[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast.
[00:00:26] To a very spooky episode!
[00:00:29] Who is this?
[00:00:30] It's me!
[00:00:31] Mario?
[00:00:32] Yes!
[00:00:33] What's happening here?
[00:00:34] I remember Halloween.
[00:00:36] Oh, Halloween.
[00:00:38] That's today, or that's tomorrow.
[00:00:39] That's today.
[00:00:40] When does this show come out?
[00:00:42] One day of the week right now.
[00:00:42] It comes out on Friday.
[00:00:43] It comes out on Friday.
[00:00:44] That was yesterday.
[00:00:45] Yes!
[00:00:45] Halloween was yesterday.
[00:00:47] How was it?
[00:00:48] Otherwise known as today, tomorrow.
[00:00:50] Thursday.
[00:00:51] Thursday.
[00:00:51] How was your...
[00:00:52] My Halloween was great.
[00:00:53] Brand was fun.
[00:00:54] Your costume brand.
[00:00:56] Yep.
[00:00:57] Excellent.
[00:00:58] Thank you.
[00:00:58] What about my costume?
[00:00:58] And we have another Shindig Tomorrow brand.
[00:01:01] Yeah.
[00:01:01] Where kids are jumping on a bounce house.
[00:01:04] Yep.
[00:01:04] I was planning on being out of town for that one.
[00:01:09] Strategically.
[00:01:10] It's tough.
[00:01:11] Tough break for you.
[00:01:11] Tough out there.
[00:01:12] Yeah.
[00:01:14] I mean, you could...
[00:01:15] Your family doesn't need to know that that event was canceled.
[00:01:17] Oh, yeah, they do.
[00:01:19] They know.
[00:01:20] They know.
[00:01:21] Yeah.
[00:01:21] Yeah.
[00:01:22] Well, welcome everybody.
[00:01:23] We're talking Scream Team today.
[00:01:25] The Scream Team.
[00:01:27] A title of a movie where they definitely say the words Scream Team in the movie.
[00:01:32] Oh, for numerous times.
[00:01:34] So many times.
[00:01:35] Don't worry.
[00:01:36] Soul Patrol.
[00:01:36] Soul Patrol.
[00:01:37] The only time...
[00:01:38] Like, it's mentioned in the song.
[00:01:40] Yes.
[00:01:41] Yes, they do mention it in the song.
[00:01:42] Well, I think they done goofed.
[00:01:43] They realized...
[00:01:44] We wrote a song called Scream Team and we called it The Soul Patrol and that's...
[00:01:48] There was a definitely a...
[00:01:50] The wires were cross-brained.
[00:01:51] Yeah.
[00:01:52] I think...
[00:01:52] You know what wires weren't cross-brained?
[00:01:53] What's that?
[00:01:54] The folks giving us the five-star reviews.
[00:01:56] Oh, really?
[00:01:56] I don't know if that worked or not, but that's what I'm saying.
[00:01:58] You know what?
[00:01:58] I think if you really break it down, it didn't, but it was good enough to where no one's going
[00:02:04] to...
[00:02:04] How about Doctor?
[00:02:05] This is just capital D...
[00:02:06] Oh, yes.
[00:02:07] Capital D, lowercase r, and then ellipses.
[00:02:10] Aaron's listening.
[00:02:11] Doctor.
[00:02:12] Doctor.
[00:02:14] Um...
[00:02:14] Delightful, charming, hilarious, and ridiculous is the title of it.
[00:02:19] Without question, this is an absolute gem of a podcast with three of the most delightful,
[00:02:23] charming, hilarious, and absolutely ridiculous in all the best ways hosts.
[00:02:27] That said, cautionary note to my fellow Gen Xers.
[00:02:30] Should you listen to this podcast?
[00:02:31] Absolutely.
[00:02:32] There's not a bad day that can be made...
[00:02:34] Cannot be made better by brands always ill-fated attempts to get through a synopsis unscathed by
[00:02:40] vocabulary or side-conversating taunting co-hosts.
[00:02:44] Should you ever watch any of the actual movies reviewed in this podcast?
[00:02:48] Absolutely not.
[00:02:49] No matter how many times brand calls Brink the best movie ever.
[00:02:52] Don't be fooled.
[00:02:53] You will finish and immediately wish you had rolled around in thumbtacks and taken a bath
[00:02:57] in lemon juice instead, or worse, watch Space Jam starring the Looney Tunes.
[00:03:02] But this podcast is as great as the DCOMs are bad.
[00:03:06] Will it be even better when Dan realizes the only appropriate responses to the Delish segment are,
[00:03:12] thanks for making this, Erin.
[00:03:13] Or better yet, thanks for making this, Erin.
[00:03:15] It's delicious.
[00:03:16] Sure.
[00:03:17] But in the meantime, this podcast is still a surefire bomb to whatever emotionally ails you.
[00:03:23] Give it a listen.
[00:03:24] Wow!
[00:03:25] What a review.
[00:03:26] I think my favorite part of this podcast are the reviews.
[00:03:30] The reviews are great.
[00:03:30] Like I want to meet these people.
[00:03:32] Like we'd be friends.
[00:03:32] Yeah.
[00:03:33] Ratings and reviews are important, especially if you want us to continue the pod.
[00:03:36] You got to get to 300.
[00:03:37] It's not looking great.
[00:03:38] We have 139 and that's okay.
[00:03:41] And I'll say this about the Delish segment.
[00:03:43] First of all, there have been times when Erin has made some really great stuff.
[00:03:46] And if I said everything was delicious.
[00:03:49] Then it doesn't count.
[00:03:50] If you highlight the whole page, nothing's highlighted.
[00:03:52] Erin, I think most of us, I know I would rather have a sincere compliment than an automatic compliment.
[00:03:58] Well, I can usually tell when you're lying.
[00:04:00] So you could lie on air.
[00:04:01] I don't lie.
[00:04:01] But if you had said like, oh, it's delicious.
[00:04:04] Yes.
[00:04:04] You can't give a compliment without lying.
[00:04:06] That's true.
[00:04:06] I would know.
[00:04:07] That's true.
[00:04:07] Yes.
[00:04:08] You can say thank you.
[00:04:08] Thank you.
[00:04:09] Yes.
[00:04:09] But that's different than saying something is of a certain quality.
[00:04:12] But the review said.
[00:04:14] The review said, thank you.
[00:04:15] It's delicious.
[00:04:16] Okay.
[00:04:17] Thank you.
[00:04:17] Yeah.
[00:04:18] I say thank you sometimes.
[00:04:20] Thank you.
[00:04:21] Well, you definitely made something today, Erin, for the Delish segment.
[00:04:24] I'm looking at it and I'm saying that is homemade.
[00:04:28] For sure.
[00:04:28] Let's get to the Delish.
[00:04:31] It's scary.
[00:04:32] It's spooky.
[00:04:32] It's Scream Team.
[00:04:33] Yes.
[00:04:34] What type of scary concoction have you whipped up today, Erin?
[00:04:39] Today, I have whipped up a pumpkin streusel muffin.
[00:04:42] Oh!
[00:04:42] Oh, I'm listening.
[00:04:44] Yes, please.
[00:04:45] There's a lot of pumpkins in this movie.
[00:04:48] I thought there'd be some maybe, I mean, we were playing a fun game while watching
[00:04:52] this.
[00:04:52] Christmas Movie Magic.
[00:04:53] The card game.
[00:04:53] I do want to say, Christmas Movie Magic out now.
[00:04:57] Yes.
[00:04:57] You can buy it on Amazon, all that good stuff.
[00:05:00] It's definitely close enough for people to see it.
[00:05:02] Here it is.
[00:05:03] Bam!
[00:05:03] And it is out now and you can play it while watching DCOMs.
[00:05:08] Yeah.
[00:05:08] I mean, I just went through and there's like a couple that are very specifically Christmas.
[00:05:13] I took those cards out.
[00:05:14] You know what you could do is make them double or triple the points in case somebody wants
[00:05:18] to try it.
[00:05:19] And that way, if there happens to be a Christmas present or something in the end.
[00:05:23] You never know.
[00:05:23] You never know.
[00:05:24] Anyway, so this game, you know, it's made for watching Christmas movies, but we very easily
[00:05:29] adapted it to the Scream Team.
[00:05:31] We sure did.
[00:05:31] And we had a great time playing it.
[00:05:33] We had several cards for like treats and I thought, you know, there's a carnival involved.
[00:05:38] Like there's for sure going to be pastries or something I can pull from.
[00:05:42] And not really.
[00:05:44] So we're just, you know, the movie opens up with them carving a pumpkin.
[00:05:48] There's a lot of pumpkins.
[00:05:51] Pumpkins.
[00:05:51] Let's get it.
[00:05:53] Did you make this at home?
[00:05:54] Uh huh.
[00:05:57] Did not buy this at a store.
[00:05:59] Seems like a lie.
[00:06:02] Let's eat.
[00:06:03] Man.
[00:06:04] I can't believe I lived like a good chunk of my life thinking that pumpkin things would
[00:06:09] be gross.
[00:06:09] Right?
[00:06:11] Pumpkin might be my genesis for beginning to try new things.
[00:06:19] I mean, you've had to try new things since you were born.
[00:06:21] I want to be clear.
[00:06:23] You know what I'm talking about.
[00:06:24] You came close to trying eggnogs.
[00:06:25] I don't like trying new things, but I've started giving things a shot a little bit more easier.
[00:06:30] Pumpkin might be what happened.
[00:06:32] This is really good.
[00:06:34] What were you gonna say?
[00:06:36] Um, I was saying that you, you tried the, um, I can't think of what I made last week.
[00:06:42] Oh my God.
[00:06:43] But it was close to eggnog.
[00:06:45] Yeah, it was.
[00:06:46] Coquito.
[00:06:47] Coquito.
[00:06:48] Yeah.
[00:06:48] And that was new for you.
[00:06:49] You don't normally like things of that texture, but you tried it and you liked it.
[00:06:52] I know.
[00:06:53] I'm a new boy.
[00:06:55] We're proud of you.
[00:06:56] You're really doing it.
[00:06:57] Thank you.
[00:06:57] Um, well that was very wonderful.
[00:06:59] You can make this.
[00:07:00] What was the, what was the whole, uh, breakdown there?
[00:07:03] You add pumpkin and bread and then.
[00:07:06] Yeah.
[00:07:07] I mean, if you want to save yourself some time.
[00:07:10] If you, you can just go to the store and get a pumpkin muffin.
[00:07:13] They're everywhere right now.
[00:07:13] Right.
[00:07:14] But when this season's over, you can make them at home and I will post that recipe on the
[00:07:18] socials.
[00:07:18] I love it.
[00:07:19] There you go.
[00:07:20] Hey, let's take a quick break.
[00:07:20] We're going to come back.
[00:07:21] We're going to talk about the scream team.
[00:07:23] Everybody.
[00:07:23] It's happening here on D.
[00:07:26] Com.
[00:07:27] Descendants.
[00:07:42] Welcome back to D. Com.
[00:07:43] Descendants.
[00:07:44] Brandon, Sarah, and it's Dan.
[00:07:45] We're talking scream team today.
[00:07:47] Oh, you're Dan.
[00:07:48] Yeah.
[00:07:48] I know.
[00:07:49] A lot of people, uh, mix that up.
[00:07:51] Yeah.
[00:07:51] Mix that up.
[00:07:52] A lot of times they say you're Dan.
[00:07:53] I'm here.
[00:07:53] Yeah.
[00:07:54] It hurts my hands, but I don't say anything.
[00:07:55] Right.
[00:07:56] I'm Alec.
[00:07:57] I'm Alec.
[00:07:58] Let's talk scream team.
[00:08:00] Shall we?
[00:08:00] Our 41st movie.
[00:08:02] Is that correct?
[00:08:03] This is the calm chat.
[00:08:04] I just want to make sure I have that.
[00:08:05] This is calm.
[00:08:06] This is calm chat.
[00:08:07] So we chat about the calm.
[00:08:09] Yes.
[00:08:10] Can't call D. Com without calm chat.
[00:08:12] No, there's no way.
[00:08:13] Let's, uh, let's get to it.
[00:08:15] October 4th, 2002 is when this movie premiered on the, the network.
[00:08:20] It was, uh, directed by Stuart Gillard.
[00:08:24] And I'm fat.
[00:08:25] I really want to know what else Stuart has done.
[00:08:28] I can help you.
[00:08:28] Um, because he's, uh, he had quite the specific vision.
[00:08:33] Yes, he did.
[00:08:34] I think, uh, starring Mark Rendall, Kat Dennings, Robert Booksteel, Eric Idol, Tommy Davidson,
[00:08:43] Kathy Najee, Najee, Najee.
[00:08:46] Najee.
[00:08:46] Yeah.
[00:08:47] It's a loaded cast.
[00:08:48] Loaded cast.
[00:08:49] It's huge.
[00:08:50] It's massive.
[00:08:50] It's big.
[00:08:51] Um, let's, uh, let's dive in.
[00:08:54] Shall we?
[00:08:54] I would love to brand.
[00:08:55] We get a fun.
[00:08:56] You mentioned the song, Aaron.
[00:08:57] We do start off with an original song, which I wish that this was a trend that continues
[00:09:04] continued.
[00:09:04] We had get a clue and original song for the movie.
[00:09:08] We've got the scream team.
[00:09:09] Was it?
[00:09:10] Um, I would assume so.
[00:09:12] I don't know why I assume that though.
[00:09:14] Yeah.
[00:09:15] I don't know.
[00:09:15] Hmm.
[00:09:16] Can you look that up?
[00:09:17] Can you look at whether or not get a clue is created by the movie by the,
[00:09:21] by Simon and Milo.
[00:09:22] Stuart Gilliard, a veteran TV director.
[00:09:25] Okay.
[00:09:25] I mean, just like everything, you know, TV, one tree hill, uh, ringer Avalon high Emily
[00:09:32] Owens, MD 90210 beauty and the beast.
[00:09:35] No tomorrow rain on and on.
[00:09:37] Jane, the virgin on and on and on.
[00:09:38] There you go.
[00:09:39] Um, so we cut into this house and we see ghosts are whizzing around a house, uh, like
[00:09:46] little light, light things.
[00:09:47] And, uh, we see that there's an old guy in a seat just sitting there.
[00:09:51] He's sitting there cause he's dead.
[00:09:53] He's kicked the old bucket.
[00:09:55] Um, cut to two children, Ian and Claire.
[00:09:59] They are, uh, working on a pumpkin.
[00:10:04] Yep.
[00:10:05] Carving machine with their grandfather.
[00:10:08] It's big fun.
[00:10:09] They're having a blast.
[00:10:11] Uh, what if people didn't actually have to carve pumpkins?
[00:10:14] Uh, that wouldn't that be something?
[00:10:16] And so turns out though, that this video that we're seeing are, is actually just a home
[00:10:20] video.
[00:10:21] It's being watched by Ian and Claire at grandpa's memorial.
[00:10:25] Dad doesn't like them watching these videos.
[00:10:28] Memorial's not for remembering.
[00:10:30] How dare you try to remember your grandfather.
[00:10:32] Memorial's are for mingling with randos.
[00:10:35] Get up and talk to people.
[00:10:36] That's right.
[00:10:37] Now go have meaningless conversations with your grandfather's friends.
[00:10:41] That's right.
[00:10:41] That's right.
[00:10:42] Any of this, just put it down somewhere where you can't find it.
[00:10:46] In the recesses of your mind.
[00:10:47] Would it be a beautiful memorial to watch a video of your grandfather doing what he loved
[00:10:51] and enjoying life?
[00:10:52] No, no, no.
[00:10:53] You don't want to process this guilt right now.
[00:10:56] Don't you dare do it.
[00:10:57] Put it away.
[00:10:58] Get out.
[00:11:00] Um, and so, uh, 10 out of 10 dad.
[00:11:03] Yeah.
[00:11:03] He's great.
[00:11:04] He's great.
[00:11:04] I literally did find a letterbox review though.
[00:11:06] That was like, it's so great to see a D come dad.
[00:11:08] That doesn't suck.
[00:11:09] Well, I can't tell if they were being, that's gotta be a joke, but I also was going to
[00:11:13] say not the worst D come dad.
[00:11:15] No, no, no.
[00:11:15] He turns it around eventually.
[00:11:17] For half of the movie.
[00:11:18] Oh, he's terrible, but he's not the worst.
[00:11:20] Yes.
[00:11:21] Um, and so.
[00:11:22] That bar is low.
[00:11:23] Yeah, that's true.
[00:11:24] So, uh, they, Ian doesn't want to mingle with Randos though.
[00:11:29] Fair.
[00:11:30] He goes down to the basement.
[00:11:31] I don't want to mingle with Randos on a good day, much less a bad day.
[00:11:35] Um, he goes, of course, but it's better than a good day mingling with Randos.
[00:11:40] Um, and so he goes down to his grandpa's basement where he stores all of his random inventions that
[00:11:47] he's worked on over the years and some weird things begin to happen.
[00:11:50] He thinks that he hears someone calling his name.
[00:11:54] He hears some movement and, uh, turns out it's just dad, just dad being a little dinker
[00:11:59] coming downstairs and be like, Hey, it's me.
[00:12:01] No one cares about you, dad.
[00:12:02] We thought it was a ghost.
[00:12:04] Maybe it was a ghost.
[00:12:05] Um, both and both.
[00:12:07] And the next day dad tells them the legend of Zachariah Cole, who is accused of burning
[00:12:16] down the house, burning down the house with his, uh, wife in it.
[00:12:22] And, uh, Zachariah, I think it's fair to say he freaking loved fire.
[00:12:26] Um, did he start the fire?
[00:12:28] That's the big question.
[00:12:29] We didn't.
[00:12:29] Yeah.
[00:12:30] We would never know.
[00:12:32] It was always burning.
[00:12:33] We would not start it.
[00:12:34] We didn't start it.
[00:12:35] I can confirm the best I can understand.
[00:12:38] And you can correct me if I'm wrong, Dan, but it's actually been burning since the world
[00:12:41] was turning, man.
[00:12:42] You said it for him.
[00:12:43] So I don't know how we can get, we can't get into it.
[00:12:46] I don't know how we can control it for this.
[00:12:47] Um, so just as, uh, I mean, if anything, we tried to fight it.
[00:12:51] Yes.
[00:12:52] Actively.
[00:12:53] And they also, we were all there.
[00:12:54] I can account for all of us.
[00:12:55] Yeah.
[00:12:57] We were out there fighting that fire like a mother.
[00:13:00] Aaron did leave for a minute.
[00:13:01] Oh yeah.
[00:13:02] I didn't want to say that out loud.
[00:13:04] What were you doing?
[00:13:04] Can't believe you threw under the bus like that.
[00:13:06] She could have started the fire.
[00:13:08] Aaron could have.
[00:13:09] It's unlikely.
[00:13:10] It's not within her character.
[00:13:12] I would say it's more likely that I started the fire than that I tried to point
[00:13:16] ways in you.
[00:13:17] So it's, that's fair.
[00:13:19] Um, and for those that just listened to the show, that's a really specific.
[00:13:23] That is very.
[00:13:24] Yeah.
[00:13:25] Um, or is it, or is it, uh, happy Halloween.
[00:13:29] So, so, uh, as dad is telling the story, uh, he, they have a fire going in the house
[00:13:36] and these windows, I'm sorry, the doors fly open, which causes wind to blow into the house,
[00:13:43] which causes fire to fly out of the fireplace and onto this flyer.
[00:13:49] That is a drawing of Zachariah and it catches fire.
[00:13:53] Zachariah is at it again.
[00:13:55] Y'all you're trying to burn down houses.
[00:13:58] Well, everything on the flyer, it's for a festival.
[00:14:00] Yep.
[00:14:01] You know, fire fest fire with an eye with an eye, the way it's spelled, but everything on
[00:14:11] the flyer burns except for the picture of Zachariah.
[00:14:14] That's right.
[00:14:15] And it's a really scary drawing of him by the way.
[00:14:18] Yeah.
[00:14:18] It's like if you took a human, like, I don't know, it kind of reminded me of like Slenderman.
[00:14:22] A little bit like Slenderman.
[00:14:24] Wow.
[00:14:24] It was trying to be like spooky.
[00:14:27] Shout out Slenderman.
[00:14:28] One of the worst movies I've ever seen in the theater.
[00:14:29] Sure.
[00:14:30] Never saw it.
[00:14:31] Terrible.
[00:14:31] I just worked in an elementary school and so you knew all about it.
[00:14:34] Slenderman's real.
[00:14:35] I mean, how do you not?
[00:14:36] How do you not?
[00:14:37] Yeah.
[00:14:37] He's real.
[00:14:38] Momo.
[00:14:39] Slenderman and Momo.
[00:14:39] Can't get around.
[00:14:40] They're both real to me.
[00:14:41] They're both real to me.
[00:14:43] So, shout out to my kid.
[00:14:44] Which one's scarier?
[00:14:45] Momo or Slenderman?
[00:14:47] Momo.
[00:14:48] Momo's scarier because of, yes.
[00:14:50] Yeah.
[00:14:50] But shout out to my kid's grandma who they call Momo.
[00:14:53] Yeah.
[00:14:54] That's tough.
[00:14:54] Not that Momo.
[00:14:55] Looks like the critics were with me on Slenderman.
[00:14:57] Holy moly.
[00:14:58] Yeah.
[00:14:58] I really wanted to see it because the reviews were so bad.
[00:15:00] Panda and I went.
[00:15:01] Yeah.
[00:15:01] It was one time.
[00:15:02] And so the fire gets stamped out.
[00:15:05] They're stamping out the ghost and Ian goes to sleep in his grandfather's room, which
[00:15:10] is such a crazy thing.
[00:15:11] Bonkers.
[00:15:11] I understand he didn't die in the room, but even if you're not a believer in ghosts or
[00:15:18] spirits or whatever.
[00:15:18] Even if you ain't afraid of no ghosts.
[00:15:20] You gotta give that room time to breathe, right?
[00:15:23] Yeah.
[00:15:23] Respect the ghost.
[00:15:24] Respect the fact that it could.
[00:15:26] I don't believe ghosts exist.
[00:15:28] No.
[00:15:28] I wouldn't do that just in case I'm wrong.
[00:15:31] Just in case.
[00:15:32] It's a just in case situation.
[00:15:34] I am 100% like, I don't think like I'm firmly believe it, but you know what?
[00:15:40] I'm not going to attempt it.
[00:15:41] You've been wrong about a lot of things.
[00:15:42] We all have.
[00:15:44] Well, some more than others.
[00:15:46] Would you sleep in your grandfather's bed after you died?
[00:15:49] Like the day after?
[00:15:51] The night?
[00:15:51] No.
[00:15:52] What's the proper time to let that room breathe?
[00:15:56] Probably a year.
[00:15:57] I think you like, I think you gotta go in there and get all the stuff out.
[00:16:01] I mean, the bed frame that I have now is from my grandparents.
[00:16:05] That's different.
[00:16:05] That's different.
[00:16:06] But I did not get that until well after.
[00:16:09] Now we're getting very dark, but I can't not ask this question because it's just been
[00:16:12] here ever since you brought it up.
[00:16:14] Brian, you, like you and Caitlin live a long time.
[00:16:18] I hope so.
[00:16:19] All of a sudden, somehow against all odds, she goes before you.
[00:16:23] Again, not possible.
[00:16:24] And you're both, you're both 80.
[00:16:26] Yeah.
[00:16:26] Yeah.
[00:16:27] That's different, right?
[00:16:28] That's different.
[00:16:28] Cause you, I think you kind of.
[00:16:30] It's still your bed.
[00:16:31] Yes.
[00:16:31] It is still your bed.
[00:16:32] And you also kind of want that, you know?
[00:16:33] Yeah.
[00:16:34] Yeah.
[00:16:35] Different.
[00:16:35] Like what if I get to.
[00:16:36] Yeah.
[00:16:36] I think that's different.
[00:16:37] Yes.
[00:16:37] Yeah.
[00:16:37] Because that is like, in essence, still sleeping in the bed, but.
[00:16:42] Yeah.
[00:16:43] It's your bed.
[00:16:44] What he's doing is.
[00:16:45] You are want.
[00:16:45] Tempting fate.
[00:16:47] That's all we're saying.
[00:16:47] Yes.
[00:16:48] Yes.
[00:16:48] 100%.
[00:16:50] And the, the fate does get tempted and the tempted become stuff happens.
[00:16:55] Is what I'm trying to say.
[00:16:56] The tempted becomes.
[00:16:58] Fate.
[00:16:58] Fate.
[00:17:00] He has a tough night.
[00:17:02] There's lots of spooky things.
[00:17:03] And that was scream tea.
[00:17:05] We did it.
[00:17:07] Spooky stuff begins to happen.
[00:17:09] They're shaking up the bed.
[00:17:10] He runs downstairs.
[00:17:11] He tells his dad, his dad does not believe him.
[00:17:12] He's still bad dad at this point in time.
[00:17:14] Um, and.
[00:17:16] Turns out his sister.
[00:17:17] Yeah.
[00:17:17] There's just a lot of stuff going on though.
[00:17:19] It was very spooky.
[00:17:20] The next day though, they go out on into the town and, uh, there's this one guy asking
[00:17:26] the kids about some library books that grandpa had her.
[00:17:30] And the kids are like, what's your deal guy?
[00:17:32] What's your deal?
[00:17:33] That night back at grandpa's Ian is able to capture a ghost in a jar and you can have
[00:17:40] your own ghost in a jar for one payment of 1997.
[00:17:43] It's going to get shipped right to your house.
[00:17:46] That's just for 19.
[00:17:47] 97.
[00:17:48] Right.
[00:17:48] That's cheap.
[00:17:49] Yeah.
[00:17:50] Um, I'm sorry.
[00:17:51] I just heard it's two payments.
[00:17:52] It's two payments.
[00:17:53] Nope.
[00:17:53] It just went up to three.
[00:17:54] Wow.
[00:17:55] Is there any way to get rid of one of those?
[00:17:56] Like with a code?
[00:17:58] Um, harbor.
[00:18:00] What?
[00:18:01] The code is harbor.
[00:18:02] Harbor is the code.
[00:18:04] The code is harbor.
[00:18:05] Why?
[00:18:06] Well, I was thinking about, uh, that no, like heart harbing harbing harbinger.
[00:18:11] Yes.
[00:18:12] I was thinking about that word and all I got out was harbor.
[00:18:14] At least you're not having a stroke because the way it was going there, harbender, harbinger,
[00:18:19] Well, the important thing that you need to know is that two things can be true at once.
[00:18:24] And, uh, so they harbing the ghost brand using it right brands, uh, read that one's for you.
[00:18:33] Doctor is a harbinger of things to come.
[00:18:38] So, uh, they capture, capture a ghost in a jar.
[00:18:44] Um, Claire is like, what, what's going on here?
[00:18:48] What is up with this?
[00:18:49] And then suddenly coffin Ed, who is a revolutionary soldier shows up to get the ghost back.
[00:18:57] It's a ghost named jumper.
[00:18:59] Wish you would step out from that ledge, my friend.
[00:19:03] You could cut ties with all the lies you've been living in.
[00:19:07] And if you do not want to see me again, I would under-
[00:19:13] I would under-
[00:19:18] Jumper.
[00:19:20] Um, they-
[00:19:22] Also a terrible movie with Hayden Christensen.
[00:19:25] The song way better.
[00:19:26] The movie.
[00:19:27] Yeah.
[00:19:27] The song's great.
[00:19:28] So, uh, they-
[00:19:29] It's up there with Slenderman.
[00:19:30] Wow.
[00:19:31] Really?
[00:19:31] No.
[00:19:31] It doesn't.
[00:19:33] It's a lie.
[00:19:34] So they, uh, they follow Ed and other ghostly lights into this forest, which leads them to
[00:19:40] this building in the forest.
[00:19:42] And when you go inside that, you see, uh, some ghosts entering through a mirror, which
[00:19:49] leads to the afterlife.
[00:19:51] So this building is what's known as North American zone six revival center.
[00:19:56] Um, and so basically these like coffin ed and jumper, they work at the center and they
[00:20:06] help ghosts.
[00:20:07] They help find ghosts that don't want to cross over.
[00:20:10] Um, and they are the scream.
[00:20:13] This I'm sorry, not the soul patrol.
[00:20:15] The soul patrol.
[00:20:16] Could have been the scream team.
[00:20:17] They're not there.
[00:20:18] The soul patrol.
[00:20:19] And, uh, there's nothing, listen, there's nothing that we can do there.
[00:20:22] Our hands are tied.
[00:20:23] Um, so they find out that grandpa is one of these souls that doesn't want to cross
[00:20:28] over for some reason.
[00:20:29] So, uh, Ian and Claire agree to help.
[00:20:33] It might be helpful if we can, you know, maybe talk to grandpa, maybe we can convince
[00:20:37] him.
[00:20:37] And so the next day they call grandpa by his name and, um, he shows up.
[00:20:44] But while he shows up, he, we didn't see Zachariah show up behind them and he pulled in again,
[00:20:53] the details here, how important are they?
[00:20:56] But he pulls grandpa into a fireball.
[00:20:58] Yes.
[00:20:59] And you know, do with that what you will.
[00:21:01] It's pretty, pretty straightforward.
[00:21:03] Yeah.
[00:21:03] So then he throws a fireball at the kids that causes, um, that causes the curtains to catch
[00:21:10] on fire, which causes a fire alarm to go off a little bell.
[00:21:14] That's right.
[00:21:14] It would have been nice if it happened again for Christmas, but there's nothing we can
[00:21:17] do.
[00:21:18] So, uh, they go to talk to the soul patrol and Ed and jumper agree to try to help capture
[00:21:24] Zachariah.
[00:21:25] If we can capture Zachariah, maybe we can get this figured out.
[00:21:29] Save the Zachariah, save the grandpa.
[00:21:30] That's exactly right.
[00:21:31] Save all the souls.
[00:21:32] Save all the souls.
[00:21:33] Zachariah is a real bee though.
[00:21:35] You know, he's always just doing bad stuff and getting stronger and whatnot.
[00:21:39] They find them at this abandoned mine and, um, they try like sucking them up with a ghost
[00:21:46] vacuum, ghost buster style.
[00:21:48] He's too strong.
[00:21:49] It works for a second, but he's fire.
[00:21:52] I think there's nothing he could do.
[00:21:52] And we're about to lose Kat Dennings.
[00:21:54] We are because Claire gets thrown into a well.
[00:21:57] What?
[00:21:59] Who's that?
[00:22:01] What's that?
[00:22:01] What's that boy?
[00:22:02] Roof.
[00:22:03] Kat Dennings is in a well.
[00:22:04] Roof, roof.
[00:22:05] Do we need to save her?
[00:22:06] Roof, roof.
[00:22:06] Roof, roof.
[00:22:06] Do we have a rope?
[00:22:07] Roof, roof.
[00:22:08] Okay.
[00:22:08] Are you there?
[00:22:09] Roof, roof.
[00:22:10] Then why are you telling me I'm not there?
[00:22:12] Roof, roof.
[00:22:15] All right.
[00:22:16] Go save her.
[00:22:16] This rescue plot is not working.
[00:22:18] Good boy.
[00:22:20] Roof, roof, roof.
[00:22:22] Roof, roof.
[00:22:22] So, um, they, uh, they do, they are able to save Claire.
[00:22:27] Jumpers, it's a switch.
[00:22:29] Wish you was, what's that?
[00:22:30] Jumpers.
[00:22:30] It's a switch.
[00:22:31] It's a switch.
[00:22:32] Denning saved, Jumper raved.
[00:22:35] Yes.
[00:22:35] Jumper waved, bye bye, he's now in the well.
[00:22:38] That's exactly right.
[00:22:39] That's exactly right.
[00:22:40] And so, uh, that's unfortunate.
[00:22:42] I'm sure they're gonna work really hard to get him out.
[00:22:44] Well, Jumper causes a distraction.
[00:22:45] Yes.
[00:22:45] So that Zachariah isn't trying to keep Claire in the well.
[00:22:49] That's right.
[00:22:50] He gives him time to get out and then he gets Jumper.
[00:22:53] Right.
[00:22:54] And like the angry boy a bit too insane.
[00:22:56] Yeah.
[00:22:58] I, icing over the streets with pain.
[00:23:00] You know, you don't belong.
[00:23:05] Oh man, that's great.
[00:23:06] It's good stuff.
[00:23:08] Um, songs like 30 years old.
[00:23:11] Is it older than this movie though?
[00:23:13] No, it came out like probably 98.
[00:23:15] It was probably 26 years old.
[00:23:17] So, so it is older than this movie.
[00:23:19] It is older than this movie.
[00:23:20] My bad.
[00:23:20] Yeah.
[00:23:21] Uh, it's not older stuff.
[00:23:24] It's just older.
[00:23:25] I thought this movie was, I'm sorry.
[00:23:26] It's older in the sense that it's, it is older.
[00:23:29] Yes.
[00:23:29] So when, uh, it's not older, it just came out before this movie.
[00:23:33] Yeah.
[00:23:34] So do it that way.
[00:23:35] You will.
[00:23:35] So dad finds out that they're causing more trouble.
[00:23:38] They even like, there was a little bit of a fire.
[00:23:40] And he's like, yeah, degenerate assholes.
[00:23:43] Why are you doing this?
[00:23:44] Well, there was like a fire in the house that Zachariah sent to the kids obviously get blamed
[00:23:47] for.
[00:23:48] Yeah.
[00:23:48] Uh, there's a fire at the mine.
[00:23:50] So obviously they set that to, and the police arrest them.
[00:23:54] Um, and so he's like, you know what?
[00:23:55] We're going to go back to Boston tomorrow.
[00:23:57] We're going back to Boston.
[00:23:58] Whoa.
[00:23:59] And shipping up to Boston.
[00:24:01] Yes.
[00:24:01] And so they tell him the truth.
[00:24:04] They lay it all out there and he doesn't really believe them.
[00:24:08] Um, but there is a fire outside that spells out the words stay away.
[00:24:14] So the next day, dad is like, I don't really believe in this ghost stuff, but no one's going
[00:24:18] to mess with my family.
[00:24:20] And so we're staying here until I get it figured out.
[00:24:24] All right.
[00:24:25] Superhero dad, relax over there.
[00:24:26] Um, there's a festival that, um, I guess like mocks Zachariah.
[00:24:33] It's like, there was a guy that did fire.
[00:24:35] That's hilarious.
[00:24:36] And so they have like a fire fest again, different fire, not that fire.
[00:24:41] And, um, yeah, I am confused about the whole festival.
[00:24:45] They paint Zachariah as this bad guy who burned down the town.
[00:24:50] And so I thought maybe they were doing like a spooky festival.
[00:24:53] It is weird.
[00:24:54] But then the festival is just a carnival.
[00:24:56] Yeah. Yes.
[00:24:56] But there is a festival after a terrible human being.
[00:24:59] Yeah. I think the, a one like tip of the hat is the fire, the bonfire.
[00:25:06] Fire that they have.
[00:25:07] And then there's like a little fire.
[00:25:08] Yeah.
[00:25:08] I mean, the whole movie is there like leading up to it.
[00:25:11] I thought it was going to be not like a fun carnival, but like almost like a haunted
[00:25:16] house type attraction, like a spooky attraction that you bring people to.
[00:25:20] And it's just your standard like fall carnival.
[00:25:23] Um, and I don't understand the marketing there and that's maybe why it's not a bigger
[00:25:27] deal.
[00:25:28] So Claire and Ian have figured out that this one guy, um, that I forgot to write down his
[00:25:34] name, Marshall or something like that.
[00:25:36] Uh, window, window, no, Colin, Colin, yeah, Wendell.
[00:25:41] Um, the guy that was asking about the library books, they're like, Hey, those are probably
[00:25:46] important.
[00:25:47] They break into his house.
[00:25:48] They find these books underneath his, um, uh, bed.
[00:25:53] They take them back and it's basically the full real history of Zachariah books that their
[00:25:59] grandfather had.
[00:26:00] Yes.
[00:26:01] Yeah.
[00:26:01] Yeah.
[00:26:02] And then when turned, yes.
[00:26:03] And so took, took because Wendell, um, wants Zachariah to be this villain.
[00:26:10] Right.
[00:26:10] And so these books hold the real truth about Zachariah, which, um, is basically that he
[00:26:16] just like was an inventor that, uh, discovered that natural gas can cause fire and whatnot.
[00:26:24] And it got away from him.
[00:26:25] It got away from him.
[00:26:26] Which happens.
[00:26:27] Yes.
[00:26:27] But he didn't purposely burn down his house.
[00:26:30] He actually loved his wife a lot.
[00:26:33] Yeah.
[00:26:33] And he was just experimenting with natural gas and it went awry.
[00:26:36] And that is why whenever you're experimenting with natural gas, you got to do it in your
[00:26:41] house.
[00:26:41] Don't do it.
[00:26:41] He wouldn't have known that.
[00:26:43] That's true.
[00:26:44] I mean, like he's doing the best he can just on that.
[00:26:46] Never thought if he should, he was just wondering if he could, you know, that's exactly
[00:26:52] right.
[00:26:52] Like Jurassic Park.
[00:26:53] That's right.
[00:26:54] They didn't know the dinosaurs were going to kill him.
[00:26:56] How would you know?
[00:26:57] You can't.
[00:26:58] I wonder if we could.
[00:26:59] You can't.
[00:27:00] They're not stopping to think, should we make a T-Rex?
[00:27:02] Yes.
[00:27:03] Could we?
[00:27:03] Could we?
[00:27:04] Let's do that first.
[00:27:05] Yes.
[00:27:06] So trouble.
[00:27:08] So they, what said, maybe, maybe.
[00:27:12] So they run to the festival and data that says that it does when they get there, Zachariah
[00:27:18] has now taken over the bonfire and he's like looming over everybody.
[00:27:23] He's throwing fireballs again.
[00:27:24] Throwing fireballs left and right.
[00:27:25] Yeah, he is.
[00:27:26] And it's at this point that they are like, hey, we know the truth.
[00:27:30] Here's a newspaper article.
[00:27:32] Here's your, your wife.
[00:27:33] Remember her?
[00:27:33] She's waiting on you.
[00:27:35] And he's like, what, my wife?
[00:27:38] What?
[00:27:39] Sorry, Borat.
[00:27:41] My wife.
[00:27:42] My wife.
[00:27:42] My wife.
[00:27:43] Get me out of here.
[00:27:45] That's not anymore close to Borat.
[00:27:47] It's not bad.
[00:27:49] Are you a magician?
[00:27:50] Yes.
[00:27:51] I'm a catabra.
[00:27:52] Borat disappeared.
[00:27:54] Now you're left with me.
[00:27:56] Do you remember when Paul Green kept saying my wife like it was the funniest thing in
[00:27:59] the world?
[00:28:00] Yeah, it was.
[00:28:01] Oh, man.
[00:28:01] It was funny.
[00:28:02] So funny.
[00:28:03] It was blowing his harmonica.
[00:28:04] It was funny.
[00:28:05] And so he realizes that he has been goofing.
[00:28:12] He's been goofing for too long.
[00:28:14] Yeah.
[00:28:14] And it's time for him to be reunited with his wife.
[00:28:17] So he flies into the mirror and they kiss, which you could have played that.
[00:28:20] Guys, for those of you playing at home, don't throw out the kiss card.
[00:28:24] Hold on to it.
[00:28:25] Hold on to it is all we're saying.
[00:28:27] Yeah.
[00:28:27] So they cross over finally.
[00:28:29] Yes.
[00:28:29] And releases all of the spirits that he is trapped and all that stuff.
[00:28:34] So.
[00:28:34] And grandfather crosses over immediately.
[00:28:36] No, no.
[00:28:37] They actually get back to their house and grandfather is sitting there and he's like,
[00:28:43] great work, everybody.
[00:28:45] And also, son, I want you to know that all these years of me ignoring you, I just thought
[00:28:51] that you are better than me.
[00:28:53] Basically, like you could do so much better than hanging out with your old man.
[00:28:57] So that's why I never let you.
[00:28:59] Well, the kids thank him for helping them solve the Zachariah mystery because they're
[00:29:03] like, yeah, you knocked those library books off the shelf.
[00:29:06] And that's how we found out that Zachariah wasn't a bad guy.
[00:29:08] And grandpa's just like, I didn't do that on purpose.
[00:29:11] I wanted your dad to find the box of photos behind the books.
[00:29:15] So like, I guess cool for you.
[00:29:17] But son, I am proud of you.
[00:29:19] I am.
[00:29:19] Interstellar still from this movie.
[00:29:21] It's yet.
[00:29:21] I think they did.
[00:29:22] Disney stealing from Disney.
[00:29:23] I don't think interstellar.
[00:29:25] Who can say really?
[00:29:26] Warner Brothers, but that's fine.
[00:29:27] Yes.
[00:29:28] But what you don't know is Warner was originally a Disney.
[00:29:31] Fred Warner.
[00:29:31] That's right.
[00:29:31] He's a Warner from the Disney.
[00:29:33] He left the family business and now he's a Warner bro.
[00:29:36] Yeah.
[00:29:37] But like adopted into the family.
[00:29:39] Yeah, of course.
[00:29:39] It's actually a really beautiful story.
[00:29:41] That's right.
[00:29:41] It should be made into a movie.
[00:29:43] Maybe a future decum.
[00:29:44] Who would distribute it though?
[00:29:46] Universal.
[00:29:47] Oh man.
[00:29:51] So they're like, you need to get out of here, grandpa.
[00:29:54] And he's like, eternity can wait.
[00:29:56] I'm going to talk to my son now.
[00:29:58] Let's go play catch.
[00:29:59] We have a couple of hours to chat.
[00:30:02] And so the next day, Ian and Claire, they go back and they visit the soul patrol and
[00:30:08] they find out, you know, Jumper and Ed and then they're still hanging out, which is nice.
[00:30:14] It's nice.
[00:30:15] It's nice.
[00:30:16] It's nice.
[00:30:19] And then dad, they go back to their house and they're working on the pumpkin invention
[00:30:23] again and dad comes over and he's like, I can help you.
[00:30:26] And he makes the whole thing work.
[00:30:29] And pumpkin guts.
[00:30:30] They're going to stay in town.
[00:30:31] They're not going back to Boston.
[00:30:32] That's right.
[00:30:33] And pumpkin guts go everywhere, but not on Ed because no, nothing can hit him.
[00:30:38] He's a ghost.
[00:30:39] Scream team.
[00:30:40] Scream team.
[00:30:41] That's it.
[00:30:42] So we do it.
[00:30:43] We did it.
[00:30:44] How about we do this?
[00:30:45] Let's take a break.
[00:30:46] We'll come back.
[00:30:46] We will talk about our thoughts on it.
[00:30:49] We'll rank it.
[00:30:50] We'll do all that good stuff here on D. Com.
[00:30:53] Descendants.
[00:30:59] I don't like that.
[00:31:03] Wrong music.
[00:31:05] Welcome back.
[00:31:05] There it is.
[00:31:06] Hi, everybody.
[00:31:08] Welcome back to D. Com.
[00:31:10] Descendants.
[00:31:10] I'm a little lost.
[00:31:11] Can you help me?
[00:31:12] D. Com.
[00:31:13] D is delish.
[00:31:14] C is com chat.
[00:31:15] That's right.
[00:31:15] What's the O stand for?
[00:31:17] Opinions.
[00:31:18] No, I'm sorry.
[00:31:19] Overtime.
[00:31:20] Overtime.
[00:31:21] In which we share our opinions.
[00:31:23] Yes, but it's different.
[00:31:24] How they changed over time, in which case we...
[00:31:28] Opinions.
[00:31:28] Yes.
[00:31:29] I do have some reviews of this movie on Letterboxd if you'd like them.
[00:31:33] I would love them.
[00:31:33] Okay, guys.
[00:31:34] Don't really jump on that one.
[00:31:35] We should call the show The D. Com Descendants.
[00:31:39] Delish.
[00:31:39] Com chat.
[00:31:41] Letterboxd reviews.
[00:31:43] Overtime making the list.
[00:31:44] Yes, the D. Com Descendants.
[00:31:44] Well, these reviews are just other people's opinions.
[00:31:46] Yes, D. Com.
[00:31:47] The D. Com Descendants.
[00:31:48] D. Com Descendants.
[00:31:48] It's more like D. Com.
[00:31:50] That's right.
[00:31:51] Yeah.
[00:31:51] No, there's no L. It's just...
[00:31:53] Letterboxd reviews.
[00:31:54] No, it's their opinions.
[00:31:55] Yeah, but I like Letterboxd reviews.
[00:31:57] D. Com.
[00:31:57] I like D. Com.
[00:31:58] D. Com.
[00:31:59] D. Com.
[00:32:02] Pudge.
[00:32:02] Pudge.
[00:32:02] Pudge's opinions over time making your list.
[00:32:04] D. Com.
[00:32:05] Pudge says three stars.
[00:32:08] Kat Dennings and a D. Com is automatically a masterpiece in type books.
[00:32:12] And that's all that matters.
[00:32:14] Calm down over there.
[00:32:14] All right, Pudge.
[00:32:15] Relax.
[00:32:17] Adolfo says two stars.
[00:32:19] Imagine you die and you still need to wait in line to fill out paperwork.
[00:32:23] That's terrifying.
[00:32:24] That is...
[00:32:25] Cody B.
[00:32:26] Cody B. 13 says two and a half stars.
[00:32:29] They never call themselves the Scream Team.
[00:32:31] Not once.
[00:32:32] Not once.
[00:32:32] Not once.
[00:32:33] Soul Patrol?
[00:32:34] A dozen times.
[00:32:35] Boss Baby Fan.
[00:32:37] Ooh.
[00:32:38] Shout out.
[00:32:39] Shout out.
[00:32:40] Shout out.
[00:32:40] Says two stars.
[00:32:41] Nothing better than after going on my ghost adventure I get to wear my dead people rock shirt.
[00:32:47] If anybody knows where I can get that shirt, please hook a brother up.
[00:32:51] Hunter McCann says...
[00:32:53] Hook a brother up.
[00:32:53] Hook a brother up.
[00:32:54] Says one and a half stars.
[00:32:56] For one beautiful moment I thought Joaquin Phoenix was in this.
[00:32:59] I don't know why, but shout out to Hunter.
[00:33:02] That's a tough day.
[00:33:02] And then Riz says half a star.
[00:33:06] They don't make them like this anymore.
[00:33:08] Thank God.
[00:33:10] Let's share our thoughts on this movie.
[00:33:13] I will start with you, Aaron.
[00:33:14] Aaron, you vaguely remembered this movie when we started it, but now that you've seen it,
[00:33:20] what are your thoughts on it?
[00:33:21] Yeah.
[00:33:22] I'm a little sad this is a movie that I haven't seen since 2002 compared to some of the other Halloween ones.
[00:33:29] Like this is, this is kind of what I'm looking for in a Halloween decom.
[00:33:32] Like there's a silly aspect, a little bit of hijinks, but there is like a spooky story here.
[00:33:39] Um, I think it nails the spooky storyline a bit better than Phantom of the Megaplex does.
[00:33:45] Oh boy.
[00:33:45] I'm not saying it's a better movie than Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:33:48] I'm just saying like, like the villain is actually scary.
[00:33:52] Like this is a movie that if I was watching, like, this is kind of what I want.
[00:33:54] I want to be spooky movie than Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:33:57] Yes.
[00:33:57] It does the spooky better.
[00:33:59] Um, if I was watching this lights off on Halloween, like this is what I want.
[00:34:04] I want to be scared, but not too scared.
[00:34:06] And that's what this movie is perfect for.
[00:34:08] I thought it was great.
[00:34:09] A good cast of characters.
[00:34:11] The dad has a little bit of a redemption arc, which is always good to see in a decom father.
[00:34:15] Um, yeah, I had a good time here.
[00:34:17] We'll watch this movie again.
[00:34:19] We'll watch again.
[00:34:20] Um, yeah, this movie kind of slaps.
[00:34:22] It's a sneaky slapper.
[00:34:23] I gotta be honest with you.
[00:34:25] Uh, great cast.
[00:34:26] Um, a movie that clearly has a very, um, interesting, uh, direction behind it.
[00:34:36] Like there's lots of camera stuff that we just don't see in these movies.
[00:34:40] Um, which most of them I thought were really cool.
[00:34:44] Some unnecessary, but most cool.
[00:34:46] Um, some, you know, a CGI that wasn't awful for the time for sure.
[00:34:56] I mean, they were really like, it is 2002 and we're using every special effect.
[00:35:02] How much did this movie cost?
[00:35:03] Like they were doing a lot of CGI.
[00:35:05] They were doing a lot of shots.
[00:35:06] The amount of money they spent on fire effects alone.
[00:35:09] Yeah.
[00:35:09] Ton of fire effects.
[00:35:10] Ton of fire effects.
[00:35:11] So, um, the movie overall, uh, worked for me surprisingly.
[00:35:15] And it also hit me at the right time, you know, with Halloween, um, right here, it was
[00:35:21] the perfect time to watch this movie, which was nice that it worked out this way.
[00:35:25] We didn't actually plan the entire launch of the podcast to, you know, we did.
[00:35:29] We didn't.
[00:35:30] We didn't.
[00:35:31] Seasonal stuff.
[00:35:32] It just worked out that way.
[00:35:33] It just worked out that way.
[00:35:34] So good for us and good for the movie.
[00:35:36] Uh, a, a sneaky surprise for brand Dan.
[00:35:40] Yeah.
[00:35:40] I'm with these two.
[00:35:42] Uh, this movie is really a lot of fun.
[00:35:44] I mean, I don't know.
[00:35:46] The cast is great.
[00:35:47] Eric Idle, Tommy Davidson, uh, Kathy Najimy, uh, Kat Dennings.
[00:35:52] The cast is amazing.
[00:35:54] The, the scares are fun.
[00:35:55] They're fun scares.
[00:35:57] Uh, it's a fun plot.
[00:35:59] It goes by really quickly.
[00:36:01] I laughed.
[00:36:02] I was intrigued by what the plot was, even though you kind of knew what was going to happen.
[00:36:06] You get a redemption arc for the dad or redemption arc for the villain.
[00:36:09] I don't know what's not to like here.
[00:36:11] I, the, the camera work, the direct, like the directorial choices are not bland.
[00:36:15] They're interesting.
[00:36:17] The effects are fun.
[00:36:18] This is like, if you were 10, 11, 12, this would have been perfect.
[00:36:23] I, I, I just, there's a lot to really like here.
[00:36:27] Uh, underrated gym here.
[00:36:29] I feel like we found brand and the, and the, the rankings are interesting here.
[00:36:33] I'll say that.
[00:36:33] It's going to be interesting.
[00:36:34] It is going to be interesting.
[00:36:35] And an interesting thing about this director who we talked about is this isn't going to be his last D-com.
[00:36:41] And it seems like he got kind of, uh, typecasted with his directing.
[00:36:45] Cause he does twitches, twitches to girl versus monster.
[00:36:49] He has some other stuff like full court miracle and whatnot.
[00:36:51] So he does.
[00:36:52] He's a lot of D-coms.
[00:36:54] Going to the mat is also going.
[00:36:55] Going to the mat is a D-com.
[00:36:56] I love going to the mat.
[00:36:58] I remember liking it.
[00:36:59] I don't know for sure.
[00:37:00] Um, so I, uh, good for him and a good for us because I actually, uh, this movie at least stood out visually.
[00:37:08] Yes.
[00:37:08] Which, uh, is, uh, which was nice.
[00:37:10] Let's make our list.
[00:37:11] Let's see where this movie is going to land.
[00:37:12] Is it going to land in any of our top tens and have our top tens changed?
[00:37:15] That is what we're going to find out right now.
[00:37:17] Aaron, where do you have this one?
[00:37:20] Uh, this one is going to premiere in my top 10.
[00:37:23] Um, I'm not a hundred percent sure if this is where it's going to be forever.
[00:37:28] I, you can probably tell on this podcast, I'm not feeling my best today.
[00:37:32] My head is a little fuzzy, but you're giving it your best.
[00:37:35] I'm giving it my best.
[00:37:36] That's all that matters.
[00:37:36] Um, and if I've learned anything from got to kick it up, it's not necessarily being the best.
[00:37:40] It's being my best.
[00:37:40] And that's what I am today, but I will probably go home, take some medicine and I will think about
[00:37:47] this movie and it's ranking for a few more days.
[00:37:49] But right now it's going to premiere in the top tens.
[00:37:51] So we'll just go ahead with the list.
[00:37:53] Um, number 10, we have luck of the Irish.
[00:37:56] Xenon is out of the top 10.
[00:37:59] Wow.
[00:38:00] Shout out to Xenon.
[00:38:01] RIP obviously.
[00:38:03] Unbelievable.
[00:38:04] But it is what it is.
[00:38:05] Zetus Lapidus.
[00:38:06] 9, Halloween Town.
[00:38:08] 8, Scream Team.
[00:38:10] 7, Get a Clue.
[00:38:12] 6, Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:38:13] 5, Smart House.
[00:38:15] 4, Miracle in Lane.
[00:38:16] 2, 3, Johnny Tsunami.
[00:38:18] 2, Cadet Kelly.
[00:38:19] 1, Motocrossed.
[00:38:21] And I would like to say, I think Scream Team would be higher on my list if the name of
[00:38:27] the team in the movie was Scream Team.
[00:38:29] It hurts it.
[00:38:30] But it loses a couple points by calling themselves so many times, Soul Patrol.
[00:38:36] Yeah.
[00:38:37] Yeah.
[00:38:37] But the name of the movie is Scream Team.
[00:38:39] It was an easy fix.
[00:38:40] It was an easy fix.
[00:38:41] So I did look it up.
[00:38:43] I tried to find if there was something in the editing.
[00:38:46] Do you think it was just too scary and they wanted to be the good guys to be the Soul Patrol?
[00:38:48] I don't know.
[00:38:48] I do know that this movie was intended to be a backdoor pilot for a TV show that never got
[00:38:52] off the ground.
[00:38:54] I don't know what they would have done there.
[00:38:55] Would it still be Scream Team with the Soul Patrol?
[00:38:58] But...
[00:38:58] Fascinating.
[00:38:59] I think I did something similar in my rankings that you did, but I'm going to wait for my
[00:39:02] turn.
[00:39:02] Brandon, where do you have this?
[00:39:04] I also have it at number 10, but I'm also going to say it's probably not going to end
[00:39:09] up staying there.
[00:39:09] It could bounce around a little bit.
[00:39:11] It kicked out Double Teamed, which hurt me to my core.
[00:39:14] Good God.
[00:39:15] But it is number 10.
[00:39:17] And apparently 10, 9, and 8, all Halloween movies.
[00:39:20] Number 9, Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:39:22] 8, Mom's Got a Date.
[00:39:23] 7, Luck of the Irish.
[00:39:24] 6, Smart House.
[00:39:25] 5, Cadet Kelly.
[00:39:26] 4, Get a Clue.
[00:39:27] 3, Motocross.
[00:39:28] 2, Johnny Thunami.
[00:39:30] And number 1, this one's for you, Doctor.
[00:39:31] The Greatest Movie of All Time, Brink.
[00:39:33] Your list is a riot brand.
[00:39:36] Thank you.
[00:39:36] Here's what I'm starting to realize.
[00:39:37] And this is fun for me, but I can only imagine the burden that you two feel because there
[00:39:43] are like legit DCOM classics that are just not in the list anymore.
[00:39:47] Yep.
[00:39:47] Like on the outs of my list, Smart House, Luck of the Irish, Twas the Night, Quince.
[00:39:54] Those movies aren't on my top 10 anymore.
[00:39:57] Mm-hmm.
[00:39:57] And all of those movies are like, you got Kimberly J. Brown, you got Smart House, Luck of the Irish,
[00:40:03] Twas the Night.
[00:40:03] These are big time movies and they're not even in the top 10 anymore.
[00:40:08] So Scream Team is definitely in my list.
[00:40:10] And what I did was I went, was that better than Halloween Town?
[00:40:14] Yes, it was.
[00:40:15] Uh-huh.
[00:40:15] So then I went to my list, I found Halloween Town, I put it in the spot closer to the top
[00:40:20] from Halloween Town and then I compared it to all the other movies and said, it's better
[00:40:24] than Halloween Town.
[00:40:25] Is it better than any of the rest of these?
[00:40:26] And I could not with a good conscience say it was.
[00:40:28] So it ended up right by Halloween Town.
[00:40:31] My top 10.
[00:40:32] Now at number 10, Bran, Brink.
[00:40:36] This is scary.
[00:40:38] Brink at number 10.
[00:40:39] Nine, Miracle in Lane 2.
[00:40:40] In order for things to work out good for me, no other movie in the next 100 movies or whatever
[00:40:46] it is is going to end up in your top 10.
[00:40:48] So I mean, I will say, the last few weeks I've been debating Brink and Miracle in Lane 2 quite
[00:40:54] a bit.
[00:40:55] So it could still pop up.
[00:40:58] There's still hope.
[00:41:00] Eight, Halloween Town.
[00:41:01] Seven, Scream Team.
[00:41:03] Six, Get a Clue.
[00:41:04] Five, Cadet Kelly.
[00:41:06] Four, Phantom of the Megaplex.
[00:41:07] Three, Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire.
[00:41:09] Two, Johnny Tsunami.
[00:41:10] Number one DCOM by far still, Motocross.
[00:41:14] Motocrossed.
[00:41:15] No question about it.
[00:41:17] I was sent a video, Riley.
[00:41:22] Last name is, I'm sorry guys.
[00:41:24] The guy from Motocross.
[00:41:25] I was sent a video, Riley.
[00:41:27] Riley, whatever his last name is, who plays D on Motocross.
[00:41:29] He was on Will and Sabrina's podcast.
[00:41:32] Of course he was.
[00:41:33] Our rival.
[00:41:34] And he was talking about how like it is still one of the most recognizable roles he's
[00:41:39] ever had.
[00:41:40] And he still has the costume.
[00:41:42] And he was like, Will was like, you should.
[00:41:45] Can he put it on for us?
[00:41:46] And Will was like, you should wear that for Halloween.
[00:41:48] And I guess like soon after filming Motocross, he was in a movie with Eric Von Dutton.
[00:41:54] And he was like, we would walk down the street and it would cause like a mob.
[00:41:58] Like people would do what to do with themselves.
[00:42:00] And I thought that was funny.
[00:42:01] And when people talk about the good old days, that's what they're talking about.
[00:42:08] We're Riley.
[00:42:09] What's his name?
[00:42:09] And Eric Von Dutton.
[00:42:11] Sorry, guys.
[00:42:13] The video of Riley.
[00:42:15] I don't know his last name.
[00:42:16] That's right.
[00:42:16] I'm going to go home and go to bed.
[00:42:17] I'm going to take some medicine and go to bed and be back better than ever next week for.
[00:42:21] Decom.
[00:42:22] You wish, which I'm pretty excited about.
[00:42:25] You wish friend from even Stevens and then Miranda.
[00:42:29] Yeah.
[00:42:30] And then.
[00:42:33] Spencer's dress.
[00:42:33] Yeah.
[00:42:34] I was going to say beans, Aaron, Garin again.
[00:42:36] I think it's Spencer's wrestling.
[00:42:38] Yeah.
[00:42:38] Excited about that one.
[00:42:39] It's going to be a lot of fun.
[00:42:40] We'll be back next time with another one.
