[00:00:04] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.

[00:00:46] We're talking about right on track, everybody.

[00:00:49] No new reviews, Bramble Jam.

[00:00:51] It's unbelievable.

[00:00:56] I just had to let out a naughty word there.

[00:01:00] Gosh darn it to heck.

[00:01:01] Gosh darn it to heck indeed, Dana.

[00:01:03] I feel that in every five rounds.

[00:01:05] We're still right on track?

[00:01:06] We're right on track to get to 300 by the end of this thing so we can continue it.

[00:01:11] You know what else we're right on track for?

[00:01:12] What's that?

[00:01:13] Delish?

[00:01:14] Delish?

[00:01:16] We're getting right to it today.

[00:01:17] We're just having fun with right on track segues.

[00:01:19] No, I liked it.

[00:01:20] I was going to look at Spotify real quick and see if we got any new comments.

[00:01:23] We are right on track to check Spotify.

[00:01:26] We are.

[00:01:27] We are.

[00:01:28] Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.

[00:01:29] Oh, I'm logged into the wrong account.

[00:01:30] It's not going to happen today.

[00:01:32] It's not happening today.

[00:01:33] We're right on track to check Spotify next week.

[00:01:36] Tune in tomorrow.

[00:01:36] To see, but not today.

[00:01:38] Hey, it is Delish.

[00:01:40] We're talking about the...

[00:01:41] I've been sitting there a while.

[00:01:42] I was wondering if it was going to be wrong.

[00:01:43] It's bothering me.

[00:01:44] We're talking about the DCOM Right on Track Race Car Drag Racing.

[00:01:50] Beverly Mitchell.

[00:01:51] Brie Larson.

[00:01:52] Brie Larson.

[00:01:53] Erin, what did you bring us today to Delish?

[00:01:58] Oh, I like that.

[00:01:58] Something that we can eat and or drink that is in some way related to the movie.

[00:02:03] Yeah.

[00:02:03] For the people at home, what do we got?

[00:02:05] Well, this movie gave us a lot of Delish opportunities.

[00:02:11] Yeah.

[00:02:11] So many.

[00:02:11] They're eating burgers.

[00:02:12] They're eating ice cream.

[00:02:13] They're eating good in the neighborhood.

[00:02:14] They're eating fries.

[00:02:15] There is a lot of food options.

[00:02:17] If you listen to the Take It to the Tape episode where we're watching the movie, we spitballed

[00:02:23] several more options.

[00:02:24] We talked about ordering pizza for half of that Take It to the Tape.

[00:02:27] Yeah.

[00:02:27] We were hungry.

[00:02:28] Pizza.

[00:02:28] We were hungry.

[00:02:29] It looks like a wheel of a race car.

[00:02:32] Oreos, pizza, all kinds of things.

[00:02:33] But I went with an ice cream sundae, which looks small because we're on camera.

[00:02:41] But there is a scene where Erica is convincing her parents that she really wants to race.

[00:02:46] She's really passionate about this.

[00:02:48] And she and her sister are there eating ice cream sundaes.

[00:02:50] And I thought, this is a great family moment where we're eating ice cream.

[00:02:53] We're together.

[00:02:54] We're discovering our passions.

[00:02:56] And so we can all choose our own levels of whipped cream.

[00:02:59] Okay.

[00:03:00] I didn't want to choose that for you.

[00:03:01] None.

[00:03:02] Okay.

[00:03:02] None of the cream.

[00:03:03] I'm going to hold my cream, everybody.

[00:03:05] Well, we hate Brandon.

[00:03:06] And then we have some gold sprinkles to put on top because Erica is a winner.

[00:03:10] She's the most winningest woman in motorsports.

[00:03:12] How about that?

[00:03:14] So, yeah.

[00:03:15] Yes.

[00:03:15] I love it.

[00:03:16] I'll take some sprinkles, too.

[00:03:18] Go ahead, Brandon.

[00:03:20] No, whatever you leave in regards to the sprinkles, I'll take.

[00:03:26] There's no thing where you just can sprinkle.

[00:03:28] Oh, they finally figured out that no one needs that.

[00:03:32] There it is.

[00:03:33] Ha, ha.

[00:03:34] Let's go, sprinkles.

[00:03:37] Boom.

[00:03:38] You know, I'll just say this, everybody that's listening along at home.

[00:03:41] Yeah.

[00:03:42] The delish music is better than it has any right to be.

[00:03:46] I don't believe you.

[00:03:47] It's a great song.

[00:03:48] Dan and I agree.

[00:03:49] We listen every week.

[00:03:51] Yeah.

[00:03:52] Boom.

[00:03:53] Why do they call it an ice cream sundae?

[00:03:57] Because it was invented by Daryl Sunday.

[00:04:02] Mm-hmm.

[00:04:04] That's ice cream with sprinkles.

[00:04:06] I know the flavor.

[00:04:08] I know it well.

[00:04:08] It's a winning combination.

[00:04:09] It is a winning combination.

[00:04:10] Just like Courtney and Erica Enders.

[00:04:12] That's why I don't track.

[00:04:14] Maybe it's called a sundae because it's a religious experience.

[00:04:18] I don't even know if that.

[00:04:20] Well, it's spelled differently, I tell you.

[00:04:21] Yeah.

[00:04:22] That's your first clue.

[00:04:24] So all people do here, they get ice cream.

[00:04:28] Your favorite flavor.

[00:04:29] Whipped cream, sprinkles.

[00:04:31] It's a winning combination.

[00:04:32] Man.

[00:04:33] You'll put that on the socials, the recipe, right?

[00:04:35] Remember?

[00:04:35] How to ice cream sundae with Aaron.

[00:04:39] You should do a video.

[00:04:40] Hi.

[00:04:41] Hi.

[00:04:41] I'm Aaron.

[00:04:42] From Decom Descendants.

[00:04:43] Today.

[00:04:43] You may know me from Decom Descendants.

[00:04:45] And other things.

[00:04:46] Today, we're making ice cream sundae.

[00:04:49] That's right.

[00:04:49] All right.

[00:04:50] Let's take a break.

[00:04:50] We're going to talk about a movie.

[00:04:51] We've got a lot to get to today.

[00:04:53] This is a movie where it's honestly not that long to talk about.

[00:04:56] No.

[00:04:56] So much is just racing.

[00:04:57] It is a lot of racing.

[00:04:58] But we're going to race our way back and talk about this movie here on Decom Descendants.

[00:05:07] Whenever you're ready, Aaron.

[00:05:09] I'm never ready.

[00:05:10] It's all you on the way back in, okay?

[00:05:24] Decom Descendants.

[00:05:25] Wow.

[00:05:26] Oh, man.

[00:05:27] Hosted by Aaron Shea.

[00:05:28] How about that?

[00:05:28] And Aaron Shea only.

[00:05:29] That's right.

[00:05:30] Sorry.

[00:05:30] Welcome.

[00:05:30] I started looking up why is a sundae called a sundae.

[00:05:33] What did you find out?

[00:05:34] I'm still looking.

[00:05:35] Oh, okay.

[00:05:36] Okay.

[00:05:36] Well, I'm going to add some more sprinkles.

[00:05:38] I don't know what I'm going to get.

[00:05:39] I don't know.

[00:05:39] You have a problem.

[00:05:40] I freaking love.

[00:05:42] I love it.

[00:05:42] We're going to take these away from you.

[00:05:44] Sheesh.

[00:05:47] I'm sorry for those of you who are listening.

[00:05:49] Good God.

[00:05:49] I already got a whole bottle right now.

[00:05:53] Straight up.

[00:05:54] I don't want you to.

[00:05:55] I straight up would.

[00:05:56] Please don't.

[00:05:57] I straight up would.

[00:05:59] Hey, let's talk about Right on Track.

[00:06:07] Can we do it now?

[00:06:08] Sure.

[00:06:09] Sure.

[00:06:09] Right on Track is the 2003 joint.

[00:06:13] March 21st, 2003.

[00:06:16] Well, a lot of people maybe were watching March Madness kick off.

[00:06:20] You could have been watching Right on Track over on the Disney channel.

[00:06:27] So, it is starring Beverly Mitchell of Seventh Heaven fame and Brie Larson.

[00:06:33] You're running for your life.

[00:06:35] Captain Marvel.

[00:06:36] You're a shooting star.

[00:06:37] Other stuff.

[00:06:39] Phil Marshall wrote the theme music for this.

[00:06:42] And I believe he's written the theme music for every DCOM.

[00:06:45] So, shout out to Phil Marshall.

[00:06:47] What about the director?

[00:06:49] Knock, knock.

[00:06:50] Who's there?

[00:06:51] Dwayne.

[00:06:51] Dwayne who?

[00:06:52] Dwayne the bathtub.

[00:06:53] I'm drowning.

[00:06:54] Dwayne Dunham is back for more.

[00:06:57] Another movie directed by Dwayne Dunham, who is a staple at this point.

[00:07:01] Many movies he's directed.

[00:07:02] Many movies he will.

[00:07:04] And apparently, you found out that he edited which one?

[00:07:06] Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back.

[00:07:09] Yeah.

[00:07:09] He's like a big, big time man.

[00:07:10] How about that?

[00:07:11] Yeah.

[00:07:11] He did a Halloween Town.

[00:07:12] He directed the first Halloween Town.

[00:07:13] These are just passion projects.

[00:07:15] Yeah.

[00:07:15] I think this might be his last.

[00:07:16] I don't think he does any more after this.

[00:07:18] Oh, man.

[00:07:18] But I could be wrong.

[00:07:18] I'm sorry.

[00:07:19] I said something wrong.

[00:07:21] You said something wrong.

[00:07:22] I hate that.

[00:07:24] First time.

[00:07:24] First time for everything.

[00:07:25] Give me the cinematographer, Dan.

[00:07:28] I know you've been keeping track of them all.

[00:07:29] Kenny Albert.

[00:07:30] Oh, close.

[00:07:31] It's Bob Seaman.

[00:07:33] Bob Seaman?

[00:07:34] Bob Seaman.

[00:07:36] It's not Bob Seaman.

[00:07:37] It is.

[00:07:38] It's Bob Seaman.

[00:07:39] What is it, Aaron?

[00:07:40] That's Seaman.

[00:07:41] Right there.

[00:07:42] S-E-A-M-A-N.

[00:07:43] Bob Seaman.

[00:07:44] He's a Seaman.

[00:07:48] Dwayne Dunham could have edited his own movie.

[00:07:50] He didn't.

[00:07:50] He gave that over to old Jim Oliver.

[00:07:52] Seaman.

[00:07:52] Jim Oliver.

[00:07:53] Oh, my bad.

[00:07:55] Seaman's the cinematographer on this one.

[00:07:57] Old Dunham has not directed anything since 2011.

[00:08:00] Wow.

[00:08:01] And this is his last deco.

[00:08:02] Is that what you're saying?

[00:08:04] Tiger Cruise?

[00:08:05] Oh, it's coming up.

[00:08:06] Tiger Cruise.

[00:08:07] He did one more after this one.

[00:08:08] It's called Tiger Cruise.

[00:08:09] Sam.

[00:08:09] The, uh...

[00:08:10] Yep.

[00:08:11] That's all we need to know about that one.

[00:08:12] Hayden Panettiere.

[00:08:13] Classic.

[00:08:14] And I'm not going to tell you anything else about it.

[00:08:16] Save the...

[00:08:17] Bill Pullman?

[00:08:18] Oh, my God.

[00:08:20] Number one.

[00:08:21] Number one on the making the list.

[00:08:23] Tiger Cruise.

[00:08:26] All right.

[00:08:27] Oh, my gosh.

[00:08:28] I can't wait.

[00:08:28] Guys, you heard it here first.

[00:08:30] Bill Pullman?

[00:08:31] Can we watch...

[00:08:32] Can we pull an audible and watch that one next week before he gets...

[00:08:35] Can you stop looking at it?

[00:08:36] Because I really do not watch...

[00:08:38] I don't want you to know anything about the movie.

[00:08:38] Barbara Niven?

[00:08:40] What I'm going to do is I'm going to pull that clip.

[00:08:43] And I'm just going to use it all the time, especially afterwards.

[00:08:47] After we watch the movie, I'm going to just cue that up.

[00:08:50] Please don't look at this.

[00:08:51] Tiger Cruise, number one movie.

[00:08:52] Please don't look at the synopsis.

[00:08:53] Why not?

[00:08:54] Are you serious?

[00:08:55] Yeah.

[00:08:55] Don't do it.

[00:08:55] Okay.

[00:08:56] All right.

[00:08:56] Okay.

[00:08:56] Okay.

[00:08:57] I'll tell you this.

[00:08:57] It's gone.

[00:08:59] Um...

[00:08:59] Because there's a fun twist, and I want you to be...

[00:09:02] It's got Bill Pullman in it, guys.

[00:09:04] How bad could it be?

[00:09:05] I don't have to say it's bad.

[00:09:06] I'm not saying it's bad.

[00:09:07] It's got Hannah Pantier and Bill Pullman.

[00:09:09] You're both saying it's bad.

[00:09:10] I'm not saying it's bad.

[00:09:10] I'm saying there's a fun twist.

[00:09:13] No, I'm not saying it's bad.

[00:09:13] I'm saying there's a fun twist that you're going to love.

[00:09:15] This is going to pay off so hard in like a year.

[00:09:18] No, it's not a year away.

[00:09:20] It's a year away on the calendar.

[00:09:22] Yeah.

[00:09:22] So, you know, a few.

[00:09:24] A few.

[00:09:24] A few.

[00:09:24] It is...

[00:09:25] There's only like four DCOMs in the year of 03, so...

[00:09:28] Really?

[00:09:29] Yeah.

[00:09:29] Oh, okay.

[00:09:30] Then we're getting into it.

[00:09:30] What happened in 03?

[00:09:32] You'd hate to see that.

[00:09:33] Should we call up...

[00:09:36] He didn't get enough sprinkles.

[00:09:38] ...to 90-year-old Bran on his front porch.

[00:09:39] He gave a Bran out of sprinkles.

[00:09:41] You know how it used to be.

[00:09:44] You'd hate to see him only making four DCOMs a year.

[00:09:48] You do hate to see it.

[00:09:49] Okay, let's talk about this one.

[00:09:50] This is the real life story of Courtney and Erica Enders.

[00:09:56] That's right.

[00:09:57] Enders games.

[00:09:58] Let's say it's the Enders games.

[00:09:59] That's right.

[00:09:59] That's exactly right.

[00:10:01] Oh, man.

[00:10:02] You remember that movie when Harrison Ford's in it with...

[00:10:05] What's his name?

[00:10:07] Who plays Ollie in sex education?

[00:10:09] What's his name?

[00:10:09] Why can't I think of his name?

[00:10:10] Anyway, did you see Enders game?

[00:10:13] Yeah, I did.

[00:10:14] And the whole time he's killing people?

[00:10:15] I don't remember it, but I remember seeing it.

[00:10:17] They think...

[00:10:18] He thinks he's playing a game.

[00:10:20] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:10:21] And then it turns out he's killed like a whole race of aliens or something at the end.

[00:10:25] Yeah.

[00:10:25] It's like, isn't that cool?

[00:10:27] Yeah.

[00:10:27] Roll credits.

[00:10:29] We will get to the Tiger Cruise in January.

[00:10:33] Like the second of January.

[00:10:34] Oh, that's not bad.

[00:10:34] When he first said it, I was like, this is forever.

[00:10:36] No, it's right around the corner.

[00:10:38] I mean, that's if we do one every week in between.

[00:10:40] Which we will.

[00:10:41] Do you think we're going to do a DCOM for the...

[00:10:44] I don't know.

[00:10:45] I can already tell you the answer is no.

[00:10:47] But I don't...

[00:10:48] I mean, I don't think we're going to release a DCOM on the 27th of December.

[00:10:53] Who can say?

[00:10:56] All right.

[00:10:57] Okay.

[00:10:58] We'll rank the Christmas DCOMs.

[00:11:00] It's going to be a...

[00:11:01] It's going to be a ranking episode.

[00:11:02] Two-minute episode.

[00:11:02] It's a ranking episode.

[00:11:03] Everybody's looking for it.

[00:11:04] We're actually going to do a little preview episode.

[00:11:05] But don't you want to get to your number one DCOM quicker?

[00:11:08] Of all-time Tiger Cruise.

[00:11:09] Quicker.

[00:11:10] Bill Pullman in a DCOM.

[00:11:13] It's got to be good.

[00:11:14] To tell me how...

[00:11:15] Like, to tell you...

[00:11:16] To tell me how much...

[00:11:17] Tell me how...

[00:11:18] The plot of the movie has stuck with me.

[00:11:21] I didn't know Bill Pullman was in that movie.

[00:11:23] I didn't either.

[00:11:23] Oh my gosh.

[00:11:25] He's second.

[00:11:26] Does he die?

[00:11:27] He's second on the call sheet.

[00:11:29] He's got to be a big part of the movie.

[00:11:30] I think he's Hayden's dad.

[00:11:32] I think he...

[00:11:33] Is he Tiger or is he Cruise?

[00:11:34] I think she's Cruise, he's Tiger.

[00:11:36] Really?

[00:11:37] I probably would have swapped it.

[00:11:38] I roll my windows down.

[00:11:39] I guess we can't call her Tiger, right?

[00:11:41] I don't know.

[00:11:41] She's a kid.

[00:11:43] Let's meet Erica Ender, shall we?

[00:11:45] Of the Ender game.

[00:11:46] Of the Enders game.

[00:11:48] Her dad is a drag racer when she's a little tot and she sees him...

[00:11:53] He works with RuPaul?

[00:11:54] Yeah.

[00:11:55] Okay.

[00:11:56] Thank you.

[00:11:57] I mean, I made that joke and the take of the tape.

[00:12:00] And I'm just bringing it back.

[00:12:01] Yeah.

[00:12:02] Nobody...

[00:12:02] No, yours was better.

[00:12:03] Yours was better.

[00:12:04] Mine wasn't any good.

[00:12:05] Yours was a better...

[00:12:06] I don't remember yours, but I know you made it.

[00:12:08] The fact that there's now a Junior Dragsters magazine is what's wrong with this country.

[00:12:12] So her dad is a drag racer.

[00:12:14] Thanks, Sarah.

[00:12:15] All your emails to brain.

[00:12:16] Thanks, Sarah.

[00:12:17] It was a belayed.

[00:12:19] A belayed?

[00:12:20] A belayed.

[00:12:20] It was a belayed.

[00:12:21] You belayed it right in there.

[00:12:23] Belaya.

[00:12:24] It took me a second because I was like, yeah, there's a Junior Dragster magazine.

[00:12:28] It's in the movie.

[00:12:29] And then I...

[00:12:29] Yeah, you got it.

[00:12:30] I got there.

[00:12:31] Her dad's a drag racer.

[00:12:32] I hate it, but I got there.

[00:12:33] Yeah, I think we all do.

[00:12:34] So her dad is a drag racer and she sees him and is like, ah, that's what I want to

[00:12:39] do.

[00:12:39] But she's a girl.

[00:12:41] Can that happen?

[00:12:43] She's a girl?

[00:12:43] She's a girl.

[00:12:44] Erica Enders is a girl.

[00:12:45] She can't drive a car?

[00:12:48] Fast?

[00:12:48] In a straight line?

[00:12:52] Impossible, you might be saying.

[00:12:53] I mean, as a woman, you could have just stopped, but she can't drive a car.

[00:12:55] No, listen.

[00:12:56] I think it's well documented.

[00:12:58] We are above that.

[00:13:01] So she thinks about...

[00:13:02] I'm going to put a disclaimer in the show notes for this episode that it was recorded

[00:13:06] on November 6th.

[00:13:07] That's right.

[00:13:07] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:13:07] That's why we're here.

[00:13:08] Yeah, so you know.

[00:13:09] Just so you know where we're coming from.

[00:13:11] So she thinks nonstop about drag racing.

[00:13:14] She thinks about, you know, drag racing when she's playing with Play-Doh.

[00:13:18] That's fine.

[00:13:19] She thinks about drag racing when she's playing with Play-Doh.

[00:13:23] She thinks about drag racing when she's...

[00:13:24] Watching drag race.

[00:13:26] Watching drag race.

[00:13:27] She thinks about drag racing when she doesn't have any friends.

[00:13:29] Like, it's nonstop drag race for her and what she does.

[00:13:34] So her dad begins to let her compete in drag race as a child, which some might say too early.

[00:13:44] Again, I don't know.

[00:13:44] Some might.

[00:13:45] It's not our...

[00:13:46] It's not.

[00:13:47] But kids, apparently there is kids that drag race.

[00:13:51] Yeah.

[00:13:51] Had I not seen this movie, I would be like, no, you can't drag race until you have a license.

[00:13:57] But that doesn't matter here.

[00:13:58] You don't need a license.

[00:14:00] You think you shouldn't be allowed to drive fast in a straight line for like a tenth of a mile without a driver's license?

[00:14:06] I would have assumed that they don't let you compete in a sport that involves a car without a driver's license.

[00:14:13] You had no problem when Frankie Muniz did it.

[00:14:15] When who did it?

[00:14:16] You know, that's a great point.

[00:14:17] I thought you said Frank DeMuniz.

[00:14:19] Frankie Muniz.

[00:14:20] Frankie Muniz.

[00:14:22] I know he's a boy.

[00:14:24] Okay.

[00:14:25] I thought you said Frank DeMuniz.

[00:14:27] With a D in there.

[00:14:29] Frank DeMuniz.

[00:14:30] Yeah.

[00:14:30] I think it's the motor more that I would have been like, you probably need a license when you add motor to the Derby.

[00:14:37] Are you kids getting go-karts?

[00:14:38] Okay.

[00:14:39] You're right.

[00:14:39] No.

[00:14:40] I just would have assumed.

[00:14:41] It's one of the dumbest things you've ever seen.

[00:14:43] Sorry.

[00:14:44] No, it wasn't.

[00:14:45] This is?

[00:14:45] I have a lot...

[00:14:46] It wasn't.

[00:14:46] It wasn't.

[00:14:47] I have a lot of things.

[00:14:49] Dan is just saying wild things today.

[00:14:52] Yeah.

[00:14:52] So, her...

[00:14:54] Do you need the sprinkles?

[00:14:55] No, I'm good.

[00:14:56] I'm going to pass on the shot of sprinkles, but thank you.

[00:14:58] We'll do that.

[00:14:59] Yeah, I think my Sunday had to write them out.

[00:15:02] So, she begins to compete...

[00:15:03] I mean, there's a lot of leftover sprinkles on your Sunday.

[00:15:06] Yeah, I haven't finished it yet.

[00:15:07] So, you're saying semen shot this movie.

[00:15:09] Semen shot it.

[00:15:10] Okay.

[00:15:13] Semen shot...

[00:15:13] Just shot all of it.

[00:15:15] Shot the whole movie.

[00:15:16] Okay.

[00:15:17] All right.

[00:15:18] Making sure.

[00:15:20] Yeah.

[00:15:22] So, it turns out...

[00:15:24] She's actually pretty good.

[00:15:25] She starts winning.

[00:15:27] Much to the surprise of the other boy competitors.

[00:15:31] Specifically the dads.

[00:15:32] The dads are...

[00:15:33] Jaylon Nolan over there.

[00:15:34] What's his name?

[00:15:36] Frankie Demunez.

[00:15:37] I think it's Rusty Knowlton.

[00:15:40] Yes.

[00:15:40] And then his son...

[00:15:40] Jaylon Nolan.

[00:15:41] And then his son...

[00:15:42] Jordy.

[00:15:43] Jordy.

[00:15:43] Jordy.

[00:15:44] Jaylon.

[00:15:44] We'll get there.

[00:15:45] We all watch this movie.

[00:15:46] Frank Demunez.

[00:15:48] Yes.

[00:15:52] So, yes.

[00:15:53] That becomes...

[00:15:54] Fast forward a few more years.

[00:15:55] Erica is busy.

[00:15:57] She is competing.

[00:15:58] She is, you know, very competitive.

[00:16:01] She's beating herself up when she doesn't win.

[00:16:03] She is constantly trying to get better with, like, this little Game Boy type of thing where

[00:16:08] you look at how to get faster and stuff.

[00:16:12] It is something you hold in your hand that does have lights on it.

[00:16:14] In that way, it's a Game Boy type thing.

[00:16:16] Thank you.

[00:16:16] There is a screen, but it is a Game Boy type thing.

[00:16:19] There is a screen with numbers.

[00:16:21] Yeah, but there's not a screen, like a screen.

[00:16:23] No.

[00:16:23] It's a Game Boy insofar as it's...

[00:16:25] Handheld with lights.

[00:16:26] Yep.

[00:16:28] Those are the qualifications.

[00:16:29] Her sister, Courtney, is like, no big deal if you lose.

[00:16:32] I don't get to big deal.

[00:16:33] It's like, it's whatever.

[00:16:34] It's just for funds.

[00:16:35] Yeah.

[00:16:35] Um, she doesn't have...

[00:16:37] Expensive just for fun hobby.

[00:16:39] Yeah.

[00:16:39] She doesn't have the same drive, uh, as, uh, Erica does in regards to, uh, the racing.

[00:16:47] Um, and the worst part of it all is she begins to get the attention.

[00:16:51] Like, she's actually good at the sport, which drives Erica nuts, because she's like, you

[00:16:55] don't even care about this.

[00:16:56] But you're like, you come on in.

[00:16:58] You don't care if you win or lose.

[00:17:00] You're just in it to have fun.

[00:17:02] Um, and so that, that begins to frustrate her.

[00:17:05] And she's getting bullied by the boy racers.

[00:17:09] She's getting bullied by the girl volleyball players who don't think that racing is a sport.

[00:17:15] Um, so lots of...

[00:17:17] I mean, you just sit there.

[00:17:18] You just sit there.

[00:17:19] Yeah, you don't do anything.

[00:17:20] Like...

[00:17:20] What are your thoughts on racing, Dan?

[00:17:22] You know, you know my thoughts on racing, and that's why you asked the question.

[00:17:26] I will.

[00:17:27] Racing cars takes an incredible amount of skill, endurance, and ability.

[00:17:31] Like, more than I have.

[00:17:33] Period.

[00:17:34] That's all you need to know.

[00:17:36] Yeah.

[00:17:37] We're going to be a personal life.

[00:17:38] Um, she, she just wants to race, though.

[00:17:41] That's all she wants to do.

[00:17:43] Um, she...

[00:17:43] Well, she also wants to play volleyball.

[00:17:44] Well, of course.

[00:17:45] Yeah.

[00:17:45] Of course she wants to play volleyball.

[00:17:46] She wants friends.

[00:17:46] She wants friends.

[00:17:47] She wants all that.

[00:17:48] But she's very focused on racing.

[00:17:49] How...

[00:17:49] The audacity of this girl to want all of it.

[00:17:53] To want to get to do all the things.

[00:17:54] How dare she?

[00:17:55] You know?

[00:17:57] Unbelievable.

[00:17:58] From your lips.

[00:17:59] Yeah.

[00:17:59] I mean, it does...

[00:18:00] At some point you do have...

[00:18:01] I think as you get more competitive in high school,

[00:18:05] you couldn't be in two sports in the same season.

[00:18:07] If you're going to be a professional driver...

[00:18:10] Yeah.

[00:18:11] Volleyball is hard.

[00:18:11] Before you get your license.

[00:18:13] Um, so she...

[00:18:15] You were hung up on the license.

[00:18:18] Um, I...

[00:18:19] Yeah.

[00:18:20] The go-kart thing's a really good point.

[00:18:22] So she is...

[00:18:23] Thought it might be.

[00:18:24] Although those don't go fast.

[00:18:26] Those don't go real fast.

[00:18:27] There's governors on them.

[00:18:28] Governor?

[00:18:29] Governor.

[00:18:30] She is obsessed with beating this one guy, Jordy.

[00:18:34] We talked about him.

[00:18:35] Jordy Nelson.

[00:18:36] But something always comes up,

[00:18:38] including being too eager at the starting line,

[00:18:40] despite playing the game boy.

[00:18:42] Sometimes you jump the gun a little bit there.

[00:18:44] Um, something exciting happens, though.

[00:18:47] Uh, we find out that Pennzoil is interested in sponsoring her,

[00:18:51] depending on how the big race goes.

[00:18:54] It would be her first big sponsor.

[00:18:55] Big sponsor.

[00:18:56] That's it.

[00:18:57] It would help her get an updated car.

[00:18:59] Her sister could get a new car,

[00:19:00] because her sister's moving up an age bracket.

[00:19:03] It's crazy how the Pennzoil sponsors the Enders in real life.

[00:19:07] Yes.

[00:19:08] Just so happened in the movie, also.

[00:19:09] Yeah.

[00:19:10] How about that?

[00:19:10] Well, it's based on her life story.

[00:19:12] It's good for them, though.

[00:19:13] That was great.

[00:19:15] So we're about halfway through the movie here,

[00:19:16] and you might be wondering, what happened?

[00:19:18] I feel like we're still in the first 10 minutes.

[00:19:19] It's just a lot of driving.

[00:19:21] There's so much racing.

[00:19:22] There's so much driving.

[00:19:23] So what we have talked about in other sports movies,

[00:19:25] where it's like, this is barely this.

[00:19:27] It takes so long to get to the sport.

[00:19:29] This is all this.

[00:19:30] Yes.

[00:19:30] This is all racing.

[00:19:31] It's all this.

[00:19:33] Basically, they're like,

[00:19:33] you might get a Pennzoil sponsorship.

[00:19:35] We've got to see how today's race goes.

[00:19:37] How does the race go, you might be wondering?

[00:19:38] There's a problem with the car.

[00:19:40] She can't brake.

[00:19:41] She ends up crashing through the ropes,

[00:19:45] and then boom.

[00:19:48] We thought she died for a second.

[00:19:51] She doesn't die.

[00:19:51] Well, she does this really dramatic.

[00:19:53] The car crashes and settles.

[00:19:56] She's upright.

[00:19:58] And then after the car settles, she goes.

[00:20:02] My time has come.

[00:20:03] And she has to be airlifted out.

[00:20:06] So things look pretty severe.

[00:20:09] Dan, what'd you say?

[00:20:10] I said, wouldn't it be crazy if they just faded out to black

[00:20:13] and they rolled the credits right now?

[00:20:16] It's a different movie.

[00:20:17] That's coming to max.

[00:20:19] It's very dark.

[00:20:20] Right off track.

[00:20:21] It's the season finale of The Penguin for some reason.

[00:20:23] I don't know why.

[00:20:24] It's weird.

[00:20:24] It's super weird.

[00:20:26] It's very weird.

[00:20:28] Erica gets airlifted to the hospital.

[00:20:30] Yes.

[00:20:31] And when she comes to and she realizes

[00:20:34] she doesn't have concussion,

[00:20:35] and she's overall in pretty good shape.

[00:20:37] It's like the safety restraints and the headgear

[00:20:40] and the special suit and then the nets.

[00:20:42] There's layers of nets at the end of the racetrack

[00:20:45] to catch the car.

[00:20:47] It's almost like those safety precautions helped.

[00:20:50] How about that?

[00:20:50] What?

[00:20:50] How about that?

[00:20:51] Which this was happening in the 90s,

[00:20:53] so that's interesting.

[00:20:55] I would have assumed that there weren't any safety precautions

[00:20:57] in the 90s.

[00:20:58] Well, I mean, we haven't seen real drag racing,

[00:21:01] like adult drag racing in the 90s.

[00:21:03] We saw kid drag racing.

[00:21:04] That's true.

[00:21:05] Yeah.

[00:21:05] Junior drag racing.

[00:21:06] I'm sorry.

[00:21:07] Not kid.

[00:21:07] Junior drag racing.

[00:21:08] So we don't know.

[00:21:09] I can't speak to adult drag racing,

[00:21:12] but at least for the kids, they had safety.

[00:21:14] But you are taking on the mission to watch a bunch of adult drag racing

[00:21:21] over the next week, and you're going to get back to us next week.

[00:21:23] Should I watch current drag racing,

[00:21:25] or should I try to find some races from the 90s?

[00:21:28] From the 90s, just to compare what you say.

[00:21:30] Yeah.

[00:21:32] I'll take the week.

[00:21:34] Get real into...

[00:21:35] Well, that's just another Friday for you.

[00:21:37] You watch drag racing every weekend.

[00:21:39] Who doesn't?

[00:21:39] Yeah.

[00:21:40] But I typically stick to the juniors.

[00:21:41] Of course.

[00:21:42] Because of this movie.

[00:21:43] It's really impacted the last 20 years of my life, apparently.

[00:21:45] You did talk about how important this movie is.

[00:21:48] I did.

[00:21:49] This movie...

[00:21:49] Because when you get to a red light, you think about this movie.

[00:21:53] Wow.

[00:21:53] Every red light.

[00:21:54] The scene where Erica is playing with the Game Boy that...

[00:22:00] Right, the Game Boy.

[00:22:01] Where...

[00:22:01] Basically.

[00:22:01] The whole point is as soon as the light changes,

[00:22:05] you want to get a perfect 5-0 start.

[00:22:08] And she's up in like 5.2, whatever.

[00:22:11] And so she's trying to get that reaction time down.

[00:22:14] And it has stuck with me.

[00:22:17] Like when...

[00:22:17] You know...

[00:22:18] I guess maybe not every time.

[00:22:20] But when you see the other light...

[00:22:21] It is a high...

[00:22:23] Yes.

[00:22:23] When I see the other light move yellow...

[00:22:25] Red.

[00:22:26] Yeah.

[00:22:26] I think about it...

[00:22:27] Three, two, one.

[00:22:27] Go.

[00:22:29] Almost a high percentage of the time that I'm at a stoplight.

[00:22:32] This might be a dumb question.

[00:22:35] I was going to say there's no dumb questions, but this is you.

[00:22:38] Okay.

[00:22:38] You did a thing where...

[00:22:39] Is it legal for them to drag race?

[00:22:40] These youngsters?

[00:22:42] Well, try this one.

[00:22:42] Try this one for size.

[00:22:43] Okay.

[00:22:44] So to go, you use foot, right?

[00:22:48] But she's practicing with fingers.

[00:22:52] Does the response time to fingers equate equally to the response time to foot?

[00:22:57] It's a great question, but it's not a dumb question.

[00:22:59] It's a great question.

[00:23:00] I thought about this during the movie, and I think there is the...

[00:23:04] Thank you.

[00:23:05] The hand-eye...

[00:23:06] I see that in the rafters.

[00:23:07] The hand-eye or foot-eye coordination, as it were.

[00:23:10] What she's doing doesn't help that, but it does help her get a memory for the exact timing of when it's going green.

[00:23:19] Like, doing it over and over again using a handheld device would still help your brain and your eyes make that connection, even though it doesn't help your foot time it.

[00:23:29] But it does help.

[00:23:30] Okay.

[00:23:30] But she has to do more.

[00:23:31] She still has to get on the track.

[00:23:32] Well, I mean, it's one thing.

[00:23:33] It's like, you know, there's only so many hours in a day in which she can run the one race, get back up to the start, run it again.

[00:23:41] And so it's one of those things where it's like, if you're going to practice, but, you know, you can't be in a car multiple hours a day.

[00:23:48] Right.

[00:23:48] It's something to be doing, to be helping train that brain.

[00:23:52] Yeah.

[00:23:52] Of that timing and that reaction time.

[00:23:54] And she has to poly-francae, so she can't just...

[00:23:56] She has to poly-francae.

[00:23:56] That's right.

[00:23:56] That's right.

[00:23:57] Yes.

[00:23:57] That's right.

[00:23:58] So after realizing that the safety precautions did work, she wants to get right back to the track.

[00:24:03] It's like getting close to nighttime, but she just wants to get back in the car and do one race.

[00:24:07] She's afraid that if she takes too much time.

[00:24:09] If she takes too much time to think about what happened, she'll get scared and not want to get back in the car.

[00:24:13] Exactly.

[00:24:14] Great life lesson.

[00:24:15] Yes.

[00:24:15] And so she does it and she crushes it.

[00:24:18] And what she doesn't know is that the Pennzoil guy...

[00:24:20] Mr. Pennzoil.

[00:24:21] ...is always watching the track.

[00:24:22] Yeah, the Pennzoil's always watching.

[00:24:24] We say that around here all the time.

[00:24:25] We do.

[00:24:28] And I hate that because it's a reminder that they still haven't sponsored us.

[00:24:33] We would.

[00:24:33] We're big in oil, but they've stayed away from us, which is crazy.

[00:24:39] We're big in oil here, Decon Decenters.

[00:24:41] They're always watching.

[00:24:43] Big oil barons.

[00:24:43] Yeah.

[00:24:43] Big oil people.

[00:24:44] Yeah.

[00:24:45] That's where our money comes from.

[00:24:46] That's right.

[00:24:47] That's how we can afford ice cream.

[00:24:49] That's right.

[00:24:49] That's right.

[00:24:50] And gold sprinkles.

[00:24:51] These are gold chips.

[00:24:52] Gold sprinkles.

[00:24:53] Yeah.

[00:24:53] I went and found the...

[00:24:55] I took one of our many gold bricks that's lying around the office.

[00:24:58] Right.

[00:24:59] And I spent my spare time just chiseling away.

[00:25:02] Yes.

[00:25:03] But Pennzoil, call us.

[00:25:05] So he's watching and he...

[00:25:07] Mr. Pennzoil.

[00:25:09] Mr. Pennzoil himself knocks on the door and says, hello, I am here.

[00:25:14] It's me.

[00:25:14] I am Mr. Pennzoil.

[00:25:16] Mr. Pennzoil.

[00:25:18] And he makes her an offer.

[00:25:20] Whose oil is it?

[00:25:21] Pennzoil.

[00:25:22] I'm on Pennzoil needles.

[00:25:25] So they make her an offer.

[00:25:28] She's like, why now?

[00:25:31] Because she didn't know before the race that Mr. Pennzoil was interested.

[00:25:34] Her dad and her sister, Courtney, kept that a secret because they didn't want to spook her.

[00:25:39] Stress her out.

[00:25:39] Which is knowing her stress level.

[00:25:41] Fair.

[00:25:42] That's fair.

[00:25:43] And so she's like, why now?

[00:25:44] And then he explains that, you know, I was interested before.

[00:25:47] And she's like, what?

[00:25:49] But then and then I saw you get back out there and I knew that you were going to be a winner.

[00:25:53] And she says, I'll do this, but only if my sister gets a sponsorship as well.

[00:25:56] So how about that?

[00:25:57] Looking out.

[00:25:58] And Mr. Pennzoil does not need to go back to the board.

[00:26:01] Yes.

[00:26:01] He's good.

[00:26:02] Because I think he had said something earlier about like, I want to see what your daughter can bring.

[00:26:06] And then I'm going to go talk to the company.

[00:26:08] But he decides, don't need to talk to the company.

[00:26:10] I'm going to say yes to Erica and plot twist.

[00:26:13] The only...

[00:26:14] Yes to Courtney.

[00:26:14] The only thing I can assume is that he went back to the boys and the boys were like, whatever you have to do.

[00:26:21] Okay.

[00:26:22] Just pay.

[00:26:23] No expense held here.

[00:26:25] You have to get her.

[00:26:27] And so that's the only thing that makes sense because he would definitely have had to go.

[00:26:30] But like, I got to clear this with the other oil guys.

[00:26:33] But he doesn't have to.

[00:26:35] And our big boy oil meeting.

[00:26:36] Yeah.

[00:26:36] Big boy oil.

[00:26:38] Try saying that a lot.

[00:26:39] Big boy oil.

[00:26:40] Big boy.

[00:26:40] Say it a lot.

[00:26:42] Say it a lot.

[00:26:42] Try saying that a lot.

[00:26:43] You know?

[00:26:44] Whatever that means to you.

[00:26:48] So, they're now sponsored.

[00:26:50] It's Vegas Pictures.

[00:26:51] No, no.

[00:26:52] Try saying that a lot.

[00:26:53] A lot.

[00:26:54] Five times is for chumps.

[00:26:57] Unique New York.

[00:26:58] There you go.

[00:26:58] Say that a lot.

[00:26:59] You say it a lot.

[00:27:00] Unique New York.

[00:27:01] Unique New York.

[00:27:02] Unique New York.

[00:27:03] Unique New York.

[00:27:04] Unique New York.

[00:27:05] Oh, I got held up there at the end.

[00:27:08] New York.

[00:27:09] Unique New York.

[00:27:10] It's like I went over a little bump.

[00:27:12] Yeah.

[00:27:12] A little speed bump.

[00:27:14] Unique New York.

[00:27:16] Unique New York.

[00:27:16] Unique New York.

[00:27:17] You're such a nork right now.

[00:27:18] Yeah, you nork.

[00:27:19] Quit norking on me.

[00:27:20] If you guys have lost the plot, don't worry.

[00:27:22] We're talking about right on track.

[00:27:23] Right on track.

[00:27:24] Right on track.

[00:27:24] We are right on track.

[00:27:25] We're right back on track.

[00:27:26] Okay.

[00:27:26] So she's getting so busy and whatnot, and she finds out that she has a B in French class.

[00:27:32] You might be thinking, oui, oui, that's wonderful.

[00:27:33] Yeah.

[00:27:34] It's not wonderful because there was a deal early on in the movie that she made with her

[00:27:38] dad that in order to compete out of the greater Houston area, she has to get an A.

[00:27:47] Yeah.

[00:27:47] So she can still compete with the B, but it can only be local races.

[00:27:51] That's exactly right.

[00:27:52] And if she drops down to a C, she's done.

[00:27:54] Such a specific agreement with dad.

[00:27:56] So that would mean no nationals.

[00:27:59] And got to be honest.

[00:28:00] What about regionals?

[00:28:02] Yeah, I think I don't.

[00:28:03] Well, regionals, yes.

[00:28:04] She's good.

[00:28:04] She's in the region.

[00:28:05] Yes.

[00:28:06] I thought about it.

[00:28:06] You tried to trick me up.

[00:28:07] It's a unique New York situation.

[00:28:09] New York situation.

[00:28:12] So she's tempted to cheat.

[00:28:14] She's tempted to cheat on this test because if she can get an A on the final exam, she could

[00:28:20] get that grade up.

[00:28:20] She's tempted to cheat, but she doesn't want to do that.

[00:28:23] She's also very stressed.

[00:28:25] She shows up, ends up showing up late to a volleyball game.

[00:28:29] She ends up showing late to a volleyball game.

[00:28:32] And because the race car truck vehicle pull system.

[00:28:37] The race car truck vehicle pull system.

[00:28:40] Yes.

[00:28:40] Good God.

[00:28:41] I don't know what it's called, man.

[00:28:43] Or any of those words.

[00:28:45] The race car truck vehicle pull system.

[00:28:46] What's happening?

[00:28:47] So the race car has a truck.

[00:28:49] It's a trailer.

[00:28:51] The trailer that holds all of the vehicles.

[00:28:53] But the trailer doesn't break down.

[00:28:56] I know, right?

[00:28:56] The truck pulling the trailer.

[00:28:59] The race car truck vehicle system.

[00:29:01] Yes.

[00:29:02] We said it's clear as day.

[00:29:04] Say that a lot.

[00:29:05] It breaks down.

[00:29:06] She ends up being late to the volleyball game and her team is so mad at her.

[00:29:13] So mad at her.

[00:29:13] Are there 27 other people on this volleyball team?

[00:29:16] So many people on the volleyball team.

[00:29:18] It's a lot.

[00:29:19] A lot of people.

[00:29:20] Could have had an inner squad scrimmage.

[00:29:21] Did the star volleyball players even want her on the team?

[00:29:23] No.

[00:29:24] No.

[00:29:25] No.

[00:29:26] But what can you do?

[00:29:26] And then the best part of that whole scene is the coach.

[00:29:28] Yes.

[00:29:29] The coach is just like, I always expected better of you.

[00:29:34] Everyone just was mad at her.

[00:29:35] Her best friend won't even look at her.

[00:29:37] And the coach is, I expected better of you, Erica.

[00:29:41] All right.

[00:29:41] Well, if your team can only win with one person.

[00:29:45] A person they don't even want around.

[00:29:47] Maybe your team's not good.

[00:29:48] Maybe you should have been nicer to her the entire time.

[00:29:51] Anyway, so she's at an all-time low here.

[00:29:54] And she decides, I'm just going to quit.

[00:29:56] I'm going to quit racing.

[00:29:58] She packs up all of her trophies.

[00:29:59] Well, she also did just talk about Todd.

[00:30:01] I haven't talked about Todd yet.

[00:30:02] He factors into.

[00:30:03] Yes.

[00:30:04] Yes.

[00:30:05] Yeah.

[00:30:05] Okay.

[00:30:05] You go ahead.

[00:30:06] You talk about Todd.

[00:30:06] So there is a cute boy.

[00:30:08] We have seen him periodically.

[00:30:09] Oh, a cute boy.

[00:30:10] Yes.

[00:30:10] Yes.

[00:30:10] Cute boy.

[00:30:11] Cute boy Todd, as we call him.

[00:30:12] Cute boy Todd.

[00:30:13] Is that cute boy Todd?

[00:30:14] Yeah.

[00:30:14] He's on the basketball team.

[00:30:16] So obviously when the volleyball team and the basketball team are practicing at the same

[00:30:18] time, she's just staring at Todd.

[00:30:23] He asks her to hang out.

[00:30:26] And then she's like, oh, I've got race stuff.

[00:30:29] And he's like, all right.

[00:30:30] And he leaves.

[00:30:31] And she's like, well, I'm failing French with a B.

[00:30:34] I let my team down.

[00:30:35] And now I can't go out with Todd.

[00:30:37] Racing is getting in the way of everything.

[00:30:39] That's right.

[00:30:40] She packs up all of her trophies.

[00:30:42] And she's like, I'm done.

[00:30:43] I'm done with this.

[00:30:44] I'm retiring.

[00:30:44] I'm retiring at 15 and a half.

[00:30:46] But then much to her surprise, she ends up having some flirty, flirty fun time with

[00:30:50] Todd.

[00:30:51] Flirty, flirty fun time.

[00:30:52] That's right.

[00:30:52] He tutors her.

[00:30:53] He is shocked to find out that she quit.

[00:30:55] Oh, yeah.

[00:30:56] He's like, he's crazy.

[00:30:57] They do end up having a tutoring session.

[00:31:00] And then she gets an A on her final exam.

[00:31:02] And she decides she's back in.

[00:31:03] Going to nationals.

[00:31:04] Back in.

[00:31:05] I'm ready to go.

[00:31:06] So she and Courtney, they pack up the vehicles onto the trailer truck pulley system that we

[00:31:13] talked about earlier.

[00:31:14] Yes.

[00:31:14] Yeah.

[00:31:14] So they used to travel in.

[00:31:17] They have like a trailer that they stay in.

[00:31:20] Stay in.

[00:31:20] And then they have the pulley system.

[00:31:23] That's what I'm saying.

[00:31:23] There's lots of new car truck trailer system.

[00:31:26] It's a race.

[00:31:26] Erica and Courtney take a third vehicle.

[00:31:29] A third vehicle.

[00:31:30] There's the trailer.

[00:31:31] There's the truck.

[00:31:32] And there's the pulley system.

[00:31:33] So we can get an amazing Hilary Duff soundtrack moment.

[00:31:36] Yes.

[00:31:36] With the windows down.

[00:31:38] The wind blowing through their hair.

[00:31:39] Hilary Duff's playing on the radio.

[00:31:41] I mean.

[00:31:42] It was all of us.

[00:31:42] Come on.

[00:31:43] It was all of us.

[00:31:43] What more did you want in 2003?

[00:31:45] That's exactly right.

[00:31:46] You got Brie Larson and Beverly Mitchell in a car blasting Hilary Duff.

[00:31:49] Say less.

[00:31:50] It's the best.

[00:31:52] Number one deco.

[00:31:54] Might be our afternoons.

[00:31:55] So she.

[00:31:57] They get there and she wants to do like another practice session or something like that.

[00:32:02] She's already made the time.

[00:32:03] She already qualified.

[00:32:04] But the guy is like, we can't do that.

[00:32:07] And also there's nobody for you to like go up against to do that.

[00:32:11] It's just that they have an odd number of reasons.

[00:32:12] I've got a Brie Larson.

[00:32:14] And they're like, oh, you've got a sister.

[00:32:15] Cool.

[00:32:15] Yeah.

[00:32:16] You've already hit your time.

[00:32:18] So.

[00:32:19] So she and Courtney end up being like, well, we can compete.

[00:32:24] We can compete against each other for the sake of this.

[00:32:26] And so they are like, OK, great.

[00:32:28] And the entire racing world gets pumped.

[00:32:31] Pumped.

[00:32:31] We love this.

[00:32:32] This is wonderful.

[00:32:33] This is huge.

[00:32:34] Ender's game versus Ender's game.

[00:32:35] Ender's game.

[00:32:36] That's right.

[00:32:38] And I think it's safe to say this type of race ends up bringing out the best in both

[00:32:44] of them.

[00:32:44] They're like pushing each other.

[00:32:46] Yeah.

[00:32:46] It's a whole thing.

[00:32:47] And it might be just what she needs in order to win at nationals.

[00:32:52] Um, except right before the final race, Jordy's dad comes up and says she is being too perfect.

[00:33:04] She's got too many of those five.

[00:33:06] Oh, start the five.

[00:33:06] Oh, starts.

[00:33:07] You can't have this.

[00:33:08] No way that's possible.

[00:33:09] He says there must be some sort of sensor in the vehicle that right when it's green, it

[00:33:14] goes.

[00:33:15] I have signatures.

[00:33:16] Yes, I have.

[00:33:17] And there's like, there's like three men who are standing behind him who don't say a word.

[00:33:22] And I imagine it's their three signatures on this piece of paper.

[00:33:25] So that's enough to invade her car.

[00:33:27] Yes.

[00:33:27] The official does say they have a few signatures.

[00:33:30] They got a few.

[00:33:30] It's not just him.

[00:33:31] They have signatures.

[00:33:33] Say no more.

[00:33:34] Um, and so they do do a full investigation and they find out.

[00:33:38] I know, I know.

[00:33:40] Um, uh, and it turns out she wasn't cheating at all.

[00:33:42] Oh, cool.

[00:33:43] Wasn't cheating at all.

[00:33:44] But the night before the big race, they dismantle her entire car.

[00:33:46] It's crazy.

[00:33:47] It's a crazy thing to do.

[00:33:48] Um, but they get it back together.

[00:33:50] Well, the boy that is on the team.

[00:33:52] And his name is?

[00:33:54] Crucif.

[00:33:55] Randy.

[00:33:56] Randy.

[00:33:56] Randy out in the grass.

[00:33:57] That's exactly right.

[00:33:57] Randy out in the grass with Randy.

[00:33:59] Randy also has had a crush on her, but then he, she puts him in the friend zone and he never

[00:34:05] speaks of it again.

[00:34:06] Worse than the friend zone.

[00:34:07] She puts him in the brother's zone.

[00:34:09] Yeah.

[00:34:09] You don't speak of it again, but you secretly think about it every moment of your life.

[00:34:14] You still think about it to this day.

[00:34:16] Um, and so, uh, she, it's time for her and Jordy.

[00:34:20] It's the finals.

[00:34:21] And you could tell that Jordy has been kind of uncomfortable with how his dad has been treating,

[00:34:28] um, uh, Erica throughout this movie.

[00:34:32] Really?

[00:34:32] But he's never really spoken of.

[00:34:33] You can kind of see, he, he never does the thing.

[00:34:35] It's all his dad.

[00:34:37] And he's just kind of sitting there kind of, especially towards the end.

[00:34:40] You can tell his face.

[00:34:41] Well, I think you silently standing there and not saying anything is you saying something.

[00:34:44] Yeah, he's silently complicit.

[00:34:46] 100%.

[00:34:46] He doesn't, you're right.

[00:34:47] He doesn't have a backbone.

[00:34:48] 100%.

[00:34:48] Yeah.

[00:34:49] Um, but that's why, like at the, that's why at the end when he does the thing, we're just

[00:34:53] kind of like, okay, whatever.

[00:34:54] So good for you.

[00:34:55] But she wins.

[00:34:55] She wins the race fair and square.

[00:34:58] No one can say anything.

[00:35:00] That's right.

[00:35:00] About this.

[00:35:01] Um, and old Jordy over there, uh, never races again.

[00:35:04] We don't know that.

[00:35:05] No, we don't.

[00:35:06] We like to think it.

[00:35:06] He does congratulate Erica on winning.

[00:35:11] Um, the actor never acted again.

[00:35:13] Oh, wow.

[00:35:14] That's what we do know.

[00:35:15] Um, and we get a whole like, here's.

[00:35:17] Which is a bummer because.

[00:35:18] He was fun.

[00:35:19] Yeah.

[00:35:20] And like the two lines.

[00:35:20] He was good looking.

[00:35:21] He could have made it in some made for TV movies.

[00:35:22] Yeah.

[00:35:23] Sure.

[00:35:24] Um, and then.

[00:35:25] Is he on this season of Finding Mr. Christmas?

[00:35:27] Maybe he is on Finding Mr. Christmas.

[00:35:28] Um, and then we get like a whole like.

[00:35:30] He's not because he's an actor.

[00:35:31] Here's, uh, here's what, uh, Erica and Courtney did in real life because it's a real life

[00:35:36] story and, um, it's real nice.

[00:35:39] Went to college.

[00:35:40] Still, according to the movie, still in college.

[00:35:42] Yeah.

[00:35:43] Surprisingly, they haven't updated the end credits since 2003.

[00:35:46] Can you believe it?

[00:35:47] She's been in college for a really long time.

[00:35:49] The only update I have on Erica is that in 2023, she was named most winning this woman

[00:35:54] in motorsports.

[00:35:55] How about that?

[00:35:55] I love that.

[00:35:56] How about that?

[00:35:56] She is still racing.

[00:35:58] I don't believe she's in drag racing anymore.

[00:35:59] I do believe she's moved over to stock cars.

[00:36:01] There you go.

[00:36:02] Um, and that is.

[00:36:05] Right on track.

[00:36:07] Um, let's do this.

[00:36:08] Let's take a quick break.

[00:36:09] We're going to come back and we are going to, uh, how quick of a break.

[00:36:12] I mean, for us pretty quick.

[00:36:13] Okay.

[00:36:14] Yeah.

[00:36:14] Um, and then we'll, uh, we'll talk about our thoughts and where it ends up on the list

[00:36:19] here on.

[00:36:21] Decom Descendants.

[00:36:31] Welcome back everybody.

[00:36:33] Hi.

[00:36:33] Decom Descendants.

[00:36:35] That's right.

[00:36:36] That's right.

[00:36:37] It's time for us to, uh, head into overtime.

[00:36:40] Everybody.

[00:36:40] We're talking about how this movie aged over time.

[00:36:42] I've got some letterbox reviews.

[00:36:43] If you guys want them.

[00:36:45] Uh, Megan says one and a half stars.

[00:36:47] Anything for you, Brie Larson.

[00:36:49] Uh, Zara Gwinn 06 says two and a half stars.

[00:36:52] I'm all for female empowerment, but I still don't get the point of drag racing.

[00:36:56] How does a driver have any influence over how fast this car goes?

[00:37:00] Seems like it just kind of happens.

[00:37:01] Fair enough, Zara.

[00:37:02] Um, Alberto Wrangel says three and a half stars.

[00:37:05] Fast and furious at the patriarchy.

[00:37:08] Um, Balami says two and a half stars.

[00:37:11] Genuinely a better movie than Ford versus Ferrari.

[00:37:15] Wow.

[00:37:15] Wow.

[00:37:16] That is wild.

[00:37:17] Bellamy?

[00:37:18] Uh, Bellamy.

[00:37:20] Balami.

[00:37:20] Balami.

[00:37:21] Balami.

[00:37:21] Balami says so.

[00:37:22] Balami.

[00:37:23] Um, Hillary says four and a half stars.

[00:37:26] I don't think I need to see Gran Turismo anymore.

[00:37:29] No way it'll be better than this.

[00:37:32] Um, Adam says two and a half stars.

[00:37:33] Uh, Brie Larson should have challenged Thanos to a drag race.

[00:37:38] Oh, God.

[00:37:39] Emily Heller says, I don't remember my grandfather's funeral, but I could recite the monologue that Lucy from Seventh Heaven gives about how racing is a sport.

[00:37:48] Uh, let's give our thoughts about this movie.

[00:37:51] Aaron, clearly a very influential movie for you in regards to stoplights, but how do you feel like this movie aged over time?

[00:37:58] What are your thoughts on it?

[00:38:00] Yeah, there is definitely a lot in this movie that has stuck with me.

[00:38:03] Um, we've already talked about, you know, the stoplight scenario.

[00:38:07] Um, I took French in school and their pronunciations of like, like, it just drives me insane.

[00:38:15] Insane drove me insane when I was in school trying to learn how to speak French.

[00:38:18] Um, so I think about how he pronounces pen and pencil in French a lot.

[00:38:24] Yeah, but he's cute.

[00:38:25] So, yeah.

[00:38:25] I mean, you just keep poitad.

[00:38:28] He can, you know, he can pronounce French wherever he wants.

[00:38:30] But it's amazing that him doing that got her an A.

[00:38:33] So, I guess, I guess somebody was correct.

[00:38:37] Um, yeah, a lot of this movie stuck with me.

[00:38:39] It was real fun to watch on November 6th.

[00:38:42] Um, just watching a woman become the best in her field, believe in herself, believe that she can accomplish her dreams.

[00:38:49] Um, so real fun watch.

[00:38:51] Um, it has been a few years.

[00:38:53] I do own this one.

[00:38:55] When I worked at elementary school, I did make the kids watch this every now and then.

[00:38:58] Um, yeah, it's still held up for me.

[00:39:01] It's a movie that the real Eric Enders still acknowledges.

[00:39:06] So, that's good to know.

[00:39:08] Um, yeah, still held up.

[00:39:10] I will watch this movie again.

[00:39:12] Yeah, big, big fan.

[00:39:14] Um, yeah, this movie is good.

[00:39:17] There is a lot of racing in this movie.

[00:39:20] A lot of racing.

[00:39:21] Um, but the, just the performances, the plots, the movements, the fact that Dad is just supportive.

[00:39:28] Uh, is really nice.

[00:39:30] Um, and a nice kind of change of pace in regards to the DCOMs.

[00:39:33] We've had a lot of bad dads, um, on DCOMs.

[00:39:36] Or dads that have started off bad and not supportive.

[00:39:39] Like, um, a good comp for this would be Motocross, where the dad is not supportive of his daughter wanting to race.

[00:39:46] And then finally at the end comes around.

[00:39:49] That's not the case with this one.

[00:39:50] Um, this dad is just immediately supportive, which is nice.

[00:39:55] It's a nice change of pace.

[00:39:56] Um, and, uh, yeah, it's, it's good.

[00:40:00] I think it's, weirdly enough, the biggest doc for this movie is that it's not, like, fun enough compared to some of the other Zane.

[00:40:09] There's not enough Zane.

[00:40:10] There's no hijinks.

[00:40:11] There's no hijinks.

[00:40:12] There's not enough Zane.

[00:40:14] And also just too much of the sport, which apparently, uh, I don't want with the DCOM.

[00:40:21] I don't want there to be a lot of the sports.

[00:40:23] As little sport as you can give me, uh, looking at you, double teamed.

[00:40:28] Well, I mean, Brink is your favorite movie.

[00:40:30] That's exactly right.

[00:40:31] There's a lot of skating in Brink.

[00:40:32] Yeah, but overall, I thought they did a really good, really good job, uh, with this movie, all things considered.

[00:40:37] Dano?

[00:40:38] Yeah, I think this movie may be a victim of circumstance for me.

[00:40:41] Uh, watching it when we watched it wasn't the best.

[00:40:44] Um, I thought it was just okay.

[00:40:46] I, I think, you know, motocross, there's something about the challenges that she faces in motocross that really was pretty awesome to me.

[00:40:55] Like her dad, the fact that she has to basically pretend to be a guy, there's so much of it that is very literally her taking on a patriarchal system.

[00:41:06] This was like more paint by numbers for me.

[00:41:10] I, I, I didn't need that much racing.

[00:41:12] I would love more hijinks.

[00:41:14] No one in this movie is funny.

[00:41:15] Like no one in this movie is like a funny, like DCOM character.

[00:41:20] It's just a real life story.

[00:41:22] That's a really inspiring story.

[00:41:24] And it's not bad by any stretch, but it, it, I think the, the, the problem is, is we've watched other racing movies and we've watched other sport movies that I've liked better.

[00:41:34] And when we watched this movie, I just wasn't in the mood to watch it.

[00:41:38] And I just, there was no zaniness or hijinks or anything other than just a pure unadulterated straight.

[00:41:45] It's like drag racing itself.

[00:41:47] It was just a straight line of a movie.

[00:41:49] Like there's very little in the way of like conflict.

[00:41:52] Like it's, it's, it's just like, it's like, if you look at like a, like miracle in lane two, which is another comp cause it's a racing movie.

[00:41:59] Like the, the relationship that she, that Frankie has with the guy across the street that only ends up teaching him is a really interesting and intriguing story that this movie doesn't really have.

[00:42:10] It doesn't really have that.

[00:42:11] Like, I didn't mean to interrupt you, but Brink, like he looks like he's going to be with the X-Blads over there.

[00:42:16] And so like this movie, I bet you, and I don't know this, obviously the Andrew story is a very remarkably inspiring story, but the thing where he makes up or the other guy is like, she can't have that many five O starts in a row.

[00:42:30] So that's that by the time we get that conflict, it seems fake.

[00:42:35] It seems like fabricated because we've not really had any, like she missed a volleyball game.

[00:42:42] The car, the truck broke down.

[00:42:43] There's nothing like, you know, I, for me, I just, I, I wanted, I didn't care that much.

[00:42:50] I thought it was an inspiring story and I did learn about the Ender sisters and I looked them up and they're great, but it didn't do what Motocross Brink or, or the, the Miracle in Lane 2 did for me.

[00:43:04] Let's make our list, shall we?

[00:43:06] Right on track.

[00:43:07] Where's it going to land in the grand scheme of things?

[00:43:11] Erin, where are you putting this one?

[00:43:14] Yeah, this one is going to premiere in my top 10.

[00:43:17] Thought about it real hard.

[00:43:19] I think a lot of what you said stands true.

[00:43:21] Like it's not as a DCOM, it doesn't hit those notes.

[00:43:25] You know, it is a fairly, the whole movement movie is pretty much like an uphill.

[00:43:30] Yeah.

[00:43:30] It's just, it's all right.

[00:43:31] It's little bumps, but here we go.

[00:43:33] The thing that I really loved about it is like in Motocross, she is pretending to be a guy.

[00:43:39] And once she proves herself as a winner, then reveals herself to be a girl and she's already been accepted.

[00:43:47] It was, it was tough watching this on November 6th.

[00:43:50] I'm not going to lie.

[00:43:50] And, and watching her, and even when she's like, you know, her dad's like, are you sure you can do this?

[00:43:56] She's like, I can do anything.

[00:43:57] Like these little, like these little young girls in this movie really tore at my heart.

[00:44:02] But it was really impressive to watch Erica.

[00:44:05] It was tough for her to start out in this racing world, but she did it as herself the whole time.

[00:44:11] And she never changed who she was.

[00:44:13] And there's even a touching moment between the sisters or, you know, cause she's like, it comes so easy to you, Courtney.

[00:44:18] And Courtney's like, yeah, because I didn't have to be first.

[00:44:20] Like you have to be first.

[00:44:22] You went out and did all these hard things and now I can come along and it's easier for me.

[00:44:27] And it's going to be so much easier for other girls who follow me.

[00:44:31] Like you did that hard thing.

[00:44:33] So super inspiring.

[00:44:34] I love this movie as a kid.

[00:44:36] I've seen it many times throughout the years.

[00:44:38] So yeah, it is in my top 10.

[00:44:40] I can imagine this being as impactful as any of the sports movies we've watched, especially the young girls watching in 2003.

[00:44:45] Especially being a true story.

[00:44:48] Yeah.

[00:44:49] The only other true story is double teamed and that's just so ridiculous.

[00:44:52] I even love the scene where, you know, the volleyball girl is giving her a hard time about how racing is not a real sport.

[00:44:58] Cause it is hard to justify it when you're like, oh, it's not football.

[00:45:00] It's not baseball.

[00:45:01] But she whips around.

[00:45:02] She's like, this is what my body goes through on a daily basis when I get in that car.

[00:45:07] Um, and I just love that.

[00:45:09] Like she wasn't mean about it, but she like stood up for herself and was like, no, it's really hard.

[00:45:14] And I do it and I love it.

[00:45:16] So yeah.

[00:45:17] Great movie.

[00:45:18] Here's my top 10.

[00:45:19] Okay.

[00:45:20] Not going to cry about it.

[00:45:21] Um, number 10.

[00:45:24] We have Halloween town.

[00:45:26] Number nine.

[00:45:28] Scream team.

[00:45:29] Oh, um, some slight change them ups.

[00:45:33] Number eight.

[00:45:34] Miracle on lane to seven.

[00:45:36] Get a clue.

[00:45:37] Wow.

[00:45:38] Six.

[00:45:38] Phantom of the Megaplex.

[00:45:39] Wow.

[00:45:40] Uh, five.

[00:45:42] Smart house.

[00:45:42] Wow.

[00:45:44] Four.

[00:45:44] Johnny tsunami.

[00:45:45] Oh my God.

[00:45:47] Three.

[00:45:47] Right on track to get a clue.

[00:45:49] One motocross.

[00:45:49] I didn't.

[00:45:50] You said get a clue for twice.

[00:45:52] What's number two?

[00:45:53] Cadet Kelly.

[00:45:53] Cadet.

[00:45:53] Sorry.

[00:45:54] Sorry.

[00:45:54] Cadet Kelly.

[00:45:55] Yeah.

[00:45:55] I didn't see it coming in at number three.

[00:45:58] Got to be honest.

[00:45:59] Didn't see it.

[00:46:00] It might be my brink.

[00:46:01] Yeah.

[00:46:02] Fair.

[00:46:03] Grace.

[00:46:03] Maybe all time.

[00:46:04] You mean it might be better than break.

[00:46:06] Um, I think, uh, to that point though, you mentioned the powerful conversations that she has with

[00:46:12] her sister.

[00:46:13] I'm not saying this because it's Brie Larson, cause it doesn't really matter who it is.

[00:46:16] Uh, they, she could have had more interactions with her sister cause every time they were together,

[00:46:21] uh, it was great.

[00:46:23] And I would have liked to see like that relationship was really solid.

[00:46:27] Um, and so that would be another thing that would have helped the movie a little bit.

[00:46:31] Uh, I have this movie previewing, previewing, previewing, premiering at 14.

[00:46:38] I didn't have it previewing anywhere.

[00:46:39] Yeah.

[00:46:40] Well, wait until you just give us, I know you're still thinking about where it's previewing.

[00:46:43] Um, I have a premiering at 14.

[00:46:46] Um, right in front of Jet Jackson, which I have at 15 and right behind Miracle on lane

[00:46:52] two, um, at, at 13.

[00:46:56] Um, my 10 is scream team at 10 phantom at nine.

[00:47:00] Mom's got a date.

[00:47:01] He's struggling.

[00:47:02] Just we'll just let him go.

[00:47:03] Uh, yeah, it's a stream.

[00:47:04] Uh, I'm using my screen cream, uh, my stream cream, uh, scream team.

[00:47:10] Mom's got a date at eight.

[00:47:11] Luck of the Irish at seven.

[00:47:13] Smart house at six.

[00:47:15] Cadet Kelly five.

[00:47:16] Get a clue for motocrossed at three.

[00:47:20] Donnie Thunami at number two and Brink, the greatest movie of all time.

[00:47:23] And number one.

[00:47:24] Yeah.

[00:47:24] Luck of the Irish did get kicked out of my top 10.

[00:47:26] Wow.

[00:47:27] How about that?

[00:47:28] Uh, this land is, is, is not my land.

[00:47:31] Not today.

[00:47:32] Not today.

[00:47:32] It's number 11.

[00:47:33] Luck of the Irish.

[00:47:34] That is man.

[00:47:36] That's big.

[00:47:36] This is a big, big week.

[00:47:38] It's a big deal.

[00:47:39] A lot of movement.

[00:47:40] But I mean, now we're getting to the point.

[00:47:41] Like we've talked about that.

[00:47:42] Like there are good, like I have out of my top 10 Quince, smart house, twas the night,

[00:47:48] all of which I think are good movies.

[00:47:51] Solid, solid, like, and luck of the Irish, the other me, like these are all five of those.

[00:47:56] I thought if you had told me, if you had shown me those five movies, I would, I would say,

[00:48:00] are you showing me the best five D comes?

[00:48:02] So there you have it.

[00:48:03] Um, I have on the right track or right on track, excuse me, uh, at 20 right now.

[00:48:12] Um, I think that everything that Aaron loved about this movie is incredibly valid.

[00:48:17] And then all of that is kind of just, it was the wrong time for me to watch it.

[00:48:21] I didn't need a, for me, a linear hijinks free zaniness free, straightforward, true story retolds

[00:48:31] through Disney lenses for young girls is just, it was wrong place, wrong time for me.

[00:48:35] Um, I have no problem revisiting it.

[00:48:37] Uh, I think Hounded would have hit really well today.

[00:48:40] Hounded would have been great.

[00:48:41] Hounded would have been a great, like Hounded is one on my list.

[00:48:45] Really low.

[00:48:45] Let's see.

[00:48:46] 24, 28, 30.

[00:48:47] Hounded's 32.

[00:48:48] I feel like if I watched Hounded today, probably would have been closer to 22.

[00:48:51] Um, so yeah, uh, right on track was not for me.

[00:48:55] I appreciated the performances and I love the story, but not for me.

[00:48:58] And now you know who Beverly Mitchell is.

[00:48:59] Um, so yeah, I didn't know.

[00:49:00] I'd never seen seventh heaven.

[00:49:01] So cool.

[00:49:02] And she was fine.

[00:49:03] She's not as good as Brie Larson, but she was fine.

[00:49:04] Um, 10 Brink still hanging on there.

[00:49:07] Uh, nine Miracle in lane two, eight Halloween town, seven scream team, six, get a clue, five

[00:49:15] Cadet Kelly, four Phantom of the Megaplex, three Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire, two Johnny

[00:49:19] Tsunami, and one, still the goat, motocrossed.

[00:49:24] That's what I got, Brian.

[00:49:25] Still the goat.

[00:49:26] As inspiring as both and, uh, right on track and motocross were for me growing up, motocross

[00:49:31] is still number one.

[00:49:32] It's a better story.

[00:49:33] Like it's just more, there's, there are some high drinks.

[00:49:36] Yeah.

[00:49:36] I think part of it also is, is like cute boy Todd and that movie is cuter.

[00:49:40] He's a cuter, cute boy.

[00:49:41] He has more, he has more lines and more interaction.

[00:49:44] I didn't for once know the out, like have any doubt about the outcome of watching right

[00:49:49] on track.

[00:49:49] Whereas with motocross, it's like, is she going to learn a valuable personal lesson?

[00:49:54] Is she actually going to win?

[00:49:55] Is she going to be, is she going to win?

[00:49:56] Is the dad going to come around?

[00:49:58] Is the European guy going to be like, there was more things that I, I had a vested interest

[00:50:02] in in that movie too.

[00:50:03] But also I just think it's a really good, uh, metaphorical takedown of the patriarchy.

[00:50:08] So I like that too.

[00:50:09] All right.

[00:50:10] So in four years when we elect a female president, we'll rewatch this movie and get your new take.

[00:50:13] Good.

[00:50:14] I like that.

[00:50:15] Yeah.

[00:50:15] Yeah.

[00:50:15] If that ever happens, we will all get together and watch right on track.

[00:50:18] We'll do a live.

[00:50:19] I love it.

[00:50:20] Live for everyone on YouTube.

[00:50:21] It's great.

[00:50:22] Rewatch of right on track.

[00:50:23] Right on track.

[00:50:24] Um, next week is the even Stevens movie.

[00:50:29] Shia.

[00:50:30] Shia.

[00:50:31] I'm, I, I'm excited to see.

[00:50:32] And Christy Carlson Romano.

[00:50:34] Of course.

[00:50:35] I'm excited to see what you think about it, Dan, as someone who's never seen the show.

[00:50:41] I mean.

[00:50:42] Sure.

[00:50:42] It'll go well.

[00:50:43] I feel like it's standalone enough, but I could be wrong.

[00:50:47] Uh, I think you would just need to understand that there are a family and a siblings fight.

[00:50:50] I think I can get there.
