[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.

[00:00:15] Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Oh, boy.

[00:00:17] Hello, everybody. Welcome to another episode of the DCOM Descendants.

[00:00:20] I'm Brann. Aaron.

[00:00:23] So which is it, Brann?

[00:00:24] Are you introducing all of us now?

[00:00:26] I was just going to go down a line.

[00:00:27] I'm Brann, Aaron, Dan.

[00:00:30] She's always trying to take over.

[00:00:31] All right. Let's do it.

[00:00:32] Let's do it the way you guys want to.

[00:00:33] And just like,

[00:00:36] Hi, I'm Brann. Oh, boy.

[00:00:38] I'm Brann. I'm Aaron.

[00:00:40] And I'm Dan.

[00:00:40] That didn't feel right. It felt better.

[00:00:43] I'm Brann, Aaron.

[00:00:45] That's Dan. That's right. Hi.

[00:00:47] That feels good.

[00:00:48] It does feel great.

[00:00:50] Yeah. So this is Aaron's fault is what you're saying.

[00:00:54] I just feel like we normally introduce ourselves.

[00:00:56] We do. We do.

[00:00:57] Aaron is not wrong.

[00:00:59] Aaron, we're not gaslighting you here.

[00:01:01] I'm not. Brann is. I'm not.

[00:01:03] I just, you know, I just sometimes I like to try new things.

[00:01:06] Yeah. Great.

[00:01:08] You're right. I slept through show prep, so that's not me.

[00:01:11] Hi, everybody. Welcome.

[00:01:12] I'm Aaron. I'm Brann.

[00:01:13] It's great to be here.

[00:01:14] Deck the hallmark.

[00:01:16] Uh, guys, we are we're trying to get to, if you remember,

[00:01:20] a hundred a hundred reviews over on the Apple podcast.

[00:01:23] We're at ninety nine. We're at sixty seven.

[00:01:25] Oh, OK. Which is up.

[00:01:27] We went up. Which is up.

[00:01:28] Four from the last time.

[00:01:29] Was it sixty three?

[00:01:30] Yeah, you're right.

[00:01:31] That was at sixty six.

[00:01:32] So your math is better than mine.

[00:01:33] Man, I'm hoping I was sixty three.

[00:01:36] I don't remember.

[00:01:38] We got four more reviews, Brann.

[00:01:39] Are they all positive?

[00:01:40] Any any there's no Tangerine thirty four or a long one.

[00:01:44] OK. How long did it take me to know what DCOM stands for?

[00:01:48] Too long is the answer.

[00:01:50] But growing up without Kerr, Kerr, and a rural in the area.

[00:01:53] Sorry, no channel number.

[00:01:54] They have certified.

[00:01:56] I never watched the Disney Channel.

[00:01:58] Plus, I am on boarding on OAP old aged person status.

[00:02:03] Despite all the above, I love this podcast.

[00:02:07] Aaron and Dan having background conversation while Brann tries to recap

[00:02:10] the movie is quite possibly my favorite thing from any podcast ever in the universe.

[00:02:15] See, there you go.

[00:02:16] I think the reviews are in.

[00:02:17] I want to try out many of Aaron's delicious recipes

[00:02:21] that have been varying degrees of relation to the movies.

[00:02:24] I still have not watched a DCOM, but I'm considering Johnny Tsunami

[00:02:28] based on Dan's rating.

[00:02:30] OK, well, that's interesting.

[00:02:32] As my movie opinions often mirror Dan, I really like Tangerine.

[00:02:35] So to recap, I'm getting old.

[00:02:38] My parents made me live without cable.

[00:02:40] Dan has the best opinions.

[00:02:41] Did you write? Did I write this review?

[00:02:45] Many maybe and you really should listen to this podcast

[00:02:50] if you love these movies or even if you've never

[00:02:54] if you never knew they existed.

[00:02:56] Well, first of all, Tangerine 34. Thank you so much.

[00:02:58] You're the best. Yeah, really was.

[00:03:01] Dan and I won't stop having side conversations.

[00:03:03] We weren't planning to it.

[00:03:05] The reviews were bad.

[00:03:05] It felt so personal to you, though.

[00:03:08] It really did.

[00:03:09] And I will say this.

[00:03:10] I would pump the brakes a little like Johnny Tsunami

[00:03:13] relative to the other ones.

[00:03:15] So don't go in thinking we're getting you should watch it.

[00:03:18] Well, I think Tangerine was saying like if they're going to watch any DCOM,

[00:03:21] yes, they'll watch Johnny Tangerine 34.

[00:03:24] Good looking out there. I appreciate it.

[00:03:26] And you're looking out.

[00:03:27] That's it, I think.

[00:03:29] Did we read LC LC 823 from last week?

[00:03:33] Gosh, I don't think so.

[00:03:34] OK, OK. The best DCOM podcast for sure. For sure.

[00:03:39] Because I definitely need an excuse to rewatch the DCOMs

[00:03:41] from my childhood.

[00:03:41] DCOM descendants is the perfect way to start a Friday.

[00:03:43] Nashville, Tennessee, Channel 20. Let's go. All right.

[00:03:46] I think what people are saying is we got something pretty special

[00:03:51] going on here. Wow.

[00:03:53] Share it with the share with your friends.

[00:03:54] Share it with your friends.

[00:03:55] Let's go and put a five star rating on their phone.

[00:03:58] We're going to do a blitz today, everybody.

[00:04:00] A blitz? Everybody right now.

[00:04:02] Everybody share this podcast with three of your favorite people.

[00:04:07] What happens if you all share it with you?

[00:04:09] If you're watching and then they share it with three.

[00:04:12] And then by this time, everyone in the world will be listening.

[00:04:15] And here's the thing, everybody in the world,

[00:04:18] if we look at the stats and we don't see a boost

[00:04:23] in the rip girls episode, there's going to be people

[00:04:26] there's going to be hell to pay next.

[00:04:27] Because you didn't take the blitz seriously.

[00:04:28] You didn't take the blitz seriously.

[00:04:30] And you don't know what you don't know is

[00:04:33] as we have actually figured out a way to track to monitor,

[00:04:38] to track those when one person who did share it with three

[00:04:42] and got the three people to listen is going to win something pretty big.

[00:04:45] Probably an electric car.

[00:04:46] Probably an electric car.

[00:04:48] It won't write it off.

[00:04:48] We get to keep the tax credit.

[00:04:50] We're going to give it away. That's right.

[00:04:52] Yeah. But 100, 100.

[00:04:53] And if you get your three friends to listen

[00:04:55] and to buy you an electric car, then you have three electric cars.

[00:04:58] And then think about them by them.

[00:05:00] Wow. And then you said the planet.

[00:05:02] It's unbelievable.

[00:05:03] But don't do the cyber.

[00:05:04] I hear the best DECOM podcast and save the planet in one blitz.

[00:05:08] Think the cyber trucks having problems.

[00:05:10] Yeah, I would recall.

[00:05:12] I would say clear that anyway.

[00:05:14] I got a leaf and I love that.

[00:05:16] So you got a leaf.

[00:05:18] I had a question and it is this.

[00:05:22] Yeah, this blitz that you're talking about.

[00:05:25] When you say we're going to monitor it.

[00:05:27] Yeah, we have the tech.

[00:05:28] We do have the tech so we can know after this episode airs,

[00:05:32] if we don't see an immediate spike, we'll know that people didn't immediately.

[00:05:36] Yeah, is what you're we have access to the who we know when everyone's listening

[00:05:39] at the who, what, when we're like our own Patriot Act in a sense.

[00:05:43] Yeah. OK. Cool.

[00:05:44] We're not going to abuse it.

[00:05:46] No, we would just to give away a lot of cars.

[00:05:47] Yeah, we are. You can trust us.

[00:05:50] It's really a tax umbrella for us.

[00:05:52] We think about it that way.

[00:05:53] But a hundred reviews by episode 20.

[00:05:55] Is that the goal? Is that what we have?

[00:05:56] That's the goal.

[00:05:57] And I think we only got like three episodes left.

[00:05:59] Oh, no, it's because it's tight.

[00:06:01] This is our 15th movie.

[00:06:03] It's got to have five more left.

[00:06:04] OK, great. I couldn't.

[00:06:05] I didn't know. I think we have five more left.

[00:06:07] But still, we're going to need you to really get on your horse and and

[00:06:11] and go and this one is number 16.

[00:06:14] Yeah, number 60. This is 16.

[00:06:16] Still missing one in my list because I put it on my list.

[00:06:18] That's embarrassing. Yeah, I got.

[00:06:20] Yes, super embarrassing.

[00:06:21] Make 15 or did you have 15 when you added this?

[00:06:24] It made 15, I believe.

[00:06:26] I'm looking now.

[00:06:27] I it's 16.

[00:06:28] So we have four. Is that how it works?

[00:06:30] So episode 17, 18. Yeah, four.

[00:06:34] You know, sometimes I get a little screwy when it comes to like.

[00:06:36] Yeah, I have 16 on my list.

[00:06:38] Yeah, you'll get there, bud.

[00:06:39] You'll love and 12 13, 14.

[00:06:42] You don't have a 15.

[00:06:44] That's interesting.

[00:06:45] Well, we'll figure that out at some point, Dan.

[00:06:48] We'll also figure out what today's delicious is.

[00:06:51] What is this?

[00:06:52] It's the segment that we're in now.

[00:06:54] I can do I literally tried my finger.

[00:06:57] But my thumb printed. See what happens on Aaron's phone.

[00:06:59] Aaron, we got another beverage in front of us today.

[00:07:04] And after last week's sweet, sweet fun time.

[00:07:08] What it was like chocolate.

[00:07:13] Chocolate something.

[00:07:14] OK. Orange wasn't there.

[00:07:16] Orange liqueur in the banana.

[00:07:18] Banana. That's right. Yeah.

[00:07:20] What do we got today?

[00:07:22] So today we have a Hawaiian mimosa in honor of the rip.

[00:07:26] In honor of the referrals in for sure Hawaii and not at all Australia.

[00:07:31] At the end of the movie, there is a crucial part of the movie

[00:07:34] is that Sydney has to decide whether to keep or sell some land on the island.

[00:07:39] And then they toast with sparkling apple juice at the end.

[00:07:43] I figured we're all adults here.

[00:07:44] We can use actual champagne.

[00:07:47] There is a splash of coconut rum and pineapple in here and Hawaiian mimosa,

[00:07:52] which I think I'm the only one.

[00:07:54] So it's so it's champagne, champagne, champagne,

[00:07:57] a splash of coconut rum, coconut rum and then a splash of pineapple.

[00:08:01] All right. Delicious.

[00:08:09] I mean, it does taste like you're on an island.

[00:08:14] It does taste like that.

[00:08:16] It's definitely too sweet for me.

[00:08:18] Yeah, I'm a big fan.

[00:08:19] That was so good.

[00:08:20] Never been so freaking happy to live landlocked.

[00:08:23] I'll take yours. Yeah, please.

[00:08:24] I'm so thankful for you.

[00:08:26] I want you to hear that.

[00:08:29] I didn't know you didn't like pineapple and I learned that and I will.

[00:08:31] You don't like pineapple or coconut.

[00:08:34] I freaking champagne pineapple just to eat and then coconut.

[00:08:38] Also big fan, but too much sweet, too much sweet, too much sweet.

[00:08:44] Somehow, Ali Cat strike not on my list, even though I ranked it last week.

[00:08:47] Oh, that's interesting.

[00:08:48] OK, I'm glad you figured that out.

[00:08:52] Does anybody remember?

[00:08:53] That's it, huh?

[00:08:54] So that's it for you.

[00:08:55] Just the three ingredients and you whip it up and you throw it in there.

[00:08:58] That's delicious about that. I love that.

[00:09:00] Yeah, it was nice and simple, delicious.

[00:09:02] If you would like to feel like you are on an island

[00:09:04] while you watch this movie or watch this review,

[00:09:06] it does feel very tropical, very tropical, so tropical.

[00:09:10] Whip that up because we're taking a break.

[00:09:13] When we come back, we're talking rip girls,

[00:09:16] ripped girls here on

[00:09:19] the company's descendants.

[00:09:30] So all you rip girls and boys and boys,

[00:09:34] all you rip kids out there, lads,

[00:09:38] rip, rip lads, the X lads.

[00:09:42] It is great to be here today on this year, Friday,

[00:09:45] talking about rip girls making our way through the DCOM

[00:09:51] discography, filmography, happy May Day, you guys, by the way.

[00:09:55] It's kind of my bar.

[00:09:57] And it is currently my current man.

[00:10:01] There you go.

[00:10:02] Rip girls, April 20 seconds.

[00:10:05] We actually watched it on April 23rd.

[00:10:09] We celebrated the 24th anniversary, 24th anniversary of watching it.

[00:10:13] Yes. And that was very intentional.

[00:10:17] Yes, we do it.

[00:10:18] We like we actually planned.

[00:10:19] We planned the launch of the show.

[00:10:21] Remember, we pushed the launch back a week.

[00:10:23] That's right. We're like, no,

[00:10:24] because we wanted to hear a lot of these movies came out in April.

[00:10:27] So it's tough.

[00:10:28] It's tough for us.

[00:10:29] Yeah. Surprise.

[00:10:31] Eight episodes are coming out.

[00:10:32] Eight episodes.

[00:10:34] It's a blitz.

[00:10:35] It's a blitz.

[00:10:37] That's a blitz. Yeah.

[00:10:39] Sent to three people, that's all we're saying.

[00:10:41] It's a three person blitz.

[00:10:43] You can do that directed by Joyce Chopra.

[00:10:47] I don't think I've seen that name yet in the DCOM.

[00:10:49] I guess would be Chopra there. Chopra Chopra.

[00:10:52] I'm going Chopra. OK.

[00:10:53] That's fine. It's spelled the same way as Priyanka.

[00:10:55] Yeah. Oh, wow.

[00:10:57] Priyanka, a lot of Chopra is out there.

[00:10:59] Yeah. How do you know what what sound the omics?

[00:11:03] I think from experience hearing it.

[00:11:06] But like, you know, how do you know when it's a Cho

[00:11:10] I think it depends on the language of origin and just like

[00:11:12] how people pronounce their names.

[00:11:13] Yeah, I did. Yeah.

[00:11:14] It's just an American. It's an American director.

[00:11:17] Yeah. If I don't know, I usually will do a quick Google

[00:11:20] and try to find an interview or something with the person

[00:11:22] where they introduce you.

[00:11:24] So good at your job.

[00:11:25] I just try to be respectful.

[00:11:27] You just try to treat people just like treat people like their people.

[00:11:30] Yeah, whatever their preferred name or pronoun is.

[00:11:33] I think try to use those.

[00:11:35] I think my thing with names is even after hearing them, I mess it up.

[00:11:40] And so it's not going to put any more work into it than you have

[00:11:43] because I'm going to mess it up regardless.

[00:11:45] Let's mess it up the authentic way.

[00:11:47] A lot going on.

[00:11:49] Guys, letters are so confusing.

[00:11:52] Starring Camilla Bell, Academy Award winning and Dwyer Brown.

[00:11:58] Yeah. With an eye. Not Camila Cabello.

[00:12:00] No, no. Very different.

[00:12:02] So the movie kicks off and I knew just the names.

[00:12:05] Is it really Camila Cabello?

[00:12:07] Is it really there's no hard L in there?

[00:12:09] Who? What we're talking about? The singer.

[00:12:11] Oh, Camila Camila.

[00:12:13] Camila Cabello.

[00:12:14] I think that's how she says it right on.

[00:12:16] Learn something new.

[00:12:18] Um, Sidney is our main character and she is with her family.

[00:12:24] What?

[00:12:25] Lord, that's side me. Side me.

[00:12:31] Y'all y'all are sorry.

[00:12:34] So mean. You're mean.

[00:12:37] You're nice to the people's names you don't even know.

[00:12:40] Mean the little old brand who you've known for years.

[00:12:44] Sidney is going back to Hawaii for the first time.

[00:12:49] She's on a plane with her family.

[00:12:51] For the first time since she lived there.

[00:12:52] Yes, she used to live there a long time ago, hasn't been back.

[00:12:57] And she moved away after her mom died.

[00:13:02] All right. You might be you might be wondering.

[00:13:04] She's a rib girl.

[00:13:05] You might be wondering how did mom die?

[00:13:08] We don't know.

[00:13:09] Shirley, Sidney knows she doesn't.

[00:13:12] Is will will mom be back as ghost mom?

[00:13:16] We don't know. We don't know.

[00:13:17] Some of us did know.

[00:13:19] Some of us don't, though, is what I'm saying.

[00:13:22] They let you know how we got there, though.

[00:13:24] Right, Aaron? Like if you had never seen this before.

[00:13:27] Oh, for sure. OK.

[00:13:29] There is a lot leading up to she is going to have some sort of encounter

[00:13:32] with the spirit of her mother.

[00:13:36] So I mean, that cat is doing a lot of work.

[00:13:38] Cats doing a ton of work.

[00:13:40] So many. You're telling me that you're telling me that cat will get to it.

[00:13:44] She has a lot of plot to get to the highest paid actor on that set.

[00:13:49] They got they got Salem from Sabrina Teenage Witch.

[00:13:51] Yeah, yeah.

[00:13:52] The cat from Sabrina Teenage Witch and Salem doesn't come for nothing.

[00:13:58] Got to pay that cat.

[00:14:00] Well, Hocus Pocus, Salem, same cat.

[00:14:03] Wow. Good actor that that's the cat rules.

[00:14:07] Yeah.

[00:14:09] So they land there and they get to the house

[00:14:12] and we see someone watching them with binoculars.

[00:14:16] Burnoculars, binoculars.

[00:14:18] How many my burnoculars from the bushes from the bush?

[00:14:22] How many in burnoculars?

[00:14:24] I'm going to throw an R in there.

[00:14:25] It's for fun.

[00:14:26] They're burnoculars because you check out birds.

[00:14:29] OK. Bird bird bird.

[00:14:33] It's not a bad name.

[00:14:34] Not a bad name. Right.

[00:14:35] That double decker of the week.

[00:14:36] Yeah. Bird noculars.

[00:14:38] Bird noculars.

[00:14:39] Well, if I just text Brian, no, no, right at that.

[00:14:42] Yeah. Tell him just just bird noculars.

[00:14:45] Ask me later.

[00:14:48] So Sydney begins to roam the island,

[00:14:52] taking pictures of I would best describe them as rip girls personally.

[00:14:58] There's a few rip lads out there.

[00:14:59] Yeah, there's a few rip lads.

[00:15:01] Surfers.

[00:15:02] They're surfers.

[00:15:03] So we're trying to layman's terms that are say rip girls.

[00:15:06] Hip with the lingo, the rip lingo.

[00:15:09] Bird noculars.

[00:15:10] So an attorney shows up late, obviously, because he had to hang ten.

[00:15:16] I mean, when the waves are waving, the waves are calling.

[00:15:18] Waves are waving.

[00:15:19] They're waving. They're waving.

[00:15:20] They're saying, come here.

[00:15:22] How they do things in Hawaii.

[00:15:23] That's right. That would drive me nuts.

[00:15:25] If if the way you do things is we have a time set for something

[00:15:29] and then you just decide if the waves are calling you or not on your way over.

[00:15:33] Right. Well, I mean, he was only like

[00:15:36] five minutes late, so I think that's OK.

[00:15:38] So the waves called him just a little bit extra.

[00:15:40] Blowing the whole meeting off for waves.

[00:15:42] I'm a little annoyed.

[00:15:43] But if he's walking in, it's like, well, waves. Whatever.

[00:15:45] Yeah. Yeah, whatever.

[00:15:46] And honestly, kudos to him for being honest about it.

[00:15:48] Some of us five minutes late just just cause.

[00:15:51] And so you could have made it up.

[00:15:52] You know, traffic.

[00:15:53] You could have said, oh, the coffee line, whatever.

[00:15:55] No, you just said the waves are calling.

[00:15:57] Waves are calling. I was on my way and those waves are waving.

[00:15:59] He informs the family that this is their their house, their estate.

[00:16:05] And Grandma.

[00:16:09] Once Mom died, Grandma.

[00:16:11] I don't know. Anyway, Grandma's dead now.

[00:16:13] And so now it goes to sit me and I thought about the last living heir

[00:16:18] of this property.

[00:16:19] Yes. Grandma has died.

[00:16:20] That is the one sentence explanation of Mom. Grandma.

[00:16:25] Grandma. Yes.

[00:16:26] I think I'm dying a decade ago. Grandma just died.

[00:16:29] Everybody knows these rules, but I'll say it out loud.

[00:16:33] OK, once it happens, you need to stay on there.

[00:16:36] The land for two weeks and then it's an obvious

[00:16:40] stay on their two weeks.

[00:16:41] It's a two weeks to it.

[00:16:43] It's in like that specific will.

[00:16:45] It's not all of Hawaii.

[00:16:47] Wanla. Oh, that's why my is like everyone I've ever known

[00:16:51] that this has happened to has to two week.

[00:16:53] Of course, I think it's a two week rule.

[00:16:55] And if you leave early, then you forfeit it all.

[00:16:58] You forfeit. Because you can't leave to go.

[00:17:00] It's a it's a hand on the car.

[00:17:01] Last one to take it off wins its situation.

[00:17:04] Yeah, if this was a Hallmark movie, we'd find out that her high school

[00:17:07] sweetheart inherited the other half of the land and they split it down.

[00:17:11] Grandma left two 13 year olds, right?

[00:17:14] Half of a multimillion dollar resort.

[00:17:18] Figure it out, kids.

[00:17:19] But grandma is very much like the grandma in Moana

[00:17:22] and that she keeps pushing.

[00:17:24] That's the whole thing is that she wants to stay two weeks

[00:17:27] because if she stayed two weeks, she's like she's going to discover

[00:17:29] her love of the ocean and remember her mom.

[00:17:32] And the ocean is going to call her blah, blah, blah.

[00:17:34] Disney bar from Disney is a dirty trick.

[00:17:36] It's a dirty trick.

[00:17:37] Her dad is like, well, maybe we should sell the place.

[00:17:40] Does find out that there is some interest in people buying it.

[00:17:44] The attorney is not super like pumped about that idea,

[00:17:47] but it's not really his job to say whether or not that

[00:17:51] like they're allowed to explore that they can explore if they want to.

[00:17:54] But you just put it out there.

[00:17:55] Tells him about the deal.

[00:17:56] Yes. Like, yeah, you can tell us not.

[00:17:58] This is an option, but yeah, this land is your land.

[00:18:01] Thrilled.

[00:18:03] Sydney, almost as if she's drawn to it, finds an old photo album.

[00:18:08] I'm not saying there was any sort of force.

[00:18:10] Mom of a ghost mom opened that door.

[00:18:13] Yes. But she does find an old photo inside of it is a photo of her mom,

[00:18:18] which is when we find out that maybe dad has not been so honest

[00:18:22] because she's like, oh, is that mom?

[00:18:24] Yeah. And you think that maybe you would have seen a photo?

[00:18:27] It is very much like white dad has kept Hawaiian mom from.

[00:18:33] Calf mixed child.

[00:18:35] Yes, that too.

[00:18:36] It doesn't it doesn't this movie doesn't age well in that regard,

[00:18:39] but I think that would have been just as bad in 2000 as it is now.

[00:18:43] Like this dad not really talking about.

[00:18:48] This girl's mom to her at all over the course of her young childhood

[00:18:53] into tween to teen like, yeah, that's not great.

[00:18:57] And I didn't hear an exact dad is remarried.

[00:19:00] We have stepmom, stepmom Elizabeth.

[00:19:02] Stepmom. Right.

[00:19:04] It sounds like they got remarried pretty quick.

[00:19:09] Oh, so you think there's some maybe some potential foul play here?

[00:19:12] No. So what you're saying is, is he cheated on dead?

[00:19:15] No, all I'm saying is he pretty much like

[00:19:19] brush any memories or stories or anything about.

[00:19:24] And took it.

[00:19:26] Yes. So did white dad.

[00:19:28] I'm trying to make. Yes, I'm just saying he's a colonizer.

[00:19:32] It will listen.

[00:19:33] He has gotten away from me if and this is a big if if I,

[00:19:39] you know, had an affair, if I had an affair and then killed my wife,

[00:19:44] I'd probably keep all of that information and any pictures of her

[00:19:47] away from my kid too.

[00:19:48] That's right. Don't ask any questions.

[00:19:50] I killed her. That's right.

[00:19:51] So like, I don't want to bring it up.

[00:19:53] That is that I can see how he got there if that's what happened.

[00:19:57] Yeah. I never thought of a tricky situation.

[00:20:00] Situations were dead.

[00:20:01] Wife's mom leaves your kids an island basically.

[00:20:04] What are you going to do? Yeah, you're in a tough spot.

[00:20:06] You're in a tough spot. Yeah.

[00:20:08] You assume so before you kill your wife, you should find out

[00:20:11] if she has any any landholding somewhere.

[00:20:13] That's really good. That's really good advice there.

[00:20:16] You always probably want to check all that.

[00:20:18] That's really good for you.

[00:20:20] Murder your spouse.

[00:20:21] Hey, Caitlin, if you're listening and you go missing, I will know who did it.

[00:20:26] Well, and here's the but here's that's the thing.

[00:20:28] You don't know about her land.

[00:20:31] She's got it's my land.

[00:20:33] Is your land is mine.

[00:20:34] I just think people come to this podcast for the talk about the movies.

[00:20:39] But you do they you stay, I believe, for the murder advice.

[00:20:44] I think so. I get away from.

[00:20:45] Well, we've gone through tax advice.

[00:20:47] I will say this based upon acting alone.

[00:20:49] There's numerous people in this movie that need to be murdered.

[00:20:51] I like but but but far down.

[00:20:56] OK, all right. Sorry. Sorry.

[00:20:58] I didn't name any names. It could be any of the cast.

[00:21:01] You want to kill the cat?

[00:21:03] No, the cat is a star.

[00:21:04] I think we know that.

[00:21:06] I was going on a list.

[00:21:07] Dad, we could start with anyone who doesn't have a photo on IMTB.

[00:21:11] Oh, my gosh. Wow.

[00:21:12] Not to kill, but if Dan was looking for volunteers. Yeah.

[00:21:17] To be killed.

[00:21:19] I need to kill some people, but I don't want to do it against their

[00:21:21] their own volition like if they were to volunteer. Yeah.

[00:21:25] Well, I'm a volunteer only murderer.

[00:21:27] It's I think that's pretty clear.

[00:21:29] So see the picture of mom is like, wow, that's my mom.

[00:21:33] This is so crazy.

[00:21:34] I've never seen her before. This is nuts.

[00:21:36] The next day, this as we've mentioned, random cats

[00:21:41] leads Sydney again, almost as if the cat is potentially possessed

[00:21:46] by a ghost mom to an old barn out in the field.

[00:21:50] We're not saying ghost mom, we're just saying it could be probably go

[00:21:54] for any reason, probably ghost mom.

[00:21:56] Probably that would be the most logical explanation.

[00:21:58] But again, it could be anything.

[00:22:00] It could be that this cat just really likes the barn

[00:22:06] and the cat brings brings her to this barn and inside the barn,

[00:22:09] she finds a surfboard with his name on it and fantastic condition.

[00:22:15] So she snags that surfboard and is walking with it

[00:22:18] and she bumps into a girl on her bike.

[00:22:22] Right. Her name is Gia.

[00:22:24] Gia likes to surf and says, hey, you should come and surf with me

[00:22:29] and my fellow rip girls later.

[00:22:33] And fellow rip girl.

[00:22:36] Well, I see you at the at the waves later where we rip.

[00:22:39] Where we rip so good.

[00:22:41] And so Sydney's like, I love that idea.

[00:22:44] And obviously Gia is like, this is a fellow rip girl.

[00:22:48] A fellow rip girl because she has got to surf in her blood.

[00:22:52] You can you can tell.

[00:22:53] Well, she's carrying the surfboard and you're in Hawaii.

[00:22:56] So so Sydney's like, hey, that daddy, daddy.

[00:22:59] I I would like to make my way down to the water tomorrow.

[00:23:04] Actually, there's a more fun part that happens before that.

[00:23:07] Dad says we don't miss anything.

[00:23:09] Hey, tomorrow I was thinking, what if we went and found some rocks?

[00:23:14] You could go collect some rocks to bring home.

[00:23:17] And Sydney's not thrilled.

[00:23:19] And stepmom Elizabeth is like, better yet,

[00:23:21] there is an exhibit downtown of handmade quilts we can check out.

[00:23:26] Dad thought he had the worst idea ever.

[00:23:28] And I was here to tell him he did it quilts.

[00:23:32] Honestly, I like the quilt idea a little bit better

[00:23:34] because it sounded like it was in a building with maybe air conditioning

[00:23:37] and not me hiking in a field picking up rocks.

[00:23:41] Rocks maybe still is the worst.

[00:23:42] Those are the two on the table.

[00:23:44] And then Sydney goes, hey, hear me out.

[00:23:46] The good news is, is though dad would be in proximity to kick rocks,

[00:23:50] which he most definitely should.

[00:23:52] Sydney's like, I actually got an even better idea

[00:23:54] that doesn't involve either one of those really weird things

[00:23:57] you guys brought up.

[00:23:59] You guys deserve each other.

[00:24:01] First time in Hawaii.

[00:24:03] This is what we're going to do.

[00:24:03] Yeah. You wouldn't believe the rocks and the quilts.

[00:24:06] I'm going to go with ocean. Yeah.

[00:24:08] Thank you. Thank you very much.

[00:24:09] I would like to go to the ocean.

[00:24:12] Chicago, which is in the middle.

[00:24:14] I mean, it's on the Great Lakes, so that's great.

[00:24:16] But it's not the ocean.

[00:24:18] No. Sydney is like the ocean.

[00:24:20] It calls me.

[00:24:21] It calls me and I want to go hang out with my new girl, Gia,

[00:24:28] Gia and her other fellow girls.

[00:24:30] They're going to be down there.

[00:24:31] And so dad is like, no way.

[00:24:35] And she's like, please.

[00:24:36] And it's like only you can go, but no water.

[00:24:38] And you can only take pictures.

[00:24:40] No. Oh, you can't get in the water.

[00:24:42] You can't drink water.

[00:24:43] No, you can't get in the hydrate yourself.

[00:24:45] No, you have to stay on dry land.

[00:24:48] So Sydney meets the rip girls.

[00:24:50] Reaper.

[00:24:53] No, her mom joins ghost mom.

[00:24:55] Yeah. Sydney meets the words are hard.

[00:24:59] They're tough. The girls and not kill.

[00:25:02] Let me introduce you to a rip boy.

[00:25:04] His name is Kona.

[00:25:05] If I was a girl, you know, Kona and his boys.

[00:25:09] They also love movies filmed in Hawaii.

[00:25:11] And they're like, how do we not filmed in Australia?

[00:25:15] How do we emphasize the fact that we're in Hawaii?

[00:25:17] Let's name the leading guy, Kona, Kona, like the beer,

[00:25:22] the place that like it's the most Hawaiian name possible.

[00:25:26] Yeah, Kona. It's Kona for you.

[00:25:29] Yeah. And this kid is clearly like so.

[00:25:31] Hawaii. And it's a great magic trick because Kona's boys are surfing

[00:25:36] with Gia and the girls.

[00:25:37] But when Sydney joins them, they come down the mountain.

[00:25:42] It's a bank scoring a goal in my next one situation.

[00:25:45] Yeah.

[00:25:47] Erin, I've never noticed it before, but when we were watching it,

[00:25:49] I was like, didn't we just see them in the press?

[00:25:52] Erin, what was 10 year old Aaron's thoughts on Kona?

[00:25:56] Ten year old Aaron's thoughts on Kona were, man,

[00:25:59] I can't wait to inherit a Hawaiian island and meet my Hawaiian boyfriend.

[00:26:04] So it was less about Kona, more about the island.

[00:26:06] No, I mean, the island is a way to Kona.

[00:26:09] Yeah. I mean, 10 year old me did love the idea of inheriting

[00:26:13] a Hawaiian island and I could live on the beach.

[00:26:15] I'm still mad at Johnny Tsunami's parents for moving him from the beach

[00:26:19] to Vermont.

[00:26:20] And then I was like, bonus, it comes with boyfriend.

[00:26:23] Yeah, it comes with Kona.

[00:26:25] So you're just set for life there.

[00:26:26] There you go. Inherit island.

[00:26:28] So you're done.

[00:26:29] Kona is like, hey, I know that you surf and skateboards.

[00:26:35] Yeah. Well, he has a cat, so he can't surf right now.

[00:26:37] Could he be more 2000s?

[00:26:38] Yeah, he's awesome. So cool.

[00:26:41] Kona very quickly picks up on the fact that Sydney's not a surfer.

[00:26:45] Like he can pick it up and see it.

[00:26:48] And she very quickly picks up on the fact that he is a poet

[00:26:51] and an artist, and it is wonderful.

[00:26:56] The poetry work for 10 year old Aaron.

[00:27:00] I don't know.

[00:27:00] Now you're asking for her to remember something 20, 20 plus years ago.

[00:27:04] If the poetry was good.

[00:27:06] I mean, it was just the way he was describing the surf.

[00:27:09] Yeah. He's a poet and says he sounded passionate.

[00:27:12] I don't think 10 year old me was like poet.

[00:27:16] So you were 10.

[00:27:19] Do you think you're going to be grilled about this?

[00:27:22] For sure, no.

[00:27:23] Gia, how would 10 year old do you feel about it?

[00:27:27] Ten year old me is fine with this.

[00:27:29] Ten year old me is really excited for us to watch Step Sister

[00:27:32] from Planet Weird because 10 year old Aaron has a lot of thoughts.

[00:27:34] What was 10 year old Aaron's go to snack?

[00:27:40] I mean, a pop tart.

[00:27:42] Dope. For sure.

[00:27:43] It's always been my go to.

[00:27:44] I love that.

[00:27:45] My senior yearbook, we had to submit a photo of baby us

[00:27:48] and there's a photo of me as a toddler just walk around with pop

[00:27:50] tarts in each hand.

[00:27:51] And that was my double fist and pop tarts.

[00:27:53] That's good. That's crazy.

[00:27:56] Or maybe like some sort of fruit roll up.

[00:27:59] Yes. So Gia decides I would like to teach.

[00:28:02] Oh, Dungaroos also shout out.

[00:28:05] Yeah, I don't think they exist anymore.

[00:28:08] They took them away again.

[00:28:10] Again.

[00:28:11] And then they left and came back.

[00:28:14] We could just sell them at the store.

[00:28:16] OK, then they're back.

[00:28:17] Then they're back.

[00:28:18] They came back a couple of years ago.

[00:28:19] I thought they were here.

[00:28:20] OK, then maybe that was it.

[00:28:21] So Gia is going to teach her to serve.

[00:28:23] So despite that montage, which is all my papa's best wishes,

[00:28:27] Sydney gets into the water.

[00:28:30] Papa. Yeah.

[00:28:31] We and Andy Griffith.

[00:28:33] And it's like, OK, I'll learn.

[00:28:35] So now this becomes a thing.

[00:28:37] Sydney is going to keep going back.

[00:28:39] Another section on Daddy Bingo.

[00:28:40] That's right.

[00:28:41] Separate sheet.

[00:28:43] Sydney is going to continue to go back to the water,

[00:28:45] is going to continue to try to learn how to serve.

[00:28:47] She's getting a little bit better.

[00:28:49] She's learning how to stand.

[00:28:51] She's learned how to ride that wave.

[00:28:53] Learn how to be a rip girl.

[00:28:54] She's learning takes time to rip girls into a perfectly the first time

[00:28:58] she gets upset.

[00:28:59] And she is like, you did great for your first time.

[00:29:01] And Sydney's like, I need to master this sport in two weeks.

[00:29:04] That's right. We're leaving.

[00:29:05] I'm leaving.

[00:29:06] Gia does drop some some mad wisdom that could have been used in brink,

[00:29:11] which is like you don't you don't surf for other people.

[00:29:13] That's right. You serve for yourself.

[00:29:15] Yeah. Sydney's afraid to try.

[00:29:17] Surfing in front of all the other people.

[00:29:18] And they're like, no, you serve for you.

[00:29:20] You're a soul surfer, not that soul surfer, not that soul surfer.

[00:29:23] Different soul surfer.

[00:29:25] So one day in the midst of learning to rip,

[00:29:29] Sydney is swept off her.

[00:29:32] She is ripped off of her surfboard.

[00:29:34] That's right. Is then

[00:29:36] the same app under the water.

[00:29:40] And she's now under the water.

[00:29:42] She's more of a save her.

[00:29:44] Gia was right next to her in the water.

[00:29:45] No. Oh, Kona runs down the mountain

[00:29:49] because she was up on top of the mountains.

[00:29:51] He's looking over his land.

[00:29:54] His all of his male provision.

[00:29:57] Yeah, that's right.

[00:29:58] And he's like, Gia clearly seems to be like

[00:30:02] signifying that someone is in trouble, that she could reach with one hand.

[00:30:06] But will not do it.

[00:30:08] Is there a man around that could do it?

[00:30:10] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:30:11] Kona, there is.

[00:30:13] And you might remember time it would mean I would have lost consciousness

[00:30:16] by the time it took Kona to the water.

[00:30:18] Blaine would have lost consciousness.

[00:30:20] I'm pretty sure she is underwater for an hour.

[00:30:23] It is it is time stand still a lot in this movie, but never more than when.

[00:30:27] I mean, Sydney is comfortably underwater.

[00:30:31] Like I.

[00:30:33] It's crazy.

[00:30:33] And in the movie, Kona gets down the mountain pretty quickly.

[00:30:37] But in reality, that would take him home.

[00:30:39] Sydney would be dead.

[00:30:40] Yes. So dead.

[00:30:42] Yeah. Gia just reach over and pull.

[00:30:45] Just just get your girl.

[00:30:46] Help your girl out just a little bit.

[00:30:48] Women supporting women.

[00:30:49] Yeah, right. At least we could do

[00:30:52] so Sydney because she secretly has a crush on Kona.

[00:30:54] Tell me I'm wrong.

[00:30:56] But she needs to be alive.

[00:30:57] I I think Sydney, Kona and Gia all mutually crush.

[00:31:03] There's a love triangle. Oh, sure.

[00:31:05] Oh, yeah. It's a mutual crush.

[00:31:06] Wow. All the way around.

[00:31:07] Yeah. OK. All the way around.

[00:31:09] Interesting.

[00:31:11] And I'm not the only one that's picked up on this.

[00:31:13] This is a letterbox.

[00:31:14] As heavy as heavy on this.

[00:31:17] So she is rescued.

[00:31:21] But she does have a big old just his arm is in a cast.

[00:31:24] Does he care? Absolutely not.

[00:31:25] No, he doesn't.

[00:31:27] He's right in that water to save her.

[00:31:28] Yeah. And does he get the cast removed the next day

[00:31:31] because of mold and mildew?

[00:31:33] You dry it off.

[00:31:34] You dry it off.

[00:31:35] You put a hairdryer to that sucker.

[00:31:38] It's fine.

[00:31:40] Oh, the only time the cast will get wet in the ocean.

[00:31:43] This movie. No brand talking like he's rescued

[00:31:46] half a dozen girls with a cast on under the water.

[00:31:49] Listen, man, we all know for his water.

[00:31:52] I'm known for me and water.

[00:31:54] Yeah, we were and cast and girls.

[00:31:56] All our boys were swimming at the pool and my wife and I were inside

[00:31:59] and you were out there.

[00:32:00] And my wife looked at me and goes, if the boys are going to be in the pool,

[00:32:03] shouldn't it be out there?

[00:32:10] I thought unnecessary.

[00:32:12] And I was like, Bray can get in the water like brains doing better.

[00:32:15] He can get in the water if he needs to.

[00:32:16] And she's like deep.

[00:32:18] She's not.

[00:32:21] None of it was a joke.

[00:32:22] Hey, Sarah, sit in my face, say it to my face.

[00:32:25] She wasn't trying to be mean to you.

[00:32:27] I'm just reporting back to the serious conversation.

[00:32:29] She's never trying to be mean to me.

[00:32:30] And yet somehow she always says also she will never hear this.

[00:32:35] Oh, God.

[00:32:37] So, Caitlin, when you listen, let Sarah know that I've had.

[00:32:41] Sarah's still working her way through all the decked homework episodes.

[00:32:44] She's got about 1200.

[00:32:46] She's still in episode one.

[00:32:48] She's probably less than 100.

[00:32:49] Oh, wow.

[00:32:51] Go Sarah. I know.

[00:32:52] So how did she become the hero in this?

[00:32:57] She was mean to me.

[00:32:58] What the heck?

[00:33:00] I mean, she was asking an honest question.

[00:33:02] It's not it's not honest.

[00:33:04] Before Dan, before that conversation took place,

[00:33:08] she looked at me and she said, oh, we're going to go in

[00:33:10] in the house for a minute. Can you watch the kids?

[00:33:12] I said yes.

[00:33:14] I think the kids weren't in the pool yet.

[00:33:16] They were around the deck and she heard him jump in.

[00:33:19] And she asked me, she would she probably would have appreciated

[00:33:23] me never telling that to you.

[00:33:25] Yeah, well, now I know it was an honest question by her.

[00:33:28] She didn't know how or where you were swimming wise.

[00:33:31] Maybe I won't save the kids.

[00:33:33] You would say I would save the kids.

[00:33:36] I would die, but I would save the kids.

[00:33:38] Save the kids, save the world.

[00:33:39] You're right. I'm better than Gia.

[00:33:42] That's what I'm trying to say.

[00:33:44] That T-shirt is available.

[00:33:45] Yeah, I actually what I said to my wife when she was like,

[00:33:49] should we have a donut?

[00:33:50] I was like, don't worry, Jay is out there.

[00:33:52] We're good.

[00:33:53] If Brian gets too deep, Jay will pull him out.

[00:33:56] Yeah, he's strong.

[00:33:57] He is strong.

[00:33:59] So I think both your kids together could probably like

[00:34:02] drag me out of the pool.

[00:34:03] Gashed had.

[00:34:06] And so she becomes unconscious.

[00:34:09] Sydney hit her head.

[00:34:10] Yes. Yeah, we just call her old gas.

[00:34:12] And.

[00:34:15] Kona saves all Gashed head.

[00:34:17] Yeah, she becomes unconscious.

[00:34:20] She wakes up. She's in some sort of age for sure.

[00:34:24] You know, like.

[00:34:26] Shelter and home.

[00:34:29] Yeah, she's not in a shelter brand,

[00:34:32] but only by the definition of sheltering somewhere underneath something else.

[00:34:36] Yeah, yeah.

[00:34:37] She's not in like a homeless shelter.

[00:34:39] No, no, I'm in shelter.

[00:34:41] I felt like this house was pretty like open sided.

[00:34:44] Like it seemed like it was how Hawaii is, but it didn't seem like

[00:34:49] it didn't seem like it.

[00:34:49] I don't. Yeah, I guess it could have been a house.

[00:34:51] For some reason, I thought that it was like a shelter nearby.

[00:34:54] No, it's G is home.

[00:34:55] OK, great. I love that.

[00:34:57] So you should Google Hawaiian real estate.

[00:35:00] Oh, I see. Very open to.

[00:35:02] I have seen one house and no, no.

[00:35:06] Actually, I've seen two houses, Jonathan Ami and this movie.

[00:35:09] This is Australia. That's true.

[00:35:11] That's that's doesn't count cinema.

[00:35:13] None of this was filmed in Hawaii.

[00:35:15] Do you think Sydney's name Sydney as like a nod to Australia?

[00:35:18] Oh, yeah, probably.

[00:35:20] So it was Honolulu.

[00:35:23] You mean Gash? Yeah, I'm talking about Gash.

[00:35:27] Her mom, she is mom because Sydney's mom is dead.

[00:35:30] Gia's mom gives her magic juice and she's like touch signs.

[00:35:36] It's like four ounces of could be anything.

[00:35:39] I think it's tea, but it could be anything.

[00:35:42] Sure. We don't know.

[00:35:43] We don't know.

[00:35:46] That's saying it's tea like you were there.

[00:35:49] Maybe we find out that Gia's mom knew very well Sydney's mom.

[00:35:55] They were very good friends.

[00:35:57] Best friends, you might say, such good friends that when you hear

[00:36:01] original rip girls, when you hear your dead best friends,

[00:36:05] daughter is coming to town.

[00:36:07] You go into the woods and you spawn that was born with a barnocular

[00:36:10] bird.

[00:36:12] Because that's what she did.

[00:36:13] It was her in the woods with the binoculars.

[00:36:17] Conservatory with it.

[00:36:18] Yes, and so best friend in the woods with the bird

[00:36:23] dockers brings her back to her house.

[00:36:27] Dad is like a decom monopoly board.

[00:36:30] Not a bad idea.

[00:36:31] You mean clue board?

[00:36:33] You want to do it? Yeah, clue.

[00:36:34] I like it. I like both of those ideas.

[00:36:37] So brings her back to her house.

[00:36:39] Sydney's dad is mad, obviously.

[00:36:43] Oh, of course he is.

[00:36:43] And then all day, but gone all day.

[00:36:46] You know, they turned the lights off.

[00:36:48] They'd give it up.

[00:36:49] Yeah, they turn all the lights off.

[00:36:51] And the house has no lights.

[00:36:53] Yeah, there's no overhead lights.

[00:36:54] That's the only thing about a white real estate.

[00:36:55] That's the thing.

[00:36:56] And that's what he find.

[00:36:58] I level and below.

[00:36:59] Yeah, no overhead light.

[00:37:00] It's like they put all of their investment into natural light

[00:37:03] and forgot about when it gets dark.

[00:37:05] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:37:06] And they happen to film all the scenes in the house at night.

[00:37:09] It's really interesting.

[00:37:10] It's up right there. Yeah.

[00:37:11] So she said her dad's like, go to your room.

[00:37:15] Obviously, she's being dragged to a room by the stepmom.

[00:37:17] She is what she wants to listen in on this.

[00:37:20] So she is mom is talking to her dad and is like,

[00:37:24] how have you not told her blah, blah, blah, doing all this stuff?

[00:37:27] And obviously, Sydney's overhearing all of this.

[00:37:30] Yes, it's serious stuff.

[00:37:32] So the dad is blaming her for the accident and the mom's like,

[00:37:36] I wasn't even there. And he's like, yeah, of course you were there

[00:37:38] like cheering her on and, you know, clearly they have years of

[00:37:44] yeah, some tension and some issues to work through.

[00:37:47] Obviously, and it's the first time Sydney's heard

[00:37:50] and has heard any sort of truth about her mom.

[00:37:53] Obviously, she's never going to see her again,

[00:37:56] except she does see her again, takes her to a place where whales are.

[00:38:00] It's like, hey, look at the beauty of Hawaii.

[00:38:02] Whales are pretty cool, aren't they?

[00:38:05] We're not going to we're definitely not going to see a whale

[00:38:07] when they're like migrating and stuff like that.

[00:38:09] They stop by. Yeah.

[00:38:11] And so the way I think for you, it's not migration season.

[00:38:13] We're not going to see any whales in this movie.

[00:38:15] We're not going to see a whale. No whales.

[00:38:16] Yes. Thank God. I can see a whale.

[00:38:20] Then her friends bring her to a late night.

[00:38:24] Whales and ghosts.

[00:38:25] Mm hmm. That's I think you can see Ghost Mom in this movie

[00:38:29] if you look hard enough.

[00:38:32] And she learns from Gia's or Gia or Gia's mom.

[00:38:38] I don't know. She finds out like that her mom died in the water.

[00:38:41] Gia's mom tells her the story that does not doesn't come from Dad.

[00:38:45] Yeah, yeah.

[00:38:45] Dad still not opened up doing his thing at all.

[00:38:50] Yeah. Yes.

[00:38:51] During this time, there is a real estate agent.

[00:38:54] Yes. I was just about to get there.

[00:38:55] Yes. Who are big on selling the property.

[00:38:58] Yes. And they have a new offer that is like a really good offer.

[00:39:02] Yeah, they had a first offer.

[00:39:04] Sydney and her family brought up a lot of concerns about

[00:39:07] preserving the lagoon and the natural resources of the island.

[00:39:12] All this like, you know, recycling, water preservation.

[00:39:15] All the good stuff. Right. Yeah.

[00:39:17] So this is great.

[00:39:19] We got we got a resort that all, you know, people can come and visit,

[00:39:23] but it will still showcase all the natural beauty.

[00:39:26] They're going to do the help. The island. That's great.

[00:39:28] Every demand that sitting or family had, the resort said, sure.

[00:39:31] What could go wrong?

[00:39:32] We're going to run big business never lies.

[00:39:35] That night, Sydney is brought to a luau

[00:39:39] and Sydney's watches the dancing,

[00:39:43] watches a story being told, kisses Kona,

[00:39:48] Kona so sweetly interprets the Hawaiian story.

[00:39:51] That's in her ear.

[00:39:53] And then she turns and they have a whole.

[00:39:55] Oh, I forgot I was so close to you.

[00:39:57] Oh, my God. Very awkward kiss.

[00:39:58] And then we see in my head, I thought they were not.

[00:40:01] I thought they had like gone off somewhere to look at the water and kissed.

[00:40:05] I did not realize it was just right in the middle of the world.

[00:40:07] I will say this. It is a classic awkward 13 year old kids.

[00:40:11] Like it is that is like perfectly awkward.

[00:40:14] That is exactly what that would be like.

[00:40:16] But yeah, then we see whales. It looks like a ton of fun.

[00:40:19] We see CGI whales, CGI whales.

[00:40:22] Sorry, we see you're claiming those whales weren't real.

[00:40:27] No, you're right. Who do you think you are?

[00:40:29] No, you're right. No, the whales.

[00:40:31] We caught them at the right time.

[00:40:33] They were they said, oh, the camera for us.

[00:40:35] You don't like nature shows that was made by a computer.

[00:40:38] I'm sorry. Sorry.

[00:40:40] Yeah. So what that you could see through the whale.

[00:40:42] It's not there was a translucent whale.

[00:40:46] You heard of them. Well, it depends on the season.

[00:40:49] At night at night. Yeah.

[00:40:51] So as they're watching the whales, this is when Sydney turns to Gia's mom

[00:40:55] and says you were there, weren't you?

[00:40:57] And Gia's mom fills her in on all the details of her mother's accident.

[00:41:01] All the deets. That's right.

[00:41:02] Still not from dad. Thanks, Dad, for nothing.

[00:41:04] That has had 13 years of time.

[00:41:08] And I would say even if you're going to keep it a secret,

[00:41:10] once you get back to Hawaii, you you pretty much

[00:41:13] got a conversation with your child.

[00:41:16] So the next day, an article is published

[00:41:20] that a resort is being brought in and all this stuff.

[00:41:25] And so everyone's mad.

[00:41:26] They know that Sydney and her family are going to sell to this resort

[00:41:29] is going to ruin.

[00:41:31] And they're really worried about the whales.

[00:41:33] It's great journalism because it doesn't say proposed resort.

[00:41:37] It says resort coming to Makai.

[00:41:39] And I do hate that the resort is coming to Makai,

[00:41:42] but I do love the fact that it gave us the acting showcase that we got from it.

[00:41:47] All the people being mad at Sydney.

[00:41:49] No one will talk to her.

[00:41:50] They are just, oh, it's iconic.

[00:41:54] It is everyone saying the meanest things in a normal monotone voice.

[00:41:59] She smells like rotten fish. That's right.

[00:42:02] I'm out of here. Yes.

[00:42:03] How could you do this?

[00:42:06] So they're like, you're going to get the whales aren't going to come around anymore.

[00:42:11] She's like, no, they promised that we would preserve the whales zone.

[00:42:16] And they're like, well, with all the tourists around,

[00:42:18] the whales aren't going to come around anymore.

[00:42:20] I think it's with Gia. Yeah.

[00:42:23] Because the friends, none of them.

[00:42:25] Yeah, she goes to talk to Gia on the beach.

[00:42:28] She goes to Cona, tells her where Gia is.

[00:42:32] Yeah, the whales hate tourists.

[00:42:33] Whales hate tourists. Yeah.

[00:42:35] Hate them. And rightfully so.

[00:42:37] I think the more traffic you have in the water

[00:42:40] of boats and swimmers and stuff, the whales would slowly adapt their path.

[00:42:46] But what if they're transparent?

[00:42:48] What if they're translucent? Yeah.

[00:42:51] What if they're open about what they're talking about all the time,

[00:42:53] transparently, and they're translucent?

[00:42:55] Yeah. What if they are clear, direct whales?

[00:42:58] Trans whales? Trans whales.

[00:43:00] Trans whales matter.

[00:43:01] They do. And that's why we can't build a resort on Makai.

[00:43:05] Because trans whales have rights.

[00:43:06] I've seen several videos of these whales

[00:43:09] murdering tourists, and I'm like, maybe we shouldn't.

[00:43:13] Because tourists are important.

[00:43:16] The whales who attack the boats? Yeah.

[00:43:18] Yeah, that's warranted.

[00:43:19] No, I'm 100 percent on the side of the whales.

[00:43:21] Yeah, of course.

[00:43:23] It's 100 percent on the side of the whales.

[00:43:26] You have to respect nature. Nature's here first.

[00:43:28] Come on. Go ahead, Bri.

[00:43:31] You guys got out of your system? No.

[00:43:32] No. F whales.

[00:43:34] I've said I've been very clear about my stance on whales.

[00:43:37] I mean, on tourists for years.

[00:43:39] I was like, you're going back and forth here.

[00:43:40] We were on the whale side a second ago.

[00:43:41] Both both. And when the whale guy.

[00:43:44] Yeah. What are you?

[00:43:46] Well, how do you feel about whale rights?

[00:43:47] But I have a question.

[00:43:49] You've never once.

[00:43:51] This is the what?

[00:43:52] 15th, 16th episode of the show.

[00:43:54] You you're someone that loves whales

[00:43:58] and you're hanging around on the phone line that we clearly have.

[00:44:01] Right. But you do that for a different show.

[00:44:04] What are you doing here right now?

[00:44:06] There are whales there.

[00:44:07] Well, I heard about so it doesn't matter.

[00:44:09] I love we're on if we talk about whales.

[00:44:13] I'm here. OK, it's in his contract.

[00:44:15] I know it's to voice his opinion on.

[00:44:16] Are you are you in the same boat with us or you have the tourists?

[00:44:20] The whales are right. Absolutely.

[00:44:21] OK, good. It's good to see you've come around on that issue alone.

[00:44:25] Yeah. Wow. Yeah.

[00:44:27] God bless you. Favorite translucent whale.

[00:44:30] Shawnee, probably.

[00:44:31] Shawnee. Yeah.

[00:44:33] Shawnee whale. Shawnee whale. Shawnee.

[00:44:36] I mean, my favorite is Willie. OK.

[00:44:39] I said translucent Willie.

[00:44:40] Free Willie is a translucent whale.

[00:44:42] It's really willing to. Well,

[00:44:44] see, only whale is real.

[00:44:47] You're lying. Well, sure is clearly a real whale.

[00:44:49] I don't want to look stupid.

[00:44:50] I got to say a real whale.

[00:44:52] Shamu is a whale or it's an orca. Right.

[00:44:54] Or is it is it a whale? It's a killer whale.

[00:44:56] Listen, man. Orca is a dolphin.

[00:44:58] I know. I know. Be careful, Dan. Be careful.

[00:45:00] I'm just being honest with you.

[00:45:01] Be careful. Orcas are dolphins.

[00:45:04] Orcas are dolphins.

[00:45:06] They're dolphins.

[00:45:07] I had SeaWorld Barbie and she came with a little shim.

[00:45:09] There you go.

[00:45:11] Whale guy orcas are yours.

[00:45:13] You can't claim them.

[00:45:14] Do we have a dolphin guy on the phone?

[00:45:19] Is he Woody Woodpecker?

[00:45:21] No.

[00:45:23] I don't see a dolphin.

[00:45:26] Dolphins are like, I don't know, ten octaves higher than that.

[00:45:29] Watch me.

[00:45:30] Baa!

[00:45:32] Here's one more.

[00:45:33] I miss whale guy.

[00:45:35] What do we have to do to make it stop?

[00:45:41] Yeah, that'll do it.

[00:45:45] So they're all real peeved.

[00:45:49] Real mad. The whales?

[00:45:50] And then she goes and she's going to sign this thing

[00:45:52] because she said she's going to sign it.

[00:45:54] She's going to sign the paperwork.

[00:45:55] Before that, she's explaining to Gia that she hasn't signed anything.

[00:45:59] Also, she negotiated all this great stuff.

[00:46:02] They're going to leave the lagoon alone.

[00:46:04] And then she and Gia get in a fight where Gia calls her basically a loser.

[00:46:07] And she's like...

[00:46:08] A basic B.

[00:46:10] And Sydney's like, wait, you being my friend,

[00:46:12] was that just like a plan with you and your mom?

[00:46:14] To keep the land, not as a resort.

[00:46:17] And Gia was like, well, at first.

[00:46:18] And she's like, and Kona, did he kiss me because of this plan?

[00:46:21] And Gia says yes and blah, blah, blah.

[00:46:23] And they get in this fight how no one likes Sydney.

[00:46:25] And Sydney's like, fine, I don't like any of you.

[00:46:27] Anyway, I'm going to sign that paperwork.

[00:46:29] That's right. And she was like, fine, get out of here.

[00:46:32] This is this is this acting is better.

[00:46:34] I have to be honest, Gia.

[00:46:37] That wasn't even my best girl.

[00:46:39] Wow. She didn't need to show the hands.

[00:46:42] A reenactment of Rip Girls where Erin plays both the parts

[00:46:46] of Gia and Sydney would watch.

[00:46:48] Like that would be fantastic.

[00:46:49] Gia didn't need to be that honest in that moment.

[00:46:52] As my family, it is when we need to recap a TV show growing up,

[00:46:56] I would reenact all the parts.

[00:46:58] Fantastic. Yeah.

[00:47:00] Yeah. So she goes to Gia didn't need to be that honest.

[00:47:02] She need to go. She doesn't do it.

[00:47:04] She lied to the whole plan was for Gia to befriend her

[00:47:09] and just be nice to her.

[00:47:11] But then Gia actually like but she has friends were a part of it.

[00:47:13] Kona wasn't a part of it.

[00:47:15] Like she brought all that in there to hurt Sydney because, of course,

[00:47:18] people hurt people.

[00:47:19] And people. I mean, yeah, that's the whole this whale guys problem.

[00:47:23] Stop.

[00:47:24] What?

[00:47:26] Anyway, she goes to sign on you, Daniel.

[00:47:29] It is. But she goes to sign on paperwork and she they cheer.

[00:47:33] She signs they all toast with some sparkling juice.

[00:47:36] They're like, cheers. We did it to sell this.

[00:47:39] Have you signed yet?

[00:47:40] Now you have it.

[00:47:41] Now that we've cheers.

[00:47:43] I'm working on my shares.

[00:47:44] Let's dot the eyes across the 13 year old girl.

[00:47:47] Here's a pen.

[00:47:49] What? I'm putting in the work.

[00:47:52] Her people hurt people. I'm saying, well, yeah, I'd like to know the legality.

[00:47:55] So 13 year old signing that paper.

[00:47:57] I guess with a guardian there, she could shoot.

[00:48:00] Would she sign and then the guardian signs?

[00:48:03] Yeah. So she decides obviously not to sell.

[00:48:07] We don't know that. Well, well, we just see her pin close to paper

[00:48:11] face and then it just cuts to her.

[00:48:13] Look out the window.

[00:48:14] All her friends are getting in the van to go surfing.

[00:48:15] Try by the shave ice sign.

[00:48:17] And then she's like that.

[00:48:18] And the next thing you know, she's on the beach

[00:48:20] and she's about to tell him that she didn't sign it.

[00:48:21] Well, she runs to the house.

[00:48:23] You can't miss the scene with the mom.

[00:48:25] Well, yes. She runs to her home.

[00:48:27] Of course, this dumb scene.

[00:48:29] Oh, my gosh.

[00:48:31] Hey, I didn't sign and she is not there, but her mom is.

[00:48:35] And she's like, hey, guess what?

[00:48:37] I wanted to tell you first.

[00:48:38] And the mom cuts her right off.

[00:48:40] Does not want to hear what she says because you did what you had to do.

[00:48:43] I don't need to know the details.

[00:48:45] But I do have I do have something for you.

[00:48:49] A bracelet that on my wrist.

[00:48:51] I've been wearing for 10 years and dainty,

[00:48:54] but is actually big enough to fit around a giant tree trunk.

[00:48:59] It is massive.

[00:49:00] And what is it, Dan?

[00:49:01] It is a locket on the bracelet.

[00:49:04] Where they hide is a photo of the two moms as friends.

[00:49:07] No, that would be that would make all the sense in the world.

[00:49:11] The whole movie, the whole movie,

[00:49:14] Sydney is trying to find a picture of her and her mom together

[00:49:19] and can't really find one so much so that she finds a picture of mom

[00:49:22] she loves and does some 2000s level photo shopping to take a picture of her

[00:49:26] and a picture of mom to try to create a photo of them together.

[00:49:29] This girl is desperate to have a memory,

[00:49:32] a lifelong memory of her mom and her mom.

[00:49:35] And this no good be.

[00:49:38] Gia's mom over here has the whole movie

[00:49:43] had a locket in on that locket was a picture pictures of

[00:49:48] yeah, of Sydney with her mom.

[00:49:51] Yep. What?

[00:49:54] But also like, why are you?

[00:49:56] Yeah. No, there's a lot of levels of weird there.

[00:49:59] Like how did you get that bracelet in the first place?

[00:50:02] It's just unbelievable.

[00:50:03] The fact that she didn't leave with that she finally meet him

[00:50:05] at the airport and go look what I have for you.

[00:50:07] Like what in the world? You're a villain.

[00:50:10] I don't know where she got that.

[00:50:11] Has she did she have that before the mom died?

[00:50:15] Did she go scavenge that from the house after they left?

[00:50:18] Yeah, there's a lot of questions.

[00:50:21] So many questions.

[00:50:22] I could believe she maybe went and saved it from the house

[00:50:26] after the family left being like never sent it, never showed up.

[00:50:29] But it's weird that she started wearing it.

[00:50:32] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:50:33] And then Sydney is there for a week or so and doesn't get it from her.

[00:50:36] And clearly doesn't know the story of her mom didn't know.

[00:50:40] Doesn't remember her mom was like.

[00:50:43] If she decided to keep the land, was she ever going to give her

[00:50:46] the bracelet like she thinks Sydney's leaving?

[00:50:49] She's like, well, you're leaving.

[00:50:50] You might as well take this.

[00:50:51] We'll take this now.

[00:50:53] Like if Sydney was like if she got if Sydney had gotten out

[00:50:55] the sentence, I didn't sign were staying.

[00:50:59] Was the mom just going to be like, cool, do you like my bracelets?

[00:51:03] I just I it's just too much.

[00:51:06] The fact that that's been on her wrist all movie is just too much.

[00:51:08] It's too much as a 10 year old.

[00:51:10] I was like so sweet and as an adult, I'm like, why?

[00:51:14] Yeah. I don't know.

[00:51:16] And if I could think, if I had the brain capacity

[00:51:20] 14 years ago to think about it.

[00:51:22] I would have been upset like Sydney's not upset at all,

[00:51:26] but I'd be like that is a photo of me and my mom like.

[00:51:28] Yeah, like you've known me a week like why?

[00:51:31] Yeah. Why do you have it?

[00:51:33] So you might be asking what's the big drama of the movie?

[00:51:36] She is she shows back up at the city does up at the beach.

[00:51:41] Sydney is nowhere to be found, but her board is on the beach.

[00:51:45] And so obviously, worst case scenario, Gia,

[00:51:48] Gia's pulled Sydney and is now stuck in the water.

[00:51:51] Yeah, she goes to Kona and she's like, I need to find Gia right away.

[00:51:55] And Kona's making a board for her.

[00:51:58] Yes. The whole thing.

[00:51:59] Blah, blah, blah. Yeah.

[00:52:01] Well, he's been repairing her mom's board.

[00:52:02] Yeah. But he's painted a picture of Sydney on it.

[00:52:05] He's fixed it all up.

[00:52:06] And she's like, hey, where's Gia?

[00:52:07] And he's like, I don't know.

[00:52:08] She just said she needed to go.

[00:52:11] The waves were calling.

[00:52:12] No, she like says a certain phrase, and that's her secret spot

[00:52:15] where she doesn't surf because it's too dangerous.

[00:52:18] But she goes to sit and think.

[00:52:20] And Sydney's like, oh, no, if she is there,

[00:52:23] it is trouble because they go there and she's not on the beach.

[00:52:25] And I'm like, she has gone surfing.

[00:52:27] Sees a surfboard is like, oh, man, never surf alone.

[00:52:31] You got to get out there.

[00:52:32] So Sydney, with her week of training, takes the board,

[00:52:36] heads out to the choppy water surrounded by rocks.

[00:52:39] Choppy water.

[00:52:40] Sees sees Gia out there

[00:52:44] just before going under and not coming back up.

[00:52:47] But thank God Sydney makes it to her, goes down,

[00:52:49] rests here, throws her back onto the surfboard

[00:52:52] and is like, they go straight to they don't.

[00:52:55] They do have a heart to heart here.

[00:52:56] Right on the oh, she's battered, bruised, bleeding,

[00:52:59] leading her her suits on.

[00:53:00] Now's the time to tell you, what were you doing?

[00:53:03] I didn't sign.

[00:53:05] I thought, yeah, they end up obviously being friends again.

[00:53:10] Sydney and her family are going to stay.

[00:53:12] Dad has embraced the Hawaiian life, you can tell by his Hawaiian shirt.

[00:53:18] Yes. And Sydney is now a tried and true rip girl.

[00:53:23] Yes. And the dad has a one sentence.

[00:53:27] I guess it could be a redemption if you're going to go for that.

[00:53:31] Let's not get kind of you.

[00:53:32] But he has a one sentence where he does tell Sydney

[00:53:34] that the money doesn't matter.

[00:53:35] They could stay in that.

[00:53:37] He does think it's important for her to connect to her history.

[00:53:40] It's one sentence.

[00:53:41] I think he needs a lot more to make it up to Sydney, but it's a.

[00:53:45] Something. It is something.

[00:53:47] It is something that is rip girls.

[00:53:50] Take a quick break. We'll come back and we'll

[00:53:52] talk more about it here on the come to send us.

[00:53:55] Nice job, Aaron.

[00:54:03] What up? What up, everybody?

[00:54:05] We're talking to rip girls in my defense.

[00:54:08] I was trying to make note of the timestamps

[00:54:10] so that later on, when I'm putting in ads.

[00:54:12] Oh, great job.

[00:54:13] I won't have to listen to a mic.

[00:54:16] You don't want to listen to the show.

[00:54:17] It's a gift from God.

[00:54:19] Some of the overtime hard we understand

[00:54:22] some of the overtime part of the show

[00:54:26] where we talk about, you know, what our thoughts are on the movie.

[00:54:29] I'll give you some thoughts from the Internet quickly, if you don't mind.

[00:54:33] Specifically letterbox.

[00:54:34] I will first give you a little Mike Hughes of the Gannett News Service

[00:54:40] considered rip girls a first rate film using unknown actors,

[00:54:46] which is interesting.

[00:54:47] The Entertainment Weekly did rank this movie 29 out of 30

[00:54:52] on the top 30 movies, Disney decon movies of all time,

[00:54:55] saying that's a lesser combination of earlier films such as Brink and Johnny

[00:54:58] through Nami.

[00:55:00] All right. Letterbox says this.

[00:55:03] Sarah McCoy says this.

[00:55:05] What I sleep on a certain mattress, what y'all sleep on.

[00:55:09] Rip girls one of the best Disney Channel original movies of all time.

[00:55:14] Luca says this is a social commentary

[00:55:18] on how people that surf in jean shorts should drown.

[00:55:23] Chris says for a movie in Hawaii, they showed little,

[00:55:27] very little of the beauty of Hawaii and too much Australia

[00:55:31] and too much of a realtors office.

[00:55:33] That's right, because it was not shot in Hawaii.

[00:55:35] That is probably the big reason.

[00:55:37] Max said the effort they put into that whale CGI is the same amount of effort

[00:55:40] I put into watching this movie.

[00:55:42] The boy Max Colin Driscoll says this movie should be called

[00:55:47] surf board and board is spelled like I'm bored.

[00:55:50] I got you. Nice job, Colin.

[00:55:53] Lena says this should this actually should be called

[00:55:56] rip girl, RIP girl singular instead of rip girls, plural.

[00:56:01] Because spoiler alert, only one female characters dead in this movie.

[00:56:06] Wow.

[00:56:10] Amanda says finding out they filmed this in Australia has me f'd up.

[00:56:15] And last but not least, Gabe says add to dead parent watchlist,

[00:56:20] add to anti capitalism for teens, watchlist

[00:56:24] and add to lesbian surfer icons.

[00:56:26] Watch this.

[00:56:28] It's time to talk about that's funny.

[00:56:30] Rip girls, Erin, you're the only one out of three of us

[00:56:33] that has seen this movie.

[00:56:35] Ten year old, you obviously big Kona fan loved it.

[00:56:38] Tell us about your thoughts.

[00:56:40] Obviously, ten year old Aaron had and how you felt like this movie

[00:56:43] aged over time.

[00:56:44] Hmm. Well, what I thought about it and how it is over time

[00:56:49] are two very different opinions.

[00:56:52] I still enjoyed watching this movie today or last week

[00:56:55] or whatever date we watched it the year of 2024.

[00:56:58] Yes, I really enjoyed.

[00:57:02] I still love the concept of inheriting land in Hawaii.

[00:57:07] Ten year old me thought that was the coolest thing in the world.

[00:57:09] I somehow also thought that would make her like a Hawaiian princess.

[00:57:12] I don't know.

[00:57:14] Just thought it was possible.

[00:57:15] I still am not sure she gets a whole island out of this.

[00:57:18] No, it is. It is just the land.

[00:57:20] A lot of land.

[00:57:21] But in my ten year old brain, they kept saying like she inherited

[00:57:25] Makai and in my head I was like, oh, that's Hawaiian for island.

[00:57:29] So whole island.

[00:57:31] Actually, I was like the island of Makai, Maui or OK.

[00:57:35] We're learning new things in 2024.

[00:57:39] There's a lot of parent child relationship issues

[00:57:42] that were not great 24 years ago and are really not great now.

[00:57:51] But yeah, I still had a good time.

[00:57:54] Of course, you are who you are.

[00:57:55] I am. I'm not going to apologize for it.

[00:57:58] And Dan's opinion is wrong.

[00:58:00] Well, well, let's try mine on for size.

[00:58:02] This movie whops.

[00:58:06] Hala boring.

[00:58:07] You were just disappearing under the seat in your chair.

[00:58:12] I mean, just a real snoozer.

[00:58:15] The lit the the using unknown actors.

[00:58:20] Yeah, it's tough.

[00:58:21] It showed.

[00:58:23] Filming this in Australia.

[00:58:26] How dare you?

[00:58:28] Just like on top of how boring this movie was,

[00:58:32] there's also just so many sins of casting and location

[00:58:36] that it is a real uphill battle that there's just not nearly enough movie

[00:58:41] to help it climb up.

[00:58:43] And so unfortunately, it is it's not looking good

[00:58:47] for rip girls on Brands list.

[00:58:50] Dance and just answer me this.

[00:58:53] Would you rather have Kirk Cameron

[00:58:55] shaken his tail like a dog?

[00:58:58] We'll find out making the list, won't we?

[00:58:59] Wow. Yeah.

[00:59:02] By the I don't know, 40 minutes to an hour long

[00:59:05] ComChat segment that we had,

[00:59:08] you would think that a lot happens in this movie.

[00:59:10] I would wager to say that our ComChat was longer than the actual

[00:59:15] plot portion of the movie that you watch.

[00:59:17] Well, we got into some whale rights and we did, of course.

[00:59:20] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:59:21] There's a lot there.

[00:59:21] And whale guy was a big part of it. Dolphins, the whole thing.

[00:59:24] We don't need to we don't need to talk about anymore.

[00:59:26] We don't need to. You're the one that don't look at me.

[00:59:28] You're the one I wasn't going to say anything.

[00:59:30] I said whale rights. You say, right. OK.

[00:59:32] You call. But you open the door. You open the door.

[00:59:36] All I'm saying is, is that this movie he is busy right now.

[00:59:40] So this movie, if you take out these surfing

[00:59:44] scenes, three, four or five. God keep going.

[00:59:47] Almighty.

[00:59:47] Love you, baby boy.

[00:59:49] Love you too, buddy.

[00:59:50] If you if you take out the the surfing scenes,

[00:59:54] whale lives matter, whale lives.

[00:59:56] OK, yes, sure.

[00:59:59] Brain and I for long stretches were like,

[01:00:01] is this scene still going on?

[01:00:03] Like it's just shots of people surfing for no reason.

[01:00:06] There's not a competition. It's just for them.

[01:00:08] So they take a horse ride in this movie

[01:00:11] and they're like, it's a long ride out of the barn.

[01:00:12] Boy, is it we just see horses walking,

[01:00:16] not like galloping or trotting horses walking for minutes.

[01:00:21] It is a tough watch.

[01:00:24] I mean, forget the fact that the acting is unfortunately bad.

[01:00:28] Forget the fact that the dad is just a despicable human being

[01:00:32] who didn't tell his daughter anything about her dead mom.

[01:00:35] Forget the fact that this friend's mom had this picture the whole time.

[01:00:39] All that stuff would be like really bad in a better movie.

[01:00:43] But the movie itself is bad, like it just hangs on nothing.

[01:00:47] If you took out all of these very long,

[01:00:50] excruciating horse walking and surfing scenes, not horse surfing.

[01:00:54] That would be awesome if horses were surfing.

[01:00:56] Say horse.

[01:00:57] Yeah, those scenes, if those scenes were gone,

[01:00:59] the movie would be like 40, 48 minutes long.

[01:01:01] So I just it's just it's not good.

[01:01:05] It does, in fact, won't.

[01:01:07] I hate to report it does.

[01:01:09] It's a bad movie.

[01:01:11] I can imagine if if you were a 10 year old girl and watched it and you loved it.

[01:01:15] I'm not mad at you.

[01:01:16] I think that's totally fine.

[01:01:18] I think that maybe the peak audience for this movie is

[01:01:21] 10 year old girls who would like 12 year old girls.

[01:01:24] Yeah, I think that is that is in the early 2000s.

[01:01:27] Yes. But for all the rest of us,

[01:01:31] yeah, it doesn't change.

[01:01:32] It's not made for men over the age of 30.

[01:01:35] What? What about an age of 40?

[01:01:38] That's where I am. Still sucks.

[01:01:40] I was trying to include Brian.

[01:01:41] Yeah, bad. It's not good.

[01:01:43] We want to make the list, Brian.

[01:01:44] Let's make that list.

[01:01:46] So we talk about our list and where this movie ends up on it.

[01:01:50] We're going to do the top 10 list unless this movie somehow

[01:01:54] didn't make our top 10.

[01:01:55] We will know where it ultimately is currently on our list.

[01:01:58] Aaron, I'll let you go first.

[01:01:59] All right. Coming in at number 10.

[01:02:02] Horsense. OK.

[01:02:04] So we've come to our horse senses a little bit, which is good.

[01:02:08] Starting to plummet, which is nice.

[01:02:10] We're not going to hear about it anymore.

[01:02:12] Good. Well, I don't know.

[01:02:14] I actually have not seen next week's movie, so I don't know where that's

[01:02:17] going to rank, but it just made me at one point.

[01:02:19] Had it like three or four.

[01:02:20] No. Oh, wow.

[01:02:22] I know it's going to be all of us.

[01:02:23] No, I've seen it.

[01:02:24] OK. New for me.

[01:02:25] Frankie Munoz. Come on.

[01:02:29] Number nine, Ali Cat Strike.

[01:02:31] Number eight, Rip Girls, not seven, Brink six up, up and away.

[01:02:36] Five, Zenon for Halloween town.

[01:02:39] Three, Smart House to Johnny tsunami.

[01:02:41] One color of friendship.

[01:02:44] And I will say I did think long and hard Johnny tsunami

[01:02:47] almost moved back to number one spot.

[01:02:49] So give it a couple of weeks.

[01:02:50] The the love of color friendship, the excitement of getting to watch again

[01:02:54] is waiting.

[01:02:57] Number one, it will move back down.

[01:02:59] It was real close to becoming.

[01:03:01] I'm just thrilled that you can do this.

[01:03:02] Be like I had I just was excited about watching again.

[01:03:05] So I'm going to shout it out at number one.

[01:03:07] Just go shout it out.

[01:03:08] I think I think by next week, it's like you're scared to break up

[01:03:11] with a boyfriend and you just slowly like like so much of my childhood

[01:03:16] was spent obsessed with color friendship and rewatching my tape,

[01:03:20] just pulling back emotionally until they don't notice.

[01:03:23] And 33 year old me is having a hard time breaking up.

[01:03:26] You're trying to get color friendship to break up with you.

[01:03:29] I'm just it's not going well.

[01:03:31] OK, I will start with rip girls that did not make my top 10.

[01:03:37] Boo of the 16 movies we've watched.

[01:03:41] I have it at 14.

[01:03:43] So do I sandwiched in between you lucky dog on the lower end

[01:03:47] and horse sense just above it.

[01:03:49] I have horse sense just above it as well.

[01:03:52] OK, great. Yeah.

[01:03:53] I have also moved some things around in my top 10.

[01:03:56] I have to. OK, great.

[01:03:57] Up and away at 10 color of friendship at nine,

[01:04:01] which is fascinating that I now have color friendship above above you.

[01:04:07] Color friendship still won't on her.

[01:04:08] Oh, for what was horse sense at one point horse that makes you four on her list.

[01:04:13] Yeah, like she was on drugs, actual drugs. Great.

[01:04:17] Color friendship, nine,

[01:04:19] Zenon eight, I wasn't I wasn't.

[01:04:22] Genius seven.

[01:04:24] You need to clear that up.

[01:04:25] Alley cats strike is now six.

[01:04:29] Don't look under the bed is now at five.

[01:04:31] So those two have flopped or swaps strike at what?

[01:04:34] At six.

[01:04:35] Don't look under the bed is now five.

[01:04:38] And then I have Halloween town at four.

[01:04:41] Smart houses moved down to three.

[01:04:43] Johnny Tsunami up to two.

[01:04:44] Brink at one Brink still at one.

[01:04:48] Yeah. OK. But Johnny Tsunami moved up.

[01:04:50] Yeah, you're getting there.

[01:04:53] All right. I have some movement in my top 10.

[01:04:55] I also had Rip Girls at 14.

[01:04:58] The only two movies worse than Rip Girls.

[01:05:01] You lucky dog in the 13th year.

[01:05:03] And I got to be honest, I battled real hard with 13th year

[01:05:06] and Rip Girls, but I gave Rip Girls the nod there.

[01:05:09] And I have horse sense right above Rip Girls

[01:05:12] as being a better movie than Rip Girls for what that's worth.

[01:05:16] Number 10 on my list.

[01:05:17] Andy Lawrence is acting in the tree.

[01:05:18] It was. Yeah.

[01:05:19] I mean, yeah, I mean, the treehouse scene, he's throwing boards.

[01:05:22] He's bra.

[01:05:24] That pure grief that he was able to.

[01:05:26] It was the paper for me.

[01:05:27] It's Joey Lawrence realizing he wrote a D paper that can solve everything is

[01:05:32] like that's a classic moment that gives it to 13 gives hopes students everywhere.

[01:05:37] My D paper that clearly has a good understanding on land trust.

[01:05:41] So we.

[01:05:43] Number 10 is Ali Cat Strike for me.

[01:05:47] Nine color of friendship, eight smart house,

[01:05:51] seven up, up and away.

[01:05:53] Six down to six is genius.

[01:05:56] Starting to see the light a little bit on genius.

[01:05:59] I guess was in your top three, top three or four.

[01:06:01] I think genius.

[01:06:03] I still enjoy more than you guys did.

[01:06:05] I think the movie holds up a lot better as one of these movies goes.

[01:06:09] But I agree doesn't know how college works.

[01:06:11] Right. Five really hard to get around.

[01:06:14] Don't look under the bed.

[01:06:16] Wait a minute. One, two, three, four.

[01:06:18] Yeah, five. Wow. Five.

[01:06:20] Don't look under the bed for you.

[01:06:22] Love that. For Zenon.

[01:06:24] Yeah, three. Brink.

[01:06:26] I can't believe Brink is in. Wow.

[01:06:28] Two Halloween town, one Johnny tsunami.

[01:06:31] Man, wasn't Brink like six last week or so?

[01:06:34] No, it was four last week.

[01:06:36] It moved up one spot. Genius moved down.

[01:06:38] So Zenon don't look under the bed and Brink all moved up.

[01:06:41] I like what's happening there.

[01:06:42] I like what's happening.

[01:06:44] Are we going to get to a point where Brink is your number one?

[01:06:46] There's no way. There's a way.

[01:06:48] No, God's tsunami is unequivocally

[01:06:51] better than Brink.

[01:06:53] He's just the best person.

[01:06:55] He works in ways you cannot see.

[01:06:58] Here's what I'll say.

[01:06:59] Go ahead.

[01:07:00] He will make a way for me.

[01:07:03] Here's what I'll say.

[01:07:04] Go ahead. Yes, Dan.

[01:07:05] Is that

[01:07:07] the simplicity of Brink

[01:07:10] is starting to become a feature, not a bug.

[01:07:13] So when I saw it the first time, I'm like, this is it.

[01:07:16] This is the movie that I've just been hearing raves about

[01:07:19] like it is a game changer.

[01:07:20] And it is so basic of it's just such a basic movie.

[01:07:24] It's a basic, basic, basic B of a movie.

[01:07:26] But compared to movies like, you know,

[01:07:31] Smart House, where they try high concept and just do it wrong.

[01:07:34] Smart House or Color of Friendship, which like tries to cure race relations,

[01:07:38] even though they're already cured in America, according to the movie,

[01:07:41] or Alley Cat Strike, which is just a disaster.

[01:07:44] Sweet Lou in the house.

[01:07:46] Like all of a sudden, it's like Brink didn't try to be anything more than a five of 10.

[01:07:51] And it is a it is ten of ten at being a five of ten.

[01:07:54] And for that, it probably is going to stick around in the middle there

[01:07:57] somewhere a lot longer than other movies, whereas all these other movies don't do that.

[01:08:02] I think Halloweentown, Johnny Tsunami clearly better.

[01:08:05] But but and I see not and don't look out of the bed might be for what they

[01:08:08] try to do because they try to be better than Brink.

[01:08:10] Speaking of Halloween town, we're a week late at this point.

[01:08:14] But can we talk for a second about how Kimberly J Brown and Daniel got married?

[01:08:18] Who what the stars of Halloween town to just got married.

[01:08:22] Halloween town, too. Yeah, we haven't got it.

[01:08:23] I don't know who those are.

[01:08:25] Doesn't matter. Well, you know, Kimberly J Brown, Marnie.

[01:08:27] Yeah, yeah.

[01:08:29] She marries the lead of Halloween Town.

[01:08:31] They just got married like this year.

[01:08:32] Yeah, like this week. Oh, that's cool.

[01:08:34] Yeah. How about that? All these years later.

[01:08:36] Yeah. And they did not date like from Halloween Town, too.

[01:08:39] They reconnected a few years ago filming something and fell in love there.

[01:08:42] But it's just this fun little Halloween town.

[01:08:45] I love that. Yeah.

[01:08:47] Well, decom romance.

[01:08:49] We did everybody rip girls a thing of the past.

[01:08:52] Don't forget today is a blitz day.

[01:08:55] So share this podcast with three different people.

[01:08:57] You know, it would freeze it.

[01:08:58] It would thrill us to know and if that would happen, leave a review.

[01:09:02] We're trying to get to a hundred like a pyramid.

[01:09:04] But like it's not a pyramid. No, no, no.

[01:09:06] But you just think of we have four episodes left to get to 100 100 reviews.

[01:09:10] I think we can do it. I think we could do it.

[01:09:12] If we all band together and we really like, you know, believe in our grab your

[01:09:15] your parents, your brothers, your sisters, your aunt, your uncle's phone

[01:09:19] and just put a five star in.

[01:09:20] We believe in you should you go to the Apple store

[01:09:22] and just start working your way down the devices that are there?

[01:09:25] Oh, I didn't think about that.

[01:09:26] I don't know if that would work, but it's just a lot of devices.

[01:09:28] You'd have to have an account, wouldn't you?

[01:09:30] I don't know.

[01:09:30] So I think I think it's a different account.

[01:09:33] Whatever. Try it next week, everybody.

[01:09:37] Miracle in Lane two.

[01:09:41] Excited about it.

[01:09:42] Frankie Minnis joint.

[01:09:43] We'll be back until then.

[01:09:45] The calm city.

[01:09:47] You come city.
