August 6th August 6th That's right August 6th and then October 8th So two months and two days

I think it is Dippy, yeah

[00:07:08] But we can if we want to continue the Dippy Fest There's an accent on the E, it's Dippy We can go, we can next We can watch Garfield Gets Real Garfield Fun Fest We can watch Garfield's Pet Force So lots of Garfield's Lots of Garfield's For those that are going to continue the Dippy Fest Dippy, yeah Dippy it forward Some people say we shouldn't do two of these in a row Hey, is that movie good?

[00:07:38] It's not good Okay, because I freaking loved it Which movie? The Haley Joel Osment Kevin Spacey movie Yeah, I freaking loved it But I haven't watched it since I was a kid Oh, it made me so sad I watched it at home with my family And it made me so sad And then I had to watch it I took a psychology class in high school And she had us watch it And I thought of every excuse I could possibly think of To get out of that class

[00:08:06] I actually think that's maybe how I watched it too Some sort of class in school Pay it forward Pay it forward is a good movie Like John Q is a good movie Oh, I freaking love John Q You know that about me Exactly, exactly So like it's not a good movie Did you ever have to watch multiple times in school That movie with Something about the lions Second Hand Lions With Haley Joel Osment, Michael Caine, Robert R. Vull For some reason that movie was like the go-to It was PG

[00:08:34] When it was an off day in school My dad loves that movie It's not a bad movie That's a fun movie There's Second Hand Lions No, the other movie that we watched that I remember distinctly Was we watched A Beautiful Mind And within five minutes our teacher I had seen A Beautiful Mind as well And knew the twist Yeah And within five minutes of starting the movie Our teacher told the class the twist

[00:09:03] Why would they do that? And I've never been so angry Sorry, the twist of what? A Beautiful Mind Oh wow Have you seen A Beautiful Mind? I have but I'm trying to remember what the twist is Spoiler alert it right now Big spoiler alert You can hit mute for the next 15 seconds Please don't listen All the guys, all the people that Russell Crowe is talking to for most of the movie are not real They're fiction So the kid, so we did make it to like the first scene of him being like chased by the agents

[00:09:31] And all the boys in my class were like so into this We didn't know this was going to be like a spy movie Yeah They were so into it And the teacher's like they're not really there, he's schizophrenic Whoa! Oh my gosh That's crazy And maybe this is why I'm so adamant about not spoiling it Because I want to see your actual reaction Because I was like how could you tell them that? Like that's Can I tell you for all the BS that I give you guys about not telling me it was a 9-11 movie I 100% prefer to go into these movies knowing nothing

[00:10:01] And I do appreciate it The 9-11 one though, it was like Yeah, but You guys were laughing like this is going to be fun And it's like I've just seen when you I knew how you were going to react to that movie And I was just excited for your reaction Like I knew it But yeah Glad I could be of service So, shout out to that teacher Whose name I What's his name? I can't think of her name It's gotta be her name It's a her Man, I had pictured a dude going

[00:10:28] No, I think she thought she was helping the kids get more invested But really like they were already so invested And I think it would have blown some of their minds They don't want them to be invested for the wrong reason But this is also a class where we went off the rails halfway through the semester Like we had block scheduling so we only had the class for one semester And we ended up somehow discussing ghosts one day So not part of the curriculum

[00:10:55] And not something she did in any of our other psych classes We did a ghost hunter unit And she brought in a ghost hunter from like PBS or something like that Brand missed out To talk to our class Phenomenal We went on a field I didn't go but they went on a field trip See this is why I loved There was like a metal shop nearby that had supposedly a ghost So like some kids went at night to scope it out That's why I love block scheduling as a high schooler Because it was so easy to get off task Because you're tricked into thinking you have more time

[00:11:25] Because you got more time in one singular day So we can goof off some Yeah We spent a few weeks discussing ghosts Discussing ghosts You really got to jam it all in there And ghost hunting And that's That and watching Pay It Forward A Beautiful Mind Are what I remember from that class Fair It's block scheduling Also something else I can't mention on this podcast Just came to my mind from that class Can't mention this What could have possibly happened In a high school psych class that you can't mention on this podcast I will tell you after all Fair

[00:11:55] You gave out my address I edited that out but I'll say it again Did she bring in like Michael Jackson to talk to you guys What in the world could have happened That is not appropriate for decom descendants I don't want to talk about it Was it a crime? After watching Pay It Forward did she bring in Kevin Spacey Yeah What could it have been? Like I'm thinking full criminal activity right now No She did have us filling bags of cocaine throughout everyday class

[00:12:25] But But yeah any actual psych related stuff I don't remember from that class Fun fact in 2018 I spoke in chapel to a bunch of middle school kids And spoiled the sixth sense for them Almost 30 years after the release of the movie And I got an email from a parent The movie is almost 30 years old As somebody who is excited to watch those movies with my kids I'm pretty bummed It was 1995 though Brad And I didn't spoil it all I don't know

[00:12:54] You'd be pretty bummed I will say having kids Why I had kids in 18 But having kids I do see that We just talked about how excited we are to watch all these movies with our kids Like 30 years old One movie I don't care whatever It's not just one movie It is the movie It is the movie It's not even the best Shama movie So all that to say Mark A.Z. Depey Directed this movie I think there is a time limit on When you shouldn't I agree

[00:14:18] Big Thunder, Big Narration is how this movie starts off Marnie is preparing to speak to the Halloween Town Council We know them, we love them We've definitely seen them before We know about the council The council is a big part of this series Yes, she is trying to convince the Halloween Town Council That now that there's a portal and it's open 24-7 That the mortal world and Halloween Town 24-7 was too long to say That's exactly right

[00:14:48] That's exactly right You get it The mortal world and Halloween Town should collab more A little bit more of a collaboration And so she proposes bringing a group of Halloween Town students It's like the mortal world featuring Halloween Town Yes, that's exactly right Which is what this movie is Yes, yeah And it's frustrating Yeah Do we know the time difference between 2 and 3? I think 1 is Eastern time and 1 is Central time I don't know 1 hour

[00:15:18] 1 hour What are you talking about? Oh, I got you I want to say it's 2 It's at least a year if not 2 I think it's 2 years Because the 2nd one also takes place on Halloween Halloween Town 2 2001 So 3 years So 3 years different Is it 3 years in Oh, I don't know I was just wondering Movie wise Because it has to be at least a year Because in the 2nd one It's on Halloween When she keeps the portal open Not just on Halloween She opens it permanently

[00:15:47] And this is taking place Also around Halloween So that portal has been free Open 24-7 For a year And we're just now meeting with the council Like do they have a really big agenda? Yeah, it's what they We know all about the council I don't know what you're talking about I was just saying I didn't think about that until right now I was like That thing was just open for a year And the council was like Wait a minute Halloween Town We have to meet right now Halloween Town 2

[00:16:45] If it's after some sort of 9-11 That's when we have Halloween Town High As being responsible for Tiger Cruise Interesting Yes That's the world in which we live in So she proposes that a group of Halloween Town students Come to her high school in the mortal worlds The Halloween Town High I'm sorry The Halloween Town Council agrees to this plan After basically Marnie is like I know this is gonna work I bet all my magic on it It's gonna be a whole thing

[00:17:14] It's gonna be great And if she does not prove that she is right By midnight on Halloween Then her entire family is gonna lose their magic Those are the stakes Those are the stakes everybody Which is just something she says Because she gets angry at the council I bet my magic on it And they're like great see you later Oh we got it?

[00:19:04] One obviously To help make the Halloween town kids More comfortable But also To show off her Teaching skills I'm sure it's going to be Going to be great Cody is a new student Cody is going to be This movie's romantic interest For Marnie because Coo-boy Cody We need one Yeah We need one We gotta have one And Cody is here And Cody is cute So grandma is not good at teaching So Anything No yes

[00:19:33] And they try her at all of it They try her at all of it They say let's just try it all History Science English History And that's how teachers work They're just teachers of everything And you just get It's luck of the draw Wherever you wind up You wind up Yes And we find out that the Halloween town Students have a bit of a Like a Not like a Teacher's lounge But for freaks It's like a freak lounge It's in a locker Yeah They kind of just kind of Teleport in there kind of That's exactly right Which doesn't look weird To anybody At all Anybody in the hallway

[00:20:02] To have a dozen people Coming in and out of a locker It's all normal It's all about board That's right You might be wondering to yourself Why does grandma Keep her job As teacher And it is because Principal Has the hots for her But maybe And it might also be something To do with the knights He may be bad No but it's also that he has The hots for her Yeah He may be bad It's tough It's Everyone's got a love interest Listen

[00:22:59] Did you guys hang out At the mall A lot growing up No Very rarely I wasn't allowed To hang out with Like until I was in high school Like I wasn't My parents wouldn't Drop me off In middle school Like a lot of my friends In middle school Were dropped off At the mall to hang No we didn't do that But high school High school it was like For a certain point Like you had to get Your parents involved To drive you to the mall And then once my friend Had her license We just went to the mall Whenever we could Like for no reason Like we weren't buying anything

[00:23:27] Just to walk around Because there used to be Something called The Greenville Mall By the Woodruff Road movies And it was trash Shout out to Haywood Mall Which is thriving Thriving in the year Of our Lord 2025 It is like the place to be People are all over that I mean like the food court's great Yeah you can never find parking It's unbelievable

[00:23:57] We should have our studio in there We almost had our studio In Haywood Mall True story No I've heard this story Right where Santa was gonna be I have heard this story And I just have like Not quite PTSD Because it didn't happen But trying to keep track Of the two of you in a mall Well Lego store's right over there Yeah Imagine the Auntie Anne's Imagine how much Auntie Anne's Spin move We would consume

[00:24:27] I mean Sheesh But I can just imagine We would have like You know a 10 minute break In between recordings And then me needing to go find You guys like In a Spencer's Gifts Or something Like guys Spencer's Gifts Come on Santa's there Santa's there Hot Topic The Lego store's there Hot Topic's right over there The Apple store Let's go play with the things I'm sure there is It's like five shoe stores There is There is like a A massage chair somewhere That you know We'll never see brand again

[00:25:58] So there's that But they do go to the mall In Halloween town High brand back to me Anyway back to that I just had some nice mall feels There She loses them She finds them Purple cloud appears Should we talk about the Cody part of this scene? Where she's just with Cody What happened with Cody? Cody had asked her out Yes Because she all movie has kind of been like Oh my gosh I like this boy And I think he likes me And everyone's kind of like Hey remember the last time you liked a boy

[00:26:27] Did not go well Did not go well for anybody And she's like Oh my gosh Cody is so great He would never do that And Cody passes her a note Which awesome Love passing notes Love passing notes Just being like Do you want to go up with me on Saturday? And she says yes And then they don't talk about it again Until Saturday And he shows up Saturday morning At her house And she's like I thought our date was tonight I didn't know you meant now It's the weirdest This movie It's so weird But he follows her to the mall

[00:26:57] Which again Could be really cute But if he's a bad guy Could be really bad So You're doing a lot of the legwork here To give cute to that He shows up at her house In the middle of the day Having not planned a date And just going You're not going to hang out with me Oh you're doing something else Where I'm following you Yeah That is not Normal behavior It's cute Well it's one of those things Where like I said it's cute It's cute Well like You take like a Hallmark movie As long as You know Both leads are Like Attracted to each other

[00:31:53] But is it too late It's not And now we're At the carnival Yes we're at The carnival Can we talk about How Big of a deal This carnival It's just Unbelievable The budget is Tens of thousands Of dollars They fundraise All year For this One They don't do Anything else All year But Halloween Carnival All in Haunted house No scaries Yes Um The house is built With Marnie's magic Yeah Um So it's pretty Impressive Nobody blinks

[00:33:22] We're at the carnival And Edgar shows up And he's not happy With how well Things seem to be going Yeah Um So he brings The characters In the haunted house To life Yes In an evil way Makes it scary Yeah An actual haunted house So a bunch of ogres Who were just sitting around Having a barbecue Yeah Are now trying to eat The humans That's right So And now everyone's Scared Escalated quickly And he's like See they'll never Accept you Ha ha

[00:33:51] You failed I get your magic Immediately sucks The magic out of them That's right Um And Cody Well at first The end Roll the credits The monsters are wreaking Havoc on the carnival And Cody You know The witches are trying The carnival witches Are trying to stop it And it's not working And they can't figure out Why it's not working And Cody's like Oh my gosh Marnie I thought you were a good witch Why are you so evil Uh And then they find Edgar And realize that he's behind All of it Yeah Um We find out the principal Is one of the knights And Aggie is So disappointed Because the knights are Racist

[00:34:21] And Oh no I can't believe you would do that Against witches Against witches Um Yeah And then Edgar takes their magic And all hope Is lost That's it Until it's not Until it's not They get their magic back And it's barely an inconvenience Barely They do this thing In every movie We forgot about the plot The shenanigans What's shenanigans So after Cassie is missing The three witches Aggie and the mom And That's right She goes They're Marnie

[00:34:51] And they all talk And they're like They all put their hands in We all know what we're supposed to do And we As viewers Don't know what they're doing It's funny And the mom's been in There the whole time The mom has been In the witch glass world She finds Cassie Rescues Cassie And she also was broadcasting This whole event To the council To the council That's right So they can see how evil Edgar is That's right Um So the Cromwells Get their magic back We found Cassie They take Edgar's magic Um The principal takes his

[00:35:21] Gross ring Tosses it in Somewhere And just goes I don't want to be a knight Yeah Oh cause Aggie got hurt And he really loves Aggie And he was again With Ethan He was in on this plot As long as no one got hurt Um I'll steal a magic I'll steal a witch's magic Yes But I'm not gonna do it If somebody's getting hurt Yeah But Aggie is now hurt And I love Aggie So I'm out too This is tough though Because I hate magic But But someone with magic's hot Yeah She's a hottie It's tough

[00:35:51] It's a hard And then all You know All of this point All the Halloween town Kids have taken off Their human suits Um And it's where we're all Learning a valuable lesson Cause the kids are like Well he's a werewolf But he's also the best What is his position On the team A halfback Yeah whatever Yeah he's the best And we'll say quarterback He's the best quarterback We've ever had And you know And the troll is so smart Like everyone's like Oh yeah they're different But like They're also really nice Because they can benefit us They're good We've learned a lesson Really great lesson We've learned a lesson

[00:40:47] It's a tough movie For me to rank Cause 14 year old me Loves this movie But 34 year old me Is unsure Uh You said Aaron Uh This movie Is Uh Everything I don't like About Halloween Town Namely Most of the Characters Not being In Halloween Town Uh Halloween Town Is a Great place To be It's fun Yeah It's I'm I'm always Impressed When we're there And the fact That they said That's not

[00:41:17] The thing That pulls People Into these Movies Right Surely No way It's just The fun Fun relationships Between the Family Uh That brings People in It was A gross Uh To me at Least A gross Uh Misrepresentation Of why People like These movies Um I Was very Sad That we didn't Spend any Time in Halloween Town And uh That's That's a bummer And so uh This movie is not Very hard for me to rank Because I didn't Really enjoy it And I just Cause I was mad

[00:41:46] Every minute we spent In the mortal world Was a minute we weren't Spending in Halloween Town Which is all And that And that sucks Halloween Town's Awesome So Unfortunate Dan Yeah It just feels like They're phoning it in Here and I hate that Because I think The first Halloween Town Is one of the most Original Who's phoning it in more Halloween Town 3 Or Xenon 3 Xenon 3 By a mile By a mile Um Because I do think That why While Kimberly J. Brown Is kind of Phoning it in here She's still Really great Um

Brown being If not the best One of the best Actors that were In these decums She's still giving A good performance And you do have To honor that Even though this movie Is called Halloween Town And there is No Halloween Town I We've all said it That means probably A big deal It's probably A sticking point For us Uh Yeah The message Is It gets lost Completely If you want This movie to be A message about Accepting people

[00:42:45] For who they are Not what they look like Is the worst Possible way to do it Uh It's a mess Of a movie There's good performances In it But it's not a good movie And have I mentioned It's called Halloween Town And they aren't In Halloween Town Um Yeah All of these movies Since the first one Feel a little bit Like a You know A little bit More of a Lesser carbon copy Of the original one Like the original one Was very original And then They all have These big showdowns At the end They all have somebody
