[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.

[00:00:47] I'm going for a fact. So what more do you need? My whole life is DCOM. Hi everybody, welcome. DCOM Descendants. Welcome back. Yeah. A little hiatus. Fresh off a little break. We can take a break. Recording here is easy. Recording here is so easy. We can take a break. Guys, I'm just going to be real with you, our listeners out there. If you ever want to have like a perfect day at work, the first thing you should say when you walk into that studio is recording here is so easy. That's how we set it up. That's how we set it up.

[00:01:17] And we haven't had a single problem since one of us said that this morning. No snafu. No snafu or snafu. No snafu. Staffu. I don't know what that is. I'm glad we don't have it. Yes, we don't have it. I got the test results and I don't have the staff. You do not have the staff. Before you got here, I was telling Bran that I did have a very like panic stress dream last night that I slept through this recording. The good news is, is you'd have been very close. You could have probably made it. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:01:46] No, somehow in my dream, I slept until 11 and you two didn't like, we didn't knock on the door. We were like, well, we'll just do it. I guess we'll just do it out here. We did voices. We did voices the whole time. Aaron voice. Hey, uh, brand. What if I told you we had a new review, but still the same number of ratings? Well, I'll take it. You stop clapping after two. I'll take it. I'll take it. Stuck at one 70, but a new review, which means someone reviewed us. Someone reviewed us or someone took away their review.

[00:02:16] Well, it could be that whatever you're about to read is an updated review. Sometimes that happens. This is from six days ago. Okay. Could you imagine if it's someone who gave us a five star and they updated it? It's from Sierra, smiley face, uh, Brett bread. Listen, Sierra. I get it. Oh, bread. We love bread. We love bread. We love bread. We love bread. We've been very clear there. Thank you so much for reviewing D comes every week. Even the ones that aren't quite perfect. I'm a bread baker in Seattle. There it is. Sierra.

[00:02:45] And I really look forward to tuning in during my long shifts, hearing your thoughts on some of my childhood favorites makes the day a little brighter. Some delish recipes might be a bit questionable. LOL. For sure. But that's part of the fun and keeps me coming back. Please don't stop. That's from Sierra. That definitely is a new review. Yeah. Red Baker from Seattle. We would have remembered that on this program. Meredith does want everyone to know that Dan needs to take advice from Strut and free his mind. Oh my gosh.

[00:03:12] The Cheetah Girls 2 movie is a masterpiece of modern cinema. Case closed. Aaron for queen, brain for king, Dan for prince. Wow. Wow. Oh, Meredith. I won't have it. I won't have it. I'll recuse the title. Wow. I will. You can't do that. You're just a prince. Yeah. I'll look. You have no power. Abdicate. I'll abdicate the prince throne. You have no power here. Yeah. I am remembering that I promised to wear my tiara for the Cheetah Girls 2 episode. Embarrassing. And you think your office queen. That's crazy. It's just crazy.

[00:03:43] Hypothetically, I'm in the middle of moving and not hypothetically. I am in the middle of moving. You don't act like you don't know exactly where that is. I'm not sure. I know it's in a box. You know exactly where that tiara is. I actually do. You can. I was just thinking about it and I was like, I know I packed it and I just can't remember if that box has made it to the new place yet. The real office queen would know exactly where it is. I'll just say that. Yeah. I'm not trying to throw anybody under the bus here. Well, listen, clearly we've learned this morning. I don't know what day it is. I was coming into work tomorrow.

[00:04:13] You were locked and ready to go in. I was locked and ready to come into work tomorrow. Make a long trek. I also didn't pack any oven mitts. So oven mitts did not make it to the new place. The good thing is that the delicious isn't baked. Nah. The timer was going off and I went, uh oh. Oh no. What'd you do? Um, I had a dish towel. Oh, good for you. Yeah. We are talking jump in today. I'm doing great. Yeah. Crushing it.

[00:04:39] Corbin blue movie where he is, he wants to do something else and he was not sure if his dad's going to support him or not. Uh, and maybe he dances. He learned a lesson from his friend, Troy. Yeah. Maybe he dances a little bit. Does it sound like high school musical? Maybe it does, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Amen. Uh, it's time for the delish. Aaron. Yeah. You were tasked with coming up with some sort of delish for this jump rope movie with no food in it. Yes. Yeah.

[00:05:09] Now the team name is the red hot chili peppers. Red hot chili steppers. And dad makes bad chili. That's right. And so. I made chili. You made chili. No, you did not. Chili brownies. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Um, I made double Dutch chocolate brownies. Yeah. Okay. There is. There is. So. I like to think I gave an assist here. You did. I said Dutch chocolate. I just, I feel like I helped out. I never helped out on the delish. So. You did it. I worked on the record. Just all credit to Dan. Shout out. To me. I assume you're not eating one right now. I'm not.

[00:05:39] I obviously am. I have no control. How'd they go? Delicious. It's just. That's the segment. We did it. Double Dutch. We did it. Double Dutch. If you'd thrown a little bit of chili pepper in there. Uh huh. That chocolate. That would have been a delish. Okay. Go back. Try again. That was the best idea I had. And I did that after you made it. That's how I am constructive in my criticism. Someone that didn't even try the brownies. Well, when we get to the. I'm working on it. When we get to the end of the DCOMs.

[00:06:09] And then we start our DCOM descendant rewatch podcast. Yeah. Where we rewatch ourselves. Dan tries the delish. It's a segment after we finish where I try to make all the things Aaron made successfully. It's not a bad idea. Now. It's YouTube only. Do you guys know. We do a channel where like you attempt to bake and I attempt. That's right. To like use the smoke. Yeah. I love it. Where did the term double Dutch come from? I don't know. You got. It's just two ropes and you're spinning them. I'm imagining it comes from the Dutch.

[00:06:40] I imagine it comes from the fact there's two ropes. Yes. So two. But some Dutch. What? One jump rope. We'll call it just jump rope. Jump rope. Two jump ropes double Dutch. We'll call it double Dutch. I am double Dutch for the jump rope game is thought to have originated from English speakers observing Dutch settlers playing the game in America. They jump rope when they settle in America. I don't know about that. I mean, it's very. Maybe they had some some sort of.

[00:07:08] It was an unfamiliar activity for the English and double Dutch was an existing slang term for something unintelligible or confusing. The Dutch language is a language that kind of combines a lot of elements. Yeah. And if you don't speak it, it's very easy to get lost in the ochres there. So people watched these people jumping and they said, look at the look at those double Dutch. No, look at them. Look at the double. They were like, what kind of jump rope is that? That's we'll call it double because that was the term used for things I didn't understand anyway.

[00:07:38] All right. There you go. There you go. Take a break. We'll come back and we'll talk about jumping recording. Here's easy. We'll talk about it. Decom Descendants. Decom Descendants. Decom Descendants. Riding a bike. Mm-hmm. Ba-ba-ba-ba. Decom Descendants. Undercover. Welcome back, everybody. We're talking about Jump In today. Jump In.

[00:08:04] A movie that premiered on the Disney Channel on January 12th, 2007. So two days after my birthday. All right. So I don't know. Did you celebrate it? I'm sure I did. By jumping a little. Of course. Jumping in. That's right. With a deco. It was Florida. I'm sure it was warm enough out there to get out there and jump. You big jump rope guy growing up? No. Production companies, Hop Skip and Jump Productions. Yeah. Love that for them.

[00:08:29] This movie is of course starring Corbin Blue and Kiki Palmer and then some other folks that I'm sure. Fun fact from Disney High. I'm going to talk about this all the time. Yeah. No, I know. It's all good stuff. It was all the same production company and they just changed the names for the movies. Yeah. I can believe it. Um, this movie was written by Doreen Spicer, uh, Donnelly, Regina Y. Hicks and Karen Gist.

[00:08:56] And then it was directed by the Paul Hohen who we have seen. We've seen before. Many, many movies, uh, including, uh, read it and weep. Eddie's million dollar cook off. Some classics. True wish. True confessions. Luck of the Irish. Oh, wow. And, uh, was also, and I found this out and looking him up was attached to a failed, uh, high school musical series that they were going to put on the Disney channel, but did come

[00:09:25] back and directed a few episodes of high school musical, the musical, the series. So, yeah. I mean, so this movie you could say safely didn't need the Kenny or take a bump. This one did not need the Kenny or take a bump. I mean, this guy's a pro. He's a pro. Yeah. Um, and also he's still around. He did zombies three in 2022. Still doing it. So he's still up to, he did zombies for coming out later this year. And he was the director of it. So there you go. Are we ready to dive in to jump in? Are we ready to jump on it? I don't watch the Disney channel.

[00:09:55] Okay. Anymore. Um, cause I just watch all of these on Disney plus. Right. But even I have seen plenty of commercials for zombies for, they love the zombies for They are pushing that movie hard. I mean, that's when you hit your stride. The fourth one is, are the zombies, are the zombie movies? Are they musicals? They're musical. I love a musical. I love a musical. Those don't count, right? That's after we're done. No, they're. No, no, no.

[00:10:26] This one is a decom. They've come back. Okay. So I don't really know what we're going to do. Like two movies as Disney original and zombies three is one of them. So we're in a, we're in a sticky wicket there. We just skip to three and four. I don't know. One in two are decoms. Three is a Disney movie. Three is a dom. A Disney original movie. And then we're back to decoms. Got it. Back to decoms. So we're going to have to make a decision there at some point. The decision is we do them because Descendants is also a Disney original movie. Descendants four. Descendants four is a dom. Okay. Yeah. Got it.

[00:10:57] I think if it's, I think if it's a part of a decom series, then it only makes sense that's how we do it. This is, we were making up the rules. We go along here. We're in unprecedented territory. Unprecedented? Yeah. With it. With the, with the, we don't have a president. We're unprecedented. Yes. Could we be? Yes. Um, never been more for anarchy in my life. Say hello to Izzy Daniels. Izzy Daniels. Turns out he is. I'm fine. According to his name.

[00:11:25] And he is a star boxer in Brooklyn. And he also likes to flip around town. He, uh, takes the, the, the hard way around town where he just flips over fences. Brooklyn is notoriously flippable. It's a flippable. You just flip from block to block. No problem. Yeah. They call it the flipping burrow. Could you run laps around the block? No. No. You can flip them. You want to flip around? Could you use the gate? And what's interesting about this is that no one saw Izzy doing this and went, maybe

[00:11:54] boxing's not going to be just it for him. Like maybe there's something else with him. Cause he's flipping around town. Like maybe there, maybe he could do something with that. Yeah. I would say like the fact that this kid can do all of the moves that he, like nobody was like, maybe it's master. Like, like, like do. Yeah. You're not utilizing all the flipping that you're able to do. Like, I, I just feel like, yeah, he, I would have as a parent been like, what else can we? Yeah.

[00:12:22] Uh, he also likes to mess with the double Dutch team, uh, that lives near him, uh, specifically Mary. Um, I would specify. Yeah. Mary's team. Cause I think Brooklyn is full of double Dutch. Yes. It's full. Yes. But the one that is every neighborhood has a double. Yeah. You guys, you get it. If you down South, every neighborhood has a swim team, Brooklyn double Dutch. Double Dutch teams. Um, Mary lives as far. Which the Dutch did settle in New York. Do you think that there's.

[00:12:51] There's something to it. It's true. Uh, shout out Brooklyn. So, uh, Mary doesn't get enough shout outs. No, they don't. Mary lives in or. Next to. Adjacent to, uh, Izzy's home or establishment. Guys. I don't know what it is. It's an apartment. It's a house. It looks like is they might live in two separate apartment buildings and then. That are connected by. Courtyards. Like face each other. Yeah. And the fire escapes.

[00:13:20] Um, and in the famous words of brand, what's going on in the back area? What's going on in the back area? What's going on in the back area? Yeah. I still can't make heads or tails of it specifically the tails, the back. Uh, so Mary's team is called the joy jumpers and they are prepping for regionals. And if they do well in the regionals, then they'll go to. I don't know. Uh, really ruined any sort of competition for me.

[00:13:48] Cause I just assume you compete for regionals seven years in a row. And then. Regionals are important. We know that. Very important. Maybe the most important. Dan, you're the only one, uh, betwixt us that has, uh, coached and has tried to make it into various tournaments. To regionals. Break it down for us. Did your team make it to regionals? We have regionals and then we have. So you do play. City and then states. You in, in our neck of the woods, it was regionals than state. Okay.

[00:14:18] That's it. Now, when I was in high school, it was regional, your region, and then it was upper state and lower state. Oh, and it was state. Oh, but region was the first block. It was never like region, state, national, national. If you're doing something like that for high schools, it doesn't extend past state. State is the top of the mountain, but if you're doing something outside of high school, you will be. Now what about literally world series region? Then you have, you actually have super regionals. I believe there. I know super regional.

[00:14:47] I know it's a whole thing, but you have region like your, your region in your state. And then there's a region of the country who decides the super region. There's a, it's like, it's probably South. Yeah. Like Southeast, Northeast, West, Midwest. So you have those regionals and then you have the world series, which is actually, you actually have nationals and then you have world series. Cause you have teams from all over the world. That's right. Now what about the world series of poker? That is just a matter of money. Okay. You have money of $10,000. You buy into the main event.

[00:15:17] That's how that works. Yeah. No, you're welcome. You want to do it? I would love to. If we ever had money, I would love to go play in the world series of poker. I give you the A-OK. 10 grand. So you use 10 K from the company. Done. Done. That's all I needed. We had to have a talk about it. It was over $500. We had that talk. It's recorded. In three years. I would like for you, I want you to work. I want you to get back on the horse. You haven't played in a while. I haven't played in a while. So you want to do some. Yeah. I want you to get back in it. Your first match back should not be. That's right.

[00:15:46] You even, even you have to acknowledge. No, no, no. Really with the world series of poker and we're on a full tangent now, the first like three or four hours of that event are very important because it, you, everyone has the same stack of chips and the blinds go up pretty quickly and you can get out pretty quickly. Even good players can. If you make it past like the first day of that event, then you got like, you get in a rhythm. You just got to be patient and like pick your spots. Feel the rhythm. How far do you have to make it to get your 10 K back?

[00:16:16] It's not, it's different every year because of how the game is played, but when everyone's in the money in the money means you're going to make more than your 10 K. If you lose before that point, you make nothing. So it's like a pretty hard and fast line. And then when the last person, but it changes year to year, year to year, when the last person leaves and they know that everyone else in the money, they ring a bell and everyone kind of stops and celebrates that they've made money at the world series of poker. That's exciting. And so you just want to make it to the bell. You want to make it to the bell. Yeah. You make it to the bell. You want to make it to the merge and survivor. You make it to the bell.

[00:16:45] And every hour after that, you're just making the more money than you can imagine. Like you're just kind of racking up. We have to make it to the merge. Should we have a company trip to a casino? Yeah. To practice. To practice. We did that. And we lost a lot of money. We didn't do great. Well, I just think that maybe if I was there too. That would have helped for sure. Losing more money. Oh, shove off both of you. Thank you very much. I've thought about several times if we had just pocketed our original return and not tried to go harder, we'd have been fine.

[00:17:14] The biggest mistake we made was when we began to lose, we panicked a bit and then we split off and we panicked. We split off first. Oh, and then we made all that money. And then we, the next morning we're like, we could split off and double it. Yes. That was where we, yes. I think if we just went and we just stuck to our goals and we, we took the original call back to a podcast. You'll never hear this list. Oh, just list. Yeah. You are not even in the ball. You can't even Bramble gym plus recording here. So easy.

[00:17:45] Do you think we have the making the merge podcast on the Bramble gym network? Do you think we should have the making the bell podcast? I would talk about world series of poker. Yeah, I'm here for it. And you explain to me what's happening. Cause I don't frigging know. Okay. So jump in the joy jumpers, the joy jumpers are there. They live in a regional. They live in the same building or different buildings, but the very least connected. Their bedrooms.

[00:18:13] Don't guys don't, don't ask. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It's not important. It's not important, but he's always looking up at her window. Like that's the thing. It's like, it just, someone should have noticed that this could be problematic that this, this kid is constantly just looking to see if he can spot her through the window. Also, I do love that she has a full balcony and he just has a fire escape. Yeah. Once again, another D come where I imagine the kids have the best room in the house and that's fine.

[00:18:43] I would love to see Kiki Palmer's parents. Oh yeah. Room in that house because Kiki's looks ginormous. Brooklyn notorious for multiple balconies in his apartments. Yeah. Their balcony massive on a different back. I would have loved the deleted scene. It's the third back. It's the third back. Where Mary's on her balcony and Izzy's watching her and then you pan down and the parents are on their balcony staring at Izzy. Like, hey bro. Don't, don't.

[00:19:11] One day Izzy is, one day Izzy is taking his sister to go watch the joy jumpers compete. There's a flood at the gym that dad owns. Yeah. So dad can't take her. And so, um, while they're on their way, he confronts the neighborhood bully Rodney, uh, who doesn't seem very impressed that, uh, Izzy has been doing his training and is, is ready for the fight. He's like, whatever. I'm not, they're going to have a fight and he's not, they're both boxers. They're both boxers. Trying to get invited to the golden gloves, the golden gloves. And Rodney is not impressed with Izzy.

[00:19:41] Izzy is not impressed with Rodney and we'll see what happens next. Uh, when we get to the double Dutch competition, Izzy is surprised by how much he loves watching the competition. Yeah. This is a lot of fun. They're jumping quick. And then sometimes they freestyle, uh, which is not rap. No, different freestyle. We don't know if that is a part of it. We don't see it here. Based upon the last competition. It could be. It very much could be a freestyle rap. Yes. But as far as we know, it's just freestyle.

[00:20:11] That's right. Have we talked about the narrator yet? Uh, no, we have not. Okay. Talk about the narrator. Yeah. The first 30 to 40 minutes include a heavily narrated, uh, performance from a, a gentleman that has to be 50 plus years old. And it's important to note that this narrator is speaking about Izzy and Rodney in the third person. He is clearly omniscient. So he knows the story already being told in the future. So we're trying to figure out where like, is it, is he's dad maybe talking about it?

[00:20:40] And he's telling the story in the future. Yes. And he's telling it where everybody's name, he doesn't ever talk about himself. So we don't know who it is, but we're starting to eliminate people. There is like this older, uh, guy with sage wisdom. That's kind of around the gym. And we're like, maybe it's him. That's right. More on that to come more on that. And then about 45 minutes into this movie, the narrator disappears for the next 30 and then shows back up for the last 10 to 15. There we go. What's your problem with that?

[00:21:10] Either start with narration and in with it, bookend it and leave it alone or wonder years, does that sucker and make it can or Shawshank redemption, that sucker and make it consistent throughout the movie. Those are your two options. You anything else is bad, bad movie making. And that's what they do here for those playing along at home. Dan made it five days into June without mentioning the Shawshank. So yeah, that's actually my, that might be a record. Wait a minute. Wait a record. Yeah.

[00:21:39] Five days. Um, we get to the competition. Oh yeah. Is he so bright? He loves it. And, uh, the joy jumpers take fourth place, which I guess is good enough to qualify for the city finals city, which is what Wikipedia said about it lower than city. No, no, no. They're preparing for region. I got it. Regionals is where they want to go. That's right. And they got to get to city first. They got to get to city first. Shout out. So, um, but he doesn't have time to think about double Dutch because he's got a boxing

[00:22:08] match against Rodney to see if, uh, which of them is going to go to the golden gloves, uh, which is, I guess like the boxing equivalent of regionals. Well, golden gloves, I think is from the very little they discussed it in this movie. I think it's invite only because he's, his dad says, I got you another like exhibition match. He he's like, almost, he's like, did you get me in the golden gloves? And he's like, almost, we got to do one more exhibition match. And it's like, we mean, and it's Rodney. He's got a fight against.

[00:22:38] Is this when he says, I've got good news and good news. Yeah. You want to hear my great news? And it's like, you almost might be in. And then we never hear the other good news. No, no. Oh, I think the good news is you're almost in good, good news. I got you another exhibition match. Which is going to give you another opportunity to get invited. And then he says, I'll be right back. Yeah. Never shows up. And then that fight with Rodney's kind of like, uh, he falls. Yeah. So. And he gets credit for a knockout. Yeah. Yeah. He gets the knockout.

[00:23:07] Rodney's real mad and basically like, Hey, you didn't actually knock me out. I want to rematch. And Izzy's like, no, no, no. I'm onto the, I'm onto the GGs. And Rodney says, okay, bet. I'll make your life. All right, bet. That's right. Um, so he walks outside and he sees the joy jumpers out there. Minus one of the members, uh, who has quit, uh, because she thinks that. Yeah. And she thinks that Mary's. Seriously enough. Mary's dances are whack. Not committed to the game. Yeah. She's here to win.

[00:23:35] So she joined the, the, the, the diamond, the Dutch dragons. So if you're Dutch, that's gotta be offensive, right? Like, you know, you're watching this going, why are you the Dutch? I know double Dutch is the jump rope, but like, if you're Dutch, like, how do we get here? Where are the dragons dragons? Dutch dragons. I don't think that's offensive. I'd be like, if you're like, why are they the Dutch dragons? Like, cause they're double Dutchers. Because we're, I would take it as like, we're fierce and we're powerful. And like, I don't think it's the dragon part that Dan's saying.

[00:24:04] It's like, how do we get the Dutch dragons? Because it's double Dutch. Cause it's double Dutch. The double Dutch. But I think what they're saying, what we're saying here is that if you're, as long as you're doing double Dutch, you can call yourself that when you begin, like you can't. Yeah. Be a basketball team and call yourself the Dutch dragons. I don't think that's offensive in this movie. I want to be very clear. I think it's above board. I'm saying if you're Dutch and watching this movie, you're like, how do we get here? Whereas there is a part in this movie where someone just all out makes fun of someone

[00:24:32] that has an intellectual disability for laughs that didn't age particularly well. And I think we've already glossed over that. And that's fine. Yeah. Mid 2000 is a tough time. Tough time. Tough time. Which, yeah. To that point, I didn't include it in the letterbox review, but like you mentioned that this whole, like the, they're walking this with Rodney and they do this thing. And one of the kids speaks in a way to where he's clearly mocking somebody who has a disability.

[00:24:59] Um, but the letterbox review was something along the lines of Disney knows that it can't just come at, like the bully can't come out and call Izzy gay. So he just has to kind of tell him that jump roping is bad, but no one really knows. That's right. Like what's the problem here? So they were learning that in 2007. Yes. But they didn't. We can't really. But everybody knows in the mid 2000s, that's what Rodney would be saying about it. Rodney was saying that nonstop. 100%. Yes.

[00:25:26] But they decided that's where the line was with, with mocking people. So Disney really, they're trying out there, I guess. I don't know. Uh, so he, uh, sees the joy jumpers and notices that they are missing a member. He decides he's going to get like, give it a shot. Cause he just kind of wants to see if he can do it. And, uh, they're all shocked to find that, that he's really good. I'm not because I've seen him jump around Brooklyn. I've seen him do flips around Brooklyn. We've seen the flip. Yeah. He's a Brooklyn flipper.

[00:25:53] And then we've also seen him just do jumping, jump rope in the gym for boxing. Yes. Um, and so the joy jumpers invite him to be the fourth member. He says, uh, jump open. It's not for him. He doesn't have time. He's a boxer. He's trying to go to the golden gloves. He's trying to go to the GGs. He's got no time to just be jumping rope. But he's also crushing hard on Mary. He's watching her from his window. And, uh, he's in a, he's like, you know what?

[00:26:22] After they ask him like three times, I think he ends up saying yes. And so over, they switch it to being like, it's when he, the, the two friends of Mary are having dinner. They run into Izzy and they're like, okay, Mary really wants you. But like, we don't even want you on the team full time. Like, can you just practice with us while we find a fourth member? Yeah. Like, can you just be a fill in? And he's like, oh, it's not permanent. I can, I can do that. And it's cause Mary wants me. All right. I'm in the girl.

[00:26:52] I watch every night from my bedroom. Well, listen, our, our rooms, uh, it's like, uh, the back area, the back area. I'm not looking, you know, I just, you know how you are as a window. I'm looking out the window. She happened to be there. Listen, all I know about if there's one thing I know about high schoolers, that they're always just kind of looking out the window with their thoughts. You know, they're not trying to, he's not trying to spy on, on Mary. He's just, you know, what's really great about my new place? What's that?

[00:27:21] Um, so easy to record really. So easy to record there. Um, the windows don't face anybody. It's true. The windows in my, like the windows in my bedroom just face. It's a space woods. So I could stare out the window with my thoughts and it would be above for you to assume that there's nobody in the woods is well now I'm scared. Uh, there's always somebody in the woods.

[00:27:49] Uh, because, uh, so over the next, I don't know, several days or weeks, I'm not sleeping tonight. Uh, over the next several days or weeks. I am not really sure about the timeline of this movie is he begins to spend more time with the Julie jumpers. He begins to get really good at it. He's helping them come up with the new, uh, routine and all this stuff. And while he's doing that really classic, like he, while he's out flipping around Brooklyn,

[00:28:17] he bumps into not a competitive team, but just like a fun neighborhood. We're like, it's just a bunch of kids double dutching for funsies. Yeah. And he brings Mary and her friends over and he's like, we're so focused on winning. Look at how they do it on the street. But how did you get started in this? Yeah. Love of the game. Take it back to why you love double dutch and it, you know, changes their whole freestyle. Cause they're like, Oh, we can have fun. We can have fun. And that's what they were missing. They were missing the fun. They learned the lesson of the yarn bomber.

[00:28:44] Again, that's a, that is a deck, the hallmark. That's deck, the hallmark. That's deck, the hallmark. That is not this list. You're making the merge. That is deck, the hallmark. Um, or you'll have a go. Or making the bell. Making the bell. This Wednesday world series of poker. Do we have too many podcasts? No. Yes. When is the world series of poker? I'll wait for you. It is May 27th to July 16th. It's happening right now. Whoa. Oh, so that's actually a really big commitment. No, that's the main event. Doesn't last that long. That's the whole thing.

[00:29:14] There's more events. The main event is July 2nd to 16th. So if you are, if you make the money, you probably are there through July 4th. Yeah. I think once you get past that first threat, that money threshold, things get really serious. Mm-hmm. So people start taking their time. They start taking breaks. It becomes a whole thing. Yep. Great. Okay. So, uh, perfect time for us to like here, like I could do that. I could win all the money and then come back.

[00:29:44] No problem. Perfect. Yeah. Perfect timing. Yeah. Uh, you don't have to be there for any of your favorite part of like making decisions about designs and stuff. No, exactly. We'll do all the setup. You guys do all that and we're good to go. And then you just roll in. Still need a t-shirt design. And the fun thing about poker is there's not a lot of talking. So you would be saving your voice for Rammel Fest. I could put on headphones and like a flat bill hat and just sunglasses can be one of those. You can wear headphones. You can wear sunglasses. I feel like that's. You don't talk. You don't have to talk to anybody. That should be against the rules though. You could be getting. From who? Where? They, they are pretty secure on that stuff. Yeah.

[00:30:14] But I'm just saying if you, what are you listening to? Whatever you want. Right. So you could be tapped into something. Someone is on the other line. What if you can't use wireless headphones? You have to just bring in your old iPod and like wired headphones. You could be. What are they telling you? If somebody is like looking in or something or on the TV or something. It's not like old timey poker brand. The two cards are on the table and the guy will look like. Yeah. But if you're watching live, that shows up. They don't show it live. They, they, they put it on ESPN months later.

[00:30:43] There's literally no way for them to cheat. Dan. There's no way for me to know that. There's so many ways for you to know that. I wish there was a podcast that would tell me about the world. Making the bell coming soon to Bramble Jam plus. Uh, Oh, it's really as all behind the wall. As soon as we make 10 grand, I will go out there. And I'll try to make the bell. There you go. That's pretty good. I love it. Uh, so 35,

[00:31:09] and then I will have a rival podcast about like cheating the bell. Cheating the bell. I try to prove you can cheat at world. You can cheat just not with headphones is all I'm saying. You can 100% cheat. You can't cheat with headphones. Okay. How can you cheat? If you were next to someone. Are we just giving away the whole podcast now? I'm sure there are plenty of ways to see other people's cards, but none where someone has a radio and they're looking at the, like they don't allow that. They don't allow people to stand behind you.

[00:31:38] I'm not saying I wouldn't think that they would allow it, but I'm sure somebody is trying to figure it out. That's all I'm saying. Of course they don't allow it. That's why they call it cheating. That's why they call it cheating. That's why they call it cheating. So while all this is happening, he begins to like, he's waking up really early for double Dutch. And then he's by the time boxing come around, he's tired and his boxing skills are suffering. His dad is very disappointed in him. He missed dinner. Yes. And he's dinners at seven o'clock and dinner is served promptly at seven. And don't you be late? Yes.

[00:32:06] And so his dad is like very frustrated and he's keeping this whole double Dutch thing from his dad. Can you imagine eating dinner every night at seven? It's ridiculous. Can you imagine eating dinner? I'm going to be dinner multiple nights a week at seven. I did it. I did it twice this week. It's the first time I've done it twice in since probably this time last year because of the trip I went on and I was, I was mad. He's mad. And it was an hour behind. So we were eating dinner at 738, which was 839 here.

[00:32:34] I'll go back through the tape and try to find it. Cause I think when the dad says that, I think we all had a pretty, like we were like, what are you doing? Why'd you wait for, to feed your children to seven? Like we're not even concerned. Izzy came home late. We're like seven dinners at seven sharp every night. So, uh, after, uh, Izzy begins to really enjoy himself. He agrees to join the team permanently. And he comes up with the name, the hot. They're talking about finding another person. How about I just stick around? And Izzy's just kind of like,

[00:33:03] whatever was me. And what if we were the hot chili steppers? Cause what if, what if I, and also I'm a boy, so I can't compete under the name joy jumper. Yeah. Um, I don't want people making fun of me. Like, all right, what do you got? And he said, hot chili steppers and they're in, and immediately they're like in, and they love it. They love it. Uh, fans. Yeah. So I do wish they had named themselves the red, hot chili steppers because they were in red shirts too. It was right there. But like, cause every time I say hot chili steppers,

[00:33:33] I have to remind myself that it's not red, hot. I mean, I would say, I would, I know that it's, I know to say steppers, but like, it's so in me to say red, hot chili steppers. Right. And that's not your fault. Uh, Izzy plans to, uh, perform with the double Dutch, uh, at the double Dutch, like there's like some sort of expedition. Um, to kind of practice. You mean exhibition, whatever expedition. They went on a journey. Like it's a journey. It's a journey. They went on a journey. They might have,

[00:34:03] they might have left Brooklyn. That's right. And that's an expedition. I was today is years old when I found out that those are two different words. Um, Yeah. I thought they were the same thing. Like the Lewis and Clark expedition. Yes. Was like a practice run. You know, I thought it was like the same thing. No stakes in the Lewis. No, no, no. It's all a journey. We're all journeying to. Exhibition is more of like a showcase or performance. Yeah. The Ford expedition. It's all a part of the journey. Was a SUV with the name of a practice or not for real. you could go on an expedition to the exposition.

[00:34:33] No, no, no. It's not about, I, I think you're giving me too much credit because you're assuming that I knew that it meant practice. You could cheat at the world series of poker. Yeah. That's what I know. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. Not a game. So I think part of it is Dan is that like, I knew a couple of years ago, there was this big controversy. I don't know if it was around the world series of poker or something else, but somebody was accused of having somebody, um,

[00:35:02] like buzz them the answer. They had a, like a, I'm going to look it up. Like a vibrating system where somebody was watching on and they would give them the answer through some sort of vibrating something or other. So players are allowed to use, uh, approved electronic devices, uh, during tournament play until the tournament reaches the final three tables. Because I think at that point they do have the lot it's live and there's cameras. Um, all electronic devices, including headphones must be removed at that point.

[00:35:30] So as long as it's proved, like if you get it approved, you can use it. But that's why I thought it. Cause at some point a couple of years ago, there was this whole, like there was a someone on the outside that was buzzing in the correct answers. And they had this system set up where the, they knew this many buzzes means fold this many, like that whole system set up in December. One of the WSOP events changed the rules to not include electronic devices. Um, at all,

[00:35:58] because I think something happened to one ago just at that one event, not the one in Vegas. Interesting. That's how I got there. That's how I got there. This is a poker heavy episode. You don't even need to tune into making the bell. Cause we've given you all the information. I think you want to make the bill. Yeah. If you could go ahead, uh, Aaron, do us a favor, pull out all the poker stuff and put it into a, another episode. And then we can, and then we'll just use that. Yeah. That'd be really good. According here is easy. Um, making the bell. Yeah. I'll be right back. So he,

[00:36:27] he's supposed to go to this expedition exhibition. And instead his dad's like, I got his tickets, got his tickets to see this box famous box. Yeah. And he doesn't communicate at all with these girls that he's not going to make it. He can't say no to his dad because his dad's already kind of frustrated, frustrated with him. And he doesn't want to tell his dad that he loves. And his cover is going to be blown. If he says, I like to jump rope there. I mean, this is that, that period of time where they did not have cell phones. Um, he does call Mary's house,

[00:36:58] but yeah, but while they're like, I was sending hella text in 2007. I want to be very clear. Don't have cell phones. Get out of here. I it's the period of time where it wasn't the expectation. It is now where every student has one. Yes. I mean, I had one. You were an adult in 07, but I think my, the rule typically with, with families that had a little bit of money, at least was once your kids are going to be alone. Yeah. Right around Izzy's age. That's when they get a cell phone. Yeah. But I think for a D-com you can,

[00:37:27] this is like, you could make it. You couldn't make a D-com now set in 2025. No way. And be like, those kids are not phones. Like nobody would buy that. You could get away with it in 07. Yeah. But in 07, it wasn't weird that they didn't, but yeah. So he does try to call, but in my mind, or like the way it seemed in the timing of the movie, he waited a couple hours. They're already like, they're already there. He's gotta be honest with someone. Yeah. It doesn't matter who, if he wants to hide it, he can go to these three girls and go, I have to hide this. That's the only way I can compete.

[00:37:57] And my dad just did this thing. I'm out. Yeah. Or he can go to his dad and go, I like to jump rope, which seems like the easier option, like the easier option, but he doesn't do that either. Yes. And so he ends up letting the team down. Mary's very mad. Mary basically tells him that he's kicked off the team and then things go from bad to worse. She's like, we need to be able to count on you. So he's already, you just bail. Yeah. He's already kind of, cause I would imagine like, could, can you even compete with just three?

[00:38:27] Did they have to go up on stage and they start to compete? We don't get to see. So clearly they can, but I don't think it went well. I don't think they should. That's what that's, you can't, maybe you can't. There's some of those moves when like the two in the middle transition to be on the outside. Like, yes, it's just not, you're going to lose a lot of points when two people are swinging the ropes and only one person's doing the tricks. Yes. Now what he isn't aware of is that a couple of days ago while they were practicing, Rodney walked in with his professional grade camera, took some pictures. he walked in, saw them left,

[00:38:56] got camera and friend came back. Yeah. And that camera is very nice. And so they took, he took pictures of it. And then after getting kicked off the team, he walks into school and there's just flyers. They go straight to Kinko's. Yes. It's 24 hours. They get flyers with these pictures printed and on pink paper. Pink paper again, like you can't say you can't, you can't. And Rodney made multiple prints. There's one of the core band with just the word loser.

[00:39:24] One like sugar and spice. And there's one that's like hand drawn, which is very clearly intimated. He is at the very least super sissy and effeminate for jumping rope. Yes. that's the, that's what they're pushing. That's the agenda. Even if you knew anything about a double Dutch competition, which I think everyone at this school should, because there's 27 teams from this neighborhood. Schools in Brooklyn. Yeah. Everyone should know about it. It's impressive. Like I would be like,

[00:39:54] how, how, how are we making fun of this kid? Like I can't, I can't do it. It's going to be in my not hot take. That's a different podcast. We have a lot of recordings easier. It would be in my overtime, but the, the, the straw man of this movie is, is that everyone thinks double Dutch is dumb and stupid. Which is, yeah, but it's weird because there's 27 teams from this neighborhood. If you were big into something that was a team sport with a lot of dudes like football,

[00:40:24] would the dudes in the football team maybe in the locker room, give you a hard time for double Dutch jumping? Yes. But at the end of the day, they would, it would be a classic, probably toxic masculinity thing. It wouldn't be a school wide. Can you believe this jump rope and mofo? It would not be that people. Even like, he's just like walking down the street at one point and he passes these kids and they all make fun of him. And it's like ridiculous. It's ridiculous. It's the worst part of this movie is, is the straw man is no guy, double Dutchess.

[00:40:54] That's the straw man. Even though we go to the competition and there's full teams of men. So many dudes. It's that is the big, probably underpinning issue of the movie. That's where the movie kind of, I kind of lost faith in the movie. But that's how his dad finds out. Yes. Correct. Yeah. So his dad does go in to give him some golden gloves for the golden gloves. Yeah. And there it's, it's a necklace that he received when he went to the golden gloves. Now he's passing it on to his son. Very much like when, uh, Corey's dad gives him his golden gloves.

[00:41:23] Cause he boxed in the Navy. In Boy Meets World. Uh, good. So he walks in and I had to transition there. You're fine. I didn't make it easy on you. So, uh, his dad walks in. Corey. And I immediately thought of that. So even I was like, I don't remember that. There's no way that Corey box. No, there's no way. So, um, nor did his dad. Corey didn't box his dad boxed.

[00:41:52] And Corey's dad gave it to him because he's like, now you're a man. You're like 13. Here's, here's my golden gloves. And then he lost into the swimming pool. I mean, come on. He has to sneak in. Yeah. Feeney finds him. He's like, what are you, what are you doing? That's going to be in our Boy Meets World segment on making the bell, which is a weird combo. We're Matt. We're Matt. We're Matt. We're doing this world. We are seeing every episode. It has some sort of Boy Meets World time. That's right. Yeah. Um, so dad finds out dad finds out. He sees the crumpled up,

[00:42:22] uh, he goes fires and trash. Yeah. As you do as a parent. And so he confronts him, sees the multiple pieces of evidence that his son is getting bullied, severely bullied at school. So he goes to have a heart to heart with his son. Correct? No, he bullies him too. He's like, let me pile on here. If we could, you know, you don't want to box your jumping rope. Yeah. And this is when, uh, he basically tells his dad, like, Hey, I don't, I don't want to want a box. Ever since mom died, you've been all about boxing. And I'm like,

[00:42:52] I'm trying to keep you happy. I'm doing this for you. This is all you want to talk to me about. So I do this for you, but I'm not happy. Right. Jump rope makes me happy. Right. I'm a joy jumper. He's a joy jumper at heart. Um, chilly stepper by name. Joy jumper at heart though. Later, Rodney shows up with a large group of other teenagers, I guess. And it's like, Hey, he can't turn me down if there's a group of us. So we have to rematch. We have to rematch. He finally agrees. But this time,

[00:43:19] instead of boxing him with his fist, he boxes with his flips. That's right. So the defense is strong. He keeps flipping out of the way. He gives this really great speech where he was like, you try to make me feel bad about this, but what is there to feel bad about it? Like, yeah, look what I can do. Yeah. He does do some impressive flips and it's like, and Rodney is like, I can do that too. And then proceeds to trip out. Well, well at one point, like Corbin leaves, like,

[00:43:49] this is not important to me. We've been mad at each other for a very long time for no reason. I'm done being mad. Like Rodney's not leaving. Like I have let this all go. I know what makes me happy. I'm out. So he leaves the ring and Rodney's like, no way walk away from me. Um, and then I think somebody like pulled his power cord or something. Cause he just collapses out of the ring. Is he okay? I would love to figure out like,

[00:44:18] was that like a mistake? Like, did he actually trip out of the ring? And they just kept that tape. It is, it's really weird. It's a really weird moment. But then everybody is like trying to get Izzy to like beat him up on the, while he's on the ground. Cause these kids are brutal. It's tough. And he's like, no, I'm not going to do that. I'm better than that. And he walks away and Rodney's like, huh? Wow. That's interesting. Yeah. Uh, Izzy, uh, shows up right before the finals and apologizes. And he's back on the team. Uh,

[00:44:48] Rodney, Rodney shows up to watch. Mary does this whole, like you think one apology is going to get you back on the team. Two apologies. Two apologies and you're back on the team. And you're back. And here's your uniform. Everybody's there. All the people that said he did, he couldn't believe they couldn't believe he was double dutching. Rodney wants to watch. His dad is dad is there. Yes. Everybody's there. So, uh, the red, hot chili stepper, sorry. The hot chili steppers, uh, take the stage. And, uh,

[00:45:16] Izzy is showing the skills that he learned. And, uh, after they finish his performance, what do you want me to do? How do you want me to handle this? You want me to power through? You do. Keep going. I'll power through. We're good. So, uh, the red, hot chili peppers take the stage. They sing their, they sing California cation. And then the hot chili steppers take the stage. And, uh, and Izzy begins to show off the skills he's learned.

[00:45:45] There's the whole performance. Um, hit Corbin blue song is playing at the time. Yeah. It's this great moment. We're like, you see every other team do the freestyle and it's about a minute long. So we get a really great minute and they all stop. They pose. They're like, great, great. Um, and then Corbin blue song comes on and then they start just like dancing, freestyle stepping. And then they go back into the routine and it's like, did the other teams know you could do that? Mary loves it. He loves it. The crowd loves it. Um, I loved it. Yeah, we love it. It's great.

[00:46:15] Uh, the whole reason you watch this movie is to watch, push it, push it to the limit limit because we're in it to win it. And it's a win it. Oh yeah. Yeah. So, uh, it's a really good song. It's a great song. Really pumps me up. I think the thing that bothers me about it is that I wish that he would have just been like, Hey, I also wrote a song and like he plays the, can we do this afterwards? Yeah. Uh, so anyway, that counts. The judges keep watching. Yes. They love it. It's a bit, they're big fans. And what do they do? Well, I feel like, well, hold on.

[00:46:45] Points keep accumulating as long as you don't leave the stage. That's right. So if we just stay here long enough, you're about this one now. You're about this one. It turns into a dance marathon. That's right. Less one to leave wins. So, uh, afterwards while they're waiting on the results, his dad comes up to him, tells him that he's proud of him. Sorry for pushing boxing. I don't know. He's, it doesn't seem like it's a, it's a, it's a half, half hearted, but he does. The weirdest part is like, that is Corbin's dad. Real dad in real life.

[00:47:15] And I just feel like he could have tapped into some emotion of being like proud of your son and really sold that scene. No. Either Corbin's dad is a great actor or he's actually really disappointed in his son. Yeah. The whole time, like we're watching that and we're like, he doesn't mean it. It's like that we'll watch homework movies and there'll be a real life couple and on screen, their chemistry is not any good. Yeah. And it, it did feel like that. Like he was holding back because he wanted to make sure he felt, I don't know. Yeah. It wasn't great.

[00:47:42] Uh, Rodney, you could have very easily. Those speeches always work for me. And I, even, I was like, yeah, no, um, Rodney also tells us trying, like I understand the dad is trying, but he's not quite fully believing what he's saying. In fact, the reason that Cadet Kelly kept moving up my list to where it is now, which is number two overall is the Gary Cole, Hillary Duff speech in that movie. There's no bigger Hillary Duff stand than my guy, Dan over there. It's unbelievable. He loves her.

[00:48:12] I mean, I don't think that's the case. And Hillary also like, I mean, Gary Cole sells those speeches. He's great. But then Hillary reacts with a lot. So perfect. Yeah. So much emotion as well. Yeah. Yeah. Should we rewatch Cadet Kelly? I'm going to rewatch. Let's wrap this one up. Sorry. I was just thinking about Cadet Kelly. Great movie. So he, uh, he come cannon. You, uh, was he, doesn't he ask her to Rodney? Rodney. They shake hands. We don't need to talk about that.

[00:48:41] They called, they called truce. Yes. Okay. So the right as the results are about to be announced, uh, it cuts, the screen freezes and it cuts to the narrator. And it is not a grown man at 50. It is Rodney. I would assume the next week talking to a bunch of children and a reminder. Rodney has been talking about himself by calling himself Rodney. And this is a week later and it is not a 50 plus year old grown man.

[00:49:09] It is Rodney talking about himself in the third person as a teenager. It makes absolutely zero sense. Uh, we find out that the chili suppers did win that competition. They went to state. They didn't win it until next year. Yeah. So that's fun. Um, and apparently Mary and Izzy are still together. Yep. There you have it. Kids love that. Two years later. So at least Rodney's telling the story a year and a half later. It's at least two years later. Yes.

[00:49:36] Um, and then, uh, the movie ends with, uh, his dad coming out and, uh, they teach him how to double dutch as the credits roll. And that was jump in. We're going to take a break. We're going to come back. We will share our thoughts on it, put our list and all that good stuff here on. Decom descendants. That wasn't bad. It was really good. So easy. According to his easy. Bop, bop, bop. Hi everybody. Welcome back.

[00:50:04] It's time to, uh, over time it. How'd this movie age over time? Share our thoughts on it. Of course, we're talking about jump in the Corbin boot classic. I've got some, uh, letterbox reviews. If you would like it. I love it. This is from gal pal Kirk. Uh, that says three stars. Uh, and this is my sister are all Disney champions. Channel movies about a person who has to choose between two activities because they take place during the same day. I was going to mention this in my, that's 100% true. Yeah.

[00:50:33] Uh, Chloe, uh, her review is the best. I mean, boxing didn't happen on the same day. He just chose not. That's true. That is true. Golden gloves. Cause I said that early on, we were watching it. I said, but he did have to choose between going to the boxing match with his dad or going to perform. He had to choose. Technically we don't know when the golden gloves are cause he doesn't do it. He, he, he backs out of boxing altogether. Uh, Chloe just puts the best quote from the movie as her review, which is shut. Doesn't go up. Prices do fantastic.

[00:51:02] Uh, that's a Izzy's sister, little sister, Karen. He tells her to shut up and she goes, go up prices. Do this economy. And then she goes, I know things. Uh, Katie, Katie says three and a half stars. She's the star of this movie. We didn't even talk about her like once. She's so good. She's so good. Uh, Katie says three and a half stars. This movie reinvented the it's not my dream dad. It's yours genre and defeated sexism all in 86 minutes. Like that's real cinema. Thomas. So Blalock says two and a half stars in this house.

[00:51:32] We respect the greatest jump rope movie ever made. And Morgan says three and a half. I don't know. It's gotta be three and a half stars. I'm not saying that this is better than Rocky, but I never saw Rocky and Adrian do flips together. Fair enough, Morgan. Fair enough. Uh, let's share our thoughts on the movie and how it aged over time. I'll start with you, Aaron. Aaron, I know you watched it, uh, growing up and I know you watched it yesterday. So what are your thoughts, uh, on the movie and how it aged?

[00:51:59] Um, you know, like we mentioned in, in the com chat there, there are a couple things that did not age well in this movie. Um, basically the bullying like that, but I guess bullying never ages. Well, um, but overall bullying never ages.

[00:52:19] Well, Aaron, it's like you just, you just realized it through an extensive age. Well, you know, come to think of it. That's true. Did you find another jump? I did not upon a cursory Google search that I did go through two pages. If they're not documentaries or secret boxing movies, there is no other jump rope movie that I could find. Got it. Greatest jump rope movie of all time. Greatest jump rope movie of all time.

[00:52:49] Um, anyway, so yeah, bullying, not aging well, but the rest of this movie I really liked. Should we make a jump rope? Sorry, go ahead. Yeah. The genre is wide open. I mean, we could make the worst jump rope movie and it would still be the second best jump rope movie of all time. Yeah. It can't be silver metal. Can't be this one. Golden Gloves. Unless we get, what if we get Corbin and Kiki? Oh, jumping to still jumping. They would now want a studio. Yeah. Um, anyway, that's another podcast. Their kids are going for the city.

[00:53:18] I just think I've lost the love of it, you know? Um, anyway, I think this movie still ages pretty well. Um, the, the jump rope scenes are impressive. Um, I think before this movie as a child, I didn't, I didn't understand that people jump rope to be on just a single rope at recess. Um, single Dutch. Yeah. Just a single or like occasionally at recess you'd see, you'd see double Dutch, but it was

[00:53:46] always just like, just straight jumping and to know that people could do tricks and flips and all the impressive things they do. I can't, I like, can't imagine watching somebody do a double Dutch competition and then making fun of them for being a sissy because like, it's so, it's so hard. It's so hard. Like we were joking at the beginning of the movie of like, should we try to learn to do this?

[00:54:13] And by the end of the movie, I was like, I can't even joke about learning these skills right now because I just can't do it. Like there's, I could, you could maybe teach me to just do like the recess double Dutch straight jumping, like the end. As soon as you try to incorporate any sort of trick, I'm out. I'm out. I can't. Like, I was like, I'm terrified to even when the ropes are going, I, my biggest hurdle would be jumping in there. Like that's for me, the scariest thing.

[00:54:42] And if I nailed that, I'd be like, great second best jumper in the world here. Like nailed it. Um, and then to find out like the main actors all did go to a pretty intensive, like jump rope training to be able to do at least the basic moves. Um, jump camp, but call it jam. Should we, I'm just throwing ideas. Should that be the name of our movie? Jam, jam, jam, jam, jam rock.

[00:55:10] I will say the last two movies that Corbin blue's done has taken place at camp. So do it that way. You will. Yeah. The summer, the summer one. And then there was another one that he did a couple of years ago. It was the Christmas in July. Oh yeah. So he only does camp movies now. He only does camp movies. So present day Corbin. I don't mean to throw the last two. What else would that mean? I was thinking like high school musical camp and I was like, I missed the last two. You were thinking the last two that we reviewed. I see. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:55:39] No, no, I don't see how you got there, but that's fair. But brands willing to throw you. Uh, he did a lifelong. That's why he did camp hideout in 2023. And then he did campfire Christmas in 2022. He loves camp movies. Camp movie Corbin. Camp. We'll give Corbin a call. I love it. We'll figure out when his, we'll figure out when his Broadway contract is up and we'll pitch jump rock to final, final jump. Um, final jam. Final jam. We can't do the final jam for the first one.

[00:56:08] You've seen camp rock. You know how it works. I'm, I'm already proposing a gypsy. Camp rock one and camp rock two, the final jam. Did we watch camp rock? No, we watched a dumb Christian camp movie together. One week away. One of the first of all, just rewatched it. It's like, it's terrible. There's some good covers in there. Yeah. There's something magical about when we haven't been recording for a while. It's like, we should just hang out more because there's just too many tangents in this episode. Making the bell, you know, just had to go off on vacation. That's right.

[00:56:38] And we couldn't record together. God only knows. What do we, it's a great, they did a great mash a week away, a week away. Okay. You got anything else, Aaron? Gosh, it's just you're rambling. It's a great movie. This movie slaps. I, uh, this movie pushes it to the limit and I'm in it to win it. Yeah. So yeah. A couple of things about this movie. One choreography is fantastic to the soundtrack slaps. Shout out once again to Drew Sealy, who sang a song and wrote another song.

[00:57:08] We still don't see him on screen. The song, the song starts singing and we're just like, is this Corbin? And I was like, what if it's Drew Sealy? And then it was Drew Sealy. Drew! Buddy, come on the podcast. We need to talk about how the early D-coms owe all of their success to Drew Sealy. Early. We're halfway done. You mean early. Drew Sealy. All of the D-coms owe their success to Drew Sealy. This is 67 here. Cute. They're still Drew Sealy-ing it up. Great. I'll see what works. A great, a great soundtrack.

[00:57:38] Um, some, some good performances. Great to see. We'll see you Friday. Kiki Palmer's fantastic. Um, I really like Corbin blue and the D-coms. I think like so much, so much of D-com acting is overacting and that's by design from the D-com universe. Yeah. And I think like there's something about it that just really works with, especially alongside Kiki. I thought that it was really great. And, uh, yeah. Would love to see them in another project together. Would love to see it.

[00:58:06] Kiki Palmer's is so far up the ladder. Jamp one and Jamp two. Yeah. And so I, I, uh, I like enjoyed it way more than I remembered enjoying it as a kid. I feel like this is one of those movies that got better with age. And so, uh, really, really enjoyed it. Yeah. I didn't watch it a lot as a kid, but I loved it. Yeah. I would definitely, I would, this, this will go on a list of like D-coms. I would, wouldn't mind watching it again. I, this movie is, would you show this to your kids? Uh, I mean, yeah, I, they would be, I don't know if they'd be interested or not.

[00:58:36] I think that the movie is either one of two ways. One, they hate it or latch on and just demand jump ropes. Which is fine. They would probably ask regardless for jump ropes. Um, this movie is okay. I think that it, it, the highs are very high and the lows are very low in this movie. The highs are one. It's the correct amount of time that we're spending watching this movie. The, the, the mood, the cheetah girl mistake is not made here for me. It's not an hour 40 with the stretched out longer than necessary montage or singing scenes.

[00:59:06] It is 86 minutes. It hits the plot. It goes, it moves. Kiki Palmer's great. Corbin blue is not a top 25 D-com star, but he is here. And the premise of the movie is based on a logical fallacy, which is if you jump rope, you have to be a girl. That wasn't true in 2007, even in 2007, Brooklyn high schools, it wasn't true, but that is the premise upon which the movie is built. And then the narrator thing is wild, terrible. And the dad never really comes around.

[00:59:35] I hated all of that, but the choreography is fun. It is an easy breezy 86 minutes. It is a movie that does not drag in the slightest. It moves very quickly and should be like, should be acknowledged that this movie doesn't feel very long. It feels like a fun time. So it does clear that bar of just being like, is jumping ships still on? You know what I mean? Like it, it isn't in that category. You know, there's actually still playing in the room.

[01:00:05] There's like actively watching. There's actively bad. And then there's this movie has some decent stuff in it, but how is it still going on right now? And then there's, then there's a category above that, which is this has some issues. It's not really my thing, but it is moving at a clip and it has some stuff that you can be like, that's really cool. That's where this movie lands for me. Not going to be anywhere near my top 10, not even my top 20, but is a, is a better, better than average decon. That's what I would say.

[01:00:34] It is time to make that list and share our thoughts on it. I had a hard time with this one. Me too. And I, I kind of put it somewhere and then I'm, I'm probably going to mess with it later. And just kind of sit with it a little bit. But to me, I'll let, can I just talk? Yeah, just go. Thanks. Um, for me, 12 to one are, is like sacred D com cannon movies. So I got like moms with a day of vampire moms.

[01:01:04] Moms with a day and a vampire. Somebody help mom. She's with a day and a vampire. The vampire is going to get them both this time. Recording is so easy. Mom's date with a vampire. Luck of the Irish phantom full court miracle, smart house, Eddie's million dollar cook off cadet. Kelly get a clue. High school musical motorcross. I think on me, brink. Those to me are like D com cannon. Can't be touched. Good luck breaking into that.

[01:01:30] And I think jump in is close, but no cigar for me. Wow. And so I've placed it at 13, but it will probably move down a smidge. My 13 to like 20 is kind of a mess out for me. I do you want me to really? I mean, I do you really want me to tell you as you were talking about your top 12 and I was like, mine's 10. I was wrong. I have seven that I think are cannon and then eight to 12, I think are all a step above. And a lot of these are the same movies you talked about.

[01:01:59] Like, you know, eight to 12 for me full court miracle scream team, Halloween town, high school musical brink. Like those eight to 12. I think there is a dividing line after you get past 12, my 13 to 20 miracle lane to quince smart house. T'was the night luck of the Irish other me pixel. Perfect. Windy woo like those movies. So I have like 13 to 20. I have jump jump in. Windy woo. Now you see it mainly because I think it's really funny.

[01:02:27] Even Steven's movie again, but that's partly because you're starting to defend yourself. That's that should tell us that we know that it's not in the top. And it's a mess. It's a mess. Pixel perfect is another one. It's so crazy. I mean, I'm there with you. I can't not think about it. And then I have two girls to put at 18 scream teams. They're double teamed for just like somebody like a lot of these movies are like ice. So clearly remember them as a kid and they're just really fun watches, but they're not good.

[01:02:55] And so that's kind of like the weird. I think all three of our lists get a clue. Eddie's million dollar cook off Phantom of the Megaplex Johnny tsunami mom's got a date Cadet Kelly and motocross would all be canon for all of us. Maybe you didn't have mom's got a date in there, but like those other six Eddie's phantom Johnny tsunami Cadet Kelly motocross. Mom's got a date is further down for me, but I for me that's mainly because I don't I didn't watch it as a kid. Yeah, so those five are all like in all of our top.

[01:03:25] Also childhood. We loved the nanny and for Max Sheffield to be. Yeah, go with your list now. I'm sorry. We just want a little tangent there. That's fine. Yeah, I got stuck on a tangent because I just saw that Tom Felton is going to be Draco on Broadway. So I just got that notification. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I know that I don't know who Tom Felton is. He's Draco in the movies. Oh, okay. He's gonna be Draco on the right. I just got excited for me. I'm a little old, but that's okay. Well, Cursed Child is when their kids are at Hogwarts.

[01:03:56] So he's actually playing like perfect. Yeah, good for him. Good for Tom. Yeah, boy Tommy know anything about Cursed Child. No, I know nothing about Cursed Child. Is it any good? This is the first I've heard. It's not good. You're just excited. Anyway, the play. I love the play. So wait, they're doing this is a movie. It's a Broadway play. It's a Broadway play. What do you mean the book plays bad and the good of the books bad? Isn't it the same? We don't have time for this. Okay, just take your list. But isn't there another show? Is there a show coming out? HBO Max is doing a book a year. Yeah.

[01:04:25] That is gonna be filming a TV show. That's a show? That's on TV. That's on TV. That's the movies we've already seen, but in show form. Yeah, Sorcerer's Stone one season. Yeah. Yeah. Tune in for... We don't have Harry Potter coming. No. Okay. Anyway. Anyway. I don't care nearly enough. No. Um, and there's, there's already plenty of... Making the sorting hat. We had one show with making and that became our entire personality. I said making the bell. That's how we got there. And then he said making the merge. And so then it became a thing.

[01:04:55] Now it's a thing. Yeah. Okay. Making the hallmark. When I... We just rebranded all of our podcasts. Making the gavel. Um, anyway, when I first put this movie on my list, I had it down at 33, just behind stuck in the suburbs and just ahead of... Gotta kick it up. Now we're talking. It may end up back there, but... Uh-oh. It's not there. I mean, what did you move it up? Five spaces? You move it up 10? Like you moved it up to 19. Holy f... What? Yeah.

[01:05:25] You're like, well, it was 33 and then I moved it 25% up the list. Okay. So I put it right next to gotta kick it up because I was thinking like... Excuse me, buddy. Yeah. I think gotta kick it up in this movie are... Should be very much talked about in the same sentence. Mm-hmm. So that's initially where I put it and then I looked at... The choreography is better in this movie than that. Yeah. I think this movie gets a bump over that one, but it's very close. So it gets... So I looked at it and I was like, well, I may move it down to like 22, like somewhere in the early 20s.

[01:05:53] Um, but right now it's just behind Quinn's, just ahead of Wendy Wu. And that's where I put it. Um, I don't love that, but I, I, I, it's a hard movie. Cause I'm like, I said this to you guys before recording where it's like, if you take out all the really impressive, like stunt work and choreography, what you're left with is not a great movie. It's not super. Um, yeah. And so, but I'm like, but the jump roping is really impressive. So then it got a bump for me, but I don't think it's going to stay there.

[01:06:23] But for right now it's at 19. My top 10 has not changed. We've got Halloween town at 10, get a clue. Eddie's million dollar cook off Phantom of the Megaplex smart house, Johnny tsunami, right on track Cadet Kelly high school musical and the best D com motocross. Uh, so I have jumped in at 31. It is a mess in there, uh, in between 20, you know, I think right on track is definitely

[01:06:50] better, but right on track is at 25 for me. And I think from 26 to, you know, basically 36 is kind of a mess, but I have it just ahead of ultimate Christmas present and just behind read it and weep. Um, and I've got to kick the jump ins at 31. I have got to kick it up at 33, 34. So I think both of those movies, I think culturally, I really liked what they did.

[01:07:19] We've got to kick it up with the, the choreography is not near what it is with jump in. Um, yeah, that's where it is. 33 or 34 would be the average D com based on 67 and I have it at 31. So just above average. Okay. Okay. Um, but yeah, I think once you get to write on track, which is 25 for me, the rest of those movies offer something that's consistent moviemaking at the very least. Uh, in my opinion, even if it's bonkers, like luck of the Irish. So yeah, 31 for me.

[01:07:49] We did everybody. Congratulations to us. Uh, next week is Johnny Kappa Hala. The sequel back on board to Johnny tsunami. Six years after seven years after a long time. It's something crazy. Yeah, it's a very long time between the movies. It doesn't make any sense. Anyway, come on Disney. Hi, you'll know why. Okay. Come on back next time for that. And apparently you can buy stock and explain it.

[01:08:18] Uh, until then keep coming all the time. That's not a new thing. Dang it.
