[00:00:06] Yeah, oh

[00:00:18] We're on everybody. Yes, sir who are you on it? I can uh I can feel a

[00:00:23] Miracle coming on guys. You think so you believe in miracles one one. Yes. I only believe in miracles and lean to yeah only lane two

[00:00:30] They do nice. You don't believe in miracles on ice

[00:00:34] Really? Wow, so you just hate America. Okay. Have I got a USA for you kiddo God

[00:00:40] Believe in nice that's unbelievable. That's a tough way to start the episode. Hey, who are you down there at the end?

[00:00:45] I'm brand and we're we I'm Erin and this is decom Dino

[00:00:49] Great, I thought you're gonna introduce us all like last week, Bram

[00:00:53] I was just trying to get some I like to just do things a little bit differently every time

[00:00:56] Yeah, that's right. The thing about podcast people is they don't want to hear any routine

[00:00:59] They want to hear it. I don't think that's the routine people care about really I think it's like the you know

[00:01:05] Continuing to put out episodes on a regular basis

[00:01:07] They do care about consistency. I don't think it's like hey, how do you?

[00:01:12] Introduce the show the guests Wow and by the guest. I mean the other co-hosts. That's right

[00:01:16] Hey, you know what's great about decompositions that we're just guests and we're just guests that were thriving

[00:01:22] Is that Aaron and I are recurring guests that have been on every episode somehow?

[00:01:26] I do think that's more fair than

[00:01:30] Then co-host yeah, I think that's fair Wow

[00:01:32] I do

[00:01:34] America you hate us

[00:01:39] Until someone trying to keep everybody together. It's just how I do things until someone else starts trying around here

[00:01:45] I think it's the only wow logical

[00:01:48] No, I

[00:01:50] Unbelievable I guess I'll try harder. I don't even know if I want it

[00:01:55] I will say this something's going right because the reviews are starting to pop off

[00:01:59] Yeah, brand the blitz work from last week. That's this coming

[00:02:04] Seen the blitz yeah, I know I know I know that but

[00:02:10] We don't know at the time of this recording what we do know is is we went in one week from 68 to 76 reviews

[00:02:17] I think the blitz worked you think the blitz work

[00:02:19] Well, pretty well thing is this is we're gonna need at least eight more reviews a week every week to get to 100 by

[00:02:25] 20 I think we're gonna be a little daunting number. Yeah, I think I think we're really gonna need your help

[00:02:30] This is the time to go find

[00:02:33] Relatives iPhone and just put a five star there by 20 or do like do we get 20 as well?

[00:02:38] And then we can see how he did on we you get through 20 so when we record episode 21

[00:02:44] I think is we will have to make the call at that point but technically where we get

[00:02:50] Not yes, but we use you said we got a lot new reviews. We got a lot new reviews

[00:02:55] Yes, we do you want to read one of them? I would love to Christina Dexter says another reason to enjoy Fridays

[00:03:01] I had no desire to watch DCOMS as a kid, but I certainly enjoyed this podcast

[00:03:05] I think it's a great format and it is interesting to hear the overtime opinions

[00:03:11] Alright, so we got one vote for overtime being the best

[00:03:14] Lisa I guess there's three a's at the end of that

[00:03:18] DCOM delight is what she says five stars no notes as I like this Orlando magic are down two games to one

[00:03:26] Double or nothing looking good for Dan

[00:03:30] That's fantastic Boston Direct TV channel 290

[00:03:35] Shout out. That's very nice. I bet this person who's really from Boston does believe in miracles on ice

[00:03:40] Which makes me think you're not even from the area

[00:03:44] Patriotic

[00:03:46] Okay, yeah, you've been regretted it since you said it

[00:03:48] It's a very moving speech at the end like how do you not like the Russians?

[00:03:52] Solves the Cold War

[00:03:54] We'll worry ice. We'll read some more of those reviews in the coming weeks, but keep them coming

[00:03:57] Yeah, I don't want to like hedge our bets, you know by reading all of them and then

[00:04:03] Yeah, I'll we'll heads it a little bit further because Bob Cobb one wrote the only one of these

[00:04:08] I've ever seen and we'll see is Johnny tsunami and yet this is a fun time every week

[00:04:13] I mean, I feel like the Bob Bob Bob Cobb is spoken

[00:04:22] Yeah, I live my life by the gospel of Bob Cobb gospel Bob Cobb

[00:04:27] Gospel him and Maynard Yoder or both at the top of my list. You know what else what other gospel I follow

[00:04:35] Is it the I'm lonely thing you're about to hit what is it? It's the gospel of delish the gospel of delish. Yes

[00:04:44] God is good all the time

[00:04:46] Aaron we got a movie about a soapbox derby. Yep. What could you possibly have brought for us today?

[00:04:57] I brought some mint soap just kidding

[00:05:05] So box derby yes just came out of derby season

[00:05:13] Okay, yeah or post what a what a race it was

[00:05:20] We all dressed up for right brain. Yes, we did and sucker you wore was unbelievable

[00:05:24] I put all my money on clanded bikes well and

[00:05:28] You know rags to riches took it away. You can believe it. Yep

[00:05:31] Yeah, so in in you know the spirit of the resurrection and the derby I made a minjula

[00:05:37] spirit of the resurrection for those out there really quickly that

[00:05:41] Don't listen to that the hallmark spirit of the resurrection is a deck the hallmark joke that we've now brought over

[00:05:46] What's the deck the home?

[00:05:49] We say in the spirit of the resurrection anytime. We're serious about something

[00:05:52] I just didn't want people to be concerned just as Jesus rose from the dead. I raised this mint jula

[00:05:58] That's right. That's right back to home art calm. Yeah, listen. All right, so it's a mint julep. What is that?

[00:06:05] It is bourbon some simple syrup which is basically just sugar and

[00:06:10] I'm good

[00:06:11] Brand gave a full. I'm not stupid look don't please don't woman's plain simple syrup

[00:06:17] He talked to you like you were a guest on the show not a house is what that

[00:06:21] Guest yes, there we are cheers everybody delish

[00:06:29] Yeah, it's yummy that's not bad at all

[00:06:33] As a person who doesn't like bourbon

[00:06:36] That is that's like dangerous good. Oh no in a plastic cup. It shouldn't taste this this should not taste

[00:06:43] Oh, no, so wait. What's the tie in again?

[00:06:47] Derby just jula talky derby at the Kentucky Derby they drink mint juice

[00:06:52] Sorry, I know that sorry. Sorry. No, I should have woman's plain that I don't know anything about

[00:06:57] I don't know anything about the

[00:06:59] Like you bet it all in clams ball

[00:07:00] The national drink of the Derby is mint julep. Are they this good? They're better than that

[00:07:06] I guarantee you but I don't know how cuz this is great

[00:07:10] I mean, but for something I whipped up from the wrong public's not bad all the all the

[00:07:16] All the racist Kentucky Derby founders drink their

[00:07:20] Mint juleps and have a good time washing people beat horses. It's awesome

[00:07:25] We love it. There was a lot there. There was so much am I not a fan of the Kentucky Derby who can say

[00:07:32] Let's take a quick break. We'll come back and we'll talk about miracle

[00:07:36] And we're gonna think about our lives. Yeah, they just think about it. Okay. Think about what you've done

[00:07:40] Think about the thing long and hard

[00:07:45] Yeah, all right

[00:07:51] Like horses

[00:07:54] You say horse

[00:08:07] So I've a miracle in lane to everybody miracle in lane to the May 13

[00:08:14] 2000 movie. Oh, we're right there right there. We're following it in suit really fall

[00:08:21] May 13th is my older brother's birthday

[00:08:24] Oh

[00:08:26] Thompson yeah, Jim he would have turned 19 May 13th 2000 today

[00:08:34] We kind like we kind of crush it's May 10th today. Yeah. Yeah, we're almost at the 24th anniversary

[00:08:41] We definitely premiered this podcast

[00:08:44] Calendar as calendar in our room and it is just takes up an entire wall

[00:08:49] Just how close can we possibly match it to the day?

[00:08:54] Yes, yeah, we did this because we're great guests. That's right. That's our awesome guests

[00:08:59] This is better than you found it. That's what listen. That's what guests are supposed to do

[00:09:02] And that's what we do this movie stars one Frankie Munez. Maybe you've heard of them

[00:09:07] Is directed by Greg Beeman the theme music composed by Phil Marshall

[00:09:15] What was the theme

[00:09:20] Miracle on lane to we meet the Yoder family. That's their last name the Yoders

[00:09:28] What yeah, the Yoder family is your standard family happy married couple. Yeah

[00:09:34] Happy there's so happy talk about

[00:09:37] So this married couple talks about having sex in some form or fashion and virtually

[00:09:44] First kiss does not belong in a D-com. Yeah, but then like there's set look almost every scene that they have just the two of them

[00:09:51] If there's a Bechdel test for just sex it would be this this movie

[00:09:56] It gets spicy. Yeah, yeah, I'm in the mood for strawberries. I had to leave the room

[00:10:03] Yeah, and you know those kids are old enough. We'll get there. We'll get there because they're throwing up

[00:10:07] So Frankie didn't understand Frankie did not understand

[00:10:10] Strawberry

[00:10:13] They have one son. We'll get there. We'll wait. We'll wait. We'll get there the older

[00:10:17] The older son Seth is good at you know, really everything everything including getting out of going to funerals

[00:10:25] He has trouble. He's not good at is getting his dad to show up for a game. That's right

[00:10:31] And then we meet Justin who is a kid who he was born with spina bifida and

[00:10:37] He

[00:10:40] He thinks that it happened because God made a mistake and we know that because

[00:10:45] Many many many many many many fantasy sequences

[00:10:49] In which Frankie Munez is face-to-face with God with

[00:10:53] nine total and

[00:10:56] Nine in an 84 minute movie. Yeah, I mean in the first 11 minutes. We were up to three, right? Yeah three or four

[00:11:04] It's a lot. It's crazy. It's a lot. It's a lot, but yeah, he has a lot of a lot of those and he

[00:11:13] At the funeral kind of talks about how he doesn't think anybody's gonna care, you know when he dies

[00:11:17] He's at the funeral for his great uncle by the name of

[00:11:22] Maynard Maynard yodur maynard maynard yodur and

[00:11:27] You know he everybody's talking and crying about how great Maynard was and he's like no one's gonna care

[00:11:33] The most important the priest is reading all the things Maynard has done in his life

[00:11:37] Things and but he also he imagines that the priest is doing a funeral on him and has nothing to say

[00:11:43] But so much to say about his wheelchair

[00:11:46] Yes, which is like an early moment in this movie where you think this movie could go one of two distinct ways

[00:11:54] But it's clear that he thinks that the only thing people remember or know about him is that he's in a wheelchair

[00:12:00] And all that he really wants more than anything in life is to be like his brother and finally win a trophy now

[00:12:07] His brother has boo-coos of trophies. Yeah, he has an entire wall bookshelf

[00:12:12] Which I personally would have used for books

[00:12:14] But he has them filled with trophies cool

[00:12:18] There was so much room for books and then he had it filled with sports trophies

[00:12:21] But he also does read and we do see that at some point

[00:12:24] He does he does own a couple of own a couple books

[00:12:26] Maybe not a full wall fall and that's fair

[00:12:29] So he's trying to figure out a way to finally get a trophy. He doesn't know what he could possibly do

[00:12:35] The first thing he tries is baseball. He gets

[00:12:39] baseball flyer falls into his face

[00:12:42] via newspaper and

[00:12:44] He decides that he wants to try baseball somehow this kid's never thought baseball

[00:12:49] In all of his years. I don't know if he's just like it

[00:12:54] Establish early on that if he has it he has a shunt and at the shunt malfunctions and he gets a headache

[00:12:59] He could die. Yes, and they have to go to the hospital like go bags the whole thing

[00:13:04] He has hydro

[00:13:06] Cephalus

[00:13:09] Yeah, I would maybe suggest that in the case of any

[00:13:13] slight head trauma potential baseballs, maybe not your sport

[00:13:17] I

[00:13:20] Just Aaron thinks not everyone should play baseball. That's what I heard

[00:13:25] America's past hates America that makes sense

[00:13:28] I'm more like America's nope time for Aaron. That's right. I would just be a

[00:13:34] Very nervous parent. Yeah, my child got a slight headache and could die any moment

[00:13:40] I would have a hard time putting him out in the path of running other players

[00:13:49] His mom is all for it. She's like yeah

[00:13:52] That's a little bit nervous but mom's like now we got this so mom

[00:13:55] Takes him to go and sign up for baseball. Obviously they stop for slurpees first. You have to

[00:14:02] What better way to get ready for baseball practice or try it's

[00:14:06] Giant blue

[00:14:09] The coach is like no this isn't happening like how would how would you run around the bases?

[00:14:15] How would it like we're not gonna do this whole thing?

[00:14:17] It's not fair to the kids that play blah blah blah all this stuff and so

[00:14:21] Justin ends up throwing the slurpee up all over him

[00:14:26] It's yeah, if it wasn't a no-go already. It is now officially a no-go

[00:14:30] Yeah, I do think the time to maybe have your

[00:14:35] Wheelchair bound sun play

[00:14:37] Baseball would maybe not be on sign-up day like maybe call the league and work out

[00:14:42] Yeah, and I look because it's hard to make accommodations day of that's true. That's true. It is

[00:14:49] You can make accommodations and you can even the playing field there, but I think

[00:14:54] On on the first day. It's a big ask big ask

[00:14:57] But of one middle-aged coach to make sure I do that

[00:15:01] I've seen day of account accommodations live really good show really good show for all people

[00:15:07] So after that he just really wants a trophy. So he decides

[00:15:13] Maybe I'll give chess a try does he really play chess? No

[00:15:16] He doesn't really play chess chess

[00:15:17] But who cares because he can show up and he can lie about his age

[00:15:23] She's like you're 10. He's like yes, and ish and bad news for him is this 10-year-old

[00:15:29] This 10-year-old schools him on the game of chess so no trophy there really

[00:15:34] But we're supposed to believe that he does yes, so on his way out of this chess competition

[00:15:40] Obviously the chess competition takes place right next door to the car show

[00:15:45] There's something that is nothing we can do a tale as old as time

[00:15:48] Yeah, how many times have you run into a car show and been like where's the chess?

[00:15:52] Was here and they're like no that's a gazebo next door. It's a both-hand

[00:15:56] Yeah, it's a both-hand situation. So he is looking and he sees outside of the chat

[00:16:02] I'm sorry outside of the car show is a giant trophy

[00:16:06] And so he's like this is my chance. I can get this right get this trophy which is

[00:16:11] Someone that doesn't own a car so he begins to question the guy very focused on owning a trophy

[00:16:18] Yes, he begins question the person who's running the competition. How does this work?

[00:16:22] How do you win and they say oh everyone knows this but it is best car wins by donation way that we find that out

[00:16:29] It's by donations people put dollars or mores in the box

[00:16:34] associated with the car in which day in that case it one person could come up and put

[00:16:39] $10,000 in a box and they would have just voted once yeah, but they would still win based upon those rules correct

[00:16:47] That's like literally stuffing the ballot box

[00:16:50] You are not voting with your dollar. It's just whoever is the richest

[00:16:54] Yeah, what if I have nine thousand people all believe in my car and give me one dollar bills

[00:16:59] That's right, but you have one person like $10,000. Yeah

[00:17:02] This doesn't make any sense bummer so real bad way to do a car competition

[00:17:06] It's all I'm saying he points at his scary neighbor who is in a part of this conversation old man Vick

[00:17:12] Oh, man Vick and they I hear that he chops up children in his shed. That's exactly right hangs them

[00:17:18] In the old shed there and so from like meat hooks from me

[00:17:24] You know he takes them from the fishing pole, so it doesn't need him anymore

[00:17:28] He doesn't even fish in just a hook. That's what we know

[00:17:30] So he points to him and he's like how about that guy right there?

[00:17:34] That guy's like well

[00:17:35] He's clearly got the best car, but he'll never win

[00:17:37] And then we see him verbally accosting people that want to look at his car

[00:17:41] Actually going out like I got another dollar why even show up for the competition if you're going to be mean

[00:17:49] Everyone that could vote for you. It doesn't make any sense

[00:17:54] Give me that all I mean

[00:17:58] I would love to read up on the real Justin your and see if this is like is this how he and Vic met

[00:18:03] Is there a real Vic?

[00:18:04] Because otherwise this is just a weird

[00:18:07] Way to meet I have one question for the real Justin Yoder just one

[00:18:12] Do you have an uncle named Maynard Yoder? That is my only question for Justin Yoder?

[00:18:16] I think the rest is pretty airtight, but I need to know if you had an uncle named Maynard Yoder because what a name what a name

[00:18:22] Yeah more than fair. Yeah, so Justin goes over. He's like what if what if wheelchair helped?

[00:18:26] Yes, basically what he does and he says hey

[00:18:28] Here's the thing if I help you win you got to give me the trophy and he's like no

[00:18:32] We're not gonna do that, but then he's say you know he decides alright

[00:18:36] Let's try it so he gives the kid the box and everybody immediately starts giving the kid in the wheelchair money

[00:18:43] Because you know one they see him and they're like oh that's cute and then two he's not yelling at them

[00:18:48] He's not verbal crossing them. It's a win-win. It's a win-win

[00:18:51] There's a sympathy vote and there's a just be nice to people vote

[00:18:55] So they do win but old man Vic does not immediately give him the trophy

[00:19:02] For reasons I don't really know but maybe he didn't take the trophy home

[00:19:07] Maybe got mailed it. I don't know but either way he keeps looking out the window. He's not ready yet

[00:19:12] They have to engrave it. Oh, okay, that's why he stops by the house later

[00:19:15] Yeah, so he's waiting and he's waiting and he's waiting no trophy

[00:19:18] One day he arrives home and his brother is like yeah someone came it was old man Vic blah blah

[00:19:24] And he's like did you have a box with him and he's like

[00:19:27] So he goes over across the street and

[00:19:33] Oh man Vic's not there

[00:19:34] But he goes around the back and he sees in the garage

[00:19:37] He looks up and he sees a box and what else could be in box but trophy it has to be trope

[00:19:46] He works on a car back there there's tools it has to be trope

[00:19:49] It has to be trophy outside of that shed is a trash can filled with perfectly good

[00:19:54] Fishing equipment

[00:19:58] Because he's in when he knocks it over later

[00:20:00] He looks at me goes take all that to the road with the rest of the trash

[00:20:04] He has thrown away all of his fishing equipment. We need to know that right now

[00:20:08] recently

[00:20:10] thrown away so

[00:20:12] He sees the box he decides I'm gonna try to get it

[00:20:15] So he gets a pole or rake or something. I don't know and he's trying to get it off because it's very tall

[00:20:19] It's very high. Yeah, and in the process. It's on top of the shelf the entire shelf falls down on top

[00:20:26] On top I saw it comment and I hated it his beautiful car though. I'm now thinking

[00:20:32] Vic like

[00:20:34] Justin and as long get back from grocery shopping they see Vic pull away

[00:20:38] Justin goes straight to Vic's house Vic is not there. His truck is not in the driveway. He is not there

[00:20:44] How could that be the trophy that was in his car is also breaking an inner like it's full-on trespassing

[00:20:49] It's everything. I know that he's only 12

[00:20:53] this is not he's lived a sheltered life, but

[00:20:57] There are so many things wrong with my just think it through just think it through

[00:21:00] Yeah, just take five seconds. What are the odds that in the time in which I saw Vic drive off? I

[00:21:08] You know he pulled into his car through the box up on the top of the tree left real fast

[00:21:14] Hanging on there the odds are good

[00:21:16] I'm gonna try to get that box my kid lives to like getting stuff

[00:21:19] He's not supposed to get into and I think there would even be enough barriers for he would be like maybe maybe I shouldn't do

[00:21:26] He doesn't the shelf that the box is on falls in all the stuff falls on top of his beautiful

[00:21:34] model car

[00:21:36] And then the then the car begins to roll down

[00:21:39] He hits the lever on the trailer which causes it to roll backwards injury into trash cans filled with fishing poles

[00:21:46] And who knows I hated it and it was an avoidable mess

[00:21:51] And I hated it. It's at this point if you want to see me have a panic attack take the tape

[00:21:58] You can watch me watch this movie have a big day

[00:22:00] That's right

[00:22:01] If you want commentary tracks to all the movies that we were reviewing take the tape dot com or just sign up at

[00:22:06] The brain which I plus I'll come with the all-accessed here. You'll get all of those included from now until forever eternity

[00:22:14] So Vic shows up obviously very mad and he's like you got to do a bunch of chores

[00:22:19] You got to do this you got to fix that you got it, you know

[00:22:23] All sorts of stuff that this kid's gonna have to do

[00:22:28] He tells him the most important thing though is that you do not go in that shit

[00:22:34] That's right. It's because he's got bodies

[00:22:38] We have a stand alone garage and then behind another

[00:22:43] Uncle with two separate standalone garage sheds. It's just a big yard. It is it's a lot

[00:22:49] But yes, and also as this is going on we start to see the older kid unravel right like he is slowly yeah, he's

[00:22:58] He's going to appointments. We don't know where they are

[00:23:00] Yeah, Justin begins to realize that he's going to this doctor

[00:23:04] He finds out you know from his doctor that he's going to a doctor. He's like no not that doctor

[00:23:08] So he's trying to figure out

[00:23:09] You know what's going on with my brother and he thinks that he's got it figured out because he snoops around

[00:23:13] Snoops mom's room mom and dad's room and he finds among other things looking for mom's like date book

[00:23:21] He finds strawberry massage oil and this 12 year old 12 year old boy

[00:23:27] Doesn't put any pieces together

[00:23:30] Yeah, I think he just that's the only thing I can figure is that there's just pure denial on his part

[00:23:35] He refuses to acknowledge you have to yeah

[00:23:40] I would be in pure denial

[00:23:44] Like Frankie Munis tries to look like he's six like oh, what would this be for man?

[00:23:48] And he puts it back in the drawer and you think all right. Well, that's a weird thing for a D come to have

[00:23:54] in its in its movie is this weird nod to this

[00:23:59] married couple that's had chemistry all movie long and you're like I

[00:24:03] What what are we watching and then you think that's gonna be the end of it just

[00:24:08] The end of it. It's not it's almost like they wouldn't they wouldn't bring the

[00:24:13] There's no way they would smoothies

[00:24:16] Book with a doctor appointment for Seth he calls the doctor and finds out what's going on. That's right more on that later

[00:24:23] We don't yet, but no so after days and days of

[00:24:27] Working at Vic's place Vic is like can I trust you? I gotta go do some errands

[00:24:32] Just stay here and you know stay out of trouble

[00:24:35] He does not he does not stay out of trouble. He goes into you think he could have learned his lesson the first time

[00:24:40] No, no

[00:24:42] He looks in and he sees a bunch of trophies obviously in the windows

[00:24:46] So now he's like I gotta gotta get in there. I love trophies

[00:24:49] And this is when this is when he discovers

[00:24:53] The soapbox not the soapbox you get on to share your thoughts on something

[00:24:59] soapbox for Derby

[00:25:02] So box

[00:25:05] Yes for Derby

[00:25:09] He clicks play on this old reel that begins to project on this

[00:25:13] You know old

[00:25:15] There happens to be a screen

[00:25:18] Perfect for projector real film. Yes, and he sees Vic is there and

[00:25:24] There's soapbox Derby

[00:25:26] Races going on and you see him Vic is happy. He's with woman

[00:25:32] He's like with he's there's no he's with woman

[00:25:34] Yeah, he's with a woman has a little girl also that is in the races and as at this point Vic walks in

[00:25:41] And he is peeved and he's basically never come

[00:25:44] Never come around ever again

[00:25:47] Yeah, and that doesn't last all that long

[00:25:50] Because it's at this point that he decides I want to soapbox. I would like to Derby myself

[00:25:58] This could be my thing and the parents are both like, okay. All right

[00:26:02] This is the thing that dad does dad doesn't know anything about

[00:26:06] He's gonna give the old college

[00:26:08] The first dad does not agree to try at first the parents like yeah sounds great

[00:26:13] You said Vic knew about it great. He can show you the ropes because we're busy

[00:26:17] Yeah, and they do ask Vic and Vic is like no, I'm not gonna help you

[00:26:20] That's my default response right brand when your kids want absolutely something for us like first of all no

[00:26:27] Yeah, I mean every time I ask for your help or something. It's yeah, yeah busy. Yeah

[00:26:32] I don't have time for you ask old man. Yes old man Vic. What's he up to but?

[00:26:37] Obviously eventually his dad gives in they begin to build

[00:26:41] a soapbox and

[00:26:43] He gets his mom makes chocolate chip cookies and he brings them to Vic and obviously you bring someone cookies

[00:26:49] No, and he's got to bring that ten back when he's done and when he brings the ten back

[00:26:54] he can see that they are working on soapbox and

[00:26:58] He's like what are you doing?

[00:27:02] Helping you I'm just bringing this tin back. I showed you what a soapbox looks like I showed you a race

[00:27:07] You got to see it. I'm out that's right

[00:27:10] But then you are doing help but tinker and you know that Vic is in at that point

[00:27:15] You know he's in that's right

[00:27:16] That's right

[00:27:17] And so he begins to build it together

[00:27:19] But the whole thing that dad can't get over is how is my son gonna stop?

[00:27:25] Soapbox yeah at the end of the derby, you know you go down this big hill and steer but

[00:27:32] Yeah, and

[00:27:34] You know because breaks typically use feet older brothers got a baseball

[00:27:39] game so

[00:27:41] Not made it to a single game because he works two jobs

[00:27:45] He's been doing double duty trying to pay for some medical bills and he says

[00:27:50] Dad are you definitely coming in my game tonight because you definitely don't have work and he says you bet you bet

[00:27:56] I promise I'll be there

[00:27:58] And it's at this point in time. He's he says go go ahead

[00:28:01] I'll catch up with you which I do have questions about yeah

[00:28:04] He goes you take the boys. I'll come later in the van

[00:28:07] All right, the van is the head the handicap accessible van that fits Justin's wheelchair

[00:28:12] It's the only way Justin can travel so I do wonder how mom got both boys and gear to game

[00:28:18] Yeah, the other the other automobile is in the shop

[00:28:22] Literally there is not another automobile

[00:28:25] The truck it's it wouldn't it's like

[00:28:28] Not be able to ride in there. Yeah

[00:28:30] I mean if it and if so if it's close enough to walk to why does he get in the car anyway anyway so many questions

[00:28:36] Eventually dad is like oh, I gotta I gotta get going so he gets into the van and he luckily for him

[00:28:42] This is one of those vans with a center console handbrake. Yes. It's a hand emergency brake. Yeah

[00:28:48] Which he pushes down and then he realizes

[00:28:51] There it is this could be it and so does he fit on that idea go to the game

[00:28:57] Think about it gets out of the van he calls old man Vic and they they

[00:29:01] Bring up a prototype together immediately

[00:29:04] Get it and he is pumped about that when everybody comes home

[00:29:09] He you know he tries to make it to the game. He does try to make it. He gets the break to work

[00:29:14] Awesome hops back in the van

[00:29:16] Get to the by what I can only imagine is ours

[00:29:20] But

[00:29:23] Yeah, they all went to celebrate afterwards and then as they're going home

[00:29:27] He's like maybe they'll still at the ballpark for a five-hour

[00:29:30] AL East clash

[00:29:33] I mean they were doing the most for dad like the game started it look I can only imagine is not

[00:29:38] Right. Yeah, and he by the time he got the lights were off off. It was after midnight

[00:29:42] It was after midnight when he shows up

[00:29:45] Home yeah extra is the timing on that scene is

[00:29:49] Suspects a lot there that doesn't make sense

[00:29:51] So he comes back home, you know his wife lets him know that he done goofed

[00:29:57] And so he goes and obviously apologizes to his son. No, he does not apologize to the narrator

[00:30:04] He didn't yeah, he goes out to the garage and like us

[00:30:07] We've been conditioned based on the one disinchannel movie with a father and son heart to heart

[00:30:12] That when your son is in the garage and you go out there

[00:30:15] We're gonna get a heart to heart her other father son heart to hearts in this D. Coms in the garage in the garage

[00:30:21] I don't know about it in the garage. I was in the garage brink obviously

[00:30:27] I was just thinking he's going oh his son's upset in the garage. He's going out to the garage

[00:30:31] This guy the formula of D comes is we're gonna have a heart to heart

[00:30:34] Yeah, and he does have a heart to heart and it is completely one-sided what this heart to heart looks like is this son

[00:30:39] I know I said I'd be there and I wasn't you know why I'm not it's because I can't cheer for you

[00:30:46] Because I can't cheer for my younger boy and because I can't cheer for him

[00:30:50] It means it's not fair for me to cheer you on and be present for you as a father. That is his big apology

[00:30:58] It's terrible and Seth does not accept it

[00:31:03] That's been a real SOB this movie, but that is

[00:31:07] Absolutely uncultured. I mean to an extent Seth deserves to be a little bit of an SOB like he goes above and beyond his SOB quota in my opinion

[00:31:15] Well, yeah, I mean he there is a

[00:31:18] Percentage of SOB that he is allowed to be correct in this position where he is doing everything right excelling

[00:31:23] You get a quota for sure nobody care

[00:31:26] Yeah, I don't see you know his dad doesn't notice him because this is everyone's just so concerned about Justin

[00:31:31] Yeah, this is most every older child with without the wrinkle of there being a disability like this is just older kids in general

[00:31:40] Yeah, yeah, so

[00:31:43] They finally have built the car and they go to give it a little test spin

[00:31:47] And it's clear that there's something going like steering's not right the steering's not right and

[00:31:53] It they after the he goes gets down there

[00:31:57] They look and is hey a vix like hey you got the wires crossed left to the right. That's why it's steering

[00:32:02] Yes cars going right and so

[00:32:05] Justin naturally says I know who did this it definitely wasn't my dad or Vic made a mistake

[00:32:10] Who knows a lot about?

[00:32:11] So box mechanics yes because it was enough to mess it up my older brother

[00:32:16] There was already a bit of tension between Seth and Justin

[00:32:20] About the so bucks derby and so he goes and he yells at his brother and he's like you did this

[00:32:25] I don't care about your dumb soap box. So this point that Justin says well

[00:32:30] I know you're going to therapy and you're he says it way worse. Yeah, what I'm trying to be gonna shrink crazy

[00:32:39] He says I might be crippled but at least I'm not crazy

[00:32:46] Yeah, it's crazy. I'm just a little unwell. I don't like either of those terms

[00:32:52] And it's at this point that

[00:32:57] Justin and says I wish I could punch you I wish I could punch you and I hope that you die

[00:33:01] I hate you. I hope that you die. I hope you die

[00:33:05] Cut to the next scene where Justin almost died

[00:33:08] Yes

[00:33:11] Yeah, hold my beer it is time for

[00:33:15] Real derby real derby time and like you know Seth is reluctantly

[00:33:20] you know coming along for the ride there and

[00:33:24] He go Justin does his for you know, he's doing well. He's doing okay. Well, he's not

[00:33:30] Winning but he's getting there

[00:33:35] Tournament so you have to win a bunch his first match heat trial race

[00:33:40] Anyone of those terms will get to the trial race practice in a second

[00:33:43] But in these it's not like you it's a one-and-done if you win you move on

[00:33:47] So like he's winning somebody's not winning a trophy basically, right?

[00:33:51] He's like winning enough to stay in last match

[00:33:54] She has a chance in the finals to win an actual trophy. That's right. We're doing it. Here we go

[00:34:03] Lots of pressure here and that and he begins to

[00:34:07] Feel some pain in his head

[00:34:10] Which we know means you know you should go get that you should go get that checked out

[00:34:16] Unless it's just a thinking too hard

[00:34:18] And we know the difference this is not and he's trying to power through

[00:34:23] Yeah, he decided to sign himself. No heading

[00:34:25] He does he does not tell just get through this race and then yeah deal with it

[00:34:30] So on the way down I saw you and he

[00:34:34] You know loses consciousness and goes flying in through yes

[00:34:39] And I think hits a tree and he's clearly like he's just you know having a tough time

[00:34:45] He's unconscious. Yeah, and so they bring him to the hospital and ultimately he is okay. He sees God in the hospital

[00:34:51] Turns out it's not a dream. Yes. It's actually the re so whenever he envisions God

[00:34:58] In these fantasy sequences is it is his favorite race car driver and apparently Vic actually knows the guy

[00:35:05] And had him come and talk to him, but nobody believes them no one believes the kid do they do they let him race again?

[00:35:11] Yes, but they don't believe him when he says that somebody came and talked to him and the doctor does say like his

[00:35:20] What's in it? What's the piece in his head?

[00:35:22] Shunt the shunt has been malfunctioning for a while

[00:35:25] And she's like it's a he knows what this feels like like why wouldn't he say something and the parents like we need

[00:35:29] To set some ground rules like yes, we're gonna let you race again, but you need to be honest

[00:35:33] I'm just now thinking of the fact that this kid has like

[00:35:36] car racing posters all over his room and he never once thought of

[00:35:41] This as his sport right?

[00:35:43] Well, I mean, I think he understood he can't race a car

[00:35:46] I don't think he knew about soapbox know about the until he discovered also fun fact the race car driver

[00:35:53] That plays God in IMDB at least on my quick glance. He's credited not as the race

[00:35:59] Right, right, so my he's both both Wow just sit with that though

[00:36:06] Bobby play Bobby play well, I mean of course

[00:36:09] so

[00:36:10] He finally

[00:36:13] He finally see a shot of a million trying to beat Bobby play you're trying to beat God is what you're saying

[00:36:19] No, man. I mean

[00:36:21] Sacrilegious here. I am out

[00:36:24] See on mine. It just says tuck Watkins God

[00:36:29] It's two credits different

[00:36:32] So it's not slash no, it's not

[00:36:43] So he finally comes home from the hospital and

[00:36:47] While they were gone they got a call that somebody had dropped out and so they're inviting

[00:36:54] In line would be would be him for the big the big nationals in a cron

[00:37:00] We're going to nationals

[00:37:02] Crinn now that's not what they say Seth takes his phone call and he wants to keep it to himself

[00:37:08] Yes, and so when they say did we get any messages? He says no

[00:37:11] But then there's a little bit of a flashing on the old

[00:37:15] What is it?

[00:37:18] Started to leave a message walked in and picked it up

[00:37:22] Like after the age of 10 brain yeah, okay. No my parents had a home phone for a very long time

[00:37:27] I think until they moved up here. Oh, wow. Yeah, they loved the home phone

[00:37:32] so

[00:37:33] He's like no no messages, but that's he starts to play it here's that it's from the soapbox derby people

[00:37:39] He tries to stop it and then he's finally like alright

[00:37:42] Here's the thing he did this thing and he gets to compete against a compete again

[00:37:47] And he's expecting everyone to be like oh we can't do that. Yeah, but they're all like yeah

[00:37:52] Literally Justin and parents have just walked in right on the hospital. Yes from the hospital

[00:37:59] That's right

[00:38:10] Like maybe a happy medium I think is there somewhere in there go to nationals this yeah

[00:38:16] We'll join next season. Yeah, but anyway, they're pumped and Seth is like I don't get what's going on here

[00:38:22] This is crazy

[00:38:24] But they all it is time to head to

[00:38:27] Now can we debrief the other example of bad parenting from dad sure

[00:38:33] Seth runs off after he's like I can't believe after everything we just went through we're gonna do this

[00:38:37] we're gonna let him keep competing and

[00:38:39] he runs off and

[00:38:42] dad

[00:38:43] Storms after him burst into the room slams the door starts yelling it

[00:38:49] Yeah, and set this on his bed

[00:38:53] Trying to cry

[00:38:56] But he is upset. He's like we

[00:38:59] Almost lost him and you guys just turn around we're just gonna do this again

[00:39:04] And dad still has no sympathy for Seth. He can't say sorry

[00:39:10] He can't like he can't sympathize with his son being like I know it's scary like nothing

[00:39:15] It is still somehow Seth is the bad guy here. Yeah, it was pretty brutal

[00:39:19] So in miracle lane to the sequel when Seth is a villain. I get it. Yeah when Seth goes full dark

[00:39:25] I will understand that I don't agree, but I get it. Yeah. Yeah

[00:39:31] Support a father yet

[00:39:34] Vic

[00:39:35] Well, we have the weird thing where the mom then makes another reference to

[00:39:40] You know this massage

[00:39:44] Dinner Seth is gonna go wash dishes and she looks at the house when she goes I'm in the mood for strawberries

[00:39:50] Couldn't have been more like what what what?

[00:39:54] But when they're ready to leave for nationals Vic shows up. We're like is Vic coming

[00:39:58] We don't know if he's coming. Yeah, Vicks one and leave and this is maybe the scene of the movie

[00:40:01] Maybe you disagree Vic shows up in his 54

[00:40:06] Corvette or whatever it is and he never drives

[00:40:09] No, but it's just for show and he's driving it and it's just the best

[00:40:14] It's for him and Frankie. I mean yeah

[00:40:17] They let Justin ride in the car to a crown

[00:40:21] Yes, right this is when he opens up about the loss of his daughter and the loss of his wife

[00:40:27] And they have a sweet sweet moment together and they show up finally at a cron and

[00:40:32] They're seeing all the different

[00:40:35] competitors and all that good stuff and

[00:40:39] We find out that there are there's a dad who is very intense very intense about he has spent

[00:40:47] $20,000 on his daughters soapbox queer and he

[00:40:52] Sees on the wind the wind thing not the whole career just wins

[00:40:57] He watches more than 20,000 way more he watches Justin do his test trial run

[00:41:04] Heat yeah, and a trial heat practice run after they leave

[00:41:09] He does the one thing that we all know you're not supposed to do and he checks out another racer's

[00:41:14] Don't look in someone else's car. Oh, you don't do it. How dare you business

[00:41:17] So that's exactly what they do in their car is up to them unless I don't even see derby cars unless it breaks the rules

[00:41:26] Yeah

[00:41:28] And all derby cars matter and all all matter and all he says when he looks inside is

[00:41:34] interesting

[00:41:35] Yeah, I did think I

[00:41:38] Thought he was gonna take sabotage. I thought he's gonna tinker but he doesn't tinker. Oh, no

[00:41:42] He just looks it was interesting. Well, he might have tinkered, but he saw something in there

[00:41:46] That was interesting. That's right didn't interesting so they're in their

[00:41:50] You know motel room and they get a knock at the door

[00:41:52] And it is the the guy who's running the competition

[00:41:55] He says it's been brought to our attention that you are using a handbrake the rules clearly state

[00:42:02] Feet breaks feet breaks only yeah, and mom's like well

[00:42:05] He's only he's paralyzed from the waist down. He can't yeah use a foot break and he's like I understand but rules are rules

[00:42:12] I kind of thought the parents were just gonna be like that's fine. He'll just stop with

[00:42:17] Whatever hits him after the finish line

[00:42:20] He'll beat you anyway

[00:42:22] Then we'll put up a screen down there or so like I thought that's what they're gonna do

[00:42:26] Yeah, I got like but they don't they let up the he lets them know the rules committee is gonna meet

[00:42:30] I just feel like in other and again. I don't know anything about racing sports. I don't watch them

[00:42:36] I don't participate in them other sports games

[00:42:37] But I feel nice then it's an absolute like your car gets checked out to make sure there's nothing

[00:42:43] It's so boxed her me though. I don't I mean, I don't know how serious if it was NASCAR

[00:42:48] I think yes, but I just feel like he's been competing all season and not one

[00:42:52] Did a single we're saying this out loud?

[00:42:54] It is very weird that the rule is no one can look inside your car. Yeah, you would think that they would have some

[00:43:01] Regulations can right about

[00:43:04] Other competitors don't look because it's an honor system

[00:43:06] But if somebody else did look in his car, they would know that there was a handbrake there, right?

[00:43:11] So I just think it's weird that he's competed multiple times and nobody said a single official has not looked until this point

[00:43:16] The rules committee is gonna meet I would be curious

[00:43:18] I almost wonder if in real life it didn't happen that way, but it happens in D-Com

[00:43:23] I guess they would probably have to have some creative license. Yeah, whatever

[00:43:28] Regardless they show up to the rules compete. We're gonna have a hearing

[00:43:32] But yes rules committee is gonna meet and they hear your argument. You hate kids in wheelchairs

[00:43:36] So that is the consensus the creative license was Seth in real life

[00:43:40] Was actually just super supportive and nice and he had to watch this movie

[00:43:44] What what what did I do? I just said I do wrong wanted him dead. I would never

[00:43:53] It is at this point that Seth comes in and save the day because they're getting ready to rule and say that he can't race

[00:43:59] And Seth comes in and his brother have still not quite made up from their big fight, but Seth has

[00:44:06] Been supportive coming along. He's wearing the the Justin time t-shirt

[00:44:11] But when Justin thinks that he's getting disqualified

[00:44:15] He looks at Seth and he's like, are you happy now?

[00:44:18] Yeah, I don't get to compete. Yeah, so your number one again

[00:44:21] All I wanted was to feel one time what it was like to be you

[00:44:26] Yeah, and Seth's like oh, I done messed up. That's like I got it. I'm gonna call the media

[00:44:32] The media I'm gonna fix this for my little brother

[00:44:35] That's right, and he does just that then he calls the media

[00:44:38] He has the media show up and he says if you want to say hearing they are about to lose

[00:44:42] Yes, they are about to lose they are gonna

[00:44:45] Rule against the child

[00:44:48] competing in the soapbox

[00:44:51] The rule is like you don't use the break going down the break is only after the finish line

[00:44:57] Why does it matter? So you why it's just a safety rules we can't

[00:45:03] Like dims the brakes literally

[00:45:06] And so Seth comes in he makes his statement

[00:45:10] He brings the media and it's like you can make your you know hearing

[00:45:13] I read your hammock front to cover and you're about education

[00:45:18] I learned in school

[00:45:24] Misses now there'd be like media with dissenting opinions on it like Newsmax would be like he doesn't even have spina bifida

[00:45:33] Yeah, but this is

[00:45:37] Just in time more like Justin line

[00:45:39] Standing up waiting in line somewhere for cheese

[00:45:44] So what the pressure of the media they rule in favor of Justin

[00:45:52] Yeah, and so it's time for the big race and

[00:45:56] Well first they go out and they do the thing where they try to see which lane is better

[00:46:01] So they drop all the golf ball one of the most pointless scenes in the history of

[00:46:06] Celluloid like of the scenes we've put on film and put on someone's screen

[00:46:11] They dump two buckets of golf balls

[00:46:17] The way they do it is is one person has each bucket and they just fling them so there's no there's no regulation of

[00:46:24] They if they just rolled them all down

[00:46:27] And made it to where they were uniform

[00:46:30] Okay, Justin and his dad Myron are just watching down there like they're reading the 18th green

[00:46:37] Do you see the way that kind of tilts to the left? But oh not in lane two lane to

[00:46:42] Bouncing hard golf balls that are just pelting them in the face

[00:46:47] The point is too late that they just released

[00:46:51] Could have done anything any other ball. Yeah the point here is for them to come to the realization that lane two is the best

[00:46:59] Hence the mirror

[00:47:04] You would agree regardless of how it's awful. It's the it's not the worst scene in this movie

[00:47:09] That's the last scene but the scene. Oh, I forgot is the most

[00:47:14] Scene in the movie dump maybe any movie that we've seen dump scene

[00:47:19] It is time for Derby and he Derby's real good

[00:47:24] He makes it to the finals against the daughter of the guy who?

[00:47:29] Spent all the money. Yes, but all the money and also called him out for using handbrake and

[00:47:35] He wins he wins close race, but he wins well right before his race

[00:47:41] He has a heart to heart with his brother. Oh, that's right

[00:47:45] I'm sorry

[00:47:47] His brother is just like you're my hero

[00:47:49] You know you've been through so much and you've never complained about the pain or any of this and like you are my hero

[00:47:56] And they kind of touch heads you want to be like me, but I want to be like you

[00:48:01] So Franky Franky

[00:48:04] Justin driving down there is he's got his monologue going again

[00:48:07] And he's like you know what like I've done really well, but my brother's words meant so much to me

[00:48:13] And I think that I've already won which you have yeah, that was great

[00:48:17] But then he goes you know what?

[00:48:19] I

[00:48:21] Love that. It was great like great you realize you don't need it

[00:48:26] But like we're already here. I'm gonna win. I'm just gonna do it

[00:48:30] And he does when he does win he does get his truck and they could have and they kind of framed it there wrapped it

[00:48:35] And would have just sit in a great movie

[00:48:39] Didn't do that well then we get a scene with dad and Seth playing basketball

[00:48:44] Whatever the apology, but I'm gonna hope that they had some sort of conversation

[00:48:51] And then that would have been a great ending Franky Muniz is watching him from the window smiling another great

[00:48:56] He wheels past all his brothers trophies and then you look over on this shelf on his side of the room

[00:49:01] And he finally his trophy. Yes, and that's when they roll credit perfect

[00:49:05] But instead we get another fantasy scene and it's God

[00:49:08] Yes, hey God and God looks and he goes thanks

[00:49:13] Like like Franky's like I realized this was a mistake. Thank you great. Yes, we had three great roll credits

[00:49:22] opportunities maybe four

[00:49:24] But any of them god I have one question just one yeah

[00:49:30] Do people have wheelchairs in heaven? Yeah, that's right. Am I gonna be like this in heaven or are you?

[00:49:34] I want you to describe what happens next

[00:49:39] Sideburns God takes him over to a god I did see live to a big door now

[00:49:44] There's nothing on either side you could probably walk around the door

[00:49:46] But the the lock is taller than right so he has that key on one of those strings

[00:49:52] That connect to your belt loop there, which is awesome

[00:49:56] unlocks it opens up the doors and floating around in

[00:50:01] heaven are

[00:50:04] angels angels

[00:50:07] In in wheelchairs only in wheel everyone is in a wheelchair and they're in rows and they're floating around

[00:50:13] And and Frankie looks at that and says perfect. Hell yeah

[00:50:20] Perfect, and then we

[00:50:22] And then we unfortunately roll credits roll credits. Yes. I'll say a quick break. We'll come back

[00:50:27] We'll get to our overtime. We'll make our lists. We'll talk a little bit more about Miracle lane two here on

[00:50:45] Come back everybody

[00:50:47] We're talking about Miracle in lane two

[00:50:52] Miracle in lane to Frankie munez

[00:50:56] Soapbox Derby something that Dan obviously knew about all big soapbox derby guy over here huge

[00:51:04] Yes, you need to compete. Yes

[00:51:07] Very different than boxcar Derby. That's right

[00:51:09] Let's

[00:51:13] Let's talk about this movie. Let's do some overtime. I've got some

[00:51:17] Letterbox for you like starting to break down over there. He was really long ball

[00:51:22] I thought you were so we need to call somebody Mario says three and a half stars

[00:51:26] Wow, I was searching Disney plus letterbox and IMDb for the first part of this movie for about 20 minutes until I realized

[00:51:32] It's called Miracle in lane two and not Miracle in lane part two not my brightest moment

[00:51:38] Bride film says we're where is Miracle in lane one?

[00:51:41] I looked everywhere before I watched this and I thought it maybe was a lost film

[00:51:45] I was confused the whole time. I had no idea what was going on

[00:51:48] Maybe I could find Miracle in lane one. We'd be getting somewhere, but no Wow

[00:51:53] Frankie munez burned every copy of Miracle in lane one

[00:51:59] Matt says two stars. Okay, but why the parents strawberry lube have to be a part of this movie

[00:52:05] Just fantastic

[00:52:10] It is why as puzzling as the last frame of this movie is the inclusion of the strawberry

[00:52:18] I think the last frame of the movie makes more sense than having two mentions of strawberry loop

[00:52:25] Well makes more sense from a standpoint of the theme of the movie. Yes, because the theme of the movie is

[00:52:30] It's a children's movie. It's a children's movie

[00:52:32] But still the writers room on that last scene right if we open doors and everybody

[00:52:38] Dad stay with me. Everybody is in a wheelchair

[00:52:44] I get the beginning Frankie thinks that him being a wheelchair is a mistake and he just wants to be perfect

[00:52:49] Oh, I know what they're trying to say

[00:52:52] There had to have been a better way not following what happened at the end of that movie was atrocious

[00:52:58] But yeah to two strawberry Lou mentions probably too many

[00:53:02] It's crazy. It's crazy

[00:53:04] It's crazy if it happened in a Hallmark. Yeah, yeah

[00:53:08] 2024 we still be shot in a Disney Channel original movie in the year 2000

[00:53:16] Ed vark says one and a half stars I'd be pissed if someone made a movie about me and made me look like a selfish S head

[00:53:23] That's great. Adrian says absolutely love that God is wearing a mechanics uniform with the word God on the back of it

[00:53:31] RF says three stars. I hope that depiction of heaven is real

[00:53:41] It's funny let's get our thoughts on this movie I

[00:53:46] Had seen this move before Aaron you had not seen this move before um

[00:53:50] In watching it, I do think I've seen bits and pieces but have definitely not seen the whole thing

[00:53:57] Well now that you have now that I have what are your thoughts on a miracle in lane two?

[00:54:03] While starting off. I think we'd made it 11 minutes into the movie

[00:54:07] Had three fantasy sequences

[00:54:12] And I looked at Dan and said I stand by my decision to never have watched this movie fully

[00:54:18] Very confident very confident. Yeah, the the opening of this movie is rough

[00:54:24] There is more hijinks than I think it earns at that point in the movie

[00:54:30] But the rest of the movie really worked for me I

[00:54:36] liked the attitude of his parents where

[00:54:40] Kind of no matter what Frankie said he wanted to try the family was like alright

[00:54:43] We're gonna find a way to do this you want to play baseball?

[00:54:46] Like no questions asked we're gonna go we're gonna sign you up right now

[00:54:50] You want to do soapbox derby? We're gonna learn how to make a car

[00:54:54] So I really liked that attitude of it

[00:54:57] I'm very close with my brother, so I did like seeing you know him and his brother at the end there where they were supporting each other

[00:55:04] I do wish that we had cast an actual actor with spina bifida and not taken a

[00:55:12] Fully abled actor and put him in a wheelchair

[00:55:18] If we were going to remake this movie in 2024

[00:55:21] Please find someone who actually has spina bifida

[00:55:25] They're out there looking for their shot and they're maybe talented more than what we saw

[00:55:37] I just would have liked to see in somebody get a shot

[00:55:41] I also would have loved the dad to have been portrayed a little differently

[00:55:46] He was very supportive and loving and understanding to one son and one son only and I get that

[00:55:54] One son is kind of demanding more attention and care

[00:55:59] But you can't forget your other son too

[00:56:01] He's maybe not outwardly asking for love and care

[00:56:04] But he needs it too and if you could just show up to one baseball game show up man

[00:56:08] Or if you can't maybe have one conversation where you say sorry

[00:56:12] Yeah, I think all of this is is is made a lot better if he just says sorry

[00:56:19] Cuz like you know the scenes with dad and Seth were hard to watch so difficult to watch

[00:56:24] Like I understood like even what dad said like I understand what he is saying. Yeah

[00:56:30] And if it and if it is followed with I'm sorry. I done good

[00:56:35] I realized like this something that I've realized

[00:56:38] I know Dan

[00:56:39] brought it up where there was like

[00:56:41] His whole reasoning for not make you're not being able to go to the games is like if I can't cheer for both my sons

[00:56:46] I don't know how to cheer for just one right, but now you're cheering for one of them

[00:56:50] If you follow that up with I'm sorry and I need to learn to do better

[00:56:55] Fine be honest about why you had some shortcomings and then apologize and promise to do better

[00:57:00] But to tell your son I couldn't cheer for Justin

[00:57:03] So I don't know how to cheer for you and then the next day cheer for Justin at a sub box derby

[00:57:09] Listen, I have one

[00:57:11] You have a favorite. I have one son that needs more attention than the other son like I have that

[00:57:18] Yeah, it's Brandon. He needs I said Graham. No Graham your Graham works, too

[00:57:23] I

[00:57:24] Have one son that needs more attention the other it is incumbent upon me as a father

[00:57:29] To find

[00:57:31] Individualized ways to show that my other son that I love him

[00:57:34] It and the fact that this guy doesn't realize it and his oldest son is 15 years old

[00:57:39] Yeah, what if that's your whole that's it you have three more years and he's gone

[00:57:43] And there's a doing bro and set is like using his words. Yes and being like

[00:57:50] Yeah, yeah, like oh you don't have to work today great

[00:57:53] I have a championship game brutal meet a lot to me if you were there brutal

[00:57:57] So that's I so a lot of this movie worked for me

[00:58:03] If it were to come on if I was ever just sitting at home watching the channel and this movie came on

[00:58:07] I would watch it again

[00:58:09] But I would have liked to see I mean Frankie did great. I didn't mean to disparage Frankie

[00:58:14] He did a phenomenal everything you said was accurate

[00:58:17] But I would have liked to see an actual actor with spend a bit of

[00:58:21] And I would have liked a little bit more from the dead

[00:58:24] Mmm everything that you said is more than fair and I think that's be

[00:58:30] Liking this movie as much as I like a spoiler. I love this movie and I cried during this movie

[00:58:37] Like I've had it's been a busy week for my tears

[00:58:43] The fact that I liked it as much as I did

[00:58:46] Proves one how good the performances are like I thought

[00:58:51] The two brothers I thought both of them did a great job

[00:58:54] Vic is an amazing character. It's just like so good

[00:58:58] Vic starts to come around

[00:59:00] Dad's the least likable character of all time and I don't know if that's what he was going for but great

[00:59:05] So even with all the hurdles that we've talked about liking this movie as much as I did

[00:59:10] Is impressive and so yes, there's some problematic stuff

[00:59:14] Wish that strawberry Lou wasn't in this movie wish that it didn't end the way that it did

[00:59:18] And like there's things that they could like even like the messaging at the end there where he's just like hey like

[00:59:26] Like the way that he's talking they got in the message in which they're trying to get across there is like

[00:59:31] I don't hate what you're trying to do here

[00:59:34] I hate and with the way in which you did it and so there's some like, you know stuff like that where it's not

[00:59:40] perfectly executed but

[00:59:42] This movie crushes this movie slaps

[00:59:45] Disney is

[00:59:47] remaking under wraps over and over again

[00:59:51] Maybe stop doing that and use real mummies like use real

[00:59:58] I mean, I would like to see an updated version of this. There's a few things to fix

[01:00:03] And it would just be like knock it out of the park

[01:00:05] I'm surprised. We don't have any like kid young kids sports movies anymore. I'm surprised. I'm all the time. They're all gone

[01:00:12] 93

[01:00:15] So Disney get back into the kids sports game and

[01:00:18] Just remake this movie. I'm surprised. They're not doing that more remaking these D comes like these classic

[01:00:23] I know they did under wraps, but like that's not a classic D come like it was like why was that the one and are you

[01:00:29] Are you judging?

[01:00:31] Whether or not you do more of these based off of how under wraps did because like if you remake break

[01:00:35] We're all coming in coming to the yard if you make Johnny tsunami

[01:00:39] Remakes smart house

[01:00:46] Reduce smart house and make it into like what do we think a smart house could be now that we're in

[01:00:54] Smart house would be the bet because you could make it you could lean into the horror

[01:00:57] Yes, there's so much that you can do with these movies now and I'd look like

[01:01:01] We're we're so busy making remakes of movies that no one's asking for so might as well do it with these D comes

[01:01:08] And I think we're calling too would be a smash hit as well

[01:01:12] Frankie as the dad

[01:01:14] But like if you could just a little bit more for sure

[01:01:18] But I remember I remembered really liking this movie and then the movie started. I was like, oh, I'm not so sure

[01:01:23] But then it came back real of course corrected

[01:01:29] Too many fantasy sequences to start off just if we're saying that if brand and me are saying that then there are too

[01:01:35] Many of those sequences in the movie

[01:01:38] Swear on you pretty quickly, but I just

[01:01:41] Like the fantasy sequence. I don't mind

[01:01:43] But it's when you hit three or four in less than 15 minutes fairly certain

[01:01:47] They go to their first one a minute and 30 seconds into this one 12th. It was like four and 12. It's crazy

[01:01:52] I just feel like we could have moved the plot a little further along like faster

[01:01:58] Yeah, and spread those fantasies out because there is a chunk of the movie where we don't have any

[01:02:02] Once he begins to interact with Vic that you begin. Okay, it's it's fine. It gets sweet spot here

[01:02:08] So I mean I was like oh this is gonna be a rough movie

[01:02:11] Because in the first 15 if the whole movie was like the first 15 minutes

[01:02:14] I would not have enjoyed it but we did kind of so overall like yeah

[01:02:18] It has a little bit of hijinks and fantasy, but then it also has a touching story underneath it. So

[01:02:23] Dan yeah, yeah

[01:02:24] I think the best thing I can say about this movie is is if we're judging these on which movie feels the fastest and

[01:02:33] Seems as though you could pick up at any time like if it was on TV and you would just watch it and enjoy it

[01:02:38] This is probably number one by that measurement if it this movie

[01:02:44] Even early on when there's four fantasy sequences and it's doing everything wrong when it comes to the disabled community

[01:02:50] It still is fast-paced and entertaining like it still has this thing where you're like this is moving

[01:02:56] it's going somewhere and

[01:02:58] That's amazing. It also has the worst ending of any of these movies even worse than imaginary friend kissing

[01:03:05] The person they were the imaginary friend of this ending is worse than that

[01:03:09] Has a terrible golf ball scene that I will be laughing about for weeks to come and

[01:03:15] Has some the dad stuff is very very weird

[01:03:18] But at its best

[01:03:19] This was super duper entertaining and a lot to really like here a plot that is

[01:03:25] Based on a true story but is a plot that people use a lot in movies over and over again

[01:03:29] And there's a reason it's because it works

[01:03:31] Super problematic stuff and weird stuff

[01:03:33] Especially with the ending the strawberry lube and the golf ball scene those scenes are weird weird weird

[01:03:39] But very entertaining too so we end up in a tough spot to rank which brings us to making the list

[01:03:44] It does bring us to me you felt like this movie was moved faster than Johnny's tsunami. I did okay

[01:03:49] I did

[01:03:50] Let's see where it lands for all of us

[01:03:52] I imagine we're all going to at least it's gonna break our top 10 this yeah, which is not that what happened last week

[01:03:59] So it's good to be back on the right side of history

[01:04:02] Let's make our list Aaron will start with you. Give us that top 10

[01:04:06] Need more time. Yeah, I mean this is gonna change by next week. Okay. Here we go. Miracle in Tuesday being high

[01:04:12] And it doesn't need to be but

[01:04:15] Just a weird way

[01:04:17] Well cuz right, you know, we just watched

[01:04:20] Yeah, I'm like I just watched it. It was really great

[01:04:22] I need to think and pray and go to my war room for a little bit. But didn't have time

[01:04:27] So right now number 10 alley cat strike nine rip girls

[01:04:33] Seven

[01:04:35] Yeah, eight brink seven up up and away six Xenon

[01:04:38] Five Halloween town four smart house three color friendship two miracle lane two

[01:04:44] Wow one Johnny tsunami

[01:04:47] Three what did you what did you say was three again color?

[01:04:50] Oh my god, it's been number one book the last three weeks. It's on its way down. So wait. What's your number one Johnny?

[01:04:56] Sonomi's back up there

[01:04:58] so it's I mean I think that

[01:05:01] With the two corrections that I would like to see in miracle lane two it probably would have been number one

[01:05:05] But so wait a smart house miracle and then and then no mirror color friendship. Yes

[01:05:12] And then Johnny. Yes

[01:05:15] Ten color friendship

[01:05:17] Probably still too high nine

[01:05:19] Xenon eight genius seven alley cat strike six don't look under the bed

[01:05:26] Five Halloween town holding strong in the top five still

[01:05:31] But has been knocked down a little bit by number four miracle lane to number three smart house number two Johnny

[01:05:37] through Nami and number one

[01:05:40] Brink you know it's wild is is that first of all that's ridiculous, but second of all

[01:05:45] Miracle in lane two is gonna be the lowest on your list brand

[01:05:48] Yeah, the person that probably loved this movie the most I love all the movies

[01:05:52] Which is very weird. I have a

[01:05:55] I thought this was gonna be either one or two behind brink

[01:05:59] That's where I thought it was a bit of a history with loving movies too much

[01:06:02] I don't know what where can they find out? I don't time number ten

[01:06:06] Also color of friendship also think probably should be probably a little too high

[01:06:10] Alley cat strike and sweet Lou looking better and better

[01:06:13] We can only hope that it moves down next week nine up up in a way

[01:06:17] Eight genius has moved down a little on my list starting to be a little bit more

[01:06:22] Realistic there seven smart house

[01:06:24] six don't look under the bed five Xenon four
