[00:00:03] This is a Bramble Jam Podcast
[00:00:43] We have a bunch of new reviews, Bram Are a lot of them asking for the DCOM Daily Minute? Because I got some news today that I'd love to share This is not the DCOM Daily Minute, so I don't think so So you don't want me to share the news? I want you to share the news I would love for you to... It's about Christy Carlson Romano Well, that's not news today, like we've known about her getting shot We didn't talk, it's within last week and today Okay, so it's not, but it's not even current at this point Like I even want... That's exactly what I'm talking about If we had something every day, it'd be worth mentioning It's not worth mentioning now
[00:01:13] That's what I'm talking about, you're making my point But my point is that we don't have that and we don't need it, it's fine Oh, it's fine? It's fine How about those reviews? There's a review five days ago from Mariel Abbott Oh, don't even read it, it's five days ago Okay No, I want to know what Mariel said Mariel says, let's get to 300, love this podcast Even though I grew up without Disney Channel and have only seen a couple of the movies Thank you, Mariel
[00:01:41] Also, Dana Lee L Dana Lee L Dana Lee L Her title is Need DECOM Daily Minutes Love this show Shout out to Aaron and the Delish segment Shout out Shout out Thank you, Dana Lee L And then the rest of them I think are just five star ratings Because we still got a 4.9 How about that? We're up to 155 Aaron, how would you handle the Daily Dish? Oh, we're not doing a Daily Dish
[00:02:10] You're not doing a Something food related for every DECOM Daily Minute? How dare you? Let's just say hypothetically Who do you think you are? We do this And Christy Carlson Romano got shot in the eye What snack are you bringing? Like this is fun We brainstorm it We think it through You bring in bullseyes You bring in those caramel bullseyes That's easy I wasn't thinking that But yeah, that sounds great She was out and now she's back in Now she's kind of thinking it's fun
[00:02:48] I'm not in If I have to bake something every morning No I need a raise Part out But also, even with a raise you wouldn't do it I don't think No I think this show What this show needs to help the old YouTube algorithm is We need to dress up in theme every week I think we need to get out ahead of it And watch some of these And then we all dress up every week I'm here for that I'm in So like what would you
[00:03:18] What would you do for this week? I'd be a boat I could be a boat I mean you guys have We actually have flight You have flight gear? Yeah, we could do that We could have done that today We could have done that flight gear We could have done it today Should we pause? No That's a different branch though This is Navy This is Navy But there are people flying I know But it's confusing We're talking Tiger Cruise today everybody Which I'm really excited about And I gotta be honest I can't wait to find out What Aaron brought
[00:03:47] For the Tiger Cruise themed Delish So why wait any longer? It's time for Delish It's where Aaron brings something For us to eat or drink That is in some way Themed to the movie And if you haven't watched a movie This is great You get these And you eat it And you watch the movie And then you come and listen to the show It's a lot of fun Aaron What do we have today For the Delish? Yeah So today we have a recipe Straight from the Hershey's cookbook Oh Okay
[00:04:16] They're called Tiger Cookies Oh Okay Interesting So the tie-in is just the word tiger Got it That's good enough Got it It's a good tie-in Tie-in For sure So So what is it? It's a chocolate cookie They're warm And then you roll it in some powdered sugar Okay And then the recipe says If you would like You can put a Hershey Kiss on top I would like While they're still warm from the oven So it gets all gooey in the center I would like And I did like So
[00:04:46] You did like So why is it tiger? Does it explain? None of this looks like a tiger Yeah So Depending on how It bakes in the oven Some of them do Like when the top crumbles a little bit The powdered sugar Forms like lines So it looks like a tiger Dance? Is that a dance? Oh my gosh It's really good This is exactly what I needed right now It's unfortunately good It's a really good cookie
[00:05:16] What'd you bring last week? What movie was it? I don't know Okay I would like it Last week was the moon pie Was the moon pie last week? The moon pie is the best thing you've ever made No Moon pie was two weeks ago Last week was something I didn't like Last week was something you didn't like at all Oh it was the banana split The banana split thing Yeah The moon pie is still the best But this is really good So this is just standard chocolate cookie Powdered sugar Hershey Kiss on top To melt if you will And we will
[00:05:45] And we will It's a tiger cookie Tiger cookie Tiger cookie Great bring Great bring Great find Do those stripes? Oh that's the Tiger Classic Tiger Tiger cookie situation Really excited having a tiger cruise We're gonna do that on the other side of the break So come on back Go get yourself a tiger cookie Come on back We'll talk tiger cruise Here on Decom Descendants Thanks Erin Welcome She's done for the day She did her thing She's good
[00:06:17] Welcome back everybody It's Decom Descendants Bray and Aaron Dan We're here We're talking tiger cruise We're eating our tiger cookies I think it's gonna be a lot of fun today Oh for sure I mean if you've seen the movie I think you know what we're getting into here And if you've not And you just listened to the show You need to know right now I'm not gonna do to you What these two Co-hosts of mine did to me And I'm gonna tell you right now This movie's about 9-11
[00:06:45] This is a children's movie in 2004 Where children process in real time The events of 9-11 On a ship As it's happening As the attacks on the trade center There is a content warning in the episode description Oh awesome Fantastic It works out well But that's what this is And we're here to Yuck it up and have some fun Yeah I don't know if I would've like Surprised anyone else But for you Yeah Yeah It was just worth your reaction Yes They surprised me With 9-11 That's right
[00:07:14] 24 years later Tiger Cruise August 6th It's called Tiger Cruise too It seems like it's gonna be Like a fun jungle movie An August 6th premiere Which is Oh the day before my birthday But I don't know Like wouldn't it make more sense To just hold it a month I mean yeah September when you're like Kids are doing a lot of like In 2004 You're already prepping for your 9-11 Like remembrance celebrations In 2004 I know we are getting to the Yeah I don't know why
[00:07:44] Labor Day's right around there too We are getting to the end Of the 2004 We are They didn't do that Yeah Yeah So I don't know Maybe they held it as long As they thought they could This is Is this the last one of Because now you Now you see me's next Oh Halloween Town Is next So they had to do Halloween Town High Yes Yeah Yeah This is directed by A veteran Of the DCOMs Dwayne Dunham Dwayne about Drowning I'm drowning That's right Only We'll only see Dwayne
[00:08:13] One more time That's it In a couple of weeks Actually When now you See it Which is exciting But you will You know him obviously From right on Right on track One of Aaron's Double teamed Ready to run 13th year Halloween Town The OG Did not bring him back For Halloween Town High Which we'll get to next week But that's Dwayne Dwayne's a big deal But we're getting to the end Of Dwayne's Decon That's about Dwayne That's exactly right It's almost Dwayne All the way Did he like go on To do other things Or was this kind of The end of his career
[00:08:43] Let's see He did Star Wars The Clone Wars Two episodes People freaking love that He did 18 episodes Of Twin Peaks The Return Okay And then nothing And then nothing So He took a long break After Now You See It Unless Yeah Is Now You See It A Magician Okay good There's no real twist there There's no Okay good But it has Ali Mashaka Yes Okay that doesn't mean Anything to me That's fine
[00:09:13] Ali from Ali and AJ Okay it still doesn't Mean anything to me Oh boy Though I'm 34 years old And I will tell you That I still Am not 100% sure Which one's Ali And which one's AJ Ali's the one with The career Okay Okay great She was on Hallmark Was she? What'd she do on Hallmark? Did she do a Hallmark movie? She did the beach movie With the pier That you all hated Yes Oh I tried to Michael Murray I tried to block that out Because of how much I love Ali
[00:09:43] Man You know it's bad If I try to block it Actively Yeah I also She had a CW show Hellcats Yes Hellcats Shout out to Hellcats Hellcats was about Cheerleaders Good job I do remember that Thought you were going to Fool me there This movie is starring Hayden Panettiere Cats from Hell Tiger Cruz is starring Hayden Panettiere They saved the cheerleaders The TV show about Pearl Harbor And Bill Pullman Is also in this movie Yeah he is
[00:10:13] Bill Effing Pullman Is in this movie Yep To bring the gravitas So Maddie Is I mean if you have someone If you need someone To give a speech Your top two choices Are like him Or Morgan Freeman I mean to be fair This is going to sound Like it is Tone deaf But if in 96 When he gave the Independence Day speech If you told him You're giving this speech And it's become this thing And in five years There's going to be A mass tragedy In our country
[00:10:43] And they're going to For kids to understand it They're going to bring you in We need you To give another speech Your country needs you Bill He would have been like You're crazy Like would have been Absolute But that's what happened The only reason He's in this movie Is because He's the president That gave the speech In Independence Day And now Three years after 9-11 We're bringing in old Bill There's no one I trust more To fire you up To fire you up That's right Dan who do you want To speech from more Bill Pullman Or Martin Sheen
[00:11:13] Martin Sheen Yeah Martin Sheen West Wing No question But like Ian McShane Morgan Freeman All of those Sign me up Charles Dutton Weirdly enough Great speech giver Would Martin Sheen Be your favorite TV Or movie president I'd have to think about that But it's going to be hard To beat Martin Sheen Bartlett And West Wing I mean Because he's just so Normal Yeah And like right now Thinking about What's that like I know What's normal Thinking about normal Is crazy I just So
[00:11:43] Maddie is about To go visit her dad I was crying I was podcasting Maddie Well let's just talk About 9-11 So you don't cry Yeah Maddie is about Maddie is about To go visit her dad Who is in the Navy To join him On what is called The Tiger Cruise That's right Hence the title Of this movie Tiger Cruise It is where Family members Go and visit Members of the military That are on ships And what not It's Tiger Cruise Her mom Doesn't really Understand why She wants to go This year Because
[00:12:13] They have Asked her If she wants To go On all the Other previous Tiger Cruises And she has Said no But this year She's in She asked Yes Like can I go And mom tries To get more Information out of her And she's like Shove off mom You wouldn't get it You understand So she's doing well We then meet A few other kids Tony Tony Who is He's a bit Really into drumming We actually meet A lot of kids Most of which
[00:12:41] Have little to no Desire to go On the Tiger Cruise Yeah I mean That's the most Far-fetched part Of this movie Is the kids In this movie Are not By and large Are not excited About going On an actual Naval airship And hanging out On the ship I just I couldn't get past That early in this movie How many of these kids Are like This sucks Yeah I will say There was Like a couple years
[00:13:11] Where I did Girl Scouts And my brother Did Boy Scouts And when he was A Tiger Cub They got to go Tour Like a retired Navy Yeah Ship And I didn't get to go I was at that age Where like You get dragged To all your brother's Activities And he gets dragged To all yours But I didn't get Dragged to this one And I was so upset Yeah Because it sounded So cool And as a Girl Scout We I don't know Sell cookies Sure But then I didn't even sell cookies Add to that The fact that your Family member
[00:13:41] Is on the ship Yeah Like what kid Is like F this noise I want to be on An Aval Nair ship I get to go On a cruise in Hawaii Yeah Or wherever they are San Diego It's filmed in San Diego They were in Hawaii I believe Thank you Despite the fact that Maddie is asking To go It's clear she doesn't Really want to be there Tony doesn't really Want to be there He's going to visit His brother All he really wants To do is drum He's big into drumming There's a younger Kid named Joey Played by Hayden Parentier's
[00:14:11] Brother Little brother And he's there To visit his mom And then another girl Named Tina Tina is the only one Who seems genuinely Excited about The Tiger cruise She really wants To be in the Navy Just like her Big sister And is really Excited to spend She is spouting off Facts about the Navy And the ship And how many Plains And what She's got all the Stats memorized So many stats She is who Everyone Every kid would be On that boat Aside from the stats Like that's That's how all The kids would be
[00:14:40] You would think so Tiger cruise Tiger cruise I gotta go Go out to sea With my parents On a naval airship And as Hayden's little sister In the movie says There's free soft serve Every day So I don't understand Why these kids are like I wish I was doing Anything else It's 24 hours a day Unlimited free soft serve Ice cream Which I just can't believe The Navy's offering Like what is our budget For the military It's unlimited It's unlimited That's before Ice cream alone I mean have they Considered When they're doing
[00:15:10] All their budget cuts Now have they Considered the Soft serve budget Yeah Have they considered Surely there's not Still unlimited Soft serve right Like that had Oh I bet There is How much does that cost I don't know Yeah Probably not even A line item There's unlimited I know there's Unlimited ice cream At the Billy Graham Place up in North Carolina I was pretty pumped About that When we had a retreat There Ridgecrest Yeah Yeah Yeah Unlimited I mean I know Like Royal Caribbean Cruises also have Unlimited Okay So like The cruises Yeah that's the Holy You're paying
[00:15:40] Billy Graham Cruises 9-11 The military We get a little Title thing that says September 9th 2001 And that's when Dan Realized uh oh Here we go Yes And they all hop On a plane Dan said don't tell me Don't tell me you're Doing this to me And I said well We are Buckle up bud Sorry They all had You should know by now I shouldn't have Known this by now No but you should know That we would We would have done that Correct Yes Still You shouldn't Question us That's well They're all heading
[00:16:10] Towards the Ship And they get on board And they all meet Their family Or see their families Again and it's a whole Thing Tina is very confused As to why Maddie Isn't more excited About the cruise And her dad is also Confused as to why She finally decided That she wanted to be On Tiger Cruise And Maddie's not Give not shown her hand Yet She's just kind of like I'm just you know I'm here I don't want to talk About it Also to be noted Bill Pullman Maddie's dad Could not
[00:16:39] Be less inclined To spend time With his daughter Like literally Is like Gives her a hug I can't even Walk you to your room I've got things to do When he shows up Again He's not the captain But he's something He's like a big He's big up there But he literally The next time you see him He's in a different outfit He literally had time To change clothes Before He does not Spend time It's the Tiger Cruise I would assume Everybody that has A relative coming Has time set aside To spend with daughter Or son Or kid Or whomever Nephew Whatever
[00:17:09] He doesn't care I would be curious To know how like An actual Tiger Cruise Is structured Because on a whole The family members Don't spend a lot of time No Yeah it's basically Just like A free for all Like just Kind of explore I think it's got to be A laid back week Like if you're going To have a Tiger Cruise They're not going on Any big military missions I mean there is That portion where they Have all of the Visiting family members In a room To watch Three officers Dance Yeah Yeah And there's like
[00:17:39] I think there's a lot Of events like that But like the people They're visiting Aren't actually spending That much time with them I feel like in real life It's pretty much Just an all family time Hey leave us a reading Review if you've ever Been on a Tiger Cruise Let us know How much time You actually got to spend With your family Or if it is just Ice cream Like summer camp Ice cream Dance competition Flight show Go to the canteen Get some nachos And every now and then Like they didn't even Eat with their family members It's crazy It's crazy Stuff out there Tiger Cruise
[00:18:08] Is not for the weak heart Feint of heart Or the weak of heart Yeah So speaking of Speaking of kids Who don't want to be there There's Anthony Again the drummer And he's just kind of Goofing around He's exploring the ship He's getting in some trouble He almost like Falls off the ship While doing a weird dance With the wind He realizes that If he has his jacket And he kind of goes like this The wind will blow him around Which he thinks is fun Almost blows him off He lands in the net And Maddie goes to Make sure he didn't die
[00:18:38] And sees that he's in that And then walks away Yeah And there's zero supervision For these unaccompanied minors Here Like he is Anthony is first walking out Onto the deck Wearing a hat And he passes an officer And the officer goes You can't wear that On the flight deck And Anthony's like Oh okay And he takes it off And the guy's like Immediately walks outside And loses his hat Because it is in fact Very windy out there But like who's watching
[00:19:08] No one's watching any of them They're on Tiger Cruise I can't imagine You're able to do the fun You know Jacket thing On top of And there's tons of adults Walking by As Anthony is getting closer And closer to the edge They're fine And no one says anything As two people Brand that walked On a flight deck On a naval ship Without telling anyone We were going to do that And just did it I can tell you That this is ridiculous Well and ours wasn't active Ours wasn't active But there were planes everywhere
[00:19:37] And they were shooting a movie And it was a closed set And we literally walked up there Without asking anyone Or telling anyone And we If we had not found someone We knew We would have been found out Pretty quickly This is the They're just like Oh there's a kid up here That's fine He's fine He's not my problem He's goofing He's goofing There's nets Military loves goofs Military loves a goof Loves a goof That's right So Maddie Finally ends up having A bit of a heart Heart to heart With her dad She just wants her dad To come home And he's basically like I hear you
[00:20:08] And I see you But I don't want to I don't want to This is my job There's not much I can do You flew all the way out here Just asked me to come home How dare you How dare you want to Spend time with your father You foolish child That's right I thought you wanted to Spend time with me here Turns out you want to Spend time with me at home Yeah What a waste of my time It was like I'm coming home For a little bit After this It's gonna be great I do understand One That some people Who are lifelong military people Have a hard time
[00:20:37] Going back home I know that Because we have All kinds of PTSD studies And we need more Mental health counseling Blah blah blah I also understand Being Doing the job And fulfilling your responsibility As a soldier And how seriously People take that The response of Bill Pullman To his daughter here Couldn't be more callous Insensitive Or unempathetic Like He is an established Military professional Who has already completed I believe Over 20 years of service He
[00:21:06] It's totally up to him Whether he comes back or not And it is not even Remotely In his Purview To be like Maybe I shouldn't Do Maybe I shouldn't Do this anymore You're just not as important As my job Is basically what he says Yeah And I mean I think Yes All the things he said Are correct And if that was Any part of his Character arc On this movie You could have He could have even Had like You know Well this is my job It's really important I don't You know I don't know What I would do at home Or like I haven't
[00:21:36] You know Yes But he's just like Oh it's so cute That you want me to come home But You don't get it Pat pat pat You don't Literally Literally The problem is Is that it is Part of his character arc And I don't want to spoil Our fun com chat That we're having But he's going to say He's going to come home 9-11's going to happen And then he's going to Re-enlist Instead Because 9-11 So it's worse than that Right It's He is It is the worst Possible message
[00:22:06] To send The what I would imagine 8-12 year old children Watching this movie Which is If a major tragedy strikes Your parent If they are called To military service Their Most important responsibility Is not you I can't I just can't I can't It's terrible It's bad Bad Bad Bad Bad Bad I mean It's part of the plot line That when I first watched this At 13
[00:22:35] I don't remember that plot line at all You're like Duh 9-11 happened He can't stay with his family He can't What kind of person would he be What kind of man would he be So No the thing that I very much remember Is Mr. Horner So Who's Mr. Horner We'll get there Okay Good Got it Well we haven't Who's Mr. Horner He's the ex-Marine Who's visiting his Who almost has a heart attack He's visiting his son Who's a chef Yeah I don't really talk about Okay well I'll talk about him In the com chat Yeah go ahead So the next day
[00:23:04] The Tigers are really excited The next day being September 10th The Tigers September 10th The Tigers are excited About the upcoming Air show They're really excited About the air show It's going to be really exciting And all Tina really wants to do Is to get close enough To take pictures With her little Little camera She wants to get on the flight deck So she can take pictures Of her sister Because she's going to Be in the air show So Maddie's like I got this My dad's a big deal You know I can get us up there
[00:23:34] He owes me After what happened Last night Pulled some favors After I cried to him About coming home And he said No way It's a no for me Does not owe her He says no It's a restricted area You can't do it You got to go up there To vultures row With everybody else Now I'm assuming Everyone else took like Normal stairs Mr. Horner is like A retired marine Who is very old Slightly overweight And decides he's going To go up through I don't know what You would call that Little It's a little It's a straight
[00:24:04] It's vertical ladder That just is a tunnel That goes straight up Like a tunnel Yeah And at one point I thought he was Maybe going to fall Off the ladder Yeah Because he is Breathing hard And he's looking down He loses his hat At one point And it tumbles To the bottom Of the tunnel Yeah That was a scene We needed We sure did For sure We sure did Anthony overhears The whole situation He's like I can get you Anywhere you need to go I got this So they
[00:24:33] Find some Like Vests Some uniforms Yeah That you would need To be out on the deck And They sneak out there It's a whole thing But They Stick around A little bit Too long And one of the workers Recognizes them And is like Hey So they run away They think they're in the clear They're not in the clear They end up being brought To the captain's office For his I believe One and only scene That's right As captain And he gives them We see him like another time Oh do we After 9-11
[00:25:03] Okay Yeah But he gives them A big talking to And is like You guys gotta get out of here I gotta talk to your families now And then when they leave He like laughs And it's like Silly captain You know He's just He's just having fun Classic He's just having fun I get that I will say This scene Maddie is a better person Than me Because I don't know If I just met Two individuals And we snuck somewhere And I was like Alright At a certain point We have to leave So we don't get caught And then one of those people Doesn't listen to my Repeated warnings
[00:25:32] Of we have to leave Like Do you just leave? Like you don't know this girl You met her yet Yesterday Tough spot to be in Like You gave her plenty of warnings She's just all up in her Her camera Like I would be like Okay well We're Leaving I don't know Yeah You just gotta either decide To save yourself Or take it And Maddie's a better person Maddie was like All for one So After this happens Maddie's dad Is like Basically like
[00:26:02] You're just trying to get Like It's clear you're trying To get my attention Basically And so they have Another She was like You'd be surprised How little I thought Of you today That's exactly right And he ends up Basically Giving his word That he is going To come home for good He's like I hear you I understand what you're saying And I think it's important This is it for me There's nothing There's nothing That could happen That would make me Change my mind I'm done When I'm done With this rotation
[00:26:32] Like I'm coming home I'm coming home For good My mind's been made up The next day Is September 11th And You may have heard of it Maybe you've heard of it I mean it's a day That happens every year Never forget it And The Tigers can tell That something Is going on Everybody's kind of Running around frantically And Maddie's dad Finally ends up Bringing everyone together And tells them What happens And gives a little speech Yeah he does Because he's Bill Pullman Yeah he does His hands are tied there
[00:27:01] So the ship is now Basically It's how he got this position On this ship Is they were interviewing For I guess Co-captains And They said In order to finalize This interview You must give an Impassion speech Yeah And Bill Pullman Obviously he won He did the Oh of course he did They're like You're hired immediately I brought my game tape in Let's watch this That's right Yeah yeah yeah You can see my work Exhibit A It's really good You were the president So And you want to be On this ship Independence Day is such a good movie
[00:27:31] It's a great movie Oh my god Was it a decon? Freaking wish it was Was it made by Disney? Oh my god Let's watch it Can we just do that? Yeah put it in the hat Was Independence Day made by Disney? No I'm pretty sure it was 20th Century Fox I hate that Owned by Disney? Owned by Disney Hold on Let me look It's free It's free play It's at home If it's 20th Century Fox That bad boy Our hands are tied Our hands are tied At that point Because of the Merger acquisition Please pause this podcast While we look up
[00:28:00] Independence Day 20th Century Fox Oh it's in the mix No no no Wait a minute Yeah yeah That's it It's in the mix Okay it can go in the hat Go in the hat So So when we reach the end Of all the DCOMs We just write a bunch of movies That are under the umbrella Of Disney And we just pull from a hat Yeah I If we're including All 20th Century Fox movies That have been made Throughout history This is no longer fun Aside from the fact That I get to do Independence Day But it isn't really A Disney property It's maybe a Disney property Now but it wasn't A Disney movie
[00:28:30] Okay what if it's just Disney properties And we I allow Independence Day No because everything Is a Disney property I'd love Independence Day No but like what if It's strictly Disney And then we just like Let Independence Day No and then we're making Exceptions for everything Independence Day Knocked on the door No other movie Knocked on the door It's the Bill Pullman Connection The Bill Pullman No because we can do it For everything It's Disney movies And anybody who's ever Been in a Disney movie What if July 4th Falls on a Friday I'm sure it will Eventually Right That year
[00:29:00] Do we do an audible I'm sure there's another Alright whatever Bran and I will watch Independence Day It's two against one You don't have to come If you don't watch it I'm not gonna You're not gonna I freaking love the movie But it's not That's not what the podcast Wow It's not a descendant Of DCOM Wow I know Okay Anyway So you would never like Say on a Hallmark podcast Watch No different Fast and Furious Totally different Got it Totally different This is a hat We're pulling a random movie out That's what makes it fun
[00:29:30] In Hallmark Hey July 4th Is on a Friday this year We just decide what to watch We're not gonna be done With the DCOMs though That's a bonus It's a bonus app It's a bonus app Bonus app Freaking Leave a rating and review If you'd like us to watch Independence Day It's Bill Pullman What if we watch it For Take It to the Tape And we just give it out For free to everybody Just to be like You can watch us watch This amazing movie I like it I'm out Welcome to Earth So I guess either way We do this I'm in So because of 9-11
[00:29:59] The ship The ship That is now Full of tigers Is also on full alert Full tiger Full alert And they're not Allowing any Communication out That's exactly right Which makes sense I mean at that point You don't know What happened And who was responsible Correct Which is really Hard for What's his name again Mr. Horner Mr. Horner to understand Because he has His brother Is in the pentagon Yeah it's this whole thing Where the whole movie He has the utmost respect For the military Reminds everyone
[00:30:30] He has to be a marine Yeah He respects everybody Who's really in the military Of course Unlike his son Who is just a cook After 9-11 happens He Doing puck stuff Has issues with his son Where he's like Hey we might be going to war And you're back here Baking cookies And his son's like This is my job Like someone needs to feed The people who are out there They need cookies And then they go on Like communication I don't know how
[00:30:58] They need cookies Yeah but then He's just like Okay I get that No one else can talk To someone But like I just need to make One phone call Yeah And Bill Pullman's like No When I said You can't No one I meant no one Yeah yeah yeah Yeah yeah yeah But I'm Ex-Marine So I've been nice But you don't understand The rules don't apply to me Yeah One phone call Just one I just gotta make One phone call I'm the only person On this ship Who potentially lost Someone in these attacks I need one phone call
[00:31:28] So Maddie Mr. Horner You know kind of Shut up Like interactions Like that happen With her dad And goes in And sees her dad Working really hard In the special place That no one else Is allowed to be in She draws a picture Of him in front of An American flag That's exactly right And if she begins To Give it to him To kind of say Like I understand That's right She starts to realize The price of freedom You know He's so locked Into his spreadsheets He doesn't even notice Her come in the room And Officer Jailbait Over there
[00:31:57] Who we haven't Even talked about He notices Maddie Because of course He does Officer Jailbait And he goes Oh are you under 16 I notice you Hello there It is I Tina has a crush on him And he gets Way too close To Tina Yeah he is Not the adult In the room At all there Except for the time That he is left In charge of all The tigers And it made us So uncomfortable So uncomfortable But yeah Maddie is beginning To realize That her dad's job He made too many Eyes at Tina
[00:32:27] Her dad's job Way too many Is important This whole time She didn't know Her dad's job Was important Now she knows My dad's job Is important I thought he was Out here just Eating all the ice cream He could handle And just watching People dance Well it's also like You know Turns out he's Fighting for our freedom Like anybody Could be in that position And help run this ship But like Not everyone can Give a speech Like her dad can No He's one of one In speech givers For DCOM And that includes Gary Cole Which Really good competition
[00:32:57] Yes Is there a version Of this movie That's Gary Cole Hilary Duff I would hate that For both of them I hated it For Bill Pullman And Hayden Panettiere Like I just Like So I don't think Hilary would have done it No She would never So God almighty Maddie starts Maddie starts Doing some work No I just think At this point She She had done Lizzie McGuire And the Lizzie McGuire movie And I think If she'd been offered This movie I think she had
[00:33:26] Enough pull on Disney To say no Okay No I'm not going to Like that's not me That's not me I'm fine You can't trick me Into the 9-11 movie To know for me No sir So Maddie Starts to help As well And she's like Helping with The kids Helping them feel better And she comes up With this An idea They weren't gonna do The American flag thing Where they go out And they all hold The American flag But she's like Hey we should do The American flag thing It would be really good For morale It would be really good For the kids
[00:33:56] And so they do it They do the American flag thing We can't call anybody But we can unfurl The biggest American flag So in case any There are any enemy In the world Enemy aircraft Broad daylight They would know That we're American And I was just A little bit disappointed Like the flag's Already touching the ground Just parachute that bad boy That's right Parachute that bad Parachute it Parachute it Parachute it It's fun Yeah So that happens Ultimately They finally get the A-OK To dock
[00:34:26] They let the Tigers Off And Maddie You know Kind of having the conclusion That Her dad's job Is important And more important Than Some things are more important Than having a father It's like Hey you can't come home Right now You can't come home You get back out there Tiger Not like Because he wasn't No you get back out there For this Tiger For this Tiger That's exactly right I am Tiger I'm tagging you in Tiger Tagging you in Tiger Go get him Tiger I think she salutes him She does There's a lot of
[00:34:56] Saluting here And that's That's Tiger Cruz Let's take a break We'll come back We'll share our thoughts On the movie And we'll see where It lands on our list Here on Decom Descendants Dynamite Aaron Really good stuff I'm done for the day Never forget Welcome back everybody It's Decom Descendants We're talking Tiger Cruise today
[00:35:25] It is time for Overtime That's where we're Talking about how This movie Aged over time And share our thoughts On it I have some Letterboxd reviews If you'd like them Maybe Logan says A rascally group Of youngsters Green screen vacation Goes horribly awry When terrorists Do a 9-11 Jeez Patriotism Ensues Noah says One star Are you baking Cookies during 9-11 Noah says One star I started watching this
[00:35:55] Because of the Hilariously awful Preview clip on Disney Plus I did not expect it To be To open on September 9th 2001 With multiple Children boarding Planes Big surprise It sounds like Noah was also Surprised Yeah Sarah says There are no Tigers And it's only A cruise In the loosest Definition of the Term Matt says One star Out of all Of the Disney Original Disney Channel Original movies That involved 9-11 This is definitely The best one
[00:36:25] True Also the worst One But A Richie We'll go with A Richie Says half star When's Disney Gonna make a decum About January 6th And Fiamma Says One star Baby's first Military propaganda Let's share our Thoughts on this One Erin Tiger cruise It Yeah I will say If you don't Know what this Movie is about As I'm like Putting the Episodes up
[00:36:55] It's really hard To sum up These movies In one sentence So I typically Steal the Synopsis From either IMDB Or Disney Plus Itself Yep Just makes My job Easier And This is how Disney Sums up This movie Maddie Dolan Is tired of Being labeled A Navy Brett That's it So if you Didn't know It would be You turn it On They are Begging you To watch This movie
[00:37:24] And get Shocked That it's 9-11 Yeah And I will Say I did Watch this In 2004 Because I Liked Hayden Pantier And I Don't Like Either I was Just 13 And not Paying Attention To the Subtitles Of the Date But it Did catch Me off Guard So I Don't know If they Just didn't Air them With the Date Like I Don't Know if They were Trying to Catch us All off Guard Or if I Just wasn't Paying Attention I did Think Probably Because of
[00:37:54] My experience With my Brother in Tiger Cubs Like going On Navy Ships I was like Yeah That's just The thing Kids do And I Just thought It would be A typical D-com Where we Just get Into some Hijinks On a ship Like There's So much Room For Hijinks I Shockingly Haven't Seen this Movie Since It's not It's not One in My regular Rotation Probably Still won't Be in My regular Rotation
[00:38:25] But I Didn't Hate this Movie What I didn't Hate it Then I Don't Hate it Now Really Uh huh Wow Why I gave A lot Of reasons Of To the Contrary Yeah No I Mean I Think it's Like ridiculous But For a D-com It was Fine I Think As I Was I was Ranking Them last Night And I Was going Through some Of the Other Ones We've Seen And There Are Just A lot Of the Other
[00:38:55] D-coms There's A couple Things In Them That Is Really Stopping Me From Wanting To Watch Them Again Um 9-11 Is Not Doing It It Wasn't Like Egregious Enough I
[00:40:04] Girl Mind Propaganda By And Large I I Think We All Like Propaganda When It Works For I'm A Pretty Big Fan Of Yeah Um This Movie Is So Uh Yeah I Don't Know
[00:40:35] The
[00:41:05] We could do the 9-11 movie or we could do the funny thing with the guy who does the purple jam and sends it into the Food Network for Bobby Flay. I think we're going to do the purple jam with Bobby Flay. Yeah, if we had to choose. Or even if we had to choose between the 9-11 movie or no movie. Probably no movie. No movie. So yes, movie not fun. Movie is obviously very manipulative. But, you know, movie not necessarily bad. Just, you know, it is what it is. Dan?
[00:41:36] Yeah, so I went through, I guess, a similar thought process having not seen this, you know, when I was a kid and being completely caught off guard. I went, I was really angry about the message of the movie. I think the worst thing that DCOMs can do is give kids a bad message. I think the baseline for DCOMs is fun. And I think anything above fun is awesome. Like when you have motocross and it's like guys and girls can all do everything.
[00:42:04] That's like, you know, or you have movies that don't quite work as well for me, like right on track, but aspire to something greater. Right on track. Even then it's like worst case scenario. It wasn't for me, but it still was inspiring. Fun is the baseline. Like Hounded, where the dog's just running around. There's no message in that movie. But you leave just going, all right, it was 80 minutes, dog, whatever. It wasn't good, but who cares? It was fun. They throw a puppet across the room. For me, yeah, they throw a puppet across the room.
[00:42:29] So for me, like that is the baseline. And if you start doing things where you give kids the wrong message, like true confessions, where it's like, you should exploit your brother's disability for your own gain. And that's how we should treat people with disabilities. Like that is, those are actively bad. But to Brand's point, boring is the worst. Boring is kind of the end all be all.
[00:42:59] Like Z3 was unwatchable. And so when I finished the movie, I started going through this process and then I went, but the movie was actually, it's got Bill Pullman. It's got Hayden Panettiere. It's, it's actually a good movie. And then I was like, you know what? No, it isn't. The movie's green screen usage is correct. Me if I'm wrong. It's the worst green screens we've seen. It's the worst green screens I've seen. I would say of special effects, I would rather watch this than Z3. Okay. Okay.
[00:43:30] Because Z3 is using a lot of digital effects. This is me. It's like, but if I just had this movie on in the background, I wouldn't have noticed a lot of the different green screens. Z3, anytime they're on screen, it's, it's. But I will say this, I will say this. That's a, that's a fair opinion. I think if you'd rather watch one, but Z3 is supposed to take place in space. So the green screen is, is acknowledged. This is supposed to take place on a ship. And it does. That's the thing. I don't understand why.
[00:43:59] Like in its green screen anyway, that's to me, like I was, I left the movie and I went, that movie made me angry, bad message. But at least it wasn't, it wasn't a bad. Oh wait, it is a bad movie. The way this movie is shot and directed is also bad. I think that's the thing that needs to be said here is Hayden and Bill are in a bad movie. And so for me, the propaganda of 2004 is evidence, right? This isn't 2001. All right.
[00:44:28] At 2001, I was 18 years old. I was angry at everyone from the Middle East and I was wrong. Like to be that angry. A lot of us were wrong, but everyone had an American flag. There was a bunch of unity. And we, we, we, you know, George W. Bush took us into shock and all in 2004. Right. So all of a one. Okay. It is what it is. You know, I've never really seen patriotism like that. In 2004, we're trying to justify a war against a country that didn't do anything to us.
[00:44:57] We're trying to justify military presence around the world. We're trying to justify doing terrible things to less fortunate people under the guise of the American flag. And in 2004, to show this movie to 12 and 13 year olds and go, what your dad or mom is doing is better and more important than what they could be doing with you was not only like super duper manipulative, which is common for military propaganda.
[00:45:24] It also was in, in defense of the indefensible. And so for me, that made me really angry. If it's a good movie, great. But that's kind of the low bar for me doing that to kids. And I'm not surprised that it happened. I'm not surprised that that's what we did. As soon as I saw September 9th, I knew what was coming and I was like, oh no. But for this movie released in 2004 is dirty. It's not about 9-11. It's about a war against a country that didn't do anything to us.
[00:45:54] And that is unfortunate revisionist history that some kids who saw this when they were 13 probably never connected in their life. They just thought the war in Iraq was great. And so that, that is someone that taught history for a long time. That freaking hurts. Like that stings. That's terrible. The movie's also bad. Bill Pullman giving speeches. Sign me up. Hayden Panettiere. She's a great actor. She should be in more stuff. I never watched Nashville. I'm sure she was great in that. Love her. Remember the Titans. Loved her in Heroes.
[00:46:23] They're in a bad movie. They're in a bad movie. And sign me up not to ever watch it again. That's all I'm saying is for me, even the movie quality let me down in a way that I was not anticipating. So yeah, heart out. I just wish I knew why. Like if you have access to the ship. To boat. Why not shoot all scenes on boat? Yeah. Because even Hallmark did that with USS Christmas. What strikes me is that. Hallmark utilized the heck out of the USS whatever it was. Yeah. Yorktown. Yorktown. And they shot it all. And they shot it all.
[00:46:53] And there wasn't a green screen to be found. But what's wild is it's almost reeks of reshoots. You know what I mean? Like they have to reshoot them. Like they shot it and then they didn't get what they needed. Yeah. And so they had to do some green screen stuff to make it work. And they stand out like it stands out. Or was it just the fact that like they didn't actually shoot it in Hawaii and they thought us as 13 year olds would notice the background. And so while they're on an actual ship, they were like, we have to make it look like Hawaii. That's not Honolulu. That's a terrible decision. Would not have noticed.
[00:47:22] Like the only thing you could have, you should have green screened was the Arizona Memorial. Right, Arizona? Yes. Yeah. Okay, give us that starting point. But then just let it be San Diego. But there's plenty of drone footage. Or shoot on the other side of the ship where it's ocean. Yeah. There's plenty of drone footage of the USS Arizona that we could just take and use. And then it's not green screen. And then when you see them, like you said, show out to sea and it's fine. Yeah, no one's going to know.
[00:47:52] It was real bad. No one's going to know. Can you imagine they're shooting and you're just like, is that Petco Park in the back? The Padres, are they playing a game right now? Yeah. 13-year-old me with, I don't even know if I had, well, I know I probably had internet at that point. I wasn't Googling skyline of Hawaii. No. No. You could have fooled me. I could literally tell you, not tell you anything about the difference between the skyline of San Diego versus somewhere in Hawaii. I mean, I'm sure now at 34 I'd be like, that's not Hawaii. Yeah.
[00:48:22] But 13-year-old me would have been like, cool, palm trees. Exactly. They've also literally never stopped them before. They've done this before where they're in Hawaii and they're not actually in Hawaii. Right. They flipped it. Yeah. And they didn't use green screens. They shot it in Hawaii as it's supposed to be. My mom grew up in Peru or lived in Peru for a long time and Paddington in Peru is coming out. Yeah. She was like, I want to take your kids to see it. And then she said, you know, I grew up there or like I lived there for a long time.
[00:48:50] And I was like, mom, how much Peru do you think is going to be in that movie? But maybe more than I think. Maybe a lot. Maybe they did go to Peru to shoot it. I don't know. Paddington. They don't, don't you dare resmirch the name of Paddington Bear. I would never. Those movies rule. Let's get to our list. Where's Tiger Cruz going to end up? Erin, make your list. Yeah. It should come as no shock to anybody. This movie is not debuting in my top ten. What? It's not cracking anybody's tin. Get out of here. We don't know. We ran this unspoken.
[00:49:20] Okay. Right behind Brink. Titan Pennantier and Bill Pullman. There was, I, I did do a lot of, I spent a lot of time in my war room last night looking over my list. So there, a few things did move around. Nothing drastic. Mom's Got a Day with the Vampire did move up. Okay. The longer I thought about it. So yeah, it's a quality movie. Yeah. Quality. Quality. Um, I have two changes in my top ten too, by the way. Wow. BT dubs. Yeah.
[00:49:50] I don't think nothing in my top ten moved yet. Um, I did debate swapping out Scream Team at 10 for Halloween Town at 11. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Um, I think Scream Team is a better movie, but I think about Halloween Town more. Sure. Like, it's just one of those where I keep thinking about, especially, you know, having watched Halloween Town 2 and, you know, getting ready to watch Halloween Town High. Prepping. Prepping. Just, yeah. So we'll see. Um. You're in your Halloween Town era. Yeah.
[00:50:21] Um. Put a pumpkin on your head. Sure. I don't know. Um, so. She's on that door. Uh, Tiger Cruise is coming in at 41 for me. Okay. Good answer. It's 41. It's right up front in front of True Confessions. Yeah. If I had to watch a bad, serious decom, I think I'd rather watch this than True Confessions. Gosh, I'm, that, that's a great question because I currently, those two movies are duking
[00:50:51] it out for me. I have True Confessions a little higher than this on the performance of LaBeouf alone, but I didn't, I didn't, it's a fair argument. It's the LaBeouf bump. It's the LaBeouf bump. Yeah, that's true. But. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. So that's, that's, that's 40. It's right behind Xenon, the Z-Qual. Shout out. So just right there in those offensive movies for me. Uh, so right now, no changes to the top 10. Scream Team at 10. Miracle Lane Tune at 9. 8. Get a Clue. 7.
[00:51:21] Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off. 6. Phantom of the Megaplex. 5. Smart House. 4. Johnny Tsunami. 3. Right on Track. 2. 3. I was just staring at my top 10. Um, 13 year old me would never have guessed that Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off is in my top 10. Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off is a really solid movie. Movie slaps, man. I mean, it's a movie that I think, yeah, I watched it when it came out, but I was like,
[00:51:50] it's, it's boys and baseball. Um, but yeah, watching it again, like it's a good movie. That's right. So 13 year old me is shocked, but a 34 year old me is allowing my opinion to change some. That's right. And maybe the movie, maybe the movie I loved at 8 is not the best movie at all. Oh my God. Absolutely. That's so wise, Aaron. Absolutely. For you to say that out loud. As I say to the guy wearing the Puppin' Says shirt. It's important to move forward. It's important to like understand.
[00:52:19] And I think my list proves that I have. I don't think it proves that at all, unless you're going to announce something that I can't believe. Hey, Brandon, you want to tell us about your list? Yeah, sure. Uh, Tiger Cruz is at 47 for me. Uh, it's interesting you brought up, uh, Z3, Dan, cause I actually have this right behind Z3. Wow. Um, so there you go. Um, top 10 Z's, uh, no changes for me. Uh, luck of the Irish 10, Fando of the Megaplex 9, Full Court Miracle 8, Smart House 7, 6 is
[00:52:47] Eddie's Million Dollar Cook-Off, 5 is Cadet Kelly, 4 is Get a Cliff. So number three is Motocross. Number two is Johnny Thunami. And number one, the greatest movie of all time and anytime. Drink. Okay. So learn nothing. Uh, I think the rest, if you look at the rest, I mean, come on. Give me my childhood for number one is what you're saying. I haven't learned anything. I've learned a lot. Give me the best movie of all time. Number one. I have Tiger Cruz at 51. Um, I, the, what do you have right behind?
[00:53:18] What's the worst? The worst is Z3 and the second worst is the Jenny Project. And those two movies I felt dropped below the, the, the boring bar had to be so low to drop below Tiger Cruz, in my opinion. On the other side of Tiger Cruz, I have Stepsister from Planet Weird, which I think is a terrible movie, but at least is terrible in a, in a slightly interesting way. And then right in front of that, I have Rip Girls. So my, I thought we were at 52 movies. I got 53. Oh, have you already put? I've already put. Yeah. Oh, my bad.
[00:53:47] So it's at 50 right now. It's at 50 right now, but everything else I said was the same. I just counted wrong. I'm sorry. That's okay. Yeah. I just want to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Couple of moves in my top 10. Shake them up. Re-entering my top 10 Halloween town. Uh, I know we've got the third one coming up next week, but the second one was not very good, but I, I was thinking about that movie.
[00:54:08] And how incredibly original it was, how incredibly interested I was in this other world with all of these, speaking of not green screen, practical effects and Robin Thomas, real villain, real twist. I think it deserves a little better than I've been given it lately. Back in my top 10. It's back baby. Taking the place of Miracle in lane two. Back in my top 10. So also moving in my top 10, Cadet Kelly moving all the way up to the fourth spot.
[00:54:39] Um, from the sixth spot. I will, I will tell you my new top 10 right now. Okay. 10 Halloween town, nine full court, Miracle eight scream team, seven, get a clue. Six Eddie's million dollar cook off five phantom of the Megaplex for Cadet Kelly. Three moms got a date with a vampire to Johnny tsunami. And number one, still motocrossed. Still tough to beat that one. Motocross. There's my top 10. Great flick. Great flick. Great fun. Uh, we did it everybody. Congratulations to us. Uh, leave us a review.
