make the list where we give our top 10
[00:51:23] decom so far out of 15.
[00:51:25] Why do you need to say top 10?
[00:51:27] Because that implies that's what I did.
[00:51:30] No, you said from 10 to one. Right.
[00:51:32] You gave specific instructions.
[00:51:34] You guys are insufferable because Aaron started this.
[00:51:36] Not me. You take it to the tape.
[00:51:38] It's almost like I had two drinks.
[00:51:42] You're mean when you drink.
[00:51:44] Dan doesn't think I'm mean.
[00:51:45] No, you're doing great, Aaron.
[00:51:47] So kind when you drink.
[00:51:48] It's not very kind.
[00:51:51] All right. Number 10, genius horse sense.
[00:51:55] Alley cat strike.
[00:51:57] Brink up, up and away.
[00:51:59] Zenon Halloween town smart house.
[00:52:03] Hold it onto the top three.
[00:52:05] Johnny tsunami.
[00:52:06] And number one is still color friendship.
[00:52:08] This is I just.
[00:52:11] Your list is unbearable.
[00:52:13] It's a pretty.
[00:52:14] Racist.
[00:52:16] It's fine.
[00:52:17] I get it. Understand smart.
[00:52:19] It's a terrible list.
[00:52:20] You're a terrible list.
[00:52:21] But if there is no there is no terrible list
[00:52:24] because it's all of our own opinion.
[00:52:25] So I respect everyone is welcome to that.
[00:52:30] Bad list 10.
[00:52:32] Up up and away, nine color friendship,
[00:52:35] eight Zenon seven genius six.
[00:52:40] Don't look under the bed.
[00:52:42] Five alley cat strike for Halloween town.
[00:52:46] Three Johnny tsunami to smart house one break.
[00:52:51] Ten no comments for Brands list that one above board.
[00:52:54] You stand by that list.
[00:52:55] Great. Love that list.
[00:52:57] That list is better than Aaron's list.
[00:53:01] That is my official comment in look.
[00:53:04] All lists are subjective.
[00:53:05] One is not better than the other,
[00:53:06] but Brands list is better than Aaron's.
[00:53:08] All right.
[00:53:13] Number 10 alley cat strike.
[00:53:15] It almost didn't make the list.
[00:53:17] Wow.
[00:53:18] Come on.
[00:53:21] Number nine color of friendship.
[00:53:23] Number eight smart house.
[00:53:25] Number seven.
[00:53:26] It's a smart up up and away.
[00:53:28] Number six.
[00:53:29] Don't look under the bed.
[00:53:31] We pause real quick.
[00:53:32] Have you always had up up and away above smart house?
[00:53:35] You're insane for that.
[00:53:36] We've got like two weeks.
[00:53:37] I know I'm taking it in now.
[00:53:39] It's all it's all.
[00:53:40] It might could change.
[00:53:41] I don't know.
[00:53:41] It might.
[00:53:42] I would encourage you to spend some time in prayer.
[00:53:44] I have every week.
[00:53:46] Have you fasted?
[00:53:47] Both. Yes.
[00:53:48] All right.
[00:53:49] Fasted and prayed.
[00:53:50] Number five.
[00:53:50] Zenon number four.
[00:53:51] Brink number three.
[00:53:53] Genius number two.
[00:53:54] Halloween town number one.
[00:53:56] Johnny tsunami.
[00:53:57] Wow.
[00:53:58] Which I think is far and away the best movie we see.
[00:54:01] Not even close.
[00:54:02] It hasn't happened yet,
[00:54:03] but you brought up a good point when you were making your list.
[00:54:06] We haven't had a movie yet.
[00:54:07] That didn't premiere in the top 10.
[00:54:09] And I almost didn't premiere mine in the top 10,
[00:54:12] but it's right there with can of worms and under wraps.
[00:54:15] And I gave it the nod because it has I think it goes by the quickest of those.
[00:54:20] Yeah, I mean, there's definitely going to be some coming up that don't make my top 10.
[00:54:23] Yeah, but I think you have to announce where you would put it.
[00:54:25] If it's not in your top 10 initially, you have to announce where you would put it.
[00:54:28] Right.
[00:54:29] Is that OK with you?
[00:54:29] Can you announce that every week, Brian?
[00:54:32] I wasn't paying attention.
[00:54:33] Yeah.
[00:54:34] What did she say?
[00:54:34] So if he had watched this movie and he had put it at like number 15,
[00:54:38] it wouldn't be in his top 10.
[00:54:40] But he would say this is where it is.
[00:54:42] Yes, of course.
[00:54:43] Here's my top 10.
[00:54:44] It's only logical because it just makes sense.
[00:54:46] Like, it would be weird to like not mention the movie we just yeah.
[00:54:49] Yeah, where does on your list next week, we're talking rip girls.
[00:54:53] Yeah, we are.
[00:54:54] Rip girls rip.
[00:54:57] Curls girls.
[00:54:59] OK, all right.
[00:55:00] Like rest in peace, obviously girls got it.
[00:55:03] But not like that's not what they were for.
[00:55:06] OK, got it.
[00:55:07] It's not our IP, it's just rip.
[00:55:09] Yeah, got it.
[00:55:09] Spelled RIP.
[00:55:10] Yes, but yeah, but I don't want to.
[00:55:12] But didn't want any confusion.
[00:55:15] No, we did.
[00:55:16] No one's confused.
[00:55:17] No, leave us.
[00:55:18] We keep explaining it to make it less confusing.
[00:55:20] The letters spell out the word rip.
[00:55:23] Like if you were going to tear something, it's not an acronym.
[00:55:27] We're going to be back next week with rip girls.
[00:55:29] Leave us a review.
[00:55:31] Send us an email if you want to find us
[00:55:32] on the social media to do all that stuff.
[00:55:34] Let us know your channel numbers from when you were a kid.
[00:55:37] What house you would be in.
[00:55:39] I did a quick Google search of apples.
[00:55:42] So many cool names.
[00:55:43] I didn't know about Jonathan apples.
[00:55:45] Yeah, how's Jonathan?
[00:55:47] Let us know where you're at.
[00:55:48] There's also Cripps Pink.
[00:55:50] That's an apple name.
[00:55:51] Yeah, I know, man.
[00:55:54] They're going to go there, but that's how we're in this episode.
[00:55:57] I'm not allowed.
[00:55:59] We'll be back next week.
[00:56:00] You're more of a bloods guy.
